Bug#684352: HP Pavilion dv4000: Wifi kill switch always on unless ACPI=off is used

2012-09-30 Thread David Smith
Also note that my PC is a Compaq Presario V4000T, it shares a lot of the
same hardware as the HP Pavillion DV4000, but there are some hardware
differences\. They *might* be using the same BIOS,, I really don't know.
They do share the same service/repair manual but they have different
replacement part#s.

Not sure if that's important for you or not.

 Thanks for reporting it, and sorry for the slow response.

 Some ideas:

  - please attach acpidump output.
  - am I correct in imagining 3.5.y from experimental behaves the same way?
  - does the squeeze (2.6.32.y) kernel avoid trouble? It should work fine
on a wheezy/sid system.

 Next step will be to take this upstream, but let's try to figure out
 what caused the regression (e.g., which subsystem) first.

 Hope that helps,
 Jonathan

  Hi,

  I confirm that I can still reproduce this in wheezy using debirf 0.32.

  Using debirf 0.33 (only package that was updated when testing; same

  kvm -m 512 -kernel vmlinuz-3.2.0-3-amd64 -initrd
  debirf-minimal_wheezy_3.2.0-3-amd64.cgz

 I just downloaded your two files and did the kvm command that you provided
 and I
 did not get the segfault, rather it booted up to this:

 /proc/cmdline: No such file or directory

 Debian GNU/Linux wheezy/sid (none) tty1

 (none) login:

 but otherwise, I do not get the segfault that you experience. The only
 difference here is that I was running in Squeeze. Unfortunately, I could not
 find a wheezy box with amd64 and kvm extensions. I'll ask around to see what I
 can find.

If I remember correctly, it segfaults during boot, but then continues to
boot and still displays the login prompt. However you cannot log in.

Hi Jonathan,

I don't have another USB3 cable, but this one looks okay, and it is brand

As I wrote, this had happened on two entirely different PCs.

Bug#689197: calibre frontend does not launch ebook-viewer for azw3

2012-09-30 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: calibre
Version: 0.8.64+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

As of the latest kindle software update Amazon sends e-books in KF8
format (foo.azw3 - Found KF8 MOBI of type 'standalone'). Calibre can
handle these. They can be imported into the library and converted to
other formats in the main calibre program. However what does not work
is viewing the books. V[iew] on an azw3 format book does not lauch
calibre's ebook-viewer but a external WWW-browser (iceweasel):

Warning: unknown mime-type for
/home/ametzler/CalibreBlibliothek/.../somebook.azw3 -- using
application/octet-stream
Error: no view mailcap rules found for type application/octet-stream

Please note that adding a correct mime.type to /etc/mime.types
(application/x-mobipocket-ebook prc mobi azw3) does not make a
difference.

Calibre's ebook-viewer is capable of displaying these files if it is
lauched manually (ebook-viewer
/home/ametzler/CalibreBlibliothek/.../somebook.azw3) it just like
the main calibre program does not know about this yet.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package cinnamon for experimental.
This is the desktop environment developed by the Linux Mint team which
is basically a fork of gnome-shell in order to have the feeling of
GNOME2 while having the modern infrastructure of GNOME3. This package
requires its window manager called muffin (that needs to be sponsored as
well. see muffin ITP:http://bugs.debian.org/661270
   muffin RFS:http://bugs.debian.org/680544)

I previously made a sponsorship request concerning an earlier version
of cinnamon but it was in the middle of summer so many sponsor were on
vacation. I hope to be more successful now and that cinnamon will be
uploaded to experimental soon. It has indeed showed quite a lot of
interest from various people.

  * Package name: cinnamon
Version : 1.6.1-1
Upstream Author : Linux Mintr...@linuxmint.com
  * URL :http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com
  * License : GPL-2+
Section : x11

It builds those binary packages:

cinnamon - Innovative and comfortable desktop
cinnamon-common - Innovative and comfortable desktop (Common data files)
cinnamon-dbg - Innovative and comfortable desktop (Debugging symbols)

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x

Best regards,

Nicolas Bourdaud

Hi,

Your packaging git is on Github, any reason why you don't use Alioth
instead?

