Hi, From: Josselin Mouette [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Nima [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#430024: Gnome should not depend on totem-mozilla Date: Sun, 25 Nov 2007 15:38:35 +0100 Mailer: Evolution 2.12.0 Hi, Le mardi 10 juillet 2007 à 21:30 -0400, Nima a écrit : I don't think totem-mozilla is high-quality enough to be included with gnome. It's unstable, unpolished, and slow, and I would strongly prefer to just watch videos with an external player. Having gnome depend on it also prevents people from choosing mozilla-mplayer, but I don't think it needs to depend on either of them. This was true at that moment, but in version 2.20, totem-mozilla received much attention and is much more polished and stable. You are right, totem-mozilla is of much better quality in 2.20. Great work from upstream and Debian maintainers! But this bug report was not about totem-mozilla as such (therefore report is against gnome and not totem-mozilla) but more about the fact that some people don't want to get videos opened inside the browser but rather a windows asking for either playback or save. Always right-clicking is not the right solution if you would like to switch off this behaviour completely. And you can't remove this package as the gnome metapackage depends on it instead of only recommend it. Loic suggested to wait until the package managers can handle suggestions correctly which was the right solution. SO therefore I would like to ask you to reconsider this and reopen the report. Thanks and regards, Amir

The new package (2.14.5-2) that just entered unstable did not solve this problem. Thanks for your report. What makes you think it is a bug in metacity and not in xine-ui? Bye, I have even installed sawfish for getting sure that it really comes from metacity and not xine-ui. Using sawfish it behaves as it has to but using metacity the problem remains. Do you have disabled raise on click? In GConf, this is the /apps/metacity/general/raise_on_click key. When I do that, I see the same behavior in tomboy. It was already disabled in my configuration but I'm using this configuration and PC now for several years and had never such a behavior. I also created a complete new user with default settings (where the above mentioned key is enabled) and again the same. Disabling the key was with no changes.
