django-guardian was removed from testing on 2014-10-28 so it won't be in
jessie.

There is HTML output (which you are already using) and ODT output. Both
are in some sense XML. I didn't work through how to get uncompressed XML
from the ODT export, but attached find README.org converted to XML by
extracting from the zip file produced by default. I had a quick look and
the HTML output is indeed XHTML.

Installed i386 version of Jessie, selected MATE desktop. Upon booting,

Upon reboot, this started, but calmed down enough to let MATE load. I
installed the wrong firmware package, rebooted, and could never get

Re-ran installation but chose XFCE instead. Started to have scrolling

 scrolling

Bottom line is it installed a system that wouldn't boot without
firmware (or a lot of luck.)

Hello Tim,

Good install report. Thanks for bringing this issue up.
I, as in I personaly, think that will be hard to resolve without
access to the hardware. So right now the only thing you know
is that someone has seen your bugreport and took time to acknowledge it.

I have some questions:

Installed i386 version of Jessie, selected MATE desktop. Upon booting,
just got infinite loop of iwlwifi trying to find firmware.

Was that a warm reboot? ( Was it without a power cycle? )

How was iwlwifi trying to find firmware shown to you? ( How did you
know what was inside the infinite loop? )

 Upon reboot, this started,

Was that a cold reboot? ( Was it with turning-off and on again? )

Now imagine people that did a websearch on
 linux 8086:4222

I got the right firmware in and no more scrolling

What is the right firmware for the wifi device?
Where did you get it?

Would have https://www.debian.org/releases/jessie/i386/ch06s04.html.en
helped?

Thanks. Does not look like something is broken (except for having the
nvidia packages installed manually on a system that does not support

Although some of them has been installed manually, for the first time
the nvidia packages just appeared after one of (dist?) upgrades. The
first trace of them is from August:

Mon, Aug 4 2014 16:15:15 +0200
[INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] libnvidia-compiler:i386
...
[INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] nvidia-libopencl1:i386
[INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] nvidia-opencl-common:i386
[INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] nvidia-opencl-icd:i386

To fix your system, either uninstall the nvidia packages (they are not
useful on your system anyway)

Can I remove all of the packages listed above?

or switch back to mesa:
 update-alternatives --config glx
and select mesa

This worked - thank you very much!

To be more precise, it almost worked: the monitor is not recognized
although it used to be. This is definitely another topic but I would
appreciate very much your advice, especially as I have systematically
such a problem on another computer: to which package should I submit the
issue?

I don't think I can express this with package relationships:

libgl1-nvidia-glx needs to be installed
 (1) together with xserver-xorg-video-nvidia (and xserver-xorg-core)
 (regular installation on a host)
 (2) OR without xserver-xorg-core (and xserver-xorg-video-nvidia)
(i.e. libraries from a foreign architecture only or in a chroot
  without own xserver)
i.e. only the combination
 install libgl1-nvidia-glx:native
 install xserver-xorg-core:native
 no-install xserver-xorg-video-nvidia
should be forbidden.

I'm still intrigued by the message which I definitely seen on the
console during an upgrade, which was definitely about a nvidia package
and which is not present in /var/apt/log. The problem appeared
immediately after this routine upgrade. Perhaps by my actions I made it
worst, but the primary reason was (is?) somewhere in the system.

Once again I thank you very much for your help.

Janusz

Bug#769759: gnome-session continuously logs the contents of documents in home to syslog

2014-11-16 Thread L. Guruprasad
Package: gnome-session
Version: 3.14.0-2
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

My system froze suddenly after recent package upgrades and rebooted
automatically. After reboot I checked the contents of syslog and found that
gnome-session is logging the contents of various PDF files and documents
present in my Downloads folder.

