Could you please tell some more specific date or time ? Sorry

okay, thanks for this update. This was helpful.

Indeed, it is. But that's what our customer demanded. We are trying to
convince them for other
option but so far we are failed to do so. But we never give up ;-)

Dear Maintainer,

Your package FTBFS with PROJ 6 from experimental.

The attached patch fixes the issue by defining
ACCEPT_USE_OF_DEPRECATED_PROJ_API_H.

Note that this is only a temporary workaround, proj_api.h will be
removed in PROJ 7 scheduled for March 2020.

Upstream is aware of the issue, see:

Hi!
These two files have disappeared:
-rwxr-xr-x root/root
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/shotwell/shotwell-settings-migrator
-rwxr-xr-x root/root
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/shotwell/shotwell-video-thumbnailer
yet there's no hint for me whether this is intentional.

I have no clue about this package's inner workings, but neither yours nor
upstream changelogs mention this change. As these tools are not within a
public namespace, it's possible that all is ok... but it's safer to me to
check with you.

I confirm the bug. Also in 1.4.8+dfsg-1 which is currently in Debian
10. The bug is introduces by me when I forced libtk-img to use the
system-wide libtiff instead of the one bundled with the libtk-img
sources.

I'll fix it in unstable shortly, and then in stable and in oldstable
(it'll be available in the updates repository, and after a while in
the next point release).

Thank you for the bugreport!

this sounds very frustrating, i'm sorry to hear it.

I just ran the following test that uses an empty GnuPG homedir:

GNUPGHOME=$(mktemp -d)

Could you try out the test above? Once you run it, if it gives you an
error, could you look at $GNUPGHOME/gpg-agent.log ?

Just to make sure what we have to do now:

1. replace the line "Icon=info" in /usr/share/applications/info.desktop

Please confirm!

Thanks,

I see that the info package Recommends gnome-icon-theme, I don't think
it's a good idea.

gnome-icon-theme is not maintained anymore. Also I don't think it's up
to a leaf application to define the icon theme that should be installed.

The best solution is to use a xdg icon name and expect that the user
will have an icon theme installed.

If you want a "light bulb" icon, you should probably use the name
"dialog-information" icon which is part of the xdg standard (see
https://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html)

I see this icon being part of most of the icon theme.

The package was pushed by SZ (see link) to debian and he expects it will
be merged sonn, now that "buster" is released.

[1] https://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html

Anyway, (not yet merged) packages are available. You can use the link
above, or SWUpdate has a -debian branch to build the package on your own.

Weird, decision to take debian or Yocto should not be based on
SWUpdate's availability.

You are using the new parsing defaults that Glenn implemented for
buster. I suspect that by changing one of these to disable, you can
restore the previous behaviour. (<- workaround)

I guess that the behaviour is connected to buffer_is_valid_UTF8 in some
way. If you pass the decoded buffer to buffer_is_valid_UTF8 you get 0
(invalid) for "\xc0" and for "\xc1", but not for "\xc2". However, those
cases where buffer_is_valid_UTF8 is involved would typically result in a
502 code rather than 400, so maybe this is wrong.

Glenn, can you comment on this?

Helmut

Bug#931926: tiger: removing tiger package fails in postrm because /var/log/tiger is removed before somehow

2019-07-12 Thread Dominik Stadler
Package: tiger
Version: 1:3.2.4~rc1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I am installing debian machines via Ansible and also clean out some packages
sometimes.

When trying to uninstalling tiger, sometimes the postrm script fails because
/var/log/tiger
does not exist any more when the postrm script is run.

I verified that before removal of the package the directory /var/log/tiger did
still exist,
but uninstalling did still fail somehow, so it seems the uninstallation of
tiger somehow
removes this directory as part of normal package removal and then the postrm
script fails
because the directory is not available any more.

However it was not always reproducible and I could not pinpoint the exact
circumstances for this
to happen.

Maybe the postrm script should handle this more gracefully by not failing when
the directory
is not there any more.

