Message transféré De: Vincent Lhote À: 697...@bugs.debian.org Sujet: Re: Bug#697334: Acknowledgement (scribus: Crash on startup if not opening a document) Date: Sun, 06 Jan 2013 11:17:22 +0900 Dear scribus maintainers, I just tried moving the .scribus directory again and restart, and this time it worked flawlessly. I removed the newly created .scribus and used the old one (after some comparison with meld, there was no major differences), and scribus does not crash on startup. I really don’t know what happened. I remember having done some system updates since I wanted to use scribus, but I’m not sure. I think the issue can be closed. Bug#698714: Configuring GOsa failed
close #698714 thanks Am Donnerstag, 24. Januar 2013, 21:30:38 schrieb Csanyi Pal: I finally have successfully Configured GOsa. Can one expect in the future that this Configuration works out of the box, or at least to get an user more help during the configuration process? The configuration works out of the box, but you've to know a few bits about how your infrastructure works. The setups may be very different, the GOsa package is not meant as an appliance that just works like fire and forget. Bug#698911: pdns-backend-pgsql: Default schema for pdns-backend-pgsql needs update
Package: pdns-backend-pgsql Version: 3.1-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, Debian’s default schema for pdns-backend-pgsql specifies that the records.content column be varchar(255). That is insufficient for some records, such as RRSIG RRs used with dnssec. Upstream has updated to varchar(65535), although text also would be find. When using deb’s version of pdns as an axfr slave nameserver, pdns will be unable to save the zones which have been dnssec-signed by the master server into the records table, blocking operation for such zones completely. (pdns tries to save the AXFR data in a SQL TRANSACTION; because the RRSIG and other longer records fail to fit in the varchar(255), the transaction fails and pgsql does a ROLLBACK instead when pdns issues its COMMIT.) Simply ALTERing the records table to set the TYPE of contents to text or to varchar(65535) makes everything just work. It is likely that this bug also applies to the related pdns-backend-mysql and pdns-backend-sqlite packages, but I have not confirmed so. The fix for new installs is a simple one-line change to the default schema as described above. Existing installs which choose automatic maintainance of the pdns db, though, should be updated by way of an: ALTER TABLE records ALTER COLUMN content TYPE VARCHAR(65535); (translated as necessary for the other backends, if they indeed also have this bug.) *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? *** End of the template - remove these lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages pdns-backend-pgsql depends on: ii dbconfig-common1.8.47+nmu1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.49 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libgcc11:4.7.2-5 ii libpolarssl0 1.1.4-1 ii libpq5 9.1.7-1 ii libssl1.0.01.0.1c-4 ii libstdc++6 4.7.2-5 ii pdns-server3.1-4 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 Versions of packages pdns-backend-pgsql recommends: ii postgresql-client-9.1 [postgresql-client] 9.1.7-1 Versions of packages pdns-backend-pgsql suggests: pn postgresql none -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#698914: grub-efi booting Windows 8 in UEFI mode
Package: grub-efi Version: 1.99-26 Severity: important Hi, On a new machine that came pre-configured with UEFI and Windows 8 (Lenovo G580), I've installed Debian dual-boot and grub-efi works well for booting that Debian system. However, the menu entries created for Windows on this machine (the primary Windows installation and the recovery partition) both fail to boot with the same message: error: unknown command `drivemap'. error: invalid EFI file path. Press any key to continue... The grub.cfg entries for these are: ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### menuentry Windows Recovery Environment (loader) (on /dev/sda3) --class windows --class os { insmod part_gpt insmod fat set root='(hd0,gpt3)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root 4411-65A9 drivemap -s (hd0) ${root} chainloader +1 } menuentry Windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda5) --class windows --class os { insmod part_gpt insmod ntfs set root='(hd0,gpt5)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root A48815AD88157ECC drivemap -s (hd0) ${root} chainloader +1 } ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### I'm guessing drivemap isn't a valid thing in grub-efi and this would work in BIOS mode? Based on information found from a web search, I've added by hand an extra stanza to load the main Windows 8 entry in UEFI mode: ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### # This file provides an easy way to add custom menu entries. Simply type the # menu entries you want to add after this comment. Be careful not to change # the 'exec tail' line