Here is a sample of the log:

snip
Nov 16 13:52:08 kal-el gnome-session[2414]: is book to prepare for programming
interviews: \n \n Give yourself enough time to prepare. Start your
preparations as early as possible, ideally weeks or even months ahead of your
interviews. You need that time to practice the concepts presented here. (If you
don’t have the luxury of that much time, try to put aside some blocks of
uninterrupted time to study the material.) \n Practice answering problems.
Don’t just read through the solutions. Work through the problems using the
solutions for a hint when you get stuck and to verify your answer. Try to
simulate the interview experience. Most of the time you’ll be writing code on
paper or a whiteboard; practice this! It sounds silly, but it takes some
practice to get the programming part of your brain engaged through a pen
instead of a keyboard. \n Make sure you understand the underlying concepts.
Understanding the concepts that underlie the problems is the key to your
success. Don’
t skip or gloss over the material you don’t understand. This book provides
enough of an explanation to refresh your memory of topics you’ve learned
before, but if you encounter something you’ve completely forgotten or never
learned, you may need to read more about it in another reference. \n Don’t
bother memorizing the answers to the problems. Interviewers are unlikely to
present you with any of the problems in this book. Even if they do, they may
change the problem in any number of small ways. If you answer it by rote, your
answer may be incorrect. \n Keep practicing. Your preparation doesn’t stop
after finishing this book. Keep working on programming problems; they’re easy
to find on the Internet. Find additional reference material, especially in your
areas of expertise, and keep reading. \n \n Your health and well-being is your
most important asset; it affects how well you learn and how well you interview.
Remember to get enough sleep — especially close to an inte
rview date — and to exercise and eat properly. Take regular breaks to help
your mind integrate

Yes, purging libvirt-bin and libvirt-daemon-system and then reinstalling
 them fixed the problem.

BTW, should not this upgrade path be supported, even if the user changes
/etc/init.d/libvirt-bin? If not, feel free to close the bug.

It would be nice to support this, we're using dpkg-maintscript-helper
for the common case but this case involves moving over the modified
config file _and_ changing it to pull in the correct defaults
file. I'd to see patches for this since I'm currently lacking the time
to work on it.

Definitely, yes. The patch from the other bug is applied, which is

Hi,

I suppose the purpose of the } else if(new File(...) is to keep the
current behaviour of using ./xslthl-config.xml if it exists (in
preference to the global one).

On a related note, if xslthl-config.xml is a file that the end user
might want to change (i.e. it contains configuration), then the Debian
package should look for it in /etc (possibly falling back to the
/usr/share one if the /etc variant does not exist).

I was right :-)

Although some of them has been installed manually, for the first time
the nvidia packages just appeared after one of (dist?) upgrades. The
first trace of them is from August:

 Mon, Aug 4 2014 16:15:15 +0200
 [INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] nvidia-libopencl1:i386
 [INSTALL, DEPENDENCIES] nvidia-opencl-icd:i386

Something OpenCL related pulled these in - I think we have changed the
dependencies since then on the OpenCL parts globally to prevent pulling
in bits of the non-free drivers just for getting a libOpenCL.so.1 as
some dependency (you can manually select to install the proprietary
ones, though).

Can I remove all of the packages listed above?

these and glx-diversions and glx-alternative-*, maybe some more :-)
If something needs a libopencl1, use ocl-icd-libopencl1 instead of the
nvidia one.

I don't think any of the debconf messages used by the nvidia driver
would have been displayed in your case.

Bug#717228: t1utils: stackunderflow -17

 Hi,

The output of t1disasm is used to review whether the code is subject to
license issues. The output is a raw text format and is not suitable as
a replacement of the original file (which you seem to suggest that you
 expect it to be)!

I do not see any fault in t1disasm based on the information you provided
so far (nor do I see the stackunderflow -17 anyway despite it being
 the title of the bug?).

Hi,

I have not heard from you about this issue in the past month.
Currently, I am waiting for more information from you before I can
determine if this is an actual issue in the package or not.

If I have not heard from you in another month, I will probably close
this bug due to insufficient information.

Bug#767541: jenkins: CVE-2014-3665

2014-11-16 Thread beuc
Hi from the Paris Bugs Squashing Party :)

In order to help people who participate, can you (jenkins' maintainer)
describe what you intend to do, and if help is possible?