I've tried it (currently running it on my Wheezy laptop), and I like it! :)

Did you take the packaging work directly from Mint? What exactly did you
change from them?

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

 Are you fine if I upload this as it is to unstable?

 @SecurityTeam: I'm not Maintainer of the package but tinyproxy

Thanks for your work. It looks good. The changelog does have some quirks:

Bug#689201: biber: Documentation is missing from package

Package: biber
Version: 0.9.9+release-1
Severity: wishlist

The documentation for this software (biber.pdf) is available from Sourceforge
but not included in the package. As a result, the texdoc command fails to find
it. (According to the biber(1) manual page, texdoc biber should retrieve the
documentation, as is true for TeX/LaTeX packages generally).

I hope the documentation can be included in the next version.

I actually haven't done the 'real' work. All the real work was already

If you prevent the hp-wmi driver from loading (just running

 - which kernel versions you have tested and what happened with each

 - full dmesg output from booting and reproducing the bug on an
   affected kernel, as an attachment

 - PCI registers for your wireless card (from running lspci -vv -s06:05.0

 - any other weird symptoms or observations

 - a link to http://bugs.debian.org/684352 for the backstory

Hopefully someone upstream can suggest steps to perform or a patch to
try to further track down the cause.

Another hint: another tack would be to try various kernels to narrow
down when this regression was introduced. There are various
pre-compiled kernel versions at
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux-2.6/.  It would be
interesting to see whether 2.6.38 and 2.6.39 exhibit this.

Good luck,

Bug#689202: debsums: --root option escapes the alternate root and looks in the host system if paths in the alternate root contain absolute symlinks to directories

2012-09-30 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: debsums
Version: 2.0.52
Severity: important

Hi,

while analyzing two dubious piuparts errors involving debsums, I noticed
that debsums reports incorrectly some missing files. It works fine if I
install debsums in the chroot and run it from there - but it fails if I
run it from the outside with the --root option.

One package in question is drupal6-trans-ru which ships the file
/usr/share/drupal6/profiles/default/translations/ru.po, but the drupal
package (which was installed first) contains a
/usr/share/drupal6/profiles - /etc/drupal/6/profiles symlink, so the
file actually ended up as
/etc/drupal/6/profiles/default/translations/ru.po
(This is a bad thing, but that's not the point in this bug report.)

debsums report nothing inside the chroot:
(pbuild7199)root@host:/# debsums -ac

but running debsums from the outside of the chroot:
$ sudo debsums -ac --root /tmp/pbuilder/build/7199/
debsums: missing file
/tmp/pbuilder/build/7199//usr/share/drupal6/profiles/default/translations/ru.po
(from drupal6-trans-ru package)

and if I create /etc/drupal/6/profiles/default/translations/ru.po on the
host system with some random content, I get a md5sum mismatch:
$ sudo debsums -ac --root /tmp/pbuilder/build/7199/
/tmp/pbuilder/build/7199//usr/share/drupal6/profiles/default/translations/ru.po

I don't know if one can manage to replace binaries in the chroot and
then create a symlink hierarchy so that debsums run from the outside
(probably with a secure, untamperable copy of the admindir given to
the --admindir option) would not notice this modification as it would
check a safe file from the host instead ...
If this is possible, severity should be raised as this is a possible
security issue.

I didn't try it, but you can probably escape via a long chain of
../../../../.. ..., too.

Andreas

 Dear Maintainer,

 The Vcs-Git and Vcs-Browser fields currently point to the upstream
 repository.
 This incorrect: according to policy §5.6.26 and devref §6.2.5, they should
 point to the repository where the Debian packaging is stored (i.e.
 containing
 the debian/ directory). If the Debian packaging is not stored in a VCS,
 these
 fields should be removed.

 However, I can change those
 fields to point directly to the debian branch, if that would be better?