This is the output of my Ansible playbook

Corrections Provides several cluster-robust variance estimators
(i.e., sandwich estimators) for ordinary and weighted least
squares linear regression models, including the bias-reduced
linearization estimator introduced by Bell and McCaffrey (2002)

and developed further by Pustejovsky and Tipton (2017)
 . The package includes
functions for estimating the variance- covariance matrix and for
testing single- and multiple- contrast hypotheses based on Wald
test statistics. Tests of single regression coefficients use
Satterthwaite or saddle-point corrections. Tests of multiple-contrast
hypotheses use an approximation to Hotelling's T-squared
distribution. Methods are provided for a variety of fitted models,
including lm() and mlm objects, glm(), ivreg() (from package
'AER'), plm() (from package 'plm'), gls() and lme() (from 'nlme'),
robu() (from 'robumeta'), and rma.uni() and rma.mv() (from
 'metafor').

Bug#931923: gnupg: should support sha2 fingerprints

2019-07-12 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: gnupg
Version: 2.2.12-1
Severity: normal

>From man:gpg(1):

| This format is deduced from the length of the string and its content

SHA-2 fingerprints should be supported for X.509 as well. Web
browsers have shown those for quite a while now.

The same is true for fingerprints of OpenPGP keys, but I'm not sure if
there is any standard for those...

Bug#645788: openssh-server: Workaround

2019-07-12 Thread Orlando Muñoz
Package: openssh-server
Version: 1:7.9p1-10
Followup-For: Bug #645788

Dear Maintainer,

Authentication always failed when using sshd server launched from xinetd.
Issue was track down to the fact that sshd systemd script created a /run/sshd
directory.
But that directory does not exist when called from xinetd.

Workarround was to place a conf file on /etc/tmffiles.d
---snip (sshd.conf)
d /run/sshd 0700 root root
---snip

This creates the required diretory during system startup on the dynamic /run
(tmpfs).

I suggest removing the creation/deletion of the /run/sshd diretory from the
ssh.service
systemd service script, and placing a tmpfiles conf to do the same at startup.

That would work in both cases (standalone service and xinetd helper).

Thanks for implementing this Daniel! I guess this can be closed now,
although it would be nice to change or remove the references to
hkp://keys.gnupg.net in the docs which seem rather confusing given
the resemblance of both domain names, also because it does not use
hkps, and would be IMO bad advice given the current circumstances.

Bug#931921: clutter's autopkgtests hang when ran with a libglib2.0-0 built with gcc-9

2019-07-12 Thread Iain Lane
Source: gcc-9
Version: 9.1.0-8
Severity: important

Control: affects -1 gcc libglib2.0-0

Hiya,

I saw this on Ubuntu (9.1.0-8ubuntu1) but I've also reproduced this with
9.1.0-8 on sid (w/gcc-defaults from experimental to use gcc-9 by
default).

clutter's tests hang like this:

0x77b316f4 in __GI___poll (fds=0x558d0420, nfds=2, timeout=-1) at
../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c:29

../glib/gmain.c:4108
#4 0x6634 in verify_redraw (expected_paint_count=1,
data=, data=)
at actor-offscreen-redirect.c:172

Here's the bit of code.

https://sources.debian.org/src/clutter-1.0/1.26.2+dfsg-10/tests/conform/actor-offscreen-redirect.c/#L172

It's adding some stuff to a main loop and expecting it to finish when a
particular signal handler is called.

There's obviously a lot of code going on here (this isn't anything like
a minimal testcase, and glib2.0's own testsuite & autopkgtests pass so
it's not like GMainLoop is completely broken).

I found an upstream report which I suspect is the same thing:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/clutter/issues/6

Things which make it work again

  - Building glib2.0 w/gcc-9 -O1 (and -O0)
  - Building w/gcc-8 (obviously)

Happy to help try to narrow this down to the optimisation that's
breaking glib and/or the code in glib that's breaking the optimisation.
Maybe in person at Debconf. For now I'm going to upload a glib2.0 that
builds with gcc-8 explicitly.

