Bug#816159: www.debian.org: new introduction for blends page

2016-02-27 Thread Paul Wise
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-ble...@lists.debian.org,
debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org

I would like to change the current introduction to Debian Pure Blends
on the website to the following text. The new introduction is derived
from the 'Learn More' section of an earlier version of the page.
It tries to be suitable for non-technical folks who have not heard of
Debian Pure Blends and avoids the word 'users' in favour of 'people'.
I am fairly happy with it but I think the very last sentence is
slightly awkward and could use some fixes by English experts.

A general purpose operating system like Debian can be the perfect solution for
many different areas of life.
Whether you want Debian to work for you in the classroom, as a games machine,
or in the office, each area has its own unique needs and requires a
different subset of packages tailored in a different way.

Debian Pure Blends are a solution for groups of people with specific needs.
Not only do they provide handy collections (meta-packages) of specific packages,
but they also ease installation and configuration for the intended purpose.
They cover the interests of different groups of people, who might be children,
scientists, gamers, lawyers, medical staff, visually impaired people, etc.
Their common goal is to make installation and administration of computers
for their target audience as easy as possible and to connect their audience
with the people who write or package software for that audience.

Hello,

I cannot reproduce this locally, and all debian autobuilds of 3.4.9-2
succeeded first try, although they were using a parallel build.

Could you provide some hint on how to reproduce? Specific -j setting?
What version did you test-build?

TIA, cu Andreas

Bug#816155: Assertion failure in gethostbyname

2016-02-27 Thread James Clarke
Package: libc6
Version: 2.21-9
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: m68k

Hi,
Backstory: I maintain polyml, and was porting it to m68k; when running the test
suite, I received an assertion failure in glibc in a call to gethostbyname.

It seems gethostbyname is broken, failing for me with
“nss_files/files-hosts.c:218: _nss_files_gethostbyname3_r: Assertion
`(bufferend - (char *) 0) % sizeof (char *) == 0' failed.” This can be
reproduced with the following simple program:

#include
#include

int main(int argc, char **argv) {
struct hostent *h = gethostbyname("localhost");
printf("name: %s\n", h->h_name);
return 0;
}

Delving inside glibc, _nss_files_gethostbyname3_r expects result->h_aliases to
be aligned to sizeof(char *), as can be seen in the assert (bufferend points to
an element in result->h_aliases, and each element is a char *). Provided this
is true when the function is called, it seems to correctly maintain the
invariant by rounding up bufferend when necessary.

However, the initial value of result->h_aliases is not aligned to sizeof(char
*). Instead, it is assigned in parse_list (nss_files/files-parse.c:245) and
aligned to __alignof__(char *). On many architectures, these are the same, but
on m68k, __alignof__(char *) == 2, but sizeof(char *) == 4. There may be
environments where result->h_aliases happens to be aligned to sizeof(char *) by
chance, but that is most certainly not the case on mine (latest unstable
running in ARAnyM).

I don’t know why bufferend is required to be aligned to sizeof(char *), and
believe that imposing __alignof__(char *) in _nss_files_gethostbyname3_r
instead would suffice. Alternatively, parse_list could choose MAX(sizeof(char
*), __alignof__(char *)) as the alignment. Either way, the implementation as a
whole is currently broken.

Regards,
James

Yes. I have the new package in the svn and it is building. But there are a

If you have some time to send patches for this, would be appreciated. I

The crash is a bug in zcat.  But presumably we are also not invoking it
correctly.

OK, I've now done that and I get the same failure.  But
'git gc --prune=all' seems to work:

$ git gc --prune=all

Delta compression using up to 4 threads.

I kept a backup of the .git directory so I can run further experiments
on that.

Bug#816153: python-falcon: Documentation is not packaged

2016-02-27 Thread Kevin Murray
Package: python-falcon
Version: 0.3.0-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I found that python-falcon does not build or package its documentation.
So I attach patches to build and package the sphinx documentation in a
new python-falcon-doc package.

Additionally, I have added autopkgtests that run the test suite, and fix
a lintian warning about a missing manpage.

Cheers,
Kevin

P.S. Apologies if this is submitted twice, I've been having issues with
reportbug.

I wonder if busybox got upgraded too late.  Is this reproducible if you
run 'update-initramfs -u' now?

