Bug#638817: gnome-settings-daemon crashes on startup, errors on libnotify

2011-11-03 Thread Alejandro Carrillo

Hello,

I'm sorry for not replying before; I've been mighty busy.

I'll try later this afternoon on my lunch break and get back to you.

Cheers,

Hi,

could you please test if you can still reproduce the crash with
gnome-settings-daemon from unstable (3.0.3-3).
Please also make sure to upgrade orbit2/liborbit2 (to 1:2.14.19-0.1).

Thanks,
Michael

Bug#638817: (no subject)

2011-08-30 Thread Alejandro Carrillo
I do not fully understand what the issue is, but I think that it is
an issue with libnotify rather than gnome-settings-daemon.

I'm not sure if it was a libnotify update that broke this package or
gnome-settings-daemon broke itself.

Running gnome-settings-daemon as root appears to be a workaround, and
allows the gtk2 themes to be loaded.

I can also confirm this.

Bug#638817: gnome-settings-daemon crashes on startup, errors on libnotify

2011-08-22 Thread José Alejandro Carrillo Neira
Package: gnome-settings-daemon
Version: 2.30.2-4
Severity: critical
Tags: wheezy
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Earlier today I rebooted my Debian system after a few updates, and I'm greeted
with no themes. A quick digging turns up that gnome-settings-daemon is crashing
due to libnotify erroring.

This is the message I get when I manually run it from a console:

erkurita@erkurro:~$ gnome-settings-daemon

(gnome-settings-daemon:6065): libnotify-WARNING **: you must call notify_init()
before showing
**
libnotify:ERROR:notification.c:568:notify_notification_show: code should not be
reached