Cheers,

Therefore, a "/etc/init.d/freeradius stop" does not stop the daemon as intended

Alternatively, "cannot shadow an accelerated frame buffer" could imply
that we need to disable acceleration for mach64.

But why would the above warning message show up if shadowfb were in fact
disabled by xorg.conf? I take the warning to mean that the xorg.conf I
provided is bogus.

Anyway, I can't offer a config that would enable/disable acceleration or
enable/disable shadowed framebuffer, so I'll leave it with Michel to

Bug#931878: libonig: CVE-2019-13224 CVE-2019-13225

2019-07-12 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
tags 931878 +pending
thanks

Hello Salvatore,

I have the libonig release 6.9.2 with both upstream fixes for the CVEs
ready for upload.

It is uploaded to mentors[1] and into the git[2].

Should the upload of the package be handled by the security team?
Or can I take care of it myself?

My changes:

  * New upstream release:
- Refresh symbols file.
- Refresh debian/patches/0100-source_typos.patch.
  * Rewrite debain/watch.
  * New debian/patches/0105-CVE-2019-13224.patch and
  debian/patches/0110-CVE-2019-13225.patch (Closes: #931878):
- Fixes CVE-2019-13224 A use-after-free in onig_new_deluxe() in regext.c.
- Fixes CVE-2019-13225 A NULL Pointer Dereference in match_at()
   in regexec.c.
  * Declare compliance with Debian Policy 4.4.0 (No changes needed).
  * Migrate to debhelper 12:
- Change debian/compat to 12.
- Bump minimum debhelper version in debian/control to >= 12.
- debian/rules: Remove obsolete dh_install --fail-missing.

Good catch. I've applied your patch and made some minor edits to
improve code readability and to fix the typo in the new comment.

Are you OK with the commit below?

commit 0a8299dd8da7dba7437550d12bf180d9e10d512b
Author: Chris Lamb
Date: Fri Jul 12 07:59:50 2019 +0200

lsg.c: Make the output of lopsubgen reproducible.

Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], we noticed that
liblopsub generates output that is not reproducible. The lopsubgen
utility does not respect SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH [1] and thus packages such
as src:tfortune are rendered unreproducible as they then encode the
build date and time.

This patch makes lopsubgen honour SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH.

FWIW, the latest login upload to unstable (1:4.7-1) dropped support for
/etc/securetty and removed that file on upgrades, due to the numerous
complaints it caused:

,
| shadow (1:4.7-1) unstable; urgency=medium

`

This lead to complaints by pam_unix in the system logs on every login,
see #931899. I think it's time to disable pam_securetty by default, it
was useful twenty years ago but it no longer is.

Bug#931917: grub-installer: call efibootmgr (if available) to keep track of boot order/options

2019-07-12 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: grub-installer
Version: 1.165
Severity: important

With stretch, we were getting efibootmgr's output in the installer's
syslog, which could help track down issues related to the boot sequence.

With buster, due to grub2's switch to using libefi* (since both the
2.02+dfsg1-14 and 2.02+dfsg1-15 uploads), efibootmgr is no longer used;
it's kept in Recommends (since 2.02+dfsg1-17) though.

It would be great to check whether efibootmgr is present and to call it
to get its output back into the installer's syslog.

This would have been helpful for the #931910 installation report, for
example.

Once it's implemented and tested in unstable/testing, I'll consider
backporting this for a buster point release.

Cheers,

Bug#931916: ITP: r-cran-spatialreg -- GNU R spatial regression analysis

Subject: ITP: r-cran-spatialreg -- GNU R spatial regression analysis
Package: wnpp
Owner: Andreas Tille
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: r-cran-spatialreg
  Version : 1.1
  Upstream Author : Roger Bivand,
* URL : https://cran.r-project.org/package=spatialreg
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: GNU R
Description : GNU R spatial regression analysis
A collection of all the estimation functions for spatial cross-sectional
models (on lattice/areal data using spatial weights matrices) contained
up to now in 'spdep', 'sphet' and 'spse'. These model fitting functions
include maximum likelihood methods for cross-sectional models proposed
by 'Cliff' and 'Ord' (1973, ISBN:0850860369) and (1981,
ISBN:0850860814), fitting methods initially described by 'Ord' (1975)
. The models are further described
by 'Anselin' (1988) . Spatial two stage
least squares and spatial general method of moment models initially
proposed by 'Kelejian' and 'Prucha' (1998)
and (1999) are provided. Impact methods
and MCMC fitting methods proposed by 'LeSage' and 'Pace' (2009)
are implemented for the family of cross-
sectional spatial regression models. Methods for fitting the log
determinant term in maximum likelihood and MCMC fitting are compared by
'Bivand et al.' (2013) , and model fitting
methods by 'Bivand' and 'Piras' (2015) ; both
of these articles include extensive lists of references. 'spatialreg' >=
1.1-* correspond to 'spdep' >= 1.1-1, in which the model fitting
functions are deprecated and pass through to 'spatialreg', but will mask
those in 'spatialreg'. From versions 1.2-*, the functions will be made
 defunct in 'spdep'.

Bug#931915: ifupdown: Interfaces with static IP get 169.254.x.x assigned by DHCP client

2019-07-12 Thread Robert Dinse
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.8.35
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

I upgraded a machine from stretch to buster. It had an assigned static
IP of 204.122.16.15. The machine ran fine for two days then disappeared from
the network.

Upon investigation I found it had a 169.254.x.x address assigned in
addition to the staticly assigned address. The routing table showed this
in with a route scope of local and my default route still there but the machine
would not route to the Internet with this IP address on the interface and the
bogus route in place.

Removing the IP caused ALL routes to be deleted from the routing table,
and then manually adding them back in allowed the machine to work again for
a while, then it did it again.

It seemed the DHCP client kept trying to assign this bogus address to
the interface.

Deleting the DHCP client from the system fixed this issue but this should
not be necessary. It should not add a second IP to an interface with an
assigned static IP AND even if it did the route should not have interfered
with the default route but it did.

This is, to put it mildly, extremely unfriendly network behavior.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Deleting the DHCP client fixed the issue for me but this is obviously
undesirable for people without static IP space.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

After deleting the DHCP client my machine operated as expected. Also,
it booted nearly instantly where as before there was considerable delay while
DHCP tried to acquire an address even though the Interface had a static IP.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expect that if I have an interface configured with a static IP via
the Network Manager, DHCP client should NOT run on that interface at all.

Bug#931914: octave-octproj: FTBFS with PROJ 6

Source: octave-octproj
Version: 1.1.5-4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Your package FTBFS with PROJ 6 from experimental.

The attached patch fixes the issue by defining
ACCEPT_USE_OF_DEPRECATED_PROJ_API_H.

Note that this is only a temporary workaround, proj_api.h will be
removed in PROJ 7 scheduled for March 2020.

Upstream is aware of the issue, see:

Bug#931913: aptitude: The certificate is NOT trusted when using https to fetch packages from security.debian.org in buster

2019-07-12 Thread JL Lee

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.8.11-7
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After a fresh install of buster on my notebook, I installed the package
"aptitude" to manage my packages.

It reported to me there was an update (firefox-esr) available. At thispoint I
exited the app and changed the sources.list file entries to make all future
updates via https, instead of the default http.

When I run the aptitude app and did an update, it reports the following:

Failed to download some files

W: Failed to fetch
https://security.debian.org/debian-security/dists/buster/updates/Release:
Certificate verification failed. The certificate is NOT trusted...

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old one used
instead.

The warning goes away if I changed back to http instead of https for the
entries to security.debian.org in sources.list.

Thanks for your attention.

We're aware of the issue and we've already sketched out an outline to
get the fix into unstable (then migration to testing) but also into a
point release.