Another situation where it would be useful is for filtered lists of
versions, like in the Depends field, for example:

It would be nice to have a way to go from one version of a binary

Yes there is:

All bugs in linux-image packages (except meta-packages) should be
assigned to src:linux with the appropriate version.

The features that I enabled conflict with ZONE_DMA which is required by
these sound drivers.

If that conflict is removed then I'll happily enable them again.

I think debootstrap uses that as it could be bootstrapping a different
distribution to what is installed.

Could you re-test your scenario from #748082 using apt-offline git? It
should work without using /usr/share/keyrings since it now looks at
/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d too.

That part was fine, but ...

Failed to start alsa-utils.service: Unit alsa-utils.service is masked.

I bit of googling suggests that a service can be unmasked using:

$ sudo systemctl unmask alsa-utils.service

but that has no effect on my machine:

$ sudo service alsa-utils start
Failed to start alsa-utils.service: Unit alsa-utils.service is masked.

I also tried force re-installing alsa-utils which didn't help either.

Hi!

stuff I don't like and would prefer to see changed:

* please meld the 2 changelog entries, the 1 minute, 14 seconds older
   one never hit the archive anyway.

Done

* current standards-version is 3.9.7, check against it.

Done. No changes needed

* what's "Set localstatedir to /var"? I can't see anything relevant in
   the packaging part.

That's because it is now calling "dh" which does this. The previous
version was running the configure script directly and was not passing
--localstatedir, thus defaulting to PREFIX/var

* what are those debian/.ci-name and debian/.ci-tgz files?

Leftovers from my personal CI setup. Removed.

* in d/rules, the following is useless if you use debhelper compat 9
   (you don't):
 # see EXAMPLES in dpkg-buildflags(1) and read /usr/share/dpkg/*
 DPKG_EXPORT_BUILDFLAGS = 1
 include /usr/share/dpkg/default.mk
   why did you add them?

Removed. I don't remember if it was from the initial debian/ dir
creation or whether they were added later by me.

* you bumped the dependency on debhelper, but compat is still 5.
   clearly, read debhelper(7) if you bump it.

Done. I read the manpage for changes between 5 and 9 and didn't notice
anything that applies to vbackup.

* is debian/dirs really really really needed? if it is, you build
   system is broken and you may as well fix it.

It's not. Removed

* FYI, in d/rules I personally find the following comment useless
 # main packaging script based on dh7 syntax

Cleared

* you don't do hardening, can you consider enabling it? (see
   wiki.d.o/Hardening)

I had a look and didn't see anything that applies. vbackup is purely
shell scripts. Am I missing something?

* in d/copyright, the years are 2006-2012, I'm confident you want to
   bump them.

Corrected

The new package is in mentors and is lintian clean:

Do you want to give it another shot?

It looks like the Makefile didn't wait for systemkey-args.h to be
finished writing before compiling systemkey.c.

It thus seems unsafe to allow parallel build until such kind of missing
dependency is fixed.

Thanks for your debugging session.

I don't understand very well the relationship though -- in the
original message, when you paste the "versions", they are not marked
as auto-installed (you say "None of these three packages is marked as
manually installed:", but the information shows the contrary, so I
assume that you meant that).

Also, in the first "safe-upgrade", you don't mention if the packages
were marked as auto previously (either on purpose, or wrongly by
aptitude).

The commit above might be doing the wrong thing, but it doesn't have
much to do with holds but with marking the packages to "keep", for
example when one selects "Keep packages at current version" in the
interactive resolver.

It doesn't mark them unconditionally as automatic either, it tries to
force the Automatic parameter that was decided elsewhere (presumably,
determined to be the previous state before the current set of
decisions / pending actions was taken).

Cheers.

Bug#816147: ITP: django-prometheus -- Django middlewares to enable monitoring with Prometheus

2016-02-27 Thread Christopher Baines
Package: wnpp

* Package name: django-prometheus

  Upstream Author : Uriel Corfa
* URL : https://github.com/korfuri/django-prometheus

  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Django middlewares to enable monitoring with Prometheus

The django-prometheus library provides integrations to monitor database
interaction, usage of models, and HTTP requests. Any custom metrics are also
handled directly by the Python Prometheus client library.

This library just facilitates gathering and exporting the data. A separate
service (or set of services) must be used to gather, store and process this
data.

I plan to maintain this as part of the Debian Python Modules Team.

Thanks for that! And sorry for the delay, I lost track of this one. :/

Right, as agreed over IRC at the time.