From what I understand:
- The security ~fix is a new slave-master access control system
- Jenkins releases a LTS version every 3 months
- Debian currently doesn't ship the current LTS from last month, but
the one before, which doesn't seem supported anymore.
- Options that I see are either pushing the current LTS in Debian,
backporting the new access control system, or drop the package.

Let us know what is your suggested course of action.

Cheers!
Sylvain

Bug#769763: gnome-session-flashback: leaves alternatives after purge: x-session-manager - /usr/lib/gnome-panel/gnome-session-flashback

2014-11-16 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: gnome-session-flashback
Version: 3.14.0-1
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

The leftover files are actually alternatives that were installed by the
package but have not been properly removed.

While there is ongoing discussion how to remove alternatives correctly
(see https://bugs.debian.org/71621 for details) the following strategy
should work for regular cases:
* 'postinst configure' always installs the alternative
* 'prerm remove' removes the alternative
* 'postrm remove' and 'postrm disappear' remove the alternative
In all other cases a maintainer script is invoked (e.g. upgrade,
deconfigure) the alternatives are not modified to preserve user
configuration.
Removing the alternative in 'prerm remove' avoids having a dangling link
once the actual file gets removed, but 'prerm remove' is not called in
all cases (e.g. unpacked but not configured packages or disappearing
packages) so the postrm must remove the alternative again
(update-alternatives gracefully handles removal of non-existing
alternatives).

Note that the arguments for adding and removing alternatives differ, for
removal it's 'update-alternatives --remove name path'.

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

Bug#761509: fix for jessie?

2014-11-16 Thread Petr Salinger

It would be good to have this fixed for jessie.
Correct handling of denormals which are controlled via this register is
very important for the performance of e.g. audio applications.

If we have a patch I guess it can still be included for Jessie.

It is slightly different to #761175 as the initial value of sse
control word is same in main() and in newly created thread.

The posix says (since Issue 6)
http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/functions/pthread_create.html

The floating-point environment shall be inherited from the creating thread.

I am unsure whether the proper fix should be in libc or kernel.
Especially as there might be more and more CPU specific settings.

IIRC, nowadays udev rules changes are picked up on new udev events
anyway. So, it may be that simply removing ekeyd.postrm would do
the job.

But anyway, a smaller fix may be better suited for a freeze exception:
simply adding || true at the end of each udevadm or udevcontrol
pipeline should be enough. What do you think?

Here's a patch (against gnome-do) that simply removes the 'about'

The fix is trivial. Attached is a proposal. Do you think this is ok to
 put in wheezy?

This needs to be fixed in unstable first, and migrated to Jessie.

Bug#769767: ITP: imageio -- Library for reading and writing a wide range of image formats

2014-11-16 Thread Ghislain Antony Vaillant
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ghislain Antony Vaillant ghisv...@gmail.com

* Package name: imageio
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : Almar Klein
* URL : http://imageio.github.io/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Library for reading and writing a wide range of image
formats

Long description taken from the upstream website:
Imageio is a Python library that provides an easy interface to read and write a
wide range of image data, including animated images, volumetric data, and
scientific formats. It is cross-platform, runs on Python 2.x and 3.x, and is
easy to install.

The rationales behind the development of this library are explained in [1]. The
upstream author considers the code base mature after 2 years of development and
recently released it as a 1.0.

I believe this package to be a good fit for the numerical-computation blend
from the Debian-science project, and should be maintained by the Debian science
team.

I've rated this serious because it makes the network unusable when it
happens and it requires a user with root privileges to rectify it.

IMO, given the unusual settings in which the problem happens, severity
 should rather be important:

a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package,
without rendering it completely unusable to everyone.

I'll let the maintainers judge, though.

Two weeks later, I'm going ahead and downgrading severity.

Indeed, NetworkManager has no way to guess that it should not touch
resolv.conf in this specific case. Your OpenSWAN VPN isn't managed by
 NM, is it?

Could you please try checking Use this connection only for resources
on its network in the NM settings of your Wi-Fi connection, and see
if it fixes things for you?

