Thanks for your help. I installed the same firefox on another computer, without the kwallet plugin. There are at least some sites that autofill username and passwords without the kwallet plugin, but don't work with the plugin. For example, https://www.powells.com/login . I can confirm that on both machines (the kwallet machine and the non-kwallet machine), I have a stored username/password that can be viewed on the preferences screen. They autofill on the non-kwallet machine. They do not autofill on the kwallet machine.

Bug#790165: libreoffice-kde: crash on startup in kde, not in other environments
On Sunday, June 28, 2015 11:55:21 AM Rene Engelhard wrote: Hi, Can't reproduce in unstable (which should be similar enough to testing). # apt-get install kde-standard (no KDE installed before, thus everything bascially default) and it starts fine. Regards, Rene I created a new user account from the default skeleton, logged in to the KDE desktop and was able to use LO programs normally. So it must be some problem with my configuration that was causing the error. However, the problem persists in my old account even if I delete ~/.config/libreoffice . Not sure how to fix that, but I guess it's more of a tech support question than a bug. Bug#292997: /usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kontactknt.so is also in package kontact

(See questions below). apt fails to install because of the file conflict (see subject). - What package does apt fail to install, kontact or kontact-plugins? (I assume kontact-plugins, but just to make sure...) Yes, kontact-plugins - Why were you installing kontact-plugins? Did you 'apt-get install kontact-plugins'? If so, why? Or, perhaps some other package depended on it. If so, which package? I was trying out different PIM-systems for a project. apt-get install kontact used to recommend kontact-plugins, so I tried 'apt-get install kontact kontact-plugins', and the error occurred: Unpacking kontact-plugins (from .../kontact-plugins_4% 3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb) ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/kontact-plugins_4% 3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kontactknt.so', which is also in package kontact dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/kontact-plugins_4%3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb (The latest version of kontact no longer recommends kontact-plugins, it replaces it) - 'kontact-plugins' is no longer in the Debian archive, where did you get it from?: (a) What does 'apt-cache policy kontact-plugins' say? (b) What do you have in /etc/apt/sources.list? ~$ apt-cache policy kontact-plugins kontact-plugins: Installed: (none) Candidate: 4:3.2.3-2 Version Table: 4:3.2.3-2 0 500 http://debian.crosslink.net unstable/main Packages 4:3.2.3-2 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status debian.crosslink.net is on the official debian mirrors list; it is in my sources.list file. Once we get to know the above, we'll be in a position to see who is at fault here. Thanks!
