Package: r8168-dkms
Version: 8.051.02-2
Followup-For: Bug #1040604

Andreas,

I am trying to use r8168-dkms because my card is not working properly with
r8168 but the module is never loaded.

I have already manually blacklisted r8169.

dkms is reporting correct installation of r8168 module

$ sudo dkms status
r8168/8.051.02, 6.1.0-13-amd64, x86_64: installed

But on the logs I get the following

Οκτ 16 12:29:17 hpatom kernel: r8168: module verification failed: signature
and/or required key missing - tainting kernel

IMHO this check should be done by aprx and if mycall is not configured should

Bug#784860: splat: New upstream version (1.4.2) Available

2018-11-13 Thread Apostolos
Package: splat
Version: 1.4.0-3+b1
Followup-For: Bug #784860

Dear Maintainer,

please consider updating SPLAT to version 1.4.2 as it resolve some nasty bugs.

I spent a couple of hours only to finally find that the image size written to
the header of Xastir-compatible
.ppm maps was a known bug and corrected in version 1.4.1.

Thank you in advance
Apostolos

Do not parse the stupid (tv broadcast engineer who configured the) NIT

Bug#521675: pulseaudio: if autospawned by a service it can lock users out of the audio device

2015-02-23 Thread Apostolos Kefalas
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 5.0-13
Followup-For: Bug #521675

Dear Maintainer,

this report is just to verify that the same bug is affected except from speech-
dispacher, also from sl-modem-daemon package.

sl-modem-daemon is started at boot time and takes over the soundcard

$ sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

/dev/snd/pcmC0D6c: Slmodemd 1061 F slmodemd
/dev/snd/pcmC0D6p: Slmodemd 1061 F slmodemd

$ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon restart
[ ok ] Restarting sl-modem-daemon (via systemctl): sl-modem-daemon.service.

$ sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
 USERPID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: akefalas 1888 F pulseaudio
 Slmodemd 2151 F slmodemd
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: akefalas 1888 F...m pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: akefalas 1888 F...m pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D6c: Slmodemd 2151 F slmodemd
/dev/snd/pcmC0D6p: Slmodemd 2151 F slmodemd

after restarting sl-modem-daemon, pulseaudio takes control of soundcard and
everything works fine!!!

Bug#741694: hplip: Cartridge not latched

2014-03-15 Thread Apostolos
Package: hplip
Version: 3.14.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have an HP DeskJet F2180. After last aptitude full-upgrade on 14/3/2014 hp-
toolbox reports the error Catridge not latched.

Checking at Ink level tab, I can see only the color cartridge, no black.

hp-check -t reports that cups is not running, although it is running fine. I
can see and admin printers on localhost:631.

I can not print at all.

if I kill hp-toolbox, printing is working perfectly!!!

2014-01-26 Thread Apostolos Kefalas
Using $ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l2convert.so jitsi

returns the following error:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l2convert.so'
from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

So since I am on 64-bit I should use

$ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l2convert.so jitsi

changing i386-linux-gnu to x86_64-linux-gnu I get the option to
select my webcam and video is working perfect!!!

When i use a usb3 port it doesn't move at all and if i use a usb2 port
its slow. When i use the front panel it works flawlessly. Could this be
related to my POS Intel motherboard?

Kind regards and apologies if i raise a false alarm.

I'll try to work on it as soon as I find some time for that.

  1) Can you try it on a 3.2 kernel ?

I can try that too, I'll let you know how it went.

Same thing, it doesn't work.

/var/log. This causes problems on other daemons that wan to write to
logfiles and suddenly loose their permissions. For example:

um, i wasn't aware that the cacti package *even created* a cacti
user... grepping through the maintainer scripts seems to reinforce
this impression i had. do you promise that you didn't create a cacti
user and do the chown yourself? :)

Bug#355567: cacti changes ownership in all /var/log

2006-03-06 Thread Kefalas Apostolos
Package: cacti
Version: 0.8.6c-7sarge2

Installation of cacti changes the ownership of all directories of /var/log.
This causes problems on other daemons that wan to write to logfiles and
suddenly loose their permissions. For example:

# ls -al /var/log/exim4/
total 56
drwxr-s--- 2 cacti adm 4096 Mar 6 06:26 .
drwxr-xr-x 14 cacti root 4096 Mar 6 06:26 ..
-rw-r- 1 Debian-exim adm 2488 Mar 6 15:07 mainlog
-rw-r- 1 Debian-exim adm 5362 Mar 6 06:07 mainlog.1
-rw-r- 1 Debian-exim adm 551 Feb 26 06:26 mainlog.10.gz

#cat /var/log/syslog

[snip]

Mar 5 06:26:02 router exim[3280]: 2006-03-05 06:26:02 1FFknm-qu-F8 Cannot
open main log file /var/log/exim4/mainlog:

Solution

# chown Debian-exim:adm /var/log/exim4

Apostolos