 Indeed, as explained in policy §5.6.26, you should point to the Debian
 branch using the new -b syntax (which is precisely intended for the
 case where the Debian packaging is not in the default branch).

 OK, I will fix debian/control, but which -b syntax are you talking about?
 I'm
 not up-to-date with all the latest debian developer tools.

 Did you mean instead do this:

 Vcs-Git: git://github.com/infinity0/mozilla-gnome-keyring.git -b debian

Yes this is the right syntax.

Also you should update the Vcs-Browser field. The right value seems to
be:

 https://github.com/infinity0/mozilla-gnome-keyring/tree/debian

Bug#689096: ipw2200 crashes on wakeup

2012-09-30 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Stefan,

Stefan Ott wrote:

 Is there anything I can do to help debug this, other than building
 trying dozens of kernel versions to try and find the bad commit?

I haven't looked closely into this report, but here are two quick
ideas:

 A. Have you tried the 3.5.y kernel from experimental? If it works,
we can try to find the patch that fixes the bug and apply the same
to wheezy. If it doesn't work, that information will make it much
easier for us to get help from upstream.

 B. You can find various kernels between 2.6.32.y and 3.2.y
pre-compiled here:

http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux-2.6/

That would make a few rounds of bisection to find roughly when
the bug was introduced easier.

(A) seems more promising than (B), since it would be best to get
the report in upstream hands soonish.

Thanks and hope that helps,
Jonathan

Thanks for the update, and no problem. Do you think you'll have time to

If you won't, it's not clear to me how to move forward on this in the

Bug#687048: avconv: x264 profile only supports main and baseline

2012-09-30 Thread Reinhard Tartler
tags 687048 moreinfo
stop

 I'm trying to use avconv to convert to h264 using libx264. I want
 to set the profile to high, but I still get main.

 I can change it to (constrained) baseline. But setting any other
 valid profile will get me the main profile. Setting it to an invalid
 option gives me an error. So it does recoginse the strings,
 it just doesn't seem to accept them for what ever reason.

Just to be sure, can you please provide the complete command that you
have used in your tests? Do you use the old, deprecated -vpre options
or the newish x264 codec private options:

 avconv -help | grep x264
[...]
   mbtree E.V.. use macroblock tree ratecontrol (x264 only)
-crf float E.V.. enables constant quality mode, and
selects the quality (x264)
-keyint_minint   E.V.. minimum interval between IDR-frames (x264)
libx264 AVOptions:
-presetstring E.V.. Set the encoding preset (cf. x264 --fullhelp)
-tune string E.V.. Tune the encoding params (cf. x264 --fullhelp)
-profile string E.V.. Set profile restrictions (cf. x264
--fullhelp)

 Using x264 directly does give me the profile I request.

Okay, that means that libx264 is functional.

Reinhard

 3.2 crashes as well, but not as hard as 3.4. With 3.2, X doesn't come
 up, but you can switch to a console and reboot.

 Sorry for the slow reply. Please test the attached patch, for example
 using the following instructions.

With those instructions and with the patch, 3.2.30 can bring up i915
KMS. Without the patch, it cannot. Seems to hit the spot.

Bug#686153: [PATCH] int10: fix pci_device_read_rom usage

2012-09-30 Thread Julien Cristau
Keith, could you pick up this patch?

Thanks,
Julien

On Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 20:03:58 +0200, Julien Cristau wrote:

 From: Stephan Schreiber i...@fs-driver.org

 I noticed that the build-in int10 driver always reports
 Unable to retrieve all of segment 0x0C.
 even though the entire BIOS data is retrieved with success.

 The associated code is in hw/xfree86/int10/generic.c, in the function
 xf86ExtendedInitInt10():

 if (pci_device_read_rom(pInt-dev, vbiosMem)  V_BIOS_SIZE) {
 xf86DrvMsg(screen, X_WARNING,
Unable to retrieve all of segment 0x0C.\n);
 }

 The function pci_device_read_rom() is from libpciaccess; its return
 value is not a size but an error status code: 0 means success.
 If pci_device_read_rom() returns 0 for success, the warning is generated.

