Bug#969188: Upstream informed of RFP
I mentioned this RFP to the Duplicati issues just to centralise the information. At this stage the project doesn't have the resources to complete the packaging. https://github.com/duplicati/duplicati/issues/4305
Bug#969188: RFP: duplicati -- user-friendly remote, encrypted, incremental backups; capable GUI via built-in local server
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: duplicati Version : 2.0 Upstream Author : Kenneth Skovhede , Rene Stach * URL : http://www.duplicati.com/ * License : LGPL-2.1 Programming Lang: C# Description : user-friendly remote, encrypted, incremental backups; capable GUI via built-in local server I have looked at most of the backup packages in Debian and duplicati has a better combination ot features and ease-of-use, at least for personal use. It can perform remote, encrypted, incremental backups over several transports. It has a very capable GUI with well-designed configuration options. It makes a pragmatic, simplifying default choice of largely trusting the user's machine but not the remote host. The built-in web server for configuration and administration is very convenient (and excellent for remote administration using port forwarding). A debian package exists and requires little more than automated installation of systemd configuration.
Bug#682426: #682426 - related ghostscript changelog?
http://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/News.htm Version 9.14 (2014-03-26) ... Ghostscript now reduces memory usage when processing PDF files that use transparency and output is to display devices such as Windows display or x11 (i.e. devices that are strictly full framebuffer devices), and to high level vector devices that cannot reproduce the PDF transparency model, such as the ps2write device or pdfwrite when 'flattening' to PDF 1.3 or earlier (- dCompatibilityLevel=1.3). This uses banding (clist) files to render the transparent areas in bands to reduce memory use, and unlike the existing page level banding, this is hidden from the target device. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I'm interested in obtaining the sogo-connector, as this seems to be the only way to sync contacts with owncloud. I'd prefer to get it through the debian repositories. Bug#746036: iceowl-extension: Event not shown when calendar view refreshed.
Package: iceowl-extension Version: 24.4.0-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Using the default local calendar (home), I create an event and save it. It is shown in the Week view. If I switch tabs, synchronise, switch views, and the return to the view, it has disappeared. It seems that any refresh of the view causes the event to disappear. If I select it from the events list above the view and resave it, the event reappears until the next refresh. The event remains visible in the Multiweek view, but shows the disappearing behaviour in Day, Week and Month views. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'stable'), (600, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages iceowl-extension depends on: ii icedove 24.4.0-1 ii libc62.18-4 ii libgcc1 1:4.8.2-16 ii libnspr4 2:4.10.4-1 ii libnspr4-0d 2:4.10.4-1 ii libstdc++6 4.8.2-16 Versions of packages iceowl-extension recommends: ii calendar-google-provider 24.4.0-1 Versions of packages iceowl-extension suggests: ii fonts-lyx 2.0.6-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#563748: installation-reports: Provide script to update resume and uswsusp.conf files?
Thanks for looking at this old bug. Yes, fine by me to close the bug. Perhaps my main problem as an inexperienced user was just discovering which package should generate the files (i.e. it was less obvious for /etc/initramfs- tools/conf.d/resume). Maybe this discussion will help others in the same situation. Quoting Boris Barbour (boris.barb...@ens.fr): On migrating my long-running system to a new disk (by cp), I discovered that /etc/uswsusp.conf and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume then contained stale information regarding the partition to resume from. apt-file reports no package as responsible for these files; they appear to have been written out by the installer. It might be useful to provide a small script to update these files (update-resume-info?). Changes in the way devices are represented or the configuration of other disks in the computer may also be a scenarios where such an updater would prove useful. I doubt this should be in the scope of the installer. As you mentioned, the job was done properly during the initial install. I doubt, by the way, that this initial setting of the resume partition was done by D-I itself. It happened during the installation of the uswsusp package. What you want is probably something that belongs to that one package. It's indeed probably enough to just dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp. Hi Boris, Christian, The files /etc/uswsusp.conf and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume are conffiles, but these files are different in every host, so we shouldn't include them as conffiles. See [1] and [2]. For this reason you cannot find them using 'apt-file' or 'dpkg -S'. IMO, the current configuration (no automatic conffile) is right. When you move your filesystems, some things could change. For example, the /etc/fstab could be different. If you change the machine, the hardware could be different and some drivers (pe. video) should be changed. In those cases, you edit the fstab file and update your X11 package. Why should be different with uswsusp? uswsusp doesn't have any bug, simply your filesystems are different and you should reconfigure it. 'dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp' do it. IMO, nothing is wrong, your script update-resume-info is dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp and probably this bug should be closed. Please, tell us if you agree with closing this bug. Best regards, kix. Bug#605210: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: cdrom stops working
Was this a regression? I tested this by booting off a couple of live cds of debian 5.09 (it must have worked back then) and 6.03. The live cds work on another computer, but didn't get much beyond the boot menu here. A newer kernel (3.2) was also no help. It now seems most likely that the drive itself is broken (and that I have lots of broken drives). If a new drive works I won't be chasing this further. Sorry for the noise. Bug#658778: Suspend from X session hangs Asus laptop.
Thanks for the quick reply, Jonathan. Is this a regression? Not really (the machine is new). I tried older debian 5.09 and 6.03 live cds. With 6.03 suspending from a session worked under some conditions (lid) but not all (menu). Does suspend-to-disk (triggered with echo disk /sys/power/state This doesn't work. ) work? If you have time to follow the instructions from basic-pm-debugging.txt[1] to narrow down the cause, that would be very useful. Thanks for the pointer! For some reason I didn't find it while searching around (we beginners don't know to search for pm- instead of suspend). Maybe a link could be added on the debian wiki at http://wiki.debian.org/Suspend ? The shutdown method described in the document seems to work. But it is a bit clunky and it wasn't immediately obvious how to set this option permanently or whether it even applies to suspend to RAM (more for the wiki...) In the meantime I found the following site http://thecodecentral.com/2011/01/18/fix-ubuntu-10-10-suspendhibernate-not- working-bug and shamelessly copy-pasted the suggested script. It works pretty well - the only obvious problem at the moment is that waking from sleep requires a press of the power button (lid-opening doesn't suffice). But at least there is no freeze with data loss and reboot. Huge progress. The working shutdown method suggests a bios issue and the copied script indicates a usb problem. Follow up might therefore look at the usb settings in the bios and investigate a bios upgrade (the changelog mumbles something about usb). The comments on the web site suggest that the solution has helped a lot of people and with different machines. Thanks and best wishes, Boris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#605210: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: cdrom stops working
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-27 Severity: important If a cdrom is inserted, things work for a short while. I can for instance read one or two files on the CD. Bug#595148: xserver-xorg: xorg freeze with 100% CPU, possibly VT switch or resume related.
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.5+6 Severity: important I am writing this from a machine on which cpu usage by xorg is stuck at 100%. This happens quite often, but never during continuous single-user use, so I think it is triggered by VT switching or possibly upon resuming. The symptom is either the monitor displays an out of range error or the screen is frozen, with only the mouse moving - impossible to click on anything, switch VT etc. I can however ssh into the machine and thus see that xorg is occupying one cpu totally. Hi, At least revision -8 (linux-image-2.6.32-2-*) would help, revision -9 (linux-image-2.6.32-3-*) is going to be available shortly (currently in NEW). In the meanwhile, passing i915.powersave=0 through your kernel command line might help. I had overlooked the availablity of the -2 version of that kernel. I have installed it and 3d acceleration is back $ glxinfo | grep render direct rendering: Yes OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 965G GEM 20090712 2009Q2 RC3 Thank you. I confused the two bugs (#571273 and #571289) in reporting success. In any case, with the linux-image-2.6.32-2-amd64 kernel X now starts successfully AND 3d acceleration works. Thank you. Bug#563748: installation-reports: Provide script to update resume and uswsusp.conf files?
