Bug#651445: WPA passphrase deleted and connection forgot if you exit the passphrase dialog without typing the passphrase
The bug is even worse because NM forgets the passphrase even if you try to connect to wireless network and it has currently some problems. Ie. you are connecting to wireless network that currently doesn't work (I suppose that not working DHCP server behind AP is enough), NM asks for passphrase with passphrase prefilled, you click Connect, but if it doesn't manage to connect this second time, it forgets the passphrase completely! It is not only annoying it means major problems if you don't remember passphrases to all the wireless networks you connect to. -- Michal Kašpar smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature

Bug#656289: Processed: notfixed 656289 in snort/2.9.2-1, notfound 656289 in snort/2.9.2-1
Hi Javier (2012.01.28_19:05:26_+0200) Why is this not considered fixed? This was fixed with the upload of libdaq to unstable. I was trying to get the bug tracking system to acknowledge that the problem had been fixed, and snort should be allowed to migrate to testing. As it was fixed it a different package, the bug hadn't been marked as fixed in any particular version of snort, but was marked as being broken in one version. This was blocking testing migration. (As well as the daq dependency) The BTS doesn't understand that a bug can be found in snort/2.9.2-1 and fixed in snort/2.9.2-1, so I removed the found in annotation. Bug#657698: [php-maint] Bug#657698:
Hi, there was a short discussion on the mailing list. It was started by Jan Wagner (maintainer of php5-suhosin module) here: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-php-maint/2012-January/009642.html I then asked on the mailing list about other opinions: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-php-maint/2012-January/009655.html and then decided that it's not worth the trouble to support suhosin patch. The PHP team is undermanned for a very long time, so you are welcome to join the team, help with squashing the bugs and then prepare and thoroughly test a patch to build non-suhosin and suhosin SAPI variants in one build. We (basically I) don't have a resources for that, so the rational decision was to divert a little less from the upstream. For other reasons see f.e.: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/498022 O. Bug#657835: libc6: libc deadlocks in child process after fork
Package: libc6 Version: 2.11.3-2 Severity: important One thread of multithreaded application calls fork(). According to the POSIX standard only that thread which called fork() would present in the child process. But the state of all mutexes, condvars and other objects are copied into the child process as is and should be reinitialized. A call for gmtime_r() from the user applications will lock internal libc lock __tzset_lock (defined in time/tzset.c). If one thread was calling gmtime_r() while another thread was calling fork(), this lock is copied into the child process in the locked state. So the first call of the child process for gmtime_r() will deadlock it. Apparently fork() implementation should have reset the state of all internal mutexes in the child process before returning control to it. This bug still applies to the head revision of glibc and eglibc. May be there are other places inside of libc which are subject to the same behaviour. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.4 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libc6 depends on: ii libc-bin 2.11.3-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Binaries ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8 GCC support library libc6 recommends no packages. Bug#652497: cryptdisks: danger in swap