 The proposed patch corrects the evaluation of the return value of
 pci_device_read_rom() and of the supplied BIOS size.

Please unblock package apt-listbugs

As can be seen with the following command on the git repository:

  $ git diff apt-listbugs/0.1.7..apt-listbugs/0.1.8 | filterdiff \
--exclude='*.po' --exclude='*.pot'

the only non-l10n changes from version 0.1.7 are:

  * i18n fixes and enhancements
  * English improvements and clarifications in translatable strings
and in the documentation (discussed on the debian-l10n-english
mailing list)
  * a dependency adjustment, done to drop a transitional package
(libgettext-ruby1.8 replaced by ruby-gettext)

I am attaching the output of the above command.

Please also take a look at the git repository, in case you want to
review the changes organized in commits:

 The magic of multi-arch (well, sort of). :)
Thanks Jonathan, it helped. I installed and bootet the kernel today.

During the boot process the singnal to my DVI connected monitor disappears.
I've created a video of the boot process. The last lines are:

input: PC Speaker as /devices/platform/pcspkr/input/input4
iTCO_vendor_support: vendor-support=0
iTCO_wdt: Intel TCO WatchDog Timer Driver v1.07

iTCO_wdt: initialized. heartbeat=30 sec (nowayout=0)
alg: No test for __gcm-aes-aesni (__driver-gcm-aes-aesni)

Unfortunately I could not provide anymore output.

With the disabled KMS (i915.modeset=0) the boot was successful.
Once I disabled KMS at boottime (i915.modeset=0). This boot process has been
completed. Audio and network is working. The dmesg output is attached.

Carsten

Bug#689207: ITP: rust -- a safe, concurrent, practical language

2012-09-30 Thread Luca Bruno
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Luca Bruno lu...@debian.org

* Package name: rust
  Version : 0.3.4
  Upstream Author : Graydon Hoare et al. rust-...@mozilla.org
* URL : http://http://www.rust-lang.org/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C/C++, Rust
  Description : a safe, concurrent, practical language

 Rust is a curly-brace, block-structured expression language.
 It visually resembles the C language family, but differs significantly
 in syntactic and semantic details. Its design is oriented toward
 concerns of programming in the large, that is, of creating and
 maintaining boundaries - both abstract and operational - that
 preserve large-system integrity, availability and concurrency.
 .
 It supports a mixture of imperative procedural, concurrent actor,
 object-oriented and pure functional styles. Rust also supports
 generic programming and metaprogramming, in both static and
 dynamic styles.

Bug#686212: [BTS#686212] templates://lsh-utils/{lsh-server.templates,control}

2012-09-30 Thread Magnus Holmgren
On söndagen den 23 september 2012, you stated the following:
 Please let me know if you intend to fix this bug in Wheezy: if so, I'll
 shake a bit more the Spanish translators in order to make sure they
 provide an update, since it's one of the languages already (almost)
 100 % complete, it would be a shame to brake its status while improving
 the English one.

Dunno, you initiated the process and I'll be happy to finish it, even though
it doesn't feel like the most urgent thing, as long as it's covered by the
freeze exception policy, which it still is, right? Now the Spanish translation
has been updated too.

* Urgency medium for RC bug

I was looking at the diff for this with a view to unblocking it, but as
far as I can see it's not actually fixed. The patch is indeed added to
the package, but not applied during build as:

$ cat debian/patches/series
#gnugk-fix-cve-2012-3534.diff

The patch does apply to the package, but attempting to build with it
enabled produces:

[CC] GkStatus.cxx
GkStatus.cxx:833:4: error: expected unqualified-id before 'else'
GkStatus.cxx:838:1: error: expected declaration before '}' token