Package: installation-reports Severity: wishlist On migrating my long-running system to a new disk (by cp), I discovered that /etc/uswsusp.conf and /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume then contained stale information regarding the partition to resume from. apt-file reports no package as responsible for these files; they appear to have been written out by the installer. It might be useful to provide a small script to update these files (update-resume-info?). Bug#553404: cups: n-up printing incorrect
Package: cups Version: 1.3.11-1+b1 Severity: normal n-up printing does not work correctly. Use of the -o number-up=2 option (with the lpr command) causes two pages of the original document to be printed in half the output sheet (as if n-up=4 had been chosen). If I use -o number-up=4, the 4 pages are printed squashed into a quarter of the sheet. From okular (where I first discovered the bug), if I change the page order (from default LRTB to BTLR) 2-up printing then causes two full sheets of paper with the original pages sizes to be printed. Changing to landscape does not solve the problem in okular at least. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cups depends on: ii adduser3.111 add and remove users and groups ii bc 1.06.94-3.1 The GNU bc arbitrary precision cal ii cups-client1.3.11-1+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii cups-common1.3.11-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.27Debian configuration management sy ii ghostscript8.70~dfsg-2+b1The GPL Ghostscript PostScript/PDF ii libavahi-compat-libdns 0.6.25-1 Avahi Apple Bonjour compatibility ii libc6 2.9-25GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcups2 1.4.1-4 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsimage2 1.3.11-1+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libdbus-1-31.2.16-2 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgcc11:4.4.1-4 GCC support library ii libgnutls262.8.3-3 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.7dfsg~beta3-1 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries - k ii libijs-0.350.35-7IJS raster image transport protoco ii libkrb5-3 1.7dfsg~beta3-1 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.17-1 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpam0g 1.1.0-4 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpaper1 1.1.23+nmu1 library for handling paper charact ii libpoppler40.10.6-1 PDF rendering library ii libslp11.2.1-7.6 OpenSLP libraries ii libstdc++6 4.4.1-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii lsb-base 3.2-23Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii perl-modules 5.10.0-25 Core Perl modules ii poppler-utils [xpdf-ut 0.10.6-1 PDF utilitites (based on libpopple ii procps 1:3.2.8-1.1 /proc file system utilities ii ssl-cert 1.0.23simple debconf wrapper for OpenSSL ii ttf-freefont 20090104-4Freefont Serif, Sans and Mono True ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-15 compression library - runtime Versions of packages cups recommends: ii avahi-utils 0.6.25-1 Avahi browsing, publishing and dis ii cups-driver-gutenprint5.2.4-1printer drivers for CUPS ii foomatic-filters 4.0-20090509-1 OpenPrinting printer support - fil ii ghostscript-cups 8.70~dfsg-2+b1 The GPL Ghostscript PostScript/PDF ii smbclient 2:3.3.4-1 command-line SMB/CIFS clients for Versions of packages cups suggests: ii cups-bsd 1.3.11-1+b1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii cups-pdf 2.5.0-8 PDF printer for CUPS ii foomatic-db20090616-1OpenPrinting printer support - dat ii foomatic-db-engine 4.0-20090509-1+b1 OpenPrinting printer support - pro ii hplip 3.9.4b-1 HP Linux Printing and Imaging Syst pn xpdf-korean | xpdf-jap none(no description available) -- debconf information: cupsys/raw-print: true cupsys/backend: ipp, lpd, parallel, scsi, serial, socket, usb, snmp, dnssd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. That message is input: HDA Intel HP out at Ext Front jack as /devices/pci:00/:00:1b.0/input/input9 So it does seem the problem is triggered by the udev start script. Bug#540059: Boot hangs during udev; udev segfaults several times