“Me too”-like messages mean distraction and wasted time, so it would be
great if we could avoid getting more of them.

Bug#931845: Cannot install solr-tomcat when building docker image

As I understand from the systemd documentation [1] this disables the
interactions with PID 1, so I guess it can only be used in a docker
environment otherwise the service will end in a weird state. Does it
work if you declare these variables in the dockerfile?

what about the other suggested workaround of simply adding the line

"d-i base-installer/includes string gnupg" to your preseed file?

Or if that's in use already you could use the early command like this:

d-i preseed/early_command string mkdir -p
/usr/lib/apt-setup/generators/; echo -e '#!/bin/sh\nchroot $ROOT apt-get
--yes --no-install-recommends install gnupg' >
/usr/lib/apt-setup/generators/59local; chmod a+x
/usr/lib/apt-setup/generators/59local

That said, I would also love to see this issue solved properly.

Bug#931912: Please do not Depends/Recommends against gnome-icon-theme

2019-07-12 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: info
Version: 6.6.0.dfsg.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

Kind regards,

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#931911: user-setup: Fails to present no-root-password_first-user-sudoer option as a reasonable choice

2019-07-12 Thread Philip Hands
Package: user-setup
Severity: normal

Prompted by this LWN comment relating to installing buster:

  https://lwn.net/Articles/792960/

"The installer text specifically said that not setting a root password
   was a Very Bad Idea"

looking at the text in question, I was surprised at how negative it is
about the completely reasonable choice of selecting no root password in
order to provoke the first-user-is-sudoer setup.

https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/user-setup/blob/master/debian/user-setup-udeb.templates#L37

I presume that this text is as it is because there is a previously
defined question about whether one wants a root login enabled, that
explains the way things will work with sudo if one chooses 'no':

https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/user-setup/blob/master/debian/user-setup-udeb.templates#L25

however, that question is no longer presented to users by default, so
they get dropped into the rather scary sounding text about why one needs
to set a root password.

It seems to me that we need to reword this completely, so that choosing
to leave the password blank is described as a reasonable thing to do,
which will result in a perfectly decent, and often desired, sudo setup.

Cheers, Phil.

It's an xf86-video-mach64 / xserver-xorg-video-mach64 patch, not a

Bug#899413: texlive-latex-extra: beamerthemeAachen.sty is missing package tangocolors

Hi Tobias,

Nor is it on CTAN, so we (upstream TeX Live) cannot package it.

You might try to ask the author to upload it to CTAN, here is a link
to one of the files with an email of the author. When it is on CTAN, it
will enter into TeX Live, and via that finds it
way into Debian ;-)

http://legacydirs.umiacs.umd.edu/~jiarong/poster/icml12-inferning/styles/tangocolors.sty

We could also go the the way round and blacklist beamerthemeAachen.sty
in TL, i.e. remove broken/incomplete style files from Debian.

Bug#928931: The inability to use apt-setup/local0/repository makes it impossible to upgrade to Debian 10

2019-07-12 Thread Magnus Määttä

Hi,

I'm also having this issue which is making it impossible to upgrade to
Debian 10 from Debian 9.

I'm depending on the possibility to add a repo during PXE-boot. Using
late-commands is not an option as there doesn't seem to be any
$selected_packages variable I can use to actually install the packages
selected during installtion, while ignoring the fact that it's
going to try to install them without the repo available, making the
installation fail anyway.

Someone gave the recommendation to use different preseed files, but that
also is not an option as the boot menu would need to have
50-100 entries to accommodate for the most common options of package
selections (which will make the size of the installation vary between

15GB and 80GB).

So for us, this is a real show stopper for using Debian 10 as it makes
it impossible to install (manual installation is not an option)..

/Magnus

Bug#921820: fwupd: provide a network service file

2019-07-12 Thread Mario.Limonciello
I think for some people downloading metadata automatically in a timer/cron type
way, may be useful but I think it's missing the last piece of integration to
notify folks; motd messaging to let people know updates are available.