Looking at
http://openh323gk.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/openh323gk/openh323gk/GkStatus.cxx?r1=1.132r2=1.133
 , the patch in the Debian package includes the removal of the old lines around
lines 833 and 843, but not the subsequent addition of the replacement lines.
This means that we end up with

void GkStatus::AuthenticateClient(StatusClient* newClient)
{

newClient-SetTraceLevel(GkConfig()-GetInteger(StatusTraceLevel,
MAX_STATUS_TRACE_LEVEL));
PTRACE(1, STATUS\tNew client authenticated successfully:

} else {
newClient-WriteString(\r\nAccess forbidden!\r\n);
// newClient-Flush(); // dont' flush when access is denied to

Bug#689212: unzip doesn't restore uid/gid

2012-09-30 Thread Axel Scheepers
Package: unzip
Version: 6.0-7
Severity: important

When unzipping a file with -X unzip doesn't restore uid/gid information

Bug#688059: samba: files not deleted, smbstatus segfaults

Quoting Oxan van Leeuwen (o...@oxanvanleeuwen.nl):

 retitle 688059 samba: files not deleted, smbstatus segfaults
 thanks

 Hi,

 I also experience this bug using 3.6.6. Not only makes it smbstatus
 segfault, it also makes deleting files impossible. It seems to be
 upstream bug 9058 (https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9058).

My only problem is that upstream bug #9058 seems to have two different
fixes:

https://attachments.samba.org/attachment.cgi?id=7809
https://attachments.samba.org/attachment.cgi?id=7817

Both are unrelated and I suspect both are needed. Nut I'm having hard
times just describing them.

Bug#689213: pbuilder: Deletes pbuilderrc's contents and then fails to configure under some circumstances

2012-09-30 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: pbuilder
Version: 0.212
Severity: grave
Justification: may cause data loss

Dear pbuilder Maintainers,

pbuilder fails to configure on wheezy (and sid) if /etc/pbuilderrc is a
symlink to /etc/pbuilder/pbuilderrc after it replaces
/etc/pbuilder/pbuilderrc with a symlink despite pbuilder/rewrite is set
to false.

   * What led up to the situation?

I have my pbuilder in a git repository. Hence the complete
/etc/pbuilder/ is under version control while /etc/pbuilderrc is not,
but a symlink to /etc/pbuilder/pbuilderrc (to have it under version
control).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I upgraded today pbuilder from 0.211 to 0.212. It asked me via debconf
if it should update pbuilderrc and I denied that question.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Setting up pbuilder (0.212) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/pbuilder.config: 40: /var/lib/dpkg/info/pbuilder.config:
cannot create /etc/pbuilderrc: Too many levels of symbolic links
dpkg: error processing pbuilder (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Processing triggers for menu ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 pbuilder

And, even worse: My real pbuilderrc has been deleted despite
pbuilder/rewrite being set to false:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Aug 23 21:53 /etc/pbuilder/pbuilderrc - ../pbuilderrc
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Sep 16 13:33 /etc/pbuilderrc - pbuilder/pbuilderrc

If I wouldn't have /etc/pbuilder/ in git but choosen that layout for
other reasons (and would have no other means of backup), my handcrafted
pbuilderrc would have been lost.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

That it just doesn't touch my handcrafted pbuilderrc independent of its
location and that it still would have looked like before:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 858 Sep 30 14:20 /etc/pbuilder/pbuilderrc
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  19 Sep 16 13:33 /etc/pbuilderrc - pbuilder/pbuilderrc

(A git checkout pbuilderrc and then a dpkg --configure --pending
solved the issue for me. Nevertheless this shouldn't happen.)

Bug#688212: fonts-inconsolata: Please update Inconsolata to version 1.011

Quoting Erik Bernstein (e...@fscking.org):
 Package: fonts-inconsolata

 Hi,

 I've noticed that in a few cases rxvt-unicode has problems with font
 fallback for some unicode characters with Inconsolata 1.010.