Also, I think the right way to integrate NM with other tools that want
to manage resolv.conf too is to use resolvconf, which NM supposedly
supports nowadays. May you please test if this works for you?

Cheers,

Bug#769770: gnome: Autostart files disappear after login

2014-11-16 Thread Aiko Barz
Package: gnome
Version: 1:3.14+1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I want to start the program rygel after logging into a Gnome 3 session
automatically. gnome-session-properties disappeared with Gnome-3.12, so I tried
to do it the Terminal way:

$ ln -s /usr/share/applications/rygel.desktop ~/.config/autostart/
or
$ cp /usr/share/applications/rygel.desktop ~/.config/autostart/

It works, but the file ~/.config/autostart/rygel.desktop disappears every time
after logging into the Gnome Session.

Is this intentionally?

Kind regards,
Aiko Barz

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release

Package: release.debian.org

Dear release team,

here a bit more difficult unblock request for
texlive-bin

The last update I uploaded missed the freeze, but contains several pulls
from upstream svn that would be very useful to have in the next stable
release. The changelog lists the upstream changes:
+ * cherrypick fixes from upstream svn:
+- fix enctex reading \^^ab control sequences
+- fix mpost reading fontmap file multiple times (Closes: #767967)
+- dvipdfmx fixes:
+ . fix pk support
+ . correct behaviour for subtractions in pkfont.c
+ . fix crash when gqpn is unset
+ . support for ghostscript 9.15
+ . fix bug in spc_dvips_at_end_page (wrong logic)
+ * bump standards version, no changes necessary

(full debdiff attached)

All of these fixes are properly documented in the ChangeLog files changed
by the respective patches in debian/patches/upstream-svnN-desc

Thanks for your consideration

Norbert

Bug#769774: fs-uae-netplay-server: unowned directories after purge: /var/{cache, log}/fs-uae-netplay-server/

2014-11-16 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: fs-uae-netplay-server
Version: 2.4.1+ds-2
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned
directories on the system after purge, which is a violation of
policy 6.8:

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

The maintainer scripts create (and later remove) a file in that
directory. Manual directory removal may be not appropriate as this
directory is shared between several packages.

If the package would ship this as an empty directory, dpkg would take
care of the creation and removal (if it's empty).

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

0m30.8s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /var/cache/fs-uae-netplay-server/ not owned
  /var/log/fs-uae-netplay-server/not owned

cheers,

Andreas

Thank you very much for the heads-up! I will address this issue once I
will upload a new upstream release which will not happen before Jessie
is released though.

Bug#764005: targetcli: Upgrade issues from 2.1-1

 Hi Ritesh,

Things do indeed seem better now, but still not quite right… Leaving my
existing configuration loaded (by manually preventing the lio-utils

 me the following now instead:

 targetcli GIT_VERSION (rtslib GIT_VERSION)

This GIT_VERSION things is something I'd like to fix. But given the
freeze I'm not sure if an exception will be allowed.

My plan is to get a new version in experimental (as about how me and
Jerome have discussed) and then maybe ask Release Team for an exception.

Bug#768164: [Pkg-haskell-maintainers] Bug#768164: haskell-tls: SSLv3 support

2014-11-16 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Hi Joachim,

openssl disabled it entirely; it features a dedicated build flag for it
  (no-ssl3).

Ok, I think we can easily follow suit here. Removing code is always
 simple :-)

Could you approach haskell-tls upstream for their recommendation to
  disable it?

Vincent, did you consider this issue already?

Upstream has removed SSLv3 from the default cipher list:
https://github.com/vincenthz/hs-tls/commit/5353bd2f717a31fd63c2a5d67112d8d8279bd1e6

Can you at least make an upload to sid that incorporates this patch so we
can get it into jessie?

Disabling it entirely is then of course still an option but removing it
from the defaults list is already a big win.

Cheers,
Thijs

Control: tag -1 +patch

Hi from the Paris Bugs Squashing Party :)

It seems that the current code relies on functions not available in
Uglify anymore:

$ grep -ir ast_mangle /usr/lib/nodejs/uglify-js/
$ grep -ir ast_squeeze /usr/lib/nodejs/uglify-js/

So probably the package.json is incorrect.