Sure, you just need to use something like:

  report_options(info_fh => \*STDERR);

in the same way --print-format is doing. :)

Right, I think it would be better instead to factor out the common
code into functions and then have separate codepaths for each option,
that's something I've been meaning to do anyway also for the build
ones, and possibly try to move that into the modules. I can do that
if you'd like.

Indeed, I'd rather avoid the duplication. Also a detached function to
validate could be useful on its own right, so that one could do that
also from say dpkg-source.

Bug#816144: eatmydata: Avoid linking pulling libpthread

2016-02-27 Thread Samuel Thibault
Package: eatmydata
Version: 105-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello,

libeatmydata is linked against libpthread. This thus pulls libpthread
in all processes run under eatmydata. It happens that having
libpthread in a process makes pthread_mutex_lock() and all such basic
performance-sensitive operations much heavier (since they then have to
deal with potential multithreading). The attached patch avoids that by
using a weak reference to pthread_testcancel, so that pthread_testcancel
is called only if the program itself pulls libpthread.

Bug#312920: writes when nothing should be written when nothing should be written)

2016-02-27 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Some comments about previous messages in this report... perhaps of
little importance now, but here they are for posterity...

2012-03-21 23:57 Daniel Hartwig:

reopen 312920
thanks

[...]
Further you have misread the intent of "writes when nothing should be
written" as meaning "please do not display so much output." Rather,
it refers to the writing and subsequent re-reading of the package
database *after* aptitude has determined there is nothing to do--this
action takes a relatively long time to perform and is of questionable
utility.

FWIW, the extra writing of the state files happens because of bug
#429732.

Trying to improve this to gain fractions of a second and risking to fall
again in old bugs is not worth doing at this point, in my opinion.

I agree that 2s is far more time that it should be desirable, but yet
it's 2s and nobody is going to die because of that.

2 s or 29 s is not important--such a figure will differ widely between
various systems--it is the relative performance that is of interest.
You will notice I provided the times for both aptitude and apt-get on
this command.

Comparing apt and aptitude is not fair in this case, because aptitude
provides several extra functionalitities that need more resources than
apt (like detecting the "new" packages available; debtags; user tags; or
locking different directories for the session) that need initialising
for most common operations (specially the curses mode / interactive
sessions, that apt doesn't need); or are needed for these extra
functionalities of aptitude that are used very often (like the mentioned
"new packages available", or pattern matching, or policies for grouping
of packages in different lists).

I never used aptitude in systems where it took so long to do operations
as ~30s, even if I used it in small devboards with MIPS processors for
example, and the computers where I took the measurements were/are not
exactly bleeding edge.

In any case, the difference between apt and aptitude was not an order of
magnitude bigger in my measurements, and the max time of aptitude doing
this was 2 to 4s compared to 0.5 to 2s of apt. So I wouldn't
automatically assume that aptitude is doing much worse.

This bug report is not about performance in general. It is directed
at the performance of a specific command and contains constructive
suggestions that can certainly be implemented which would improve the
performance.

So the original report, with comments added:

The following command takes a long time to execute.

It should read very little,

This code is executed twice yet in theory only need be done at the
start because nothing has changed:

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree
Reading extended state information
Initializing package states... Done

I made some changes lately that might have helped this processing of
information twice.

In any case, with the to-be-released version, the time and messages are
now:

 time aptitude install does-not-exist | cat
 Reading package lists...
 Building dependency tree...
 Reading state information...
 Reading extended state information...
 Initializing package states...
 Writing extended state information...

 Unable to apply some actions, aborting
 Couldn't find any package whose name or description matched "does-not-exist"

 real0m1.563s
 user0m1.192s
 sys 0m0.364s

compute very little,

There are two computations happening:

* after not finding a package with the exact name
"some-package-that-does-not-exist" two searches are performed:
 - ?name(some-package-that-does-not-exist); and
 - ?description(some-package-that-does-not-exist)

* the set of kept-back packages is computed, even though no packages
to install were identified.

The second is certainly of little utility when aptitude has failed to
identify the requested package. The first is an automatic search
attempt, but it may be preferable to simply abort with an error and
let the user direct their own search manually if desired.

