Bug#1042976: needrestart false positive: Warning about not being able to check for processor microcode upgrades on arm64 platform

2023-08-03 Thread Christian Britz
Package: needrestart
Version: 3.6-4
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream
X-Debbugs-Cc: cbr...@t-online.de

Dear Maintainer,

when I run needrestart on my Raspberry Pi (Debian Bookworm) it prints out the
following:

root@raspberrypi:~# LANG=C needrestart
Scanning processes...
Scanning processor microcode...
[...]
Failed to check for processor microcode upgrades.
[...]

There is no package equivalent to amd64-microcode or intel-microcode for the
arm64 architecture, so this check should probably be removed.

Dear Maintainer,

I booted the latest unofficial weekly build of Debian installer including non-
free firmware, because I needed to use the rescue mode.
Unfortunately the non-free firmware for Realtek rtw_8822ce WIFI was not
detected, so I had to use USB tethering.
Once Debian is installed, the WiFi works without problems.

Bug#977882: gnome-core: Gnome does not switch off the display when (power saving -> blank screen) is enabled

2020-12-22 Thread Christian Britz
Package: gnome-core
Version: 1:3.38+2
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cbr...@t-online.de

Dear Maintainer,

I enabled "blank screen" in the power saving options after 12 minutes.

The display only goes dark and locked and the mouse pointer is still visible
after the 12 minutes, but never switches off the display, what I would have
expected.
Running "xset dpms force off" manually works as expected.
The lock screen stays permanently visble when a notification has been
displayed.

Maybe it is worth noting that I run gnome and gdm with X.org, not wayland.

Regards,
Christian

Bug#972968: linux-image-5.9.0-1-amd64: Bluetooth stopped working

2020-10-26 Thread Christian Britz
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.9.1-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream
X-Debbugs-Cc: cbr...@t-online.de

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading my Debian testing installation to kernel 5.9.1, my bluetooth
mouse does not work anymore. According to IRC #debian-next this seems to be a
known upstream problem, also affecting other distributions.
I will send the output of systemctl status bluetooth.

Bug#970522: systemd.automount fails to mount a CIFS share

How do you establish your network connection?

It appears you are triggering a mount request, before your network
connection is established / the name resolver reachable.

Seems to be correct. It seems, that my wifi connection is only
established, when my desktop environment (xfce4) loads. I had a shortcut
on the desktop to the mount point, and it seems that this triggered
automount. After removing it and rebooting, a sample "ls /Mountpoint"
triggers the automount again correctly.

You can close the ticket. Thank you for your support!

Bug#968929: linux-image-5.7.0-2-amd64: Realtek 8822CE [10ec:c82f] wifi does not work

2020-08-24 Thread Christian Britz
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.7.10-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cbr...@t-online.de

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Trying to install Debian Testing using the built-in wifi Realtek 8822CE
[10ec:82f] on my Lenovo Ideapad S145 did not work, although it
should be supported: https://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/RTW88_8822CE.html.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Used a non-free firmware cd image
   * What was the outcome of this action?
WiFi not detected
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
WiFi detected and usable

It seems that there is a fix for Ubuntu:
