Reason for me reporting is that, with Debian, it will take a while before we get to use 3.4.4. Please will you consider patching 3.4.2. Kind Regards Brent Clark

Package: exim4 Version: 4.89-2+deb9u4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, This is just a FYI and I sure hope its nothing. In light of CVE-2019-10149 What I did was build a vagrant instance with Exim 4.89-2+deb9u3 to replicate the POC. Please see https://pastebin.com/raw/EiLbpsH4 for successful exploitation. What was of interest to me, I upgraded to 4.89-2+deb9u4 and redid the POC. Please see https://pastebin.com/raw/iqaJyHt2, but you will see is, the file POC does not work, BUT mail still gets accepted. Please see https://pastebin.com/raw/YLS7CBHY I just want to double check is this is correct / acceptable. Kind Regards Brent Clark P.s. I tried: sudo apt-get purge virtualbox-dkms ; sudo apt-get install virtualbox-dkms as well as, sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) to make sure I had the kernel headers ... I did. Bug#781023: initramfs-tools: Volume group not found before trying to mount root filesystem on LVM.
Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.119 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Good day. Just built a new wheezy server and upgraded to Jessie (LVM on Raid10). These are my steps: 1) Build new Wheezy server (LVM on Raid10). 2) Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and change Wheezy to Jessie 3) Run apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade 4) Run apt-get dist-upgrade 5) Run apt-get -f install and made sure all packages are installed. 5) Reboot 6) The server boots, and then eventually drops too spitting out Begin: Running /scripts/local-block done. Gave up waiting for /usr device. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I did a cat /proc/mdstat and saw raid was running. I then proceed to run: 1) lvm 2) vgscan 3) vgchange -ay 4) Pressed Control + D two or three times. * What was the outcome of this action? Booted in to new built Jessie OS. * What outcome did you expect instead? For the server to boot into the new built Jessie OS. I would like to state that I have built this server a few times. Bug#552665: RFP: Zumastor -- Zumastor is Free software that adds enterprise storage features (primarily improved snapshots and remote replication) to Linux.
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: Zumastor Version : 0.8 Upstream Author : Dan Kegel d...@kegel.com * URL : http://zumastor.org/ * License : (GPL) Programming Lang: (C, C++, C#, Perl, Python) Description : Zumastor is Free software that adds enterprise storage features (primarily improved snapshots and remote replication) to Linux. It has been difficult to convince users of commercial NAS applicances to switch to Linux. In particular, some commercial NAS boxes have had better support for snapshots and remote replication than Linux does. Zumastor is an effort to fix that. 2.1. Snapshots Snapshots can be useful as part of an hourly backup system. Instead of shutting down all applications for the entire duration of the backup, you can shut them down for just the second or two needed to take a snapshot. If your goal is to protect users from accidental deletion of files, you may want to take snapshots every hour, and leave the last few snapshots around; users who accidentally delete a file can just look in the snapshot. LVM already lets administrators create snapshots, but its design has the surprising property that every block you change on the original volume consumes one block for each snapshot. The resulting speed and space penalty usually makes the use of more than one or two snapshots at a time impractical. Zumastor keeps all snapshots for a particular volume in a common snapshot store, and shares blocks the way one would expect. Thus making a change to one block of a file in the original volume only uses one block in the snapshot store no matter how many snapshots you have. 2.2. Remote Replication Andrew Tridgell's rsync is a wonderful tool for replicating files remotely. However, when doing periodic replication of large numbers of infrequently changing files, the overhead for figuring out what files need to be sent can be extreme. Zumastor keeps track of which block change between one snapshot and the next, and can easily send just the changed blocks. Thus Zumastor can do frequent replication of large filesystems much more efficiently than rsync can. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#472347: perlmagick vs unrealistic dependency's
Barak A. Pearlmutter wrote: CURRENT SIMPLE WORKAROUND For now, you can work around the issue by installing some tiny browser that Provides: www-browser. Say, lynx. Then xdg-utils should be satisfied without installing iceweasel and friends. Hi Barak I thank you very much for your reply / response. I tried what you suggested (installing lynx), and im sorry to say, but that does not work. Im sorry to say this (dont want come across as obtuse), but I dont think you fully understand the implications of / for some of us not able to upgrade / install perlmagick and / or other packages. With your response of its not critical, I personally am of the opinion, that you literally are holding up some elements of debian testing and unstable. Take my other scenario. I wanted to test and install bugzilla3. I cant because the dependancys. I really hope that for the debian community this is resolved. Thanks to all for your responses and work. from my end, its very much appreciated. Kind Regards Brent Clark -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
