Bug#1064235:

2024-04-18 Thread Arthur LUTZ
Hi,

A small heads up on this issue, we have some minor impacts :

* sudo commands show a warning

sudo: unable to resolve host example: Name or service not known

On a more problematic side (but not breaking) we have filebeat that
generates a lot of logs with warnings related to the change :

* Failed looking up CNAME: lookup ip-10-31-51-7 on 10.31.48.2:53: no such
host: failed looking up IP: lookup ip-10-31-51-7 on 10.31.48.2:53: no such
host, using hostname = ip-10-31-51-7 as FQDN

Our workaround so far is to install `libnss-resolve` in our packer build of
the AMI that is based on the debian bookworm AMI.

Bug#783799: shinken: retention modules should not be activated by default

2015-04-30 Thread Arthur Lutz
Package: shinken
Version: 2.0.3-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

While debuging a problem with our install of shinken, we explored the
modules enabled in the broker, the arbiter and the scheduler on IRC
with upstream. They seem to think that the retention modules should
not be activated by default for the broker and the arbiter (scheduler
can be left with the retention module).

I'm not sure this is correct, but here is a bug report to start the
discussion.

Arthur

ps. disabling them hasn't fixed by problems (yet)

Dear Maintainer,

in /etc/monit/monitrc the only include is to

   include /etc/monit/monitrc.d/*

but some files are packaged and delivered in /etc/monit/monitrc.d/,
is this the new default location of configuration files ? If so
maybe monitrc should be changed ? Adding (prefered) or replacing
the historical include

   include /etc/monit/monitrc.d/*

Thanks

Bug#722714: include /etc/monit/monitrc.d/* in /etc/monit/monitrc ?

2013-09-13 Thread Arthur Lutz

Package: monit
Version: 1:5.4-2
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

in /etc/monit/monitrc the only include is to

   include /etc/monit/monitrc.d/*

but some files are packaged and delivered in /etc/monit/monitrc.d/,
is this the new default location of configuration files ? If so
maybe monitrc should be changed ? Adding (prefered) or replacing
the historical include

   include /etc/monit/monitrc.d/*

Thanks

Bug#588436: backuppc: Have an authenticated access for personnal backups

2011-10-03 Thread Arthur Lutz
Hi,

Thanks for the explanation, but this does not fit my use case. I have a
home with multiple users using it, so I want to give access to paul
(only for /home/paul) and alice (only for /home/alice). I think that
your instructions work for a setup where paul and alice use a different
machine so they have access to separate backups... here they both use
the same machine (shared NFS server)...

Can you re-open this bug ?

Arthur

 Hi !

In fact you can already do this. In the 'hosts' files, you have a
'user' field. That's the name of the use that can access the backup.
 So you just need to:
1- set-up kerberos auth on your Apache server,
2- the kerberos users and the ones in 'hosts' should match
 3- create a user.pl for each /home/user

So user paul would have access to /home/paul for example.

I couldn't find a bugtracker for the upstream of backuppc so I'm putting it

Bug#602375: inosync: Add and init.d startup script

Hi,

We have a few inosync scripts launched at startup and for that
we use a cron @reboot, which is not the best way to do it. It
would be usefull to have a init.d startup script and a configuration
file pointing to multiple configurations so as to launch multiple
instances of inosync at boot up.

Thanks for a usefull program.

Bug#571212: Bug #571212,munin generates graphs correctly but does not generate links

2010-03-08 Thread Arthur Lutz
Hi,

from your commands I get a perfectly normal log, no errors. I get the usual
pair of processing creating
page. Then at the end it creates the comparaison pages, the service pages, the
group pages etc. It's just
that in those pages there are no links to the other pages.

Sorry, for security reasons I can't really attach the log file (and obscuring
it would take a while).

I was trying to compare logs and realized that not only I'm changing
architectures, but I'm migrating from
1.2.6 (lenny) to 1.4.3 (squeeze) - any special procedure for this ?

Thanks for this debugging. Any other leads ?

 Hi Arthur,

I haven't seen this behavior before, but I can offer some places to look:

/var/log/munin/munin-html.log by default logs very little. Try running it with
 debug on. For example:

 su - munin -s /bin/bash
 /usr/share/munin/munin-html --debug

I'm attaching a standard output of munin-html.log from my system with debug
on, so you'll have a point of reference.

Downgrading to 1.2.6 (lenny) I get a bunch of :

Does that help ?

Bug#571212: munin generates graphs correctly but does not generate links

2010-02-24 Thread Arthur Lutz
Package: munin
Version: 1.4.3-2
Severity: important

I'm migrating from a host to another. I've tried with existing RDD (converted)
data files, and with and fresh /var/lib/munin/ but in both cases I get the
same result.

The graphs generate correctly, I don't see any errors in
/var/log/munin/munin-html.log

The index files are empty shells. They just display the munin headers and
that's it.
The files exist so I can navigate by typing the URLs.

Thanks for any tips, places to look.

Arthur

Bug#520111: cssh doesn't work with awesome, retiling shows only titles

2009-03-17 Thread Arthur Lutz
Package: awesome
Version: 3.2~rc4-1
Severity: normal

cssh is a great utility that dispatches commands to multiple machines through
ssh and tiles the terminals conviniently.

