Bug#1068408:

2024-04-07 Thread David Pye
Seconded - the current package situation makes Kicad in Trixie unusable at
the moment.

dmp@thor:~$ dpkg -l | grep kicad
ii kicad 7.0.11+dfsg-1
amd64Electronic schematic and PCB design software
ii kicad-demos7.0.11+dfsg-1
  all Demo projects for kicad
ii kicad-footprints 8.0.1-1
all Footprint symbols for KiCad's Pcbnew
ii kicad-libraries7.0.11+dfsg-1
all Virtual package providing common used libraries by
kicad
ii kicad-packages3d 8.0.1-1
all 3D models for 3D viewer in KiCad's Pcbnew and
Footprint Editor
ii kicad-symbols 8.0.1-1
all Schematic symbols for KiCad's Eeschema
ii kicad-templates8.0.1-1
  all Project templates for KiCad

The footprints/templates/symbols that are part of 8.0.1-1 are not
compatible with the main kicad 7.0.11+dfsg-1.

This means the system is unusable until the main kicad package in sid
arrives in trixie.

The other option would be to update the kicad package to specify the
depends for the kicad package on its' libraries/symbols etc as >=7 <8 to
avoid the current situation.

Hopefully kicad 8 will be arriving from sid shortly.!

Hi there,

Could you confirm what gcc -v tells you?

Cheers,