 You can reproduce the problem as follows:

 1. open a terminal and run urxvt -fn xft:inconsolata:medium:size=12
 2. execute: LANG=en_US.utf8 man groff | less -p bug-groff

 Have a look at the borked characters surrounding email-addresses and
 urls. With Inconsolata 1.011 everything seems to be fine.

Sorry for answering quite late.

First of all, we'll need to keep a new upstream only in experimental
as of now, because a new upstream version doesn't fit the freeze
policy.

Still, I'd be happy to package this new upstream versionif only I
could find a place to download it.

I went here and there on Raph Levien's website and the links on the
Inconsolata page all lead me to the 1.010 version.

Bug#633769: python-gtk2: crashes as soon as a call to set_events is done

2012-09-30 Thread Fabien Givors (Debian packages)
Hi,

Apparently, this is not a bug.

- It's not specific to this package since it can be reproduced with the
following C code:

---
#include gtk/gtk.h
#include gdk/gdk.h

int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
  gtk_init(argc, argv);
  GdkWindow* rootwin = gdk_get_default_root_window();

  gdk_window_set_events(rootwin, GDK_BUTTON_PRESS_MASK);

  gtk_main();

  return 0;
}
---

gcc -o test script.c -g $(pkg-config --libs gtk+-2.0 --cflags)
./test
The program 'test' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
  (Details: serial 111 error_code 10 request_code 2 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

- This happens when the event we try to grab is already listened by a
program (here, the window manager).

The following raises no problem:

Xephyr :3
DISPLAY=:3 ./test

But the bug is reproduced with

Xephyr :3
DISPLAY=:3 awesome
DISPLAY=:3 ./test

Where test is either the compiled C program or the following python code:

---
#!/usr/bin/env python
import gtk
rootwin = gtk.gdk.get_default_root_window()
rootwin.set_events(gtk.gdk.BUTTON_PRESS_MASK)
gtk.main()
---

Maybe this bug should be marked as done since it appears to be normal
behaviour for gtk2 [1].

Hi,

I'm looking around for an educational turtle graphics (logo)

What's the status of packaging the ~new~ version 6.0?

In any case it would be nice, if we could use a VCS, probably Git for this

if I'd start a Git repo for it on alioth?

Bug#689208: apt-cacher: Does also not download packages

2012-09-30 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: apt-cacher
Followup-For: Bug #689208

Hallo,

I tried to pinpoint the error, but I cannot:
After deleting the data dir, disabling this two options and running
dpkg-reconfigure apt-cacher to recreate the directories, the error is no longer
showing up.

Also re-enablign both options did not trigger the error again

# To enable data checksumming, install libberkeleydb-perl and set this option to
# 1. Then wait until the Packages/Sources files have been refreshed once (and so
# the database has been built up). You can also delete them from the cache to
# trigger the database update.
#
checksum = 1

# Importing checksums from new index files into the checksum database can cause
# high CPU usage on slower systems. This option sets a limit to the number of
# index files that are imported simultaneously, thereby limiting CPU load
# average, but, possibly, taking longer. Set to 0 for no limit.
#
concurrent_import_limit = 2

Bug#686547: unblock: calibre/0.8.64+dfsg-1

 outlined.

Did anybody say we intend to unblock 0.8.64?

 I didn't upload the update, because of the bugs mentioned in this bug
 report. There are basically two alternatives as it looks:

 1) Do a t-p-u for calibre fixing #653328 only. That's what I did, find a
 debdiff attached below (note, however, it needs a new original tarball).
 The full source and binary packages are available on [1]. Feel free to
 upload, or tell me to upload it if you want to go that track.

 2) Unblock 0.8.64+dfsg-1 which adds an entirely new upstream release
 which fixes the problems outlined in this bug, and ships
 quick_start.epub with liberated license terms - so no update is needed
 beyond umblocking calibre

There's a third:

3) upload to tpu a fix for whatever issues are serious enough, not just
#653328.

Hi,

I tried today to get the changelog for the keystone package, at a time
where the changelog wasn't yet available on packages.debian.org, and it
seems that apt-get tried to get it from my local mirror:

This is transient since now the changelog has appeared on p.d.o, but still,
mirror are not supposed to have the changelog anyway, afaict, so there's no
point checking them.

