Bug#306822: Please fix debian NVU bug #306822 - it would be very nice to have user-friendly Web creation software in Debian Sarge

2005-05-12 Thread AKL. Mantas Kriauciunas
Hi,

Please fix debian NVU bug #306822 - it would be very nice to have
user-friendly Web creation software in Debian Sarge.

As there are no old NVU version in Debian Sarge (testing) I think it would
be safe to upload current NVU with fixed debian bug #306822 into testing.

Please, apply this patch ASAP - it's not good to have buggy meld in Debian

Bug#242721: Please upload new version of mergeant (was: mergeant crashed when trying to exit save)

2005-03-30 Thread AKL. Mantas Kriauciunas
Hi,

Maybe this grave crash bug would be fixed if newer mergeant version
will be uploaded into debian ?

Currently in debian is 0.12, which is about 2 years old :( while
latest mergeant stable version is 0.52 and it's released ~ 9 months
ago ! (look at http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/mergeant/0.52/)

libgda/libgnomedb 1.2.0 was released on 2004/December/28
libgda/libgnomedb 1.2.1 was released on 2005/March/03

It seems now it's a good time update mergeant, right ?

Bug#275406: Please make a possibility to use swf-player separately from mozilla plugin

2005-03-30 Thread AKL. Mantas Kriauciunas
Hi,

Please don't close this bugreport without real bugfixing.

David Schleef [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
 The entire purpose of the player application is to be a helper
 app for the browser plugin. It is not intended to be used
 separately. For this purpose, the package name was poorly chosen.
 Please use totem-gstreamer to play SWF files outside the browser.

It would be very good if you make separate package for swf-player and
mozilla-plugin, so users will have an ability to play flash animations
without browser and without installing lots of gnome and gstreamer
packages (installation of totem-gstreamer requires almost all gnome :( ).

Another problem with playing swf with totem-streamer raises when user uses
totem-xine and doesn't want to use totem-gstreamer. For example for me
totem-gstreamer is too buggy and I use totem-xine which works fine for me.

Player and browser plugin are mentioned as separate programs in swfdec README:

Included is a simple SDL-based player and a Mozilla plugin that allows
the player to be embedded into your favorite browser.

(look at http://www.schleef.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/swfdec/README?view=markup )

Separate folder with separate makefile for player and for mozilla plugin
is in swfdec sources. Because of this I think it will be not hard to make
separate deb packages for player and for mozilla-plugin.

Btw, similar software - libflash has already splitted standalone player and
mozilla-plugin into separate debian packages, look at:

http://packages.debian.org/unstable/source/libflash
http://gplflash.sourceforge.net/

Thanks for developing and maintaining free software :)

Btw, there are several new versions (0.8.5, 0.8.6 and 0.9.9) of epox

Bug#257343: Should I report another bug (was: Please don't remove dillo from GNOME/KDE menus)

Hi,

 I agree with you, that dillo should have an icon in menu, also, that
 dillo.desktop should moved from /usr/share/gnome/apps/Internet/ to
 /usr/share/applications to follow freedesktop menu and desktop entry
 standards. Btw, I think dillo.desktop should be modified - not only icon
 entry, but also GenericName, Categories, MimeType and translations
 should be added:

 GenericName=Web Browser
 GenericName[lt]=Web narykl
 Categories=Application;Network;
 Name[lt]=Dillo
 Comment[lt]=Labai paprasta narykl
 MimeType=text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml+xml;

 (look at this howto for more info:
 http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-26875.html)

 So, I think subject of this bugreport should be changed to dillo
 desktop entry should have icon and follow freedesktop standards

It seems Dan Korostelev [EMAIL PROTECTED] doesn't care about this
bugreport (more than 2 months without answer) :(

Should I report another bug about missing icon and freedesktop menu and
desktop entry standarts or simply change subject of this bugreport ?

If nobody will answer me I change subject after one month ;)

Bug#290474: I can't boot 2.6.8 and 2.6.10 kernels on my system, while 2.6.7 starts without problems

2005-01-30 Thread AKL. Mantas Kriauciunas
Hi,

I can't boot 2.6.8 and 2.6.10 kernels on my system while 2.6.7 was
installed on same system and starts without problems few months ago.

I got the same error like others - cannot open dev/console, preceded
by a message from pivot_root which does not found the root partition.

I use grub and xfs file system on SATA drive (hde) on system with
Athlon (k7) CPU.

Tried several initrd versions (0.1.77, 0.1.76, 0.1.73, 0.1.67), but
without success :( AFAIK when I installed 2.6.7 kernel, then
initrd-tools version 0.1.67 were installed on my system and initrd was
generated corectly, this kernel starts without problems.

It seems bugs 290474 and 271038 are related - in both cases kernel
doesn't start with message cannot open dev/console: No such file

I can send initrd, generated when I install kernel-image 2.6.8 and
2.6.10, which doesn't start.

As upstream will never fix this bug in version 1.1.x it seems there is
only one way to make users happy - please modify PPD_PageSize (from

In current situation users don't understand why reconfiguring libpaper1

Bug#287499: Thanks for improving the usability of alsa-base debian package

Hi,

I just got bitten by this alsa-base bug on a sarge system, after
spending about 3 hours digging throug /etc folder :(
(My friend's laptop has both - 2.4 and 2.6 kernels and most of the time he
uses 2.4 because suspend doesn't work on 2.6 :( )

   too much confusion. (Closes: #287499, #290663)

Thanks for removing these evil aliases - they couse only hard to find
problems on systems with 2.4 kernels :(
In future make at least a debconf prompt for changes like this, because
now after upgrade my friend got system with not working sound (sound
modules were specified in /etc/modules ) and it was very hard to find
why modprobe i810_audio doesn't work :(

The best solution in this case would be runtime autodetecting if alsa
modules for booting kernel exit and disable oss modules only in such
a case.
