Bug#811254: Missing /usr/share/doc/python-cookiecutter-doc/html/index.html or depends python-cookiecutter-doc

2016-01-17 Thread Brendan Sleight
Package: cookiecutter
Version: 1.3.0-2
Severity: minor

man cookiecutter

SEE ALSO
For more documentation about cookiecutter, have a look at
/usr/share/doc/python-cookiecutter-doc/html/index.html.

Without python-cookiecutter-doc directory does not exist. Should point
to file:///usr/share/doc/python-cookiecutter/ Although this directory
is sparse, could so with an index.html

Unless a depends to python-cookiecutter-doc could be added.

Hope this helps.

Brendan

Bug#597237: live-manual: includes non-free files

Yep.

anyhow.. removed both the logo and the stylesheet in git and storing
 them statically on live.debian.net instead.

I must say I am quite puzzled.

If I understand correctly, the following commit claims to fix the bug I
 reported:
 http://live.debian.net/gitweb?p=live-manual.git;a=commitdiff;h=30f57268ba82463e46f9627a687c6c0603918677
However, it does not delete (or even touch) the two troublesome files
 (html/image.png and html/stylesheet.css)...
And it does not update the debian/copyright file, either.

 Could you please clarify?

If I read the git commit correctly.

The package for making the *online* manual now longer contains the
files. The makefile has been updated. Hence the offending files are
not pulled in to the package. The *online* manual now instead links
to the location of the files at live.debian.net.

Hope this clarifies and spares other the time and grey hair.

Regards,
Brendan

But the two files are still there, it seems:
 http://live.debian.net/gitweb?p=live-manual.git;a=tree;f=html;h=59f1d83bacbeeb560da1a05287c468bee9fae7de;hb=30f57268ba82463e46f9627a687c6c0603918677

All this makes me think that the Debian package live-manual will still
include the two non-free files, next time it is uploaded to unstable.
In other words, it seems to me that the bug has *not* been fixed!

Yes the files are still in the Git repository. Please re-read the
above and the git commit.

The *package* does not contain these files. The package (against which
you files the bug) no longer contains the files. The online manual
links to the files (in the git repository - but these are not in the
source of the package),

For example, I could in a package have a html file which points to
http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_com/images/srpr/logo1w.png the link
does not make the *package* non-free. As long as that package does not
contain the file(s), it is free.

Again I really hope this clarifies why the bug on the package is closed.

Brendan

Patches welcome.

Such hypothetical package would not include non-free files, that's
true, but that HTML file would not be readable in its intended form
 when off-line, for instance.
I would tend to consider such package as flawed...
Yes, a flaw for this package for an *online* manual is that it would
be missing an image when read offline.

The debian/copyright file still seems to need an update, though.
Now I am confused, please submit a patch to explain the deficiency in
the *package* as I can not find one.

Bug#545403: live-helper: packageslists directory created in config but unused

2009-09-07 Thread Brendan Sleight
HI Michal,

2009/9/6 Michal Suchanek michal.sucha...@ruk.cuni.cz:
The chroot_local-packageslists directory is created in the configuration
 but not used.

As far as I understand, it can be used manually. In between using
lh_config and lh_build I may add something to this directory. I agree
with the manual, in that ... constructing this directory by hand would
be time-consuming and error-prone, the lh_config helper can be used to
create skeleton configuration folders.

This is confusing for the users because at least some other directories
created in cthe configuration work automagically.
  - put a readme file there explaining the use of the directory
(with all lines prefixed with # so that it works as empty packageslist)

I would prefer this method.

Regards,
Brendan

Sorry for the delay.

I have removed package gnash and I not long get this crash.

I'm not sure this is the same bug. Could you install iceweasel-dbg and
run iceweasel --sync -g and get a backtrace?

Which x driver are you using?

I happy complete the above step if still required.

I now suspect the hardware to be at fault - insufficient power to run

My normal power supply connector is not operating and I have to power
the laptop via a docking station. The cheap generic (non-dell) power
supply is aging and now appears to be not supplying enough power to
power the laptop and the docking station. On boot-up I get a warning
regarding insufficent power and have the the load the BIOS using
battery power.

Apart from that very nice install. I still hae to run dhclient after boot-up.