I used to use it on an ion3 floating workspace, but can't get it to work on
any layout in awesome. I'm using uxterm and can attach my .csshrc if needed.

On a floating layout, it seems to tile the terminals quite well but only
displays
the title bars (I use use_titlebar = true)

If this is a cssh bug, please tell me.

Bug#511877: [twinkle] no sound with alsa/pulseaudio

2009-02-04 Thread Arthur Lutz
We've found a way of making twinkle work with a pulseaudio setup (on
ltsp).

You have to launch twinkle with padsp and then configure as follows :

# Ring tone : OSS /dev/dsp
# Speaker : OSS /dev/dsp
# Microphone : ALSA default device

Hope this helps.

well, all ldm does is call the server's /etc/X11/Xsession with default as an
argument. i think /etc/X11/Xsession first checks for ~/.xsession, failing
 that,
tries x-session-manager, failing that, tries x-window-manager, and failing
that, i think it tries an x-terminal-emulator. but if you've gotten that far,
you're already well past what ldm does...

the version of ldm in experimental uses the user's ~/.dmrc to determine which
session to try, which should be the same as what GDM uses.

if you select the Default session from GDM, i think it should use
 ~/.xsession if present.

The .xession, .dmrc are all in place, I still don't understand where it
is bugging, or even where I can find some debugging information. Nowhere
in the logs (client or server) do I find any usefull information.

I even tried to add set -x to the scripts in /usr/lib/ldm/scripts
but nothing came out of that.

Any clues on how to proceed ? (I'm back on Version: 2:2.0.6-4 because
the upgrade of ltsp-client-core made things worse (no X - probably needs
to upgrade all packages...)

this was fixed upstream in 2.0.21, and fixed in the debian experimental upload

I am running ltsp in mixed environnement (not lenny) so I was able to add

unfortunately, it would likely be difficult to backport those changes to the
version in lenny, especially this late in the freeze.

When I reboot, I login, correct password and all, black screen
and it comes back to the ldm prompt.

i'm not sure i understand you here, you mean that you cannot login after
rebooting the thin client? or it merely doesn't default to the previously
 selected session?

Both. It doesn't remember the previously selected session, and loops back to
ldm when correct password is entered.

Selecting the session works, but I have to do it everytime I use ldm.

Where is this info about default session taken ? (with gdm it remembers
  fine...)

it uses the defaults for /etc/alternatives/x-session-manager, which is a
 systemwide default.

$ update-alternatives --config x-session-manager

There are 4 alternatives which provide `x-session-manager'.

  1/usr/bin/startkde
*+2/usr/bin/startlxde
  3/usr/bin/openbox-session
  4/usr/bin/gnome-session

 to configure per-user, you'd need to create a ~/.xsession
for each user that sets the session.

I have an ~/.xsession with ion3 in it. I just realized it
didn't have the +x in it's attributes, I've added and with test
on next reboot.

Nope, not better.

Bug#495791: gyrus: Segfaults on badlogin

2008-08-20 Thread Arthur Lutz
Package: gyrus
Version: 0.3.7-1
Severity: important

Our cyrus server is plugged into a kerberos authentification, and when I
try to logging using gyrus I get a segfault after having typed my
password.

On the server side I get the following error :

  Aug 20 14:42:37 cassiopeia cyrus/imap[20588]: badlogin: crater.logilab.fr
[172.17.1.4] plaintext arthur SASL(-13): authentication failure: checkpass
failed

I might add the following wish : use the kerberos ticket, enabling a
passwordless administration.

Probably because that way asterisk runs as root, while the init script

You probably have some configuration files owned by root and with no

What operations, exactly? 603? Where exactly do you see such a
 message?

I was getting it on my Twinkle phone.

Is this from asterisk running as root?

Indeed, I hadn't realised.

Please avoid doing that. It is a bad security practice.

If you really need to run Asterisk interactively to debug its startup,
 use:

   /etc/init.d/asterisk debug

Or make sure you add '-U asterisk' to the command-line.

got it. Thanks.

Can the permission denied come from the php import in dial.php ?

 ls -ld /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/ /usr/share/asterisk

 head /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/dial.php

Got it. The agi-bin was not world readable/executable :

# ls -ld /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/ /usr/share/asterisk
drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Dec 26 18:13 /usr/share/asterisk
drwxr-x--- 2 root root 4096 Feb 5 09:20 /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/

I then did a

# chmod a+rx /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/

And it works. Thanks for helping out.

As you probably noticed, this run of siege.config doesn't seem to
generate the error you described in the bug report, so please, try to
reproduce the error (running siege.config using 'bash -x'), and send the
output again. Maybe you should move your ~/.siegerc file away?

Indeed,

$ mv .siegerc .siegerc.bak
$ /bin/sh -x `which siege.config`
+ rcfile=/home/arthur/.siegerc
+ test -f /home/arthur/.siegerc
/usr/bin/siege.config: 24: Syntax error: Bad substitution

hope this helps... sure doesn't look very verbose to me.

There's no package 'glasnost' in Debian. Do you know where you

sorry, i though reportbug submitted the bugreport to the appropriate

wrong. (I'm CCing to Frederic Peters)
