Bug#263883: fluxbox: linear window cycling
Hey Simon, That's fantastic, thanks. I read the docs several times and couldn't grok this from them - maybe that specific point could be written somewhere? Best, Chris. On Tue, Jun 28, 2005 at 01:18:01AM +1000, Simon Bowden wrote: Hi Chris, Just looking at your report for this bug. The old window cycling behaviour still exists, it's just not the default anymore. Try changing your keybind actions to these, and see if it acts like you want: :NextWindow 8 :PrevWindow 8 The 8 is a bitmask , where the 4th bit represents linear, rather than most-recently-used (Windows-style) window cycling. Bug#263883: fluxbox: You told me to file this at Linux.conf.au :)
Package: fluxbox Version: 0.9.12-1 Followup-For: Bug #263883 Hey Matt, At some point fluxbox stopped supporting the old style tabbed behaviour. It now only supports 'windows' style tab behaviour. I consider it a bug that there is no configuration option available that I can set (for example 'Mod1 Tab :NextWindow -1') which will allow me to return to the old behaviour where tab just cycled plainly through the list of windows, no hopping backwards or forwards, and alt-tab can be configured similarly to cycle backwards. Thanks for your help! Bug#263883: fluxbox: alt-tab is cycling out of order and skipping windows
Ok, I think i've figured out when this is happening. Perhaps it isn't a bug but it's not how the program used to behave before this release. Here's a test [I have alt-tab bound to 'NextWindow 0' for this test]. create window 1 create window 2 create window 3 create window 4 alt-tab cycling between these works perfectly cycling in the order of their creation. now if i cycle 4-3 and then click on window 3 the tab order changing becomes unpredictable (no longer goes 4-3-2-1) and seems to change around for a couple of cycles before settling on some new order. Is this how it's meant to behave? Perhaps I should ask the fluxbox maintainers? Thanks for your time. Regards, Chris. Since the most recent upgrade, when multiple windows are open, pressing alt-tab cycles through the windows in the wrong order (cycle changes over time too), and often will not let you alt-tab to a particular window. The newer version of fluxbox has a request feature - most recent window for the {Next,Prev}Window keybinding. For other {Next,Prev}Window changes, have a look at the documentation covered here: http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docbook/en/html/x346.html#KEYS-NOTE-1 If this does not solve your problem, could you please outline some steps to reproduce this problem? -- dopey!debian.org http://www.debian.org/ --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mccormick.cx -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