The attached attached patch appears to work, I just followed

Fantastic. This should be easy to backport/integrate.

I confirm that the attached patch applies cleanly on top of

If Bdale can't take care of it shortly, does anyone affected (who can

Dear Maintainer,

Debian-Testing is still not installable for me only expert-installation is

(because of IPv6?) and then it failed at the step of installing tasks, so
I set it up by upgrading Stable, but several problems showed.
For example Grub was not installable on a BTRFS-root-filesystem and XFS is not
upgradeable
from Kernel 3.2 to 3.16 .
But inspite of that it worked out in the end with ext4 and even
firmware-linux-nonfree did
not break the radeon-graphics as reported there:

Comments/Problems:

t would be much nicer to set up Jessie/beta directly, but well, as long as
UEFI-boot-problems persist, everyone has to be patient, I guess.

Upon upgrading to Testing, there was one broken or half-installed package and
kernel 3.16
had to be set up manually.

Definitely, yes. The patch from the other bug is applied, which is
supposed to be the fix for the CVE though. Unfortunately the only

As WebRTC is an evolving technology this package is best supported by
upstream or somebody who is using it actively and able to update the
package promptly after upstream releases.

Bug#769780: (pre-approval for) unblock: vmdebootstrap/0.5-1

2014-11-16 Thread Neil Williams
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

I'd like to close two important bugs in vmdebootstrap and upload
to unstable to migrate these changes into jessie:

#767196 - downgrade dependency on grub2-common (used for grub2
support inside vm images) to a Recommends: to allow for users
who are running grub-legacy.

#767913 - one character change to the grub2 support to allow
a boot partition to be used in a VM image using grub2.

Both fixes would also be considered for an update to the existing
wheezy-backport, once migrated into jessie.

The current package limits users of grub-legacy to not be able
to use grub2 in VM images, so this needs to be expressed in the
manpage. So I'm proposing to make a new upstream release with the
patch from 767913 applied, the changes for 767196 made in debian/control
and updates to the grub2 section of the manpage made upstream.

If these changes are not likely to be approved, I'll work on a range
of the other bugs filed against vmdebootstrap and make a 0.5 upstream
tag and release to upload to experimental only. So the debdiff is
not complete at this stage but will contain:

Bug#767541: jenkins: CVE-2014-3665

Hi Sylvain,

Le 16/11/2014 11:26, b...@debian.org a écrit :
Hi from the Paris Bugs Squashing Party :)

Thank you for helping!

In order to help people who participate, can you (jenkins' maintainer)
describe what you intend to do, and if help is possible?

 - The security ~fix is a new slave-master access control system
 - Jenkins releases a LTS version every 3 months
 - Debian currently doesn't ship the current LTS from last month, but
the one before, which doesn't seem supported anymore.
 - Options that I see are either pushing the current LTS in Debian,
backporting the new access control system, or drop the package.

Let us know what is your suggested course of action.

The new LTS is probably too big to be pushed to testing now. As an
alternative I'm considering either disabling the master/slave mechanism,
or adding a big red warning in the UI to inform the user about the risks.

No, that’s not okay. The postrm script MUST NOT call udev to reload
the rules directly AIUI. All dæmon invocations need to go through
invoke-rc.d, because otherwise, actions e.g. in chroots can affect
the outside system.

Bug#769781: polarssl: disable SSLv3 also in jessie

2014-11-16 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: polarssl
Version: 1.3.8-1
Severity: important
Tags: security

Hi Roland,

I see that SSLv3 has been disabled in polarssl/1.3.9-2 in sid, excellent.
However, it's really desirable to have this fix also in jessie.

Given that unstable has a new upstream release with many changes, I think
it's
unlikely that the release team will unblock 1.3.9-2. Can you maybe prepare an
update 1.3.8-1+deb8u1 for testing-proposed-updates that disables SSLv3 only?