above. menuentry Windows (UEFI) { search --set=root --file /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi } ### END /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### and this works flawlessly for me. I don't know how easy this would be to integrate into os-prober; does that know that it's running on an EFI system at all? It would be lovely to get this sorted for Wheezy... :-) -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages grub-efi depends on: ii grub-common 1.99-26 ii grub-efi-amd64 1.99-26 grub-efi recommends no packages. grub-efi suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I asked: A question: what is the use or significance of vm_highmem_is_dirtyable? It seems odd that it would be used in setting limits or threshholds, but not used in decisions where to put dirty things. Is that so, is that as should be? Note that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is usually already set by fakeroot, so a warning might not be appropriate. Oh right, I was already considering some heuristic to avoid bogus warnings, as in only warn if the new method is used and LD_LIBRARY_PATH is defined or something like that, but given that all/most builds will be using fakeroot, that would always trigger. Also removing support for LD_LIBRARY_PATH could break old builds in strange and difficult to diagnose ways, so there's no much point in nagging about it. Instead this should probably be handled by a lintian check so that people (not using debhelper) switch. Bug#698930: lintian: Have $info-index follow (safe) symlinks transparently
Package: lintian Version: 2.5.11 Severity: wishlist Currently, the use of $info-index ('some/path') does not give any result if some is a symlink to a(n existing/known) directory in the package. Consider: debian - debian-packaging debian-packaging/control Here, $info-index ('debian/control') will return undef. It is possible $info-index should have an opt-out variant for cases where symlinked paths are not permitted[1]. Anyway, I believe this would greatly simply usage of $info-index for usage of (non-broken) symlinks. Particularly would make it easier to migrate our existing source checks which are currently using opendir on the actual unpacked package (without causing regressions)[2]. ~Niels [1] Perhaps usr/share/doc/pkg/copyright ? Under the assumption that if pkg is a symlink, it should generally be a symlink to a foreign package. Package: ocl-icd-libopencl1 Suggests: opencl-icd # require explicit installation of an icd Once pocl (a free implementation of OpenCL) will be accepted in unstable (package in collab-maint nearly ready to be uploaded to unstable), ocl-icd-libopencl1 will recommends pocl-icd | opencl-icd Package: vendor-libopencl1: Recommends: vendor-opencl-icd, opencl-icd # user probably wants exactly this if he installs vendor driver # and switching loader vendors should not orphan foreign icds (yes, comma, not pipe) I do not see the interest of the comma. vendor-opencl-icd will provides opencl-icd in the usual case. And this little program is a plain OpenCL programs that can work with all OpenCL implementations. I would propose : Package: amd-clinfo Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 | libopencl1 Suggests: opencl-icd Maybe we should provide some more virtual packages in the -icd packages: opencl-icd-gpgpu // or is there a better term that covers // Nvidia GTX xyz, Nvidia Tesla, Radeon HD wxyz opencl-icd-gpgpu-$VENDOR opencl-icd-cpu opencl-icd-cpu-$CPUVENDOR I'm not sure we will have really useful virtual package. I do not have strong opinion on this part. Would it be useful to make clinfo M-A: same co-installable? Rename the binaries to clinfo-$ARCH or $ARCH-clinfo (fsvo ARCH, maybe better the multiarch triplet) and a clinfo wrapper script that runs the one for the primary arch (and thereafter for the secondary arches ?) Maybe amend the output a bit if there are more than one binary to be run, but keep the original output if there is only one. Is there other examples of user (ie in PATH) binary programs that are M-A: same co-installable? If we go this path, I think we must talk with people more involved in M-A to be sure to use a correct set of conventions. Bug#698933: hangs on 'Configuring APT'
Package: Debian-6.0.6-amd64-netinst.iso Hi. I recently attempted to install Debian (for the first time) lastest stable small CD. Debian-6.0.6-amd64-netinst.iso. Machine is as below, W7 installed, Debian resize partition used. However, the install hangs on 'Configuring APT' about 50%, when trying to download 'file 5 of 5'. Tried other mirrors, same problem. I found this bug Bug#389285 from 2006 which was closed. However, this appears to be the same bug 7 years on? Please advise. Would a large complete DVD install avoid the configuring APT step? I bootstrapped this system using debootstrap. Well there's really not enough information here to know what went wrong, but I have a really hard time seeing this as a dpkg problem. Yes, I really wonder what info should I collect in such case. Do you have libc6-dev for the target architecture? Actually why do you have a /lib/libc.so.6? that should be on a multiarch path, did you build a local libc that got installed there while bootstrapping? If so then you'd need to remove that and then close this bug report. :) The problem really is /lib/libc.so.6 unowned by any package which is not immediately obvious from the dpkg-shlibdeps output. Bug#698249: dpkg-dev: dpkg-source could support 7z compressed files
