Bug#959094: mailman3 failed after dpkg-reconfigure

2020-04-29 Thread Antoon Pardon
Package: mailman3
Version: 3.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After installing PostgreSQL I started dpkg-reconfigure mailman3
At the end it stated:

   *Service for mailman3 failed.

The mailman3 service didn't start correctly. This is probably because
you didn't configure the database appropriately.
The service won't work until you do so.
If you actually DID install the database appropriately, please report

As far as I could make out, the problem was caused by choosing a
password with special characters which resulted in an unusable
database url.

Bug#726381: xfce4-terminal automatically backgrounds itself

2013-10-15 Thread Antoon Pardon
Package: xfce4-terminal
Version: 0.6.2-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I sometimes write scripts that pop-up a terminal emulator that
will continue after the process in the terminal is terminated.
However that seems to be impossible with xfce4-terminal because
as far as I can see if an xfce4-terminal is already open the
launched proces seems to instruct the already running process
to open an new window at which point the newly launched process
disappears. I consider this a bug since that behaviour is not
documented and it makes it impossible to use xfce4-terminal
as a replacement for xterm in scripts.

Bug#718320: iceowl-extension: Problematic calendar file freezes icedove

2013-08-01 Thread Antoon Pardon
I'm sorry but I can no longer reproduce the behaviour.
I included the calendar file as I did before and everything
kept working. No freeze up. Should the problem reoccur I'll
try out the procedure described in the wiki and send you
the information requested.

But for now everything seems to run fine.

Bug#698041: iceowl-extension: Edit problems with tasks on yahoo calendar

2013-01-13 Thread Antoon Pardon
Package: iceowl-extension
Version: 10.0.11-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

I needed to adapt a task on my yahoo calendar.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I double clicked on the task in question. An edit window
for the task opened. I changed a few things and then
I clicked on the save and close item.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Nothing. The edit window remained open. None of the
menu/icon options to save or close the edit window
within the edit-window seemed to work. I was able
to close the window through the taskbar icon but
all adaptations were lost.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I would hav expected my adaptations to be saved
and the edit-window to close

Bug#499278: xorg: CTRL-ALT-Fn Doesn't work properly

Your hardware is pretty recent, it might be good if you could test the
latest upstream git, it could be better. You can either build it
manually (look at http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/10936.html and replace
intel with ati), or just upgrade your X packages to experimental.

Today I found the time to try out your proposal.

First of all, you should include a line to alert the reader that the
package autoconf needs to be installed. Otherwise the autogen.sh scripts
aborts with the message:

./autogen.sh: line 9: autoreconf: command not found

Or maybe the apt-get build-dep should have installed that?

After installing autoconf I got the following:

/usr/local/src/ati/xf86-video-ati# ./autogen.sh
autoreconf: Entering directory `.'
autoreconf: configure.ac: not using Gettext
autoreconf: running: aclocal

If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
  See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:39: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL

You need libtool, automake and xutils-dev. They're not pulled in by
apt-get build-dep because that step is done before upload for the
 packages.

OK, all done, finished the compilation and installation. No change in
behaviour.

This is a recent optiplex 755 from dell. I installed it with etchandahalf.
It came with the following versions:

xorg1:7.1.0-19
xserver-xorg1:7.1.0-19
xserver-xorg-core 2:1.1.1-21etch5

CTRL-ALT-Fn sort of worked. When returning to the graphical environment
the colors were mixed up. Then I upgraded to the following versions

xorg1:7.3+16
xserver-xorg1:7.3+16
xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.2-5

Which resulted in the symptoms I described.

Bug#499238: xorg: No input possible after upgrade

2008-09-17 Thread Antoon Pardon
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.3+16
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading xorg and related packages, the computer no
longer responds to mouse movements and keyboard input.

It doesn't matter whether I try with gdm or via the console
and startx. I tried to build a new xorg.conf with dexconf but
that didn't make a difference.

Yes that solved the problem, thanks! Strange that those weren't
installed when I upgraded x11-common, xorg, xorg-server and
xorg-server-core or on a dist-upgrade.

Bug#481356: xserver-xorg-video-intel has unmet dependencies

2008-05-15 Thread Antoon Pardon
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.1.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

** Please type your report below this line ***

I had some problem doing an upgrade of all xserver-xorg packages, so
I thought I tried installing them one by one to get a better
understanding of which one was causing trouble. I got the following
 message:

 # apt-get install -d xserver-xorg-video-intel

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
 that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Bug#375963: fvwm: CTRL+ALT+Fi doesn't change to other vti

2006-08-28 Thread Antoon Pardon

The problem IMO is realy with fvwm because:

1) I have no problem changing to an other vti
with CTRL+ALT+Fi when I am at the xdm login screen.
or I am working under gnome

2) fvwm is launched rather late into the .xsession
So there is a window of opportunity that I can
try CTRL+ALT+Fi, without fvwm running. At that
moment I have no problem switching to an other
vti. But once fvwm is running it no longer works.