I think that it's worth it, and a nice functionality that it takes the
initiative to do some searches that might help the user to save more
seconds and typing in looking for alternatives, or discover relevant
packages that would not have seen otherwise:

 time aptitude install -s Krita
 Couldn't find any package matching "Krita", but there are 11 packages
 which contain "Krita" in their description:
   calligraauthor calligraauthor:i386 icc-profiles krita krita:i386
   xicc xicc:i386 krita-data icc-profiles-free krita-gemini
   krita-gemini:i386
 Unable to apply some actions, aborting

 real0m1.388s
 user0m1.068s
 sys 0m0.316s

And regarding the kept-back packages, it does not happen now due to
other changes already mentioned (aborts at the first failure).

It is debatable whether the behaviour before was helpful; but in
general, this is what aptitude historically did -- to try to continue
with actions when possible. It was

Bug#312920: writes when nothing should be written

2016-02-27 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Control: tags -1 + pending

Hi,

I was working on some improvements that cut the time to initialise
aptitude significantly (roughly to half of the time, in my system, with
the commands given above).

This is in addition to other changes lately that cause aptitude to abort
earlier when there are errors finding packages requested to install (so
the current version is already faster for this specific case than the
versions from years ago).

That should help in other areas where aptitude is reading/writing its
pkgstates file, lazy initialisation of some aspects (e.g. loading
information about "tasks" until/unless they are really needed), and the
recent extra functionality of synchronising its state back to
dpkg/dselect (to play nice with other tools) which made the performance
problem a bit worse.

More work could be done in this area, because improving things by
spending more time is [almost] always possible, but I consider that the
cost/benefit ratio if continuing down this path is not very great,
compared to other things that need to be done, and I think that what was
done addresses the problem as much as is possible in the given time,
without harming other areas or possibly reviving old bugs.

An example of problems that can happen if moving the initialization of
other elements elsewhere is that, if we also defer the initialisation of
debtags (which are needed in the interactive mode, etc), it will cause
small freezes when loading it later, and anyway it is needed for many
command-line commands such as "show".

So marking this bug as pending.

Cheers.

I am able to trigger similar (but slightly different) segmentation fault
by doing name resolving with the new libc (ie 2.13-38+deb7u10) but with
the old /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_dns.so.2 (ie from 2.13-38+deb7u9).
Do you have any nss modules which do not come from the libc6 package
installed (either from another package or manually installed)?

Thanks for your help in debugging.

Wooh. That was fast ;) I'll try to beat Ben to it ;) Tomorrow...
Too late now.

Still, I really wonder what the debian changelog motivation behind it
might be. Various applications work much nicer with 4.3.5-1, than
ever. I read in the kernel log:

commit 5c408fee254633a5be69505bc86c6b034f871ab4
Author: Maciej S. Szmigiero
Date:   Mon Jan 18 20:07:44 2016 +0100
...
This fixes hard lockup on fsl_ssi module reload,
at least in AC'97 mode.
...
commit 3f1c241f0f5f90046258e6b8d4aeb6463ffdc08e
Author: Maciej S. Szmigiero
Date:   Sun Dec 20 21:30:25 2015 +0100
...
This unbreaks AC'97 register access.
...
commit 25e5ef974c33f1e4a07a68bf830e6493ee6dab11
Author: Maciej S. Szmigiero
Date:   Sun Dec 20 21:34:29 2015 +0100
...
ASoC: fsl-asoc-card: use different route map for AC'97 mode

fsl_ssi uses different stream names ("AC97 Playback" / "AC97 Capture")
in AC'97 mode so in this case fsl-asoc-card route map should
also be using them.

But, I can't see that _does explain_ the:

   * [amd64] mm,nvdimm: Disable ZONE_DMA; enable ZONE_DEVICE, NVDIMM_PFN
 - This disables drivers for some AC'97 sound cards

nor justifies the action. Ben, care to explain?

Cheers,

Stricly speaking this is not an regression but an improvement.
1.0.x did silently ignore apparmor if you did not have "complete" apparmor
support in the kernel (read: no mount restrictions which are only available in Ubuntu).
See [1] for details about the behaviour.

With 1.1.x LXC actually errors out when it detecs you want apparmor but don't have the
right kernel for it. You can set "lxc.aa_allow_incomplete = 1" to allow it to
use whatever apparmor support is available, skipping the cool mount stuff.

That said I would love to close this as not-a-bug, if you do not disagree.

There was no news in apt-listchanges.
I did find how to fix the problem googling the error and I had to
understand what I was really doing adding that option but I wouldn't
have incurred in the problem if:
- the package itself would have made the change to the configurations
(not sure if it is a good idea)

or
- there was a notice in apt-listchange.