Control: tags -1 wontfix Control: user d...@packages.debian.org Control: usertags -1 dpkg-source dsc-format On Tue, 2013-01-15 at 22:17:42 +, Julian Gilbey wrote: Package: dpkg-dev Version: 1.16.9 Severity: wishlist It would be nice if dpkg-source could support 7z compressed files. Hmm, I really do understand the desire and benefit of adding more compression formats support to dpkg-source, as it avoids having to repack the original source tarball, and in this way checksums or upstream signatures are preserved, it might also improve compression ratio compared to previous supported compressions. But then the costs of adding support for an additional compression format are quite high, to the point that those benefits seem small compared to them. The costs are (at least): increase in the build-essential set; the new compression becomes part of the source format forver, as it can never be taken back as old Debian packages or 3rd-party packages in the wild might be using that format; it's another (uncommon) package required on non-Debian-based systems to be able to handle those source packages. Given the above, that I don't think 7z is widely used to distribute source (?), and that it does not improve compression ratio over xz, I'll be tagging this wontfix for now (and probably close after a bit, as I'm adding this into a new dpkg FAQ on the wiki), note though that if say, the uptake of 7z in upstream releases would increase substantally I'd be open to reconsider this. Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: binnmu nmu grib-api_1.9.16-2 . ALL . -m Rebuilt with the default gfortran. Closes: #695727 When fortran compilers build a library, they generate a .mod file that is a kind of header file. The syntax of those .mod files changes from compiler to compiler, and at least in the case of gfortran, from version to version of the compiler. grib-api has been built with gfortran 4.6, and the default is now 4.7. Other fortran libraries in wheezy like netcdf are already built with 4.7. In order to be able to compile software that uses both netcdf and grib-api, grib-api needs to be rebuilt with gfortran 4.7. Bug#695982: pkg-vala membership request on alioth
Hello Mathias Hasselmann! I noticed you're a pkg-vala alioth project admin and talked to you on IRC. I've an outstanding request for updating libgee in Debian experimental at: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=695982 Unfortunately I've not been able to find anyone who can deal with this, except for Michael Biebl who looked at the patch I attached and acknowledged that it looked ok (but that upstream was doing weird stuff). I'm willing to do the work here, if permitted. I've previously requested membership via alioth to the pkg-vala group (without reply). It would be nice if you could promote Michael Biebl (biebl) to be a project admin. He's well known and very active within the Debian project. It will not use the full terminal width, but instead use its minimum histogram width of 10 chars. $ diff -urNad pp-1.6.2 pp-1.6.3 | COLUMNS=20 diffstat Aah, but here you are explicitly setting the COLUMNS value. My point was that, unless you do something to explicitly expose COLUMNS to diffstat, it isn't available. In your first sample, if you ran it under gdb, you would find that the fetch of the COLUMNS environment var returned NULL. You can demonstrate that simply by just running env | grep COLUMNS. COLUMNS is an automatic / magic variable, at least in bash, and is not exported to sub-processes by default, so fetching it from a sub-process is not a functional way to query the terminal size. I don't know if other shells behave differently from bash in that regard. My point to the report is that if diffstat wants to find out the terminal size, it should actually query the terminal, instead of hoping that the user would have told their shell to tell diffstat what the terminal size is. If I have to manually send the COLUMNS variable to diffstat, it's no better than a command line option. Exporting COLUMNS from the shell by default is a poor option, I think, because it can cause many programs you might launch from the shell to then not react to terminal size changes, as they will treat having it set as a request to override whatever the reported terminal size is. I actually use that feature sometimes to make reading man pages easier in otherwise very large terminal windows. If using the termcap type facilities is too heavy weight for diffstat, it could farm out to stty or some other program that does query the terminal size properly.