Cheers,
Thijs

Here is a sample of the log:

I personally doubt gnome-session is responsible for this, but that the
logs are forwarded to syslog on its behalf.

Could you please see if you can find the 1st line in the logs, it could
have more information about which program has generated this. Also
could you have a look in the journal (use journalctl command, by
default it only contains the logs from the last boot).

As this is being fixed in the next upstream release, I'm downgrading the

Users of jessie can workaround this by building the package from the Git

Bug#768515: Add Local/Web Video commands do not work

If I use the Add Local Video or Add Web Video command to add a file or
URL to the playlist, totem does not play it and does not show any
error in the GUI. If I run it from a console, I can see this error
 message:

 (totem:11322): Grilo-CRITICAL **: grl_source_store_impl: assertion
 'GRL_IS_SOURCE (source)' failed

I looked at this, totem relies on the grl-bookmarks grilo plugin for
this, and it's not built in our package (probably because it depends
on libgom which is not even packaged :/ ).

Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

Please unblock package rinse 3.0.6. Debdiff included.

It fixes two important bugs:
#768501 [i| [rinse] CentOS 7 support completely broken
#768549 [i| [rinse] Missing packages for CentOS6 chroot

I'm sorry, but these bug numbers are not included in the changelog,
because I've fixed them really fast before the bug reports were
available.

No change was made to the rinse code itself. I only had to add some
packages to the configuration files for CentOS 6 and 7 and some code
was added to the centos-7/post-install.sh script. This code is only
executed when creating a CentOS7 chroot, but not for any other chroot
distribution that is supported by rinse.

Please consider unblocking it.

Bug#769787: unblock (pre-approval): poco 1.3.6p1-5

2014-11-16 Thread Cristian Greco
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Hi,

I'm seeking approval for the upload of poco 1.3.6p1-5.

I received a patch for CVE-2014-0350 (#746637) from Maxime Chatelle,
who prepared an upload for unstable.

Debdiff is attached, dsc is available on mentors:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/poco/poco_1.3.6p1-5.dsc

I don't see problems with the patch but would like approval from the
release team before going ahead. If we don't apply the patch now, poco
1.3.6p1-4 should be removed from testing.

Thanks,

2014-11-16 Thread David Prévot
Hi,

Thanks Andreas for your work on util-linux, it’s really appreciated.

Le 15/11/2014 17:57, Andreas Henriksson a écrit :

I really don't understand why we're having this discussion now at all.
Where where everyone before the freeze?

The whole message seems unneededly harsh, but as a data point specific
to this point, please don’t forget that the first maintainer upload
(since before the previous wheezy freeze) that made it into testing was:

[2014-10-20] util-linux 2.25.1-5 MIGRATED to testing (Britney)

That’s about two weeks prior to the actual freeze. That doesn’t let much
time to discuss or spot anything (and yes, I used the versions you
uploaded to experimental before that, but I wouldn’t expect everyone to
do it, I’m pretty sure d-i didn’t for example).

Regards

David

Bug#769788: ruby-simple-navigation: please remove dependency on ruby-rails-3.2

2014-11-16 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: ruby-simple-navigation
Version: 3.11.0-1
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

your package has
  Depends: ruby-rails-3.2 | ruby-sinatra
but ruby-rails-3.2 is not in jessie and will go away from sid at some
point eventually. Please make ruby-sinatra the default alternative or
completely remove ruby-rails-3.2.
ruby-simple-navigation is hard to install in sid (or if sid sources are
enabled), because the package manager will try the first alternative
first and then fails to resolve the resulting Conflicts tree ...
This causes the piuparts failure in sid.

Bug#769789: totem: Seeking throws off subtitles' timing

2014-11-16 Thread Luka Marčetić

Package: totem
Version: 3.14.0-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Seeking, whether via keys or mouse, dirupts the timing of the subtitles.

I've opened the video file, and the corresponding srt file was automatically
loaded and correctly displayed until I tried seeking, which is when
subtitles

started displaying with a(n incorrect) time offset.
There was no output on the command line.

The correct timing was restored only after re-opening, and is maintained
until

seeking again.

