Bug#1060734: Add more dev dependencies

2024-01-13 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Package: libsail0
Version: 0.9.0+repack-2

Hi! There are missing dependencies for -dev packages that are not currently
installed and need manual installation:

libsail-dev should depend on libsail-common-dev
libsail-c++-dev should depend on libsail-dev and libsail-manip-dev

Bug#1059743: Libsail should depend on sail-codecs

2023-12-31 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Package: libsail0
Version: 0.9.0+repack-1

Libsail is a high-level API for SAIL codecs. Since sail-codecs is not a
dependency and most likely is not installed, libsail is unusable in this
configuration.

The fix is to make libsail dependent on sail-codecs of the same version
(e.g. =version).

Bug#1053729: RFP: SAIL image decoding library

2023-10-17 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Hi!

> Does it produce desired Debian packages?

I've just pushed a couple of fixes to the Debian rules. I'm able to build
packages on LUbuntu 23.04. Maybe a couple of small fixes are still needed
to build packages on Debian. So the recommended git sha to use is
4705cb4cf96. It's a release candidate and ready to use in client
applications.

> Are these packages lintian-clean?

The only error Lintian showed is "unknown distribution", but this is
because I run it on Ubunutu.

> Do you know any software already in Debian which would benefit from
having SAIL in Debian?

It's a library and I guess end users will benefit from it.

No, I didn't. The problem is still exist, and exist only in reportbug. The
font breaks this application. If I create a PNG file which breaks libpng, it
is usually marked a critical bug. But if font breaks font renderer it's ok
you think? This can be an application problem, or font renderer. I can give
any information you need to fix it. if this is pythin-gtk2 problem (or
whatever), please reassign and we will investigate it with other people.

Bug#599476: investigation

2011-02-25 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Since no one tried to troubleshoot this, I did it by myself. I cleared
environment from all variables and started to add them back one by one. Then
I found that

*
GTK2_RC_FILES=/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:/home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0:/home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0-kde:/home/krasu/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0
*

is causing the problem. I removed all working components from this variable,
and found that *~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde* OR *~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde* are causing the
problem. Config files themselves:

*

$ cat /home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0
# -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT
include /usr/share/themes/Clearlooks/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

style user-font {
font_name = Tahoma 8
}

widget_class * style user-font

gtk-font-name=Tahoma 8

include /home/krasu/.gtkrc.mine

# -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT

$ cat /home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0-kde
# This file was written by KDE
# You can edit it in the KDE control center, under GTK Styles and Fonts

include /usr/share/themes/Qt4/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

style user-font
{
font_name=Tahoma
}

gtk-theme-name=Qt4
gtk-font-name=Tahoma 8

*

The bug is reproduced when *GTK2_RC_FILES=/home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0* or when *
GTK2_RC_FILES=/home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0-kde*. Then I set *export
GTK2_RC_FILES=/home/krasu/.gtkrc-2.0* and tried to debug a little bit this
config file. Finally I found that *gtk-font-name=Tahoma 8* is causing the
problem. This file was written by gtk-chtheme. I don't know HOW can font
size break reportbug's GTK frontend, but it breaks. All other GTK apps
(native apps w/o python bindings) work fine. So, as I already said, this is
a bug in reportbug or python-gtk2.

Bug#614713: [Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#614713: cups-pdf: installation asks for a password

2011-02-23 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Probably it because debootstrapped environment has a different hostname set

 No, I'll just reassign the bug to cups-client.

 However, I'm really puzzled as to why 'lpadmin' does this. That it
 would ask non-root users for a password is expected, but 'dpkg' is run

 I guess the reportbug template fails to mention xulrunner recommends :(

 The sad thing is that due to bug
 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397700, it can only display
 one possible handler. You may want to look why gnome wants you to use
 GIMP. Alternatively, you can try to remove libgnomevfs and see what
 happens then (though there being two entries in mailcap might not help,
 but you could set your own in ~/.mailcap)

Bug#599476: [Reportbug-maint] Bug#599476: reportbug shows expanding black screen

  When I select linux-image-* as a package, reportbug will show constatly

 Are you still able to replicate this problem? I'm not. Also, did that
 only happen with linux-image-* packages or also with other ones?

Bug#586605: firmware-b43-installer: do not fail on kernel version mismatch

2011-01-28 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Hi, Fabrizio.

I believe comparing root inodes is a better way, because /debootstrap/ may
not exist.

2011/1/28 Fabrizio Regalli fab...@fabreg.it

 Hi Dmitry,

  Nope, one again: installation of firmware-b43-installer will fail in a
  debootstrapped environment (NOT a host system). For example, host
  system has 2.6.18, debootstrapped system doesn't have kernel at all.
  At this time I cannot install firmware-b43-installer in debootstrapped
  system. Postinst script should determine the debootstrapped system
  (based on comparing root inodes like it's done in udev's postinst) and
  bypass kernel check in such system, and (probably) show a warning that
  it fail to work on 2.6.25, so it will be my headache to provide a
  suitable kernel for my debootstrapped system.

 Ok, basically you want to install the package during the installation
 process or something like that.
 The simplest check could be look for /debootstrap/ directory and if it
 exists return a message something like you are in debootstrap. mininum
 kernel required is 2.6.25 do you want continue? Y/N
 If Y, skip the kernel check and install it.

 Another way, little bit more complex, is to compare the root inodes like
 udev.

 It's clear now. I'm working for fix this issue.

 Ciao.
 Fabrizio.

Bug#586605: firmware-b43-installer: do not fail on kernel version mismatch

2011-01-27 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
2011/1/27 Fabrizio Regalli fab...@fabreg.it

 Hi,

  firmware-b43-installer currently fails in postinst script on kernel
 versions
  2.6.25. This makes impossible to install firmware-b43-installer in the
  deboostrapped environment, since it may not have a kernel at all, but the
 host
  system has 2.6.18 or similar. postinst script should ask if it's ok to
 install
  firmware-b43-installer anyway (like udev does).

 from NEWS file:

 ...
 b43-fwcutter (1:011-5) unstable; urgency=high

  * This version of the package installs the firmware suitable for
 kernels = 2.6.25. It will do so unconditionally on upgrades and this
 break usage with 2.6.24. If you for some reason still want to use
 2.6.24, please backup your old /lib/firmware/b43.

 A kernel greater than (or equal) 2.6.25 is required otherwise the
 firmware will not work.

 My suggest is to close this bug.

Nope, one again: installation of firmware-b43-installer will fail in a
debootstrapped environment (NOT a host system). For example, host system has
2.6.18, debootstrapped system doesn't have kernel at all. At this time I

 OK, that's really wierd. Would you be willing to send me compressed
 raw e2image of your filesystem so I can figure out what's going on?
 See the man page for e2image(8), and the section RAW IMAGE FILES.
 For what's likely to be going on, the directory names won't matter, so
 if you are concerned about the file names in your directories (not I
 care or would go prying to see them anyway), feel free to use the -s
 option to scramble the file names if that would make you more
 comfortable.

 Since the file will be fairly big, if you can send me private e-mail
 with the URL to download them, that would be great. If you don't have
 access to facilities to allow you to do that, let me know and I can
 set up some kind of anonymous FTP upload facility.

 Thