Bug#1065728: thunderbird: OTR not supported in Thunderbird with IRC chat

2024-03-09 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: thunderbird
Version: 1:115.7.0-1
Severity: normal

Steps to reproduce:

I connected to some IRC channel at irc.oftc.net and want to use OTR with some
users.
In the config editor, chat.otr.enable is set to true.
Command is shown in the chat window: ?OTRv2?

I use Thunderbird on Debian testing (Trixie), and libotr is installed:
libotr5/testing 4.1.1-5 amd64 [installed,automatic]

Actual results:

x...@irc.oftc.net has requested an Off-the-Record (OTR) encrypted conversation.
However, you do not have a plugin to support that.

Expected results:

OTR should have been used.

Bug#1065345: pipewire-jack: Improve package description

2024-03-03 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: pipewire-jack
Version: 1.0.3-1
Severity: normal

In my point of view it is not clearly understandable fromthe package
desciptions or package docs how pipewire-jack and libspa-0.2-jack relate. I
understood that pipewire-jack, aside from being a plugin, is a implementation
of a JACK server based on JACK API and pipewire. And, I understood
libspa-0.2-jack is a lib which is needed for pipewire to connect to a JACK
server. These are two different things imho.

But I learned that JACK client applications can not connect to pipewire-jack
when libspa-0.2-jack is not installed. Thus, libspa-0.2-jack is too needed when
JACK clients want to connect to pipewire-jack, basically making it a
dependency?

Maybe I am wrong, but more details in the package descriptions could clarify
things a bid more. Tried with https://wiki.debian.org/PipeWire, but that was
not clear either on how to deal with JACK native vs. JACK Pipewire setups.

Bug#1063319: easyeffects: Please lower calf-plugins dependency to Recommends

2024-02-25 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: easyeffects
Version: 7.1.4-1
Followup-For: Bug #1063319

As the OP already said, please just put calf-plugins to recommended, not as a
dependency. Maybe it is not important in context of easyeffects, but I have
issues with the calf-plugins inside Ardour, suddenly the UI can not be opened
anymore. So I want to gte rid of the plugins, but the dependencies of
easyeffects does not allow it.

Additionally, Calf plugins are not considered well suited for pro audio usage,
LSP plugins are recommended instead. Please see following posting:
https://discourse.ardour.org/t/calf-reverb-installed-and-seen-by-ardour-but-an-
old-session-yelps-that-its-missing-and-loads-a-stub-instead/108881/6

Thanks a lot!

Bug#1061463: ardour: Ardour crashing when exporting to audio files when using JACK server via Pipewire

2024-01-24 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: ardour
Version: 1:8.2.0+ds-1
Severity: normal

When I use JACK as the audio system, which is handled by Pipewire using the
pipewire-jack layer, Ardour crashes almost every time when I export a audio
track or master track to e.g. a WAV or FLAC file. When the audio system is
switched to ALSA, the crashes do not happen. As Paul Davis recommended on the
ardour.org forum, I tried a Linux build from ardour.org (8.2) and that binary
runs very stable during audio exports.
The assumption was that it might be that Pipewire is the source of the
troubles, but ardour.orgs binary did not lead to reproducible crashes with the
audio system JACK with Pipewire, even when switching connections from/to Ardour
using qpwgraph during exports. Even other sources played music through easy
effects to the headset without impacting the export (besides Ardour muted the
headset during export).

Stuff seen on the console after the crashes:

Segfault

and

munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer
Aborted

Bug#1060795: bluez: Troubles with bluetooth after upgrade from bookworm to testing (trixie): br-connection-unknown

2024-01-14 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: bluez
Version: 5.71-1
Severity: important

Since the upgrade to testing, the following happens when connecting to a bt
headset:

* Not paired, not trusted: can pair and trust and use the device.
* When disconnecting, rebooting the machine, connection to bt device fails with
'br-connection-unknown'
* After removing the bt device again and re-pair, it is possible to connect to
it again.

Further info: I am using pipewire instead of pulseaudio.

Following a transscript of a session with the error and how to fix it:

Bug#806159: [banshee] last.fm: Failed to get information from your Last.fm profile

2015-11-24 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: banshee
Version: 2.6.2-3
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

i activated the Last.fm scrobbling extension and logged in via the Last.fm
extensions settings dialog.
There it tells me: I am logged in at Last.fm with the user xyz.
>From there i can log out and open my profile page, both works.
I can re-login and i am redirected to the last.fm website, login there and the
Last.fm extension tells me again that i am logged in.

But when i open the Last.fm entry in "Online media" i get the message:

"Failed to get information from your Last.fm profile"

with the buttons "Account settings" and "Join Last.fm".

2010-01-03 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: listen
Version: 0.6.3-4

after playing for some seconds the player hangs and does not react on
any input. After he finished playing the actual track then no other
track is played from the playlist.

it seems that the player is very useless at the moment and i could not
figure out what the problem causes. I disabled all plugins but the
problem remained.

Bug#563493: listen: submission to last.fm does not work

2010-01-03 Thread Chris Joelly
Hi Julien,

please see my message for bug #552532

i attached lots of error messages there so i think the last.fm troubles
might be found there.

thanks,

Chris

btw: it is a very strange time, as some of the major audio players like
Amarok2 and Exaile seems to be very buggy now :) So i hoped that the
just discovered listen has fewer problems, but the last.fm integration
and dynamic playlist handling seems to be _the_ challenge for listen too :)

Bug#561519: exaile: Sort order of playlist somehow strange when queuing tracks...

2009-12-17 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: exaile
Version: 0.2.14+debian-2.2
Severity: normal

Hello,

i queued some tracks in the playlist and they played in the order they
was queued. During playing this queued tracks i queued another album.
Queuing looked ok. Then i changed the album name of all newly queued tracks
with
the edit tags... feature.

After the first album finished playing and the other one started, the
playlist still had the tracks with the corrected album name in, but it
seemed to play the old tracks with the old album name. Strange is that
this old tracks were not visible in the playlist, Exaile added it
dynamically to the playlist as it started playing a track.

strange... very strange... :)

bye, Chris

Bug#560223: amarok: Enqueue tracks from local music and files not possible, only add to playlist

2009-12-09 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: amarok
Version: 2.2.1-2
Severity: normal

Hello,

enqueuing tracks via the context menu fom local music and files is not
possible. They have to be added to the playlist first and from the
context menu there they can be enqueued. Amarok 1.4 supported that
convenience feature and it would be nice if Amarok 2 get it in too.

Bug#560224: amarok: id3 tags not read from mp3 files

2009-12-09 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: amarok
Version: 2.2.1-2
Severity: normal

Hello,

Amarok has serios troubles with id2 tags of mp3 files. It also happens
that Amarok does not read the tags, instead it displays the file name in
the title field. And it also happens that Amarok seem to write the meta
information into the files, but infact does nothing. All files are read
and writable by the user Amarok runs, and it does not occur always. But
very often.

Bug#560225: amarok: Navigating in Amarok2 - not that nice as in Amarok 1.4

2009-12-09 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: amarok
Version: 2.2.1-2

Hello,

in Amarok 1.4 is was possible to get information on similar artists,
fetched from last.fm and a list of other artists / tracks with have a
very high score. Furthermore it was possible to click on those artists
and navigate this way through the collection finding interesting stuff
of the own collection which was already 'lost'. Amarok 1.4 has a
phrase: rediscover your music... Unfortunately i miss this feature
in Amarok 2...
It would be very nice to get this feature back in again ...

Bug#560226: amarok: Please re-add Amarok 1.4 additionally to Amarok 2 to Squeeze

2009-12-09 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: amarok
Version: 2.2.1-2
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

as Amarok seem to have serious bugs and usability problems compared to
Amarok 1.4, is it possible to re-add Amarok 1.4 so that the user is able
to decide which one of the main releases he want to use? After using
Amarok 2.2.1 for almost two weeks now i would be very happy if i could
use Amarok 1.4 again together with Squeeze. Amarok 2 looks promising and
some bugs are ok, but as Squeeze is heading to code freeze i think that
some of the missing features Amarok 1.4 already has in are probably not
realistic for stable Squeeze...

Bug#463865: mutt: smime_keys unable to import p12 files

2008-02-03 Thread Chris Joelly
Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.17+20080114-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

trying to import my new p12 package and smime_keys reports the following
after asking for the key passphrase and the PEM passphrase:

Problem copying /tmp/smime/tmp_issuer_cert to ~/.smime/certificates/8e6538d2.0:
File or directory not found

when trying to list the keys and certificates already imported an in use
in my .smime structure, smime_keys reports the following problem:

Couldn't open ~/.smime/certificates/.index: file or directory not found
at /usr/bin/smime_keys line 287.

but the .index file is at the mentioned location and readable by the
user executing smime_keys. cat ~/.smime/certificates/.index dumps the
contents of the file correctly. the file and the whole .smime directory
structure is writable by the user to.

thx