Bug#769791: wine32 doesn't work after fresh install

2014-11-16 Thread Andreas Barth
Package: wine32
Version: 1.6.2-16

Hi,

wine32 doesn't start anymore after upgrade with a clean directory.
This is a duplicate of #739863 which had been closed in wine-unstable
which had been removed from unstable afterwards, so this bug is
present in testing.

Ok, that looks fine apart from getting rid of the now-empty lintian

Bug#769792: eom: overwrites file permissions and group id

2014-11-16 Thread Stefan Frenzel
Package: eom
Version: 1.8.0+dfsg1-4+b2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

whenever updating an image, e.g. after rotating it, eom overwrites both file
permissions and group id. It seems to use an 7177 mask, that is only the
owner keeps access to the updated image. Because of this it is impossible to
share images between multiple users without having to manually reset file
permissions and/or group id.

This does not happen when using shotwell or gimp and imho it should not with
eom either.

Best regards.

Bug#769729: cron-apt: package should recommend cron-daemon

2014-11-16 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Hi

Good suggestion. However I need to know if other daemons are compatible
with /etc/cron.d file format.

I guess it should be a dependency on cron-daemon and recommend on cron. or?

 Dear Maintainer,

This package should recommend virtual package cron-daemon instead of
cron. That way users can use an alternative cron daemon more easily.

The diff looks fine, but I'm not enthusiastic about the package. It's not
currently in testing, and of the three bugs you close two (including the
RC bug) didn't get a maintainer response, and the third did but in 2012.

How can we be sure that if released in Jessie, it won't just rot there
instead?

 i upgraded today to testing.

which are user specific are lost.
Desktop is KDE, and i tried to find the file where they were stored, but
i was not able to find them.

first i got an error when trying to open the connection that an agent is
missing. now it simple opens the connections but
 the password is empty.

 this is really really bad.

If you use user connections, the passwords are typically saved in the
user session. In your case that would be kwallet.

I assume you use plasma-nm? If so you should file / re-assign the bug there.
Please include the version of plasma-nm. You might also need to restart
 your session/reboot your system.

Ping regarding the questions Michael asked?

Bug#769672: hdapsd: Doesn't start at boot

2014-11-16 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi Roger,

[ CCing Whoopie because he has more experience with the freefall code ]

On 11/15/2014 03:07 PM, Roger Lynn wrote:

After adding hdapsd to a newly installed Jessie laptop, it is not being
started at bootup, with nothing being logged.

hdapsd is installed disabled, you need to call systemctl enable
hdapsd if you want to use it, I might have not documented that part
properly, sorry.

Running /etc/init.d/hdapsd start starts it as expected:
Nov 15 14:01:36 brahms hdapsd[10763]: Selected interface: FREEFALL
Nov 15 14:01:36 brahms hdapsd[10763]: Uses hardware logic from /dev/freefall

Cool, which HW is this?

However stopping hdapsd fails. Both shutting the laptop down or running
/etc/init.d/hdapsd stop results in a 90 second timeout after which the
 process is killed:
 Nov 15 14:06:48 brahms systemd[1]: hdapsd.service stop-sigterm timed out.
 Killing.
 Nov 15 14:06:48 brahms systemd[1]: hdapsd.service: main process exited,
 code=killed, status=9/KILL
Nov 15 14:06:48 brahms systemd[1]: Unit hdapsd.service entered failed state.

Interesting. I do not have any freefall-capable HW here, so I never
tried the code myself. I guess there is something fishy in the lets end
now code when running on freefall, but I have no direct clue.

Does this happen with sysvinit too?

Greets
Evgeni

Bug#769794: override: dbus:admin/important

2014-11-16 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Please raise the priority of dbus a bit further, from standard to
important. It turns out that there are several issues with not having
dbus around, stemming from systemd-logind not being available. Among
these are:

 - No TTYs on VT 2-6.
 - No handling of ACPI events (power switch), #769733

I think this warrants pulling in dbus in all installs (and possibly
systemd depending on the dbus package as well).