Package: udev Version: 0.141-1 Severity: important Following a large upgrade, my testing machine no longer boots correctly. It appears to hang, always at the same place, but will eventually continue. I have determined the following: - The hang occurs after messages relating to the sound card and before messages relating to the hard disk (the exact messages differ between kernels) - Ctrl-C during the hang will allow the boot to continue - It occurs with stock kernels 2.6.26-2-amd64, 2.6.28, 2.6.29, 2.6.30 - Rescue disks (testing of 04-Aug-2009 and 5.01) seem to boot correctly (the testing disk only works in graphical mode, but the problem with text mode doesn't appear to be the same, as the keyboard is hung also) - The udev version on the testing rescue disk appears to be the same as that installed - Reinstallation of the udev package doesn't help - Reinstallation of the kernel doesn't help (tested for 2.6.26-2-amd64) - Booting with UDEV_DISABLED=yes doesn't hang, but other things maybe don't work afterwards (e.g. konsole doesn't reach a prompt) (tested with 2.6.30) - bootchart seems to indicate that udev is holding things up and consuming near 100% CPU most of the time - dumping process information with sysrq during the hang lists udevd, vol_id, path_id, events/3 and sleep among runnable processes - on a single occasion, repeating error messages from mptbase were reported (I didn't note the exact message) - fsck reports no issues on the filesystem - Using Dell's bootable Drivers and Utilities disk to check the hardware reported no failures on any test, in particular there were no issues with the hard disk or sound card - After adding udev_log=debug in /etc/udev/udev.conf: --- *many* console messages fly past during the hang --- they include messages about sd_mod, bsg, block, so might indicate a disk issue --- if the boot is allowed to continue spontaneously, these messages do not appear in the system log, but several segfaults in udev are reported in the log --- if ctrl-c is issued during the hang, several hundred megabytes of udev messages are written to the log - googling for similar reports has not thrown up much (I have disabled the floppy in the bios and blacklisted the floppy module; booting with pci=nomsi does not resolve the problem either) I am open to suggestions for how to decide whether this is a bug or a hardware problem. I have most of the debugging output mentioned above available, but some of it is quite large, so I shall await instructions on what to send or how to analyse it. -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/udev/rules.d/: /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 128 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root19 2008-01-04 17:19 025_libgphoto2.rules - ../libgphoto2.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root22 2008-01-04 19:58 025_logitechmouse.rules - ../logitechmouse.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 495 2009-05-21 01:10 56-hpmud_support.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1137 2009-03-10 11:39 65_dmsetup.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 700 2008-01-04 17:11 70-persistent-cd.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 513 2009-08-05 11:28 70-persistent-net.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 283 2009-05-22 19:20 85_dmraid.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root15 2009-04-28 11:15 comedi.rules - ../comedi.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root15 2008-03-05 12:05 libnjb.rules - ../libnjb.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root15 2008-04-28 16:11 z60_hdparm.rules - ../hdparm.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5354 2009-03-17 11:09 z60_hplip.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13445 2009-06-30 10:31 z60_iscan.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1240 2009-04-06 20:06 z60_kpartx.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1914 2007-12-31 17:57 z60_libccid.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2656 2008-02-16 18:00 z60_libpisock9.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1152 2009-05-06 14:26 z60_libsane-extras.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 55330 2009-06-26 14:46 z60_libsane.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6658 2008-10-31 13:35 z60_xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules -- /sys/: /sys/dev /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0C0C:00/input/input4/event4/dev /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXPWRBN:00/input/input3/event3/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/bsg/sas_host6/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/bsg/end_device-6:0/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/block/sda/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/block/sda/sda1/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/block/sda/sda2/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/block/sda/sda5/dev /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.0/:01:00.3/:05:0b.0/host6/port-6:0/end_device-6:0/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/bsg/6:0:0:0/dev

Because hdparm is run during the hang, I tried the command.