Bug#696877: installation-reports: Wheezy DI-b4-amd64-netboot-mini.iso from an usb stick fails trying to install grub
On Thursday 24 January 2013, Paul Bryan Roberts wrote: I do like the idea that the grub install in most cases will be to the device with the root partition for the installation just made BUT that would not work with my RAIDed machines. yes, this was just the second part of my idea. I was just dreaming about a *menu* of partitions to install grub to (just to overcome the present problem) and set the *default* selection on that menu on the /boot device or / device of the system just installed, because for my experience this is the majority of the use cases, so letting the installer propose a sane default would be desiderable. modifying the grub install default, autodetermining where to install and *don't* leaving the final word to the user doing the install is not the correct way, IMHO, to resolve this issue. In addition, it would be nice to do a multiselection in this selection menu, to be able to install grub in the boot sector of mirrored disks when using the software-raid present in linux. this was just my idea. Bug#698944: lintian: Add check for i18n/l10n package names
Package: lintian Version: 2.5.12 Severity: wishlist Hi! There seems to be some confusion when it comes to naming localization packages. Internationalization is the code or process of changing a project to allow support for localization. Localization is the stuff the specific teams do to localize the software to their own locale, like translations, specific images, sounds or voices, etc. Given this, it would be nice if an error is emitted when a localization packages, those containing only *.mo, *.qm, langpack.*\.xpi, or localized man pages under /usr/share/man/LL/* is named as «.*-i18n(-.*)?», and ask to rename to -l10n. And to try to get our namespace unified, it would also be nice if any packages containing only those files listed above, not named -l10n would get a warning. We currently have a mix of naming conventions, with -locales being the less used one. Bug#696816: jenkins: Security issues were found in Jenkins core
Hi there, The issue was raised on debian-devel[0] that this bug still affects unstable and is causing jenkins to be a candidate for removal from wheezy. I have backported the fixes for these issues from upstream git; they are attached to this e-mail as separate quilt patches for the sake of cleanliness. I have also uploaded a source NMU package[1] to mentors.debian.net, which I intend to seek sponsorship for if I don't get a reply to this bug report within 72 hours (as the deadline given by the Release Team for removal from testing is 31st January). Please let me know if you need anything further from me. Thanks, Steven. [0] Thread Candidates for removal from testing (2013-01-24), which doesn't seem to be in the web archives yet. I see strftime.c but the error is in mktime.c, and (at least the copy I am looking at right now) the former doesn’t #include the latter. Oh, sorry, my buildd setup sets DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS to parallel=3, so the command to compile mktime.c was actually on the line before what I quoted. ../../../lib/mktime.c:170:3: error: size of array 'a' is negative make[4]: *** [mktime.o] Error 1 I’d rather know why it tries to build mktime.c at all. You see, this flavour of CVS comes from MirBSD, which (on i386) has the same situation: sizeof(int) == sizeof(long) == 4, whereas sizeof(time_t) == sizeof(long long) == 8. To get the configure check AC_FUNC_MKTIME passing, I had to fix some things in libc first (one of which was to use “time_t” instead of “long” for struct tm.tm_year, IIRC). That solved the issue of gnulib trying to replace mktime. How about that instead? Doing a search for mktime in the build log, I see ac_cv_func_working_mktime=no in the configure line... Although even if I remove that, and force an autoreconf to make sure the mktime test is up to date, the mktime test times out. Oddly, though, if I extract that test to a standalone .c file and compile it -O0 then it works, but if I compile it -O2 it times out again. Putting in debugging output, it appears it's calling bigtime_test(MIN_INT) and then bigtime_test(0) repeatedly, so it looks like some compiler bug is happening here. I'm currently using gcc-4.7 4.7.2-18 from experimental (or actually gcc-4.7_4.7.2-18+x32 from unreleased which is an exact copy other than the version). Actually, it looks like I can even reproduce it just with: extern int foo(); void test_fn() { int i; for (i = 1; 0 i; i *= 2) foo(i); } I'm going to have to test with the current 4.7.2-19 on amd64 and see if the problem persists there. But even with the -O0 version most of the localtime calls are failing because tm.tm_year is an int in [e]glibc, so it's probably not actually testing much. -- Daniel Schepler -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