Thomas, you are welcome to adopt the ucblogo package if you wish.
I am not using it and not really active on packaging lately.

is. I can handle the unblock request on your behalf if you wish.

 Now the Spanish translation has been updated too.

Yep, that took some time, sorry for that. That's also why I send you
complete patch [0] (as an “approved to be uploaded” by the i18n team ;).

Bug#688212: fonts-inconsolata: Please update Inconsolata to version 1.011

2012-09-30 Thread erok
Hi Christian,

 Still, I'd be happy to package this new upstream versionif only I
 could find a place to download it.

Try google web fonts:

http://www.google.com/webfonts

- Search for Inconsolata
- Check both styles and click Add to Collection
- Click Download Your Collection

This should give you 1.011. At least that's what the .ttf tells me.

cheers,

  erik

Bug#689221: installation-reports: QNAP TS-409U does not reboot after installation

2012-09-30 Thread Luca Capello
Package: installation-reports
Severity: important
Usertags: pca.it-installation

Hi there!

Last Sunday (sorry for the delay, RL took most of my free time) I
upgraded the QNAP TS-409U to 4x2TB RAID-5 and LVM (no separate /boot
partition, given that the machine boots from flash) and thus proceeded
to a new installation. Unfortunately, after the installation finished
successfully, the machine did not reboot: the system light keeps
blinking red/green and network does not work.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca

Comments/Problems:

1) the QNAP did not take its IP from the DHCP server (dnsmasq_2.55-2,
   MAC address in /etc/ethers and IP in /etc/hosts, tested to work with
   different machines). While at the first time I did not spend so much
   time on this issue, thinking about a temporary problem on the
   internal network (which has not yet completely migrated to the
   dnsmasq-based infrastructure), it happened again later on. The DHCP
   server seems to work OK, but the QNAP does not accept the DHCP offer:

   Luckily, the network-console falls back to a static IP address
   (192.168.1.100), so I logged in via SSH and *manually* changed the
   configuration via `ip`. After the installation, however, /e/n/i
   contains the static values and not the manual one, which should be:

 http://bugs.debian.org/688650

   NB, I tried to use the Configure the network step, but this cut the
   SSH connection, which is why I ended up using `ip`.

2) the partition problem is not really a problem, but an annoyance:

Bug#689222: dietlibc: buffer overflow on armhf

2012-09-30 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: dietlibc-dev
Version: 0.33~cvs20120325-3
Severity: critical
Justification: buffer overflow

The ARM assembly version of sigsetjmp(3) can store up to 42 integers
into the jmp_buf, on armhf without NEON it will store 26 integers;
the dietlibc jmp_buf only has enough space for 24 integers; thus,
any use of sigsetjmp() or setjmp() will overwrite user data.

Patch follows. Apparently, it’s armhf fixing weekend (RCBW) for me.

Bug#689223: binutils-avr: Linker relaxations broken

2012-09-30 Thread Hans Schou
Package: binutils-avr
Version: 2.20.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Compiling LUFA demo VirtualSerialMassStorage.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

cd Demos/Device/ClassDriver/VirtualSerialMassStorage
make

   * What was the outcome of this action?

The packe did not compile reporting:

/usr/lib/gcc/avr/4.7.0/../../../avr/lib/avr51/crtusb1286.o: In function
`__bad_interrupt':
../../../../crt1/gcrt1.S:195: relocation truncated to fit: R_AVR_13_PCREL
against symbol `__vector_11' defined in .text.__vector_11 section in
../../../../LUFA/Drivers/USB/Core/AVR8/USBInterrupt_AVR8.o

There is a work around by removing the relaxe option from the build make file:
  perl -i -pe 's/-Wl,--relax//' LUFA/Build/lufa_build.mk

The more correct way is to patch 307 elf32-avr.c:
https://github.com/pld-linux/crossavr-binutils/blob/master/307-binutils-fix-AVRTC-424.patch

Above information is based on Dean Camera's explanation.