I'm ok if you close the bug but I'm thinking about the other poor souls
that may upgrade lxc and find their containers not running without any
notice.

I hope once this bug will be indexed by google, understanding what is
the problem will be enough to help other people to fix it quicker.

Nothing terrible, I'm aware I'm using sid and probably once there will
be a new kernel this won't be an issue.

In the thermald bug report, you will see lots of posts asking for the values
of several MSRs, and also to run "turbostat" and attach its output.

Can you repeat those tests, and report the value of those MSRs in both the
"working" and "system is stuck in low power" states?

There are people working upstream on solving this issue:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.mm/145039/

So you could stick with the Jessie 3.16 kernel (don't use 4.3,
because that won't receive security updates) until this is
fixed in a future kernel version.

Subject: [PATCH] Provide fvwm_KeycodeToKeysym() to handle XKeycodeToKeysym()
 deprecation

X are deprecating XKeycodeToKeysym() in favour of XkbKeycodeToKeysym() --
however, older XServers will obviously not have access to XKB, so we have to
conditionally use the newer method only when it's available.

Hi!

Currently, when a package has a newer version available upstream, it
is not reported at all on DDPO and on tracker.debian.org, it says
"problems while searching for a new upstream version".

Examples:

 https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/fvwm-crystal
 https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=bernat=yes

I am unsure on what is managing this, so I file this generic bug here.

If I read this right, this seems to be a Debian kernel configuration
choice rather than anything else.

Does it work if you just compile your own kernel?

I'm afraid not; a list of all daemon-like things is below:

Downgrading that microcode exposes you to higher chances of data
corruption/unpredictable system behavior (I wish I could be more specific
than that, but I don't have the required information), so we really should
try to find a different solution.

Agreed.

The observed behaviour sounds similar to that in Launchpad bug #1506050.

Alright, but not obvious to me.

So, what is to do about that? Stay on 4.3.5-1 for as long as I'm
happy with keeping this nice, working, piece of electronix:

Bug#784328: FVWM: fvwm hotkey problem inside vnc

2016-02-27 Thread Hendrik Tews
I found the culprit: It's the Debian deprecated.patch, which I
attach below, in case you are interested.

This means it's a Debian packaging bug. Debian applies this
deprecated.patch during build, thereby apparently making fvwm
incompatible with the X xerver running inside vnc.

In retrospect, I should have earlier tried to confirm whether the
problem is present at all in the upstream fvwm version. However,
I was under the wrong impression that Debian distributes an
almost unmodified fvwm (the opposite is true - there are 12
Debian patches). Further, also the email from Raphael in March on
the fvwm list gave me the impression somebody has checked this
with upstream fvwm.

Bye,

Hendrik

Do you mean that Corosync won't let you use independent links for
heartbeat and cluster communication? I think the usual recommendation
is to bond them, but Corosync also supports this natively under the name
RRP (redundant ring protocol). Why doesn't this work for you?

Bug#816135: idle-python3.4: uninstallable since python3-tk stopped providing python3.4-tk

Version: 3.4.4-2

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package is no longer
installable in sid:

The dependency python3.4-tk is no longer available.
This was a virtual package, previously provided by python3-tk.

idle-python3.4 seems to have no rdepends, so only one package broken.

(This seems to be part of the python3.4 removal transition ...)

Bug#742832: newer tinymce version (4.1+) needed by roundcube-core

Roundcube seems to be dependant on tinymce 4.1+, so this bug affects 4 software

Please fix this!

Have you installed the cryptsetup-bin package?
It's a recommends of udisks2, so should be installed by default unless

Seems that's indeed the reason. I bisected the problem, and found
commit 377f72b53c ("Reinstate auto-installed flag when marking packages
to keep in apt cache (Closes: #508428)") to be the culprit.

That package has a reverse dependency which is also held back, and I can
see that it has been marked as auto-installed as well, which is not
surprising (anymore).

Stricly speaking this is not an regression but an improvement.
1.0.x did silently ignore apparmor if you did not have "complete" apparmor
support in the kernel (read: no mount restrictions which are only available in
Ubuntu).
See [1] for details about the behaviour.

With 1.1.x LXC actually errors out when it detecs you want apparmor but don't
have the right kernel for it. You can set "lxc.aa_allow_incomplete = 1" to
allow it to use whatever apparmor support is available, skipping the cool mount
stuff.