Would you please consider bringing this discussion upstream? I think this even
makes sense outside of Debian and would like to see it implemented in a future
fwupd release directly.

Bug#931895: [b...@transient.nz: Bug#931895: unzip: zip bomb false positives in Java ecosystem]

2019-07-12 Thread Santiago Vila
Hello.

I applied your fix for the zip bomb issue to the Debian unzip package
and shortly afterwards I received this bug report from one of our users
(Ben Caradoc-Davies, in the Cc).

(Note: Our BTS is email-based, but I could also put an issue on github
if you prefer).

The full report is available here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931895

Thanks.

Dear Maintainer,

zip bomb detection introduced in 6.0-24 (see #931433
 and CVE-2019-13232)
causes unzip to reject many jar files distributed in the Java ecosystem.

Workaround is to downgrade to unzip 6.0-23.

Examples:

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a

Bug#931901: linux-image-4.19.0-5-amd64: incorrectly identifies some old Radeon HD as newer, preventing X from starting

2019-07-12 Thread Phil Reynolds
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.19.37-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I did a clean install of buster to my Lenovo Thinkpad X131e-AMD, but the kernel
thinks the onboard Radeon HD 6310 is a newer card (newer than R600), requiring
firmware to support modeswitching (KMS). However, this is incorrect.

I did try, for good measure, installing the supposedly-appropriate firmware
package, but this was, of course, ineffective.

The only fix was to install the kernel from stretch. This machine worked on
stretch without a problem. This does allow X to be started, which the kernel
from buster prevents.

The problem is similar to bug #927219.

I would not expect the kernel to break my setup in this way. This is a clear
kernel regression.

Bug#931900: Program crashes with message "free(): double free detected in tcache 2"

2019-07-12 Thread Alex Relis
Package: projectm-pulseaudio
Version: 2.1.0+dfsg-4+b4
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

First off, I'm new to the BTS so excuse me for not doing this right.
projectm-pulseaudio crashes after a few seconds in Buster. Typing "N" to
go to the next visualization effect crashes the program instantly. Here
is a log:

user@debian:~$ projectM-pulseaudio

Not a programmer so I really don't know what "free(): double free
detected in tcache 2", but I can only assume that's where the problem lies.

Thank you, and have a great day/night.

Bug#931899: login: still tries to open /etc/securetty

2019-07-12 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: login
Version: 1:4.7-1

According to the Debian changelog, login has stopped honoring
/etc/securetty, but journalctl shows that it complains about the now
missing file:

,
| Jul 12 08:47:31 turtle login[1039]: pam_unix(login:auth): Couldn't open
/etc/securetty: No such file or directory
| Jul 12 08:47:34 turtle login[1039]: pam_unix(login:auth): Couldn't open
/etc/securetty: No such file or directory
| Jul 12 08:47:34 turtle login[1039]: pam_unix(login:session): session opened
for user sven by LOGIN(uid=0)
| Jul 12 08:47:34 turtle systemd-logind[419]: New session 1 of user sven.
`

So why does login still try to open /etc/securetty?

Bug#923200: libpolkit-qt5-1-1 depends on libpam-systemd

2019-07-12 Thread Demi
I have to agree with Joshua -- programs like marble or kdenlive work
just fine without systemd, but this dependency keeps them from doing
so.

Since I have a couple of boxes that are pretty heavily tinkered with
(which makes them unattractive for systemd), I just tried it, apt-get
source-d libpolkit-qt5-1-1, removed the libpam-systemd dependency in
both places in debian/rules, built and installed the package, and the
(few) kde applications I've tried installed and ran without problem.

So -- it may be that some component of kde actually depends on
systemd, but given the wide-ranging consequences of this particular
dependency (essentially shutting out non-systemd boxes from KDE
applications) it'd be great if the dependency could be limited to
that particular component.

Bug#930118: libconfig-model-dpkg-perl: adds debian/compat despite debhelper-compat

It makes perfect sense :) Good job!

Cheers,
Alex