Package: cryptsetup Version: 2:1.3.0-3.1 Followup-For: Bug #652497 Hi, I can reproduce this error on current unstable. (But looks the same for stable) I believe the problem is caused by conditions in /lib/cryptsetup/cryptdisks.functions in the precheck-function do_noluks() lines 319-324 that explicitly disable the filesystem-check for the source device if a swap target is about to be started: if ! pre_out=$($PRECHECK $src 2 /dev/null) \ [ $MAKESWAP != yes ] \ ! /lib/cryptsetup/checks/blkid $src swap /dev/null; then log_warning_msg $dst: the precheck for '$src' failed: $pre_out return 1 fi - The creation of an encrypted file system on the source device will fail if blkid _finds_ a known filesystem on the source device that is something other than swap AND when there is no intention to create a swap device. Indeed this checking works fine when trying to run an encrypted tmp on a known filesystem like e.g. /. Inversely these conditions imply that its fine to override a filesystem if it either used to be a swap partition or override any other filesystem type if you want to put an encrypted swap on it. Removing the second (and third if you wish) condition will make cryptdisks_start /dev/sdXX fail if there is already a proper well-known filesystem on it. Still, I don't know if that interferes with the installer or so... Hi Hideki, On Freitag, 27. Januar 2012, Hideki Yamane wrote: I've prepared an NMU for debian-edu-artwork (versioned as 0.0.33-2.1) and uploaded it to DELAYED/5. Please feel free to tell me if I should delay it longer. WTF?!? I mean I really like NMUs but - NMUing one day after the bug was filed, is already bad. (It's not a serious issue after all.) - then, debian-edu is an active team and the package is maintained, so you could+should have at least asked. - third, if you do an NMU, please follow the NMU procedure and open a new bug asking the maintainer to acknowledge and incorporate the NMU. - fourth: why did you move the #DEVHELPER# block in prerm? NMUs should be non- intrusive always and this doesnt qualify, esp. without an explaination why (and in our case, we're even still trying to release this to our squeeze, so such a change is really really unwanted. Granted, this last bit could have been unknown to you, but then, this was on d-d-a two weeks ago, so you should also have known this.) Please let me know how it comes out. On Tuesday, January 24, 2012 10:28:17 PM Aaron M. Ucko wrote: Source: libswe Version: 1.77.00.0004-1 Severity: serious Justification: fails to build from source Automated builds of libswe are failing because unoconv (used to produce PDF and HTML documentation) assumes a writable home directory, which the autobuilders' build environments lack. (Many also lack loopback network interfaces, which may be an issue as well.) Given that the documentation winds up in a separate architecture-independent binary package anyway, I'd suggest arranging to build it only in full builds, which presumably run in less restrictive environments. (Relatedly, I'd suggest moving unoconv from Build-Depends to Build-Depends-Indep.) Could you please look into it? Bug#657835: libc6: libc deadlocks in child process after fork
On Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 02:09:06PM +0400, Max Dmitrichenko wrote: Package: libc6 Version: 2.11.3-2 Severity: important One thread of multithreaded application calls fork(). According to the POSIX standard only that thread which called fork() would present in the child process. But the state of all mutexes, condvars and other objects are copied into the child process as is and should be reinitialized. True. Apparently fork() implementation should have reset the state of all internal mutexes in the child process before returning control to it. gmtime_r() is not an async-signal-safe function, and therefore should not be called after a fork in a multithreaded application. For more details, see: http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/pthread_atfork.html This is therefore not a bug in the GNU libc, but rather a bug in your program. -- Aurelien Jarno GPG: 1024D/F1BCDB73 aurel...@aurel32.net http://www.aurel32.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#657852: nginx: Please add FancyIndex module
Source: nginx Version: 1.1.12-1 Severity: wishlist -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Dear Maintainer, It would to be nice if nginx-extra added Fancyindex module, i use this module in my Debian box based on Debian package. About: - - The Fancy Index module makes possible the generation of file listings, like the built-in autoindex module does, but adding a touch of style. This is possible because the module module allows a certain degree of customization of the generated content: Custom headers. Either local or stored remotely. Custom footers. Either local or stored remotely. Add you own CSS style rules. This module is designed to work with nginx, a high performance open source web server written by Igor Sysoev. Bug#657810: sys/syscall.h and sys/errno.h
