when will you patch 2.6.18 in stable as this is much more important than

Hi,

  Hi,

  Le mardi 10 juillet 2007 à 21:30 -0400, Nima a écrit :
I don't think totem-mozilla is high-quality enough to be included with
gnome. It's unstable, unpolished, and slow, and I would strongly
prefer to just watch videos with an external player. Having gnome
depend on it also prevents people from choosing mozilla-mplayer, but I
don't think it needs to depend on either of them.

This was true at that moment, but in version 2.20, totem-mozilla
received much attention and is much more polished and stable.

You are right, totem-mozilla is of much better quality in 2.20. Great
work from upstream and Debian maintainers!

But this bug report was not about totem-mozilla as such (therefore
report is against gnome and not totem-mozilla) but more about the fact
that some people don't want to get videos opened inside the browser but
rather a windows asking for either playback or save. Always
right-clicking is not the right solution if you would like to switch off
this behaviour completely. And you can't remove this package as the
gnome metapackage depends on it instead of only recommend it.

Loic suggested to wait until the package managers can handle suggestions
correctly which was the right solution.

SO therefore I would like to ask you to reconsider this and reopen the
report.

Thanks and regards,
Amir

IMO it was a wrong decision to lower the severity. You are the package
maintainer, so please take care of it and increase the severity again.

Indeed. Moreover, this is hardly libxine1's fault, but a dependent
 package.

It is somehow libxine1's fault!!! On my up-to-date SID machine with
w32codecs installed, I just need to downgrade from 1.1.7-1 to
libxine1_1.1.2+dfsg-4 and I can watch all those movies without any
problems. Please also have a look at this thread [0] and the solution
(Sorry, in German. But you, Reinhard, should understand it :-) )

I don't know if this has already been fixed upstream, if you have time,
please try to find out (e.g. by compiling an fresh from svn copy of

Anyway, do you want me compile it the Debian way as there is a debian
folder in the svn or go the traditional way?

Could the correct decoding with libxine1 from oldstable be due to the
presence of unofficial packages (www.debian-multimedia.org), e.g.
 w32codecs and the like?

Indeed, w32codecs are installed on my system and without this package I
won't be able to watch any .wmv at all. But why does it work with the
older versions of libxine1 correctly and not with newer ones?

I guess it pretty much has to do with the additional packages you are
using, although I'm not sure. Please bug the supplier of these
 additional packages.

No, the newer version of libxine1 enables .wmv decoding and uses it, no
matter if w32codecs are installed or not. It is probably not yet
implemented completely.

Bug#417857: Menu item needs an icon

Package: debian-reference-common
Version: 1.11
Severity: minor

Hi,

As you are providing debian-reference-common with the menu file
/usr/share/applications/debian-reference-common.desktop, you should
also specify an item for it.

I would suggest to take /usr/share/pixmaps/debian-logo.png which comes
with debconf and is therefore mandatory on each system.

Bug#415436: libxine is broken, can't playback anything within gnome 2.16

Sorry for the lack of information.

By using libxine1 from experimental (1.1.4-2), none of the tools based
on xine (totem, [g]xine) can play any data.

Totem ends up with:
Totem could not play 'file:///home/amir/Desktop/movie.mpg'. or
Totem could not play 'file:///home/amir/Desktop/music.mp3'.
There is no plugin to handle this movie.

gxine ends up with for both, movies and mp3:
xine-lib: error: The xine engine failed to start.: No demuxer found -

xine-lib: error: Whoops. You seem to have a broken xine-lib.: No demuxer

If this information is not sufficient, just give me another shout and I
will provide more information.

This patch removes the erroneous conflict between libswt3.2-gtk-java

I edited the conf-file of libswt3.2-gtk-java without building all

problems. Please apply the patch or - in my eyes the best idea - merge
libswt3.2-gtk-java and libswt-gtk-3.2-java.

Bug#340998: Eclipse and azureus in SID

2007-01-19 Thread Amir Tabatabaei
Hi,

what does this all mean now for the actual situation in SID? How can it
be solved that e.g. Azureus and Eclipse can be used both together
without any conflicts?

Thx,
Amir

Bug#406914: azureus: new version: 2.5.0.2

2007-01-17 Thread Amir Tabatabaei
Hi,

Eclipse and Azureus cannot be installed on my system (SID up-to-date)
simultaneously because of the different swt* dependents. Will this be
fixed in the new version, too? And are you going to upload the new
version to experimental as the release of etch will probably take a few
month?

Regards
Amir

Thanks for your report.

What makes you think it is a bug in metacity and not in xine-ui?

  Bye,

I have even installed sawfish for getting sure that it really comes from
metacity and not xine-ui. Using sawfish it behaves as it has to but
  using metacity the problem remains.

Do you have disabled raise on click? In GConf, this is
the /apps/metacity/general/raise_on_click key. When I do that, I see the
 same behavior in tomboy.

It was already disabled in my configuration but I'm using this
configuration and PC now for several years and had never such a
behavior. I also created a complete new user with default settings
(where the above mentioned key is enabled) and again the same. Disabling
the key was with no changes.