Bug#689224: libboost-all-dev: Please package boost 1.51.0

2012-09-30 Thread Wesley J. Landaker
Package: libboost-all-dev
Version: 1.49.0.1
Severity: wishlist

Boost is a wonderful package! Thanks for packaging it!

Right now, version 1.49.0.1 is in the archive, but there are some new
features and bug fixes in 1.50.0 and 1.51.0 (the latest as of this
writing) that are really important useful (such as Boost Context, better
C++11 support in many libraries including Boost Thread, etc).

So please package the newest version of Boost, because then we can all
use the awesome new features without compiling a local copy ourselves!

Bug#657395: Bug#680546: RFS: cinnamon/1.6.1-1 [ITP] -- Innovative and comfortable desktop

2012-09-30 Thread Nicolas Bourdaud
Hi Thomas!

On 30/09/2012 09:06, Thomas Goirand wrote:
 Your packaging git is on Github, any reason why you don't use Alioth
 instead?

I would definitively like to use Alioth instead of GitHub but when I did
the first version I was not sure about using collab-maint or a dedicated
project. Moreover at the time of this first version, I was not a DM yet
(I am now since 6 weeks) and I needed an advocate to join collab-maint
(if using collab-maint). So I thought it was better to find a sponsor to
figure out with him where to host the packaging sources.

 I've tried it (currently running it on my Wheezy laptop), and I like it! :)

I am happy that you like it. I think it is a good compromise between
GNOME 2 and GNOME shell and actually it best suits my need for daily
work: this is why I've packaged it.

 Did you take the packaging work directly from Mint? What exactly did you
 change from them?

Actually, I started initially from their package but I quickly
discovered that they did not put too much attention to the Debian
packaging: they've imported it from the Ubuntu gnome-shell package and
just minimally adapted to the need of the fork. There were few glitches.

So at that point I decided mainly to reuse only the dependency part of
their control file and to redo the rest:
Updating the new Debian policy
using dh sequencer instead of CDBS
Updating to the compatibility level of debhelper 9
Removing the useless break/replace fields
Making debian/copyright DEP5 compliant
fixing lintian warning/error
adding a working debian/watch
Adding a debug package
applied few patches that have been accepted stream in between
...

Well you can consider that besides reusing an updated dependency lists
in the control file and the same subdivision of packages, everything
else have been changed.

Do you consider to sponsor it? :-)

Cheers,

Nicolas Bourdaud

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for moodle (versioned as 2.2.3.dfsg-2.3) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/1. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

… and to help reviewing, these are the patches, cherry-picked from upstream's
branch if you want to comment.

Much appreciated, thank you for your help OdyX.

Bug#637256: cheese: Cheese crashes when switching from photo- to videomode

2012-09-30 Thread manuk7
Hi,

I'm unable to reproduce this bug with the current Wheezy version (3.4.2-1).
Could you check that it is still present please ?

If so, a backtrace could be usefull (
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace ).

Bug#606939: reopen 606939

2012-09-30 Thread Stefan Ott
reopen 606939
thanks

Hey

It seems this issue is still around, I hope you don't mind if I
re-open this bug. I have the exact same problem happening right now on
wheezy using an Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express
Graphics Controller (rev 03).

I tried downgrading libcairo2 since that seems to be a common source
for font rendering issues but it didn't help (I tried 1.10.2-7 which
was recommended in some other bug report). If you have any other ideas
for things to try, please let me know.

In case it matters, the Xorg log is attached.

cheers

Bug#683795: Error on downloading dailymotion videos

2012-09-30 Thread Cyril Roelandt

Hi,

Upstream recently fixed your issue (cf. the master branch). Youtube-dl
still fails with some Dailymotion videos, though. I submitted a patch
upstream (https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/issues/446), and I hope it
will be enough to fix it.

WBR,
Cyril Roelandt.