kfreebsd-kernel-headers 0.70 includes properly patched versions of sys/syscall.h and sys/errno.h which could be used to compile glibc. Please consider using those instead of the in-tree copies. A patch for bits/errno.h is attached. sys/syscall.h can be used directly. No, the bits/errno.h have to be part of eglibc, you can silently break ABI, by changing errno.h. In fact, due to changes of ELAST it just happened, see glibc-ports/kfreebsd/Versions and lines # The comment lines with #errlist-compat are magic; see errlist-compat.awk. # When you get an error from errlist-compat.awk, you need to add a new #errlist-compat 87 #errlist-compat 93 #errlist-compat 94 The sys/syscall.h problem is similar, FreeBSD upstream sometimes changes ABI of a syscall, it usually gives the new number for same syscall name. The eglibc have to know which one is used, i.e. the exact interface. See i.e. mmap.c. Again, silent upgrade of sys/syscall.h might be disaster. Bug#657854: OpenJDK 6 and 7 returns incorrect TrueType font metrics
Package: openjdk-7-jre Version: 7~b147-2.0-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, OpenJDK returns incorrect TrueType font height (greater than real value) under some conditions, this makes JasperReports (Java reporting library) not to work correctly on OpenJDK 6/7. Problem === On OpenJDK JRE and using some TrueType font, JasperReports does not display text element which height is just the same as the font size eg. { height=8, size=8, font=IPA mincho }. JasperReports checks the text size before drawing the text elements. If (ascent + descent) of text is greater than the height of text element, this text is not drawn. In above case, Sun Java returns the same height (ascent + descent = fontsize), but OpenJDK returns the text height greater than font size, so not drawn. Sample code (includes Japanese char) === import java.awt.Font; import java.awt.font.FontRenderContext; import java.awt.font.TextLayout; public class JavaApplication1 { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { Font f = new Font(IPA明朝,Font.PLAIN, 8); TextLayout layout = new TextLayout(IPA明朝, f, new FontRenderContext(null, true, true)); System.out.println(Ascent: + layout.getAscent()); System.out.println(Descent: + layout.getDescent()); } } Result of this code === Sun Java 6 (sun-java6-jre 6.26-0squeeze1) Ascent: 7.0390625 Descent: 0.9609375 OpenJDK 6 (openjdk-6-jre 6b24~pre2-1) Ascent: 7.046875 Descent: 0.96875 OpenJDK 7 (openjdk-7-jre 7~b147-2.0-1) Ascent: 7.046875 Descent: 0.96875 Sun Java returns correct height, but OpenJDK returns greater value than Sun's. Analysis of Source code === In OpenJDK6/7 native method sun.font.FreetypeFontScaler.getFontMetricsNative(): jdk/src/share/native/sun/font/freetypeScaler.c JNIEXPORT jobject JNICALL Java_sun_font_FreetypeFontScaler_getFontMetricsNative( JNIEnv *env, jobject scaler, jobject font2D, jlong pScalerContext, jlong pScaler) { (snip) /* ascent */ ax = 0; ay = -(jfloat) FT26Dot6ToFloat(FT_MulFix( ((jlong) scalerInfo-face-ascender + bmodifier/2), (jlong) scalerInfo-face-size-metrics.y_scale)); /* descent */ dx = 0; dy = -(jfloat) FT26Dot6ToFloat(FT_MulFix( ((jlong) scalerInfo-face-descender + bmodifier/2), (jlong) scalerInfo-face-size-metrics.y_scale)); (snip) metrics = (*env)-NewObject(env, sunFontIDs.strikeMetricsClass, sunFontIDs.strikeMetricsCtr, ax, ay, dx, dy, bx, by, lx, ly, mx, my); return metrics; } This code uses FT_MulFix to convert size. But FT_MulFix sometimes rounds up and loses precision. In FreeType2's FT_MulFix: freetype-2.4.8/src/base/ftcalc.c c = (FT_Long)( ( (FT_Int64)a * b + 0x8000L ) 16 ); If both ascent and descent are rounded up, (ascent + descent) is greater than original height. In the sample case (IPA mincho font), bmodifier = 0 scalerInfo-face-ascender = 1802L scalerInfo-face-descender = -246L scalerInfo-face-size-metrics.y_scale = 16384L In this case, 1802 mod 4 = 2 and 246 mod 4 = 2, so both are rounded up. This causes (ay + dy) font-size. (Note: (Sun) 1802.0/256.0 = 7.0390625, (OpenJDK) 1804.0/256.0 = 7.046875) Suggested fix = Fix to keep the precision in the font metrics conversion in Java_sun_font_FreetypeFontScaler_getFontMetricsNative(). Bug#657856: mlocate: may leak sensitive information