That said I would love to close this as not-a-bug, if you do not disagree.

And yes, I proposed adding /usr/share/keyrings as part of `apt-offline
install` (which copies the files from the thumb drive to the offline
machine) based on my experience with `debootstrap`, which does use a
file in /usr/share/keyring. Glad to see that's improved, but FYI, in
terms of apt-offline, this is only related to an added level of
verification on top of what `apt-get install` does.

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/apt-offline/apt-offline.git/commit/?id=77b6b460ced7aeb7f69d470d5fe34ac500faad7b

`apt-offline` just shuffles files around, it does not do the package
installing. `apt-get install` does that, and `apt-get install` is what
is verifying the packages before installing them.

The final steps of the apt-offline workflow look like this:
  apt-offline install /media/thumb/bundle.zip
  apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk

Bug#814554: octave: Saving figure to a PNG or PDF file gives black plot area when using gnuplot graphics

2016-02-27 Thread Andrei Demekhov

Package: octave
Followup-For: Bug #814554

Thank you for responding. In the meantime, the bug disappeared in my system
after upgrading several graphic library packages related to ghostscript and GL.
Unfortunately I did not catch the exact cause. Maybe comparing the current
and previous dependency lists would help to understand what caused the
problem.

Indeed. My estimate was based on the rate being sustained, which gets
increasingly more and more unlikely as there are fewer packages left.

For the record, we are now 2½ after the last mail (from me) and "only"
down to 1694 packages remaining. In the past year, it has dropped by
about ~500 without any nagging.

No one ever confirmed that "E" tags are more likely to be fixed than "W"
tags. That said, nagging people on d-d(-a) or via blog posts might help.
  Alternatively, if the FTP masters agree we could make it an
auto-reject tag.

Bug#815503: dbus-x11: Several session buses if scripts in Xsession.d use D-Bus

If applied to jessie or a jessie-based derivative, the patch on this bug
will cause just as many issues as it solves. I tried the same change
back in 2011, and it caused regressions. Given the choice between a
pre-existing bug and a new bug of similar severity, I would prefer to keep
the existing bug - "we have the same bugs we always had, instead of new
ones" is stability of a sort. Sorry you're affected by the existing bug,
but the alternative isn't significantly better.

With the dbus-update-activation-environment change in 1.10 (which was
primarily done to support dbus-user-session), this patch is less risky,
and I'm considering applying it in stretch (only) on that basis.

The fundamental issue here is that the two roles of Xsession.d - setting
environment variables that should apply to "everything", and starting
long-running background processes that are likely be affected by those
environment variables - are in conflict. If possible, I would recommend
talking to your services' upstream developers about ways to resolve this
permanently, which include:

* starting long-running background processes after Xsession.d, for
  example from /etc/xdg/autostart/, at least when in an environment
  like GNOME that is known to use /etc/xdg/autostart/

* starting long-running background processes on-demand (D-Bus
  and/or systemd activation) instead of "eagerly"

* configuring packages to work by default or read settings from
  configuration files, instead of requiring special environment
  variables, where possible

* communicating transient settings via $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, where
  supported (either libpam-systemd or libpam-xdg-support must
  be present)

Bug#816132: systemd-networkd: Tunnel setup for sit-type tunnel fails

2016-02-27 Thread Sven Hartge
Package: systemd
Version: 229-1
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

Hi!

I am using systemd-networkd to manage a HE.net IPv6 Tunnel, using
a netdev, and two network files in /etc/systemd/network:

[ he-tunnel.netdev ]
[Match]

[NetDev]
Description=HE.net Tunnelbroker sit device
Name=he-ipv6
Kind=sit
MTUBytes=1480

[Tunnel]
Local=130.180.40.117
Remote=216.66.80.30
TTL=255
-

[ he-tunnel.network ]
[Match]
Name=he-ipv6

[Network]
Address=2001:470:1f0a:cbf::2/64
Gateway=2001:470:1f0a:cbf::1

IPForward=true
-

[ lan.network ]
[Match]
MACAddress=02:17:08:81:64:44

[Network]
Address=130.180.40.117/29
Gateway=130.180.40.113

Address=2001:470:7403:f::1/64

Tunnel=he-ipv6

IPForward=true

[Route]
Destination=2001:470:7403::/48
Gateway=2001:470:7403:f::2

[Route]
Destination=192.168.100.0/24
Gateway=130.180.40.114
-

This has worked flawless so far, but after a reboot today, systemd-networkd
does not want to create the tunnel device and logs the following error:

Feb 27 20:18:47 urd systemd-networkd[1654]:
[/etc/systemd/network/he-tunnel.netdev:10] Tunnel addresses incompatible,
ignoring assignment: 130.180.40.117
Feb 27 20:18:47 urd systemd-networkd[1654]:
[/etc/systemd/network/he-tunnel.netdev:11] Tunnel addresses incompatible,
ignoring assignment: 216.66.80.30
Feb 27 20:18:47 urd systemd-networkd[1654]: Tunnel with invalid address family
configured in /etc/systemd/network/he-tunnel.netdev. Ignoring
Feb 27 20:18:47 urd systemd-networkd[1654]:
[/etc/systemd/network/lan.network:10] Tunnel is invalid, ignoring assignment:
he-ipv6

This is a severe regression and totally moronic. Why would a sit-Tunnel
(IPv6-in-IPv4) require anything else than an IPv4-Adresse in the local
and remote options of the [Tunnel] section? It this the whole idea of
a 6-in-4-tunnel.

If I manually create the tunnel interface he-ipv6 with

  ip tunnel add he-ipv6 mode sit remote 216.66.80.30 local 130.180.40.117 ttl
255
  ip link set he-ipv6 up mtu 1480

then systemd-networkd uses the information in he-tunnel.network to add the
IPs to the interface but it is not able to create the tunnel interface in
the first place because it wrongly expects an IPv6-Adresse in the local and
remote options.

Grüße,
Sven.

1.2 with DirectFB support?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Bug#816126: catfish: Icons displaying much too large

2016-02-27 Thread William Eggington
Package: catfish
Version: 1.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When using Catfish with the Buuf icon pack installed, the icons are drawn so
large that it is impossible for me to select items that are above and below my
screen.

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Just+another+Buuf+Remix?content=135329

I tried a few different versions of this theme but all of them are drawing
incorrectly in catfish, but work in programs like Thunar.

Dear Maintainer,

While attempting to chose a nice icon theme for my debian linux install.

I tried different versions of the Buuf icon themes, Buuf Remix 2.5, Buuf Duece
1.1-R8.

None of them fixed the problem of icons rendering too large.

I expected the icons to draw the right size like it does in other applicaitons.

Bug#814852: RFS: openfst/1.5.1-1 -- weighted finite-state transducers library

2016-02-27 Thread Jakub Wilk

Control: owner -1 !

Hi Giulio!

[When filing a bug, please use X-Debbugs-CC instead of plain CC, so that
the copied person receives the message with bug number from the BTS.]

* Giulio Paci , 2016-02-16, 01:03:

https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/openfst.git

I had only a very quick look at the package so far:

* Drop 1001, 1002, 1003.
* Avoid 2001 patch usage.

Someone who's not familiar with the package history would have no idea
what this means. Please be more verbose here.

Do you plan to forward unresolved-symbols.diff upstream?

Typo in README.Debian:
binaries depends -> binaries depend

Typos in fstlinear.1 and fstloglinearapply.1:
chracter -> character

The tarball uscan downloads is different that the one pristine-tar
generates:

$ md5sum openfst_1.5.1.orig.tar.gz.*
9b6e9a5042b986919f62c5184e3e352d  openfst_1.5.1.orig.tar.gz.pristine-tar
8869e44c5a4af65409ae78b9f482b40e  openfst_1.5.1.orig.tar.gz.uscan

Do you know how did that happen?

Bug#816118: gnome-shell: Gnome-shell-binary crash when resuming from a suspended multi monitor setup

2016-02-27 Thread Gaël Jobin
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.18.3-3
Severity: important

At work, I use a multi monitor setup using both hdmi and display port. When I
hibernate, take my computer at home and try to resume it, my laptop monitor
blink and I can log in with my creds. But, it's a complete new session with all
my apps closed.

Is it related to VirtualBox (kern.log)? Or maybe systemd? Or nvidia? The log
are there but I don't know what is causing gnome-shell to crash/restart.

Hi Manuel,

it is 0.6.11.

So, as I mentioned, these features have only been implemented in the 0.7
series, and the error explaining that there are invalid escapes was
implemented in 0.7.6, I am afraid that you cannot use it in 0.6.x.

So I will close the report now.

Cheers.
