Bug#917059: apt-listbugs: New error message /etc/cron.daily/apt-listbugs: logname: no login name

2018-12-21 Thread Alex Gould
Package: apt-listbugs
Version: 0.1.26
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrade to the current version of apt-listbugs, I have been getting
messages in my local mail from "Anacron job 'cron.daily'" to root:

/etc/cron.daily/apt-listbugs:
logname: no login name
logname: no login name
logname: no login name
logname: no login name
logname: no login name

I'm not sure what it means -- is apt-listbugs or anacron trying to run a
process as a different user?

Package: amarok

Dear Maintainer,

Recently, Amarok stopped playing streams or audio files accessible via
http on the network.

For example: from the Playlist menu, choose "Add Stream..." Enter
http://stream1.opb.org/radio.mp3 . An item is added to the playlist, but
when selected for playback by double-clicking it, nothing plays.

Thank you for your work on this software!

Thanks for your help. I installed the same firefox on another computer,
without the kwallet plugin. There are at least some sites that autofill
username and passwords without the kwallet plugin, but don't work with
the plugin.

For example, https://www.powells.com/login . I can confirm that on both
machines (the kwallet machine and the non-kwallet machine), I have a
stored username/password that can be viewed on the preferences screen.
They autofill on the non-kwallet machine. They do not autofill on the
kwallet machine.

Bug#790165: libreoffice-kde: crash on startup in kde, not in other environments

I created a new user account from the default skeleton, logged in to the KDE
desktop and was able to use LO programs normally. So it must be some problem
with my configuration that was causing the error.

However, the problem persists in my old account even if I delete
~/.config/libreoffice .

Not sure how to fix that, but I guess it's more of a tech support question than
a bug.

Bug#790165: libreoffice-kde: crash on startup in kde, not in other environments

2015-06-27 Thread Alex Gould
Package: libreoffice-kde
Version: 1:4.4.4~rc2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

LibreOffice programs in KDE display the splash screen, seem to flash some
large window on the screen for a fraction of a second, and then exit.

If I run soffice, a dialog is displayed to open a file or create a new
document. After choosing any of those options, the program exits.

Under another window manager (fluxbox) the LibreOffice programs run as
expected and I am able to create and edit documents.

Thank you, Alex

Bug#787340: iceweasel: Ligatures displayed incorrectly

2015-05-31 Thread Alex Gould
Package: iceweasel
Version: 38.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Recently I have seen common Latin-alphabet ligatures (ff, fi, fl, etc.)
displayed
as odd pictograms. This happens both in web pages and within the program's
interface elements and text-input fields.

Thanks for your help,
Alex

Bug#732112: urlwatch: Change in lynx handling of relative URLs confuses html2txt.py

2013-12-14 Thread Alex Gould
Package: urlwatch
Version: 1.15-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I noticed that shortly after lynx in Debian testing moved to a new version, I
got spurious reports in the urlwatch that I run as a cron job. Example:

***
CHANGED: http://www.example.org/
***

I notice that at line 77 in urlwatch's html2txt.py script, there is a function
that is supposed to remove output like this from lynx. But it seems that the
output from lynx has changed, omitting the localhost portion of the file:
URL, and so the regexes in that function no longer catch and remove the
randomly generated URLs.

Thank you,
Alex

Bug#294596: LTAllMail: icon-button is inactive when monitored mailbox is empty

2005-02-10 Thread Alex Gould
Package: gdesklets-data
Version: 0.32
Severity: minor

The subject says it.

I guess it could be a feature, you don't want the button to launch
your mail-reader when there's no mail to read. But if the user wants the
button to run fetchmail or something, it's less useful.

I've only tested this with local mail spools, not other kinds of
mailboxes (POP, IMAP, etc.)

Thanks, Alex

Bug#294311: Error #1 when Yahoo sends a capcha quiz

2005-02-08 Thread Alex Gould
Package: fetchyahoo
Version: 2.8.6-4
Severity: important

The attached file is the page that fetchyahoo reports as an error after
failing to log in.

I opened it in my browser and completed the capcha quiz, but this does
not seem to help fetchyahoo.

I can still read my mail through the regular mail.yahoo.com web
interface and the login procedure is normal -- no visual identification
quizzes.

How can I reset my account, preferrably without lying and saying that I
am blind?

Bug#292997: /usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kontactknt.so is also in package kontact

2005-02-02 Thread Alex Gould

 Hi Alex!

Hello!

We need some more information to understand what has happened, could
you please provide? (See questions below).

apt fails to install because of the file conflict (see subject).

   - What package does apt fail to install, kontact or kontact-plugins?
(I assume kontact-plugins, but just to make sure...)

Yes, kontact-plugins

   - Why were you installing kontact-plugins? Did you 'apt-get install
kontact-plugins'? If so, why? Or, perhaps some other package
depended on it. If so, which package?

I was trying out different PIM-systems for a project. apt-get install
kontact used to recommend kontact-plugins, so I tried
'apt-get install kontact kontact-plugins',
and the error occurred:

Unpacking kontact-plugins (from .../kontact-plugins_4%
3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/kontact-plugins_4%
3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kontactknt.so', which is also in
package kontact
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/kontact-plugins_4%3a3.2.3-2_i386.deb

(The latest version of kontact no longer recommends kontact-plugins, it
replaces it)

   - 'kontact-plugins' is no longer in the Debian archive, where did you
get it from?: (a) What does 'apt-cache policy kontact-plugins' say?
 (b) What do you have in /etc/apt/sources.list?

~$ apt-cache policy kontact-plugins
kontact-plugins:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 4:3.2.3-2
  Version Table:
 4:3.2.3-2 0
500 http://debian.crosslink.net unstable/main Packages
 4:3.2.3-2 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

debian.crosslink.net is on the official debian mirrors list; it is in my
sources.list file.

Once we get to know the above, we'll be in a position to see who is at
   fault here. Thanks!

Thanks for your careful and quick attention to such an obscure problem.

Bug#293212: oopadmin wont use substitute font for missing Andale Sans UI

2005-02-01 Thread Alex Gould
Package: openoffice.org-debian-files
Version: 1.1.3-3+1
Severity: normal

I used the suggested fix for the openoffice interface fix (adding a font
replacement rule for Andale Sans UI). It works in all the editing modes
except for the printer admin. Since I don't have Andale Sans UI, the
text in the printer admin window is all little boxes.

There's no such package in Debian. Do you know where you got it from?
 What does
   dpkg -p kontact-plugins | grep Maintainer
 say?

Maintainer: Ben Burton [EMAIL PROTECTED]

my mistake. I guess it's left behind from some time when I had something
else in sources.list

Thanks for the quick response.