Subject: mlocate: may leak sensitive information Package: mlocate Version: 0.22.2-1 Severity: normal By default, updatedb.mlocate traverses users' home directories. In a setup where home directories (and swap) are encrypted, but for performance reasons the rest of the system isn't, this means that if updatedb.mlocate is run while a user is logged in and her home directory is mounted, then the names of the files under the encrypted home are stored unencrypted under /var/lib/mlocate, which makes them more vulnerable if the hardware gets compromised. This is easy to fix, of course, but it is a very, very non-obvious pitfall for someone trying to build a secure system, especially as mlocate seems to be the default for Debian (I don't recall installing it explicitly). Bug#657440: xkb-data: cannot switch between two kb layout in gnome
Hi Le 26/01/12 12:11, Cyril Brulebois a écrit : I'm not sure if Gnome interferes here. Feel free to open a bare session (http://x.debian.net/faq/general.html) and play with setxkbmap to see whether the layout is fucked up, or if the layout switcher in gnome is buggy. I launched a bare X session as requested, and there setxkbmap works perfectly. So I guess it's an interraction between xkb-data and the layout switcher in gnome, but I don't know which one is buggy. Please note as additionnal information that if I put the be layout as default in gnome and restart my session, I have no problem anymore in the layout switcher: it works fine directly after login, and the layouts are not inverted when I choose them. Anyway, feel free to report your findings on an upstream bug (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ product xkeyboard-config) and let us know about the URL for tracking. I'm not sure xkeyboard-config is the real culprit as setxkbmap works fine. I would even say that the gnome layout switcher is now a more compelling suspect :-) What can I do to diagnose this further ? Bug#657440: xkb-data: cannot switch between two kb layout in gnome
Rémi Letot hob...@poukram.net (29/01/2012): I'm not sure xkeyboard-config is the real culprit as setxkbmap works fine. I would even say that the gnome layout switcher is now a more compelling suspect :-) What can I do to diagnose this further ? Based on your checks I guess opening a bug against gnome's layout switcher could be a nice starting point. Mraw, KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#657860: www.debian.org: debian-reference/ch05.en.html, about sending the hostname to DHCP server
Package: www.debian.org Severity: wishlist Hello, I had the problem of informing the DHCP-server (which is a Fritz Box 7170) about my computer's name. In section 5.5.4 of http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch05.en.html#_the_network_connection_method_legacy it is suggested to edit /etc/network/interfaces introducing a line with the hostname allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp hostname mymachine This did not work for me having the following packages installed isc-dhcp-client 4.1.1-P1-15+squeeze3 isc-dhcp-common 4.1.1-P1-15+squeeze3 (I did not replace isc-dhcp-client with dhcp3-client as suggested in section 5.4.1. The DHCP connection with the Ethernet because I assumed that the isc-dhcp-client is the newer package) To solve the problem, I had to edit /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf, outcommenting the entries send host-name send dhcp-client-identifier and introducing the respective name and MAC-addresse. Bug#614316: ncurses-base: Update mach* terminfo
On 2012-01-22 19:28 +0100, Samuel Thibault wrote: Thomas Dickey, le Sat 23 Apr 2011 15:05:50 -0400, a écrit : What's the source for this? The only mach sources I see are for Mach 3.0 at CMU - and the console sequences are much cruder than that used here. Oops, it seems I have missed this mail. The source is the GNU Mach, which is a branch of Mach 3.0 developped in the GNU project. Maybe you'd prefer to fork the mach terminfo entry into e.g. mach-gnu? It should be fine for us. The latest upstream patchlevel has added two new terminfo entries mach-gnu and mach-gnu-color. Do you need any of those in ncurses-base, or would it be sufficient to ship them in ncurses-term?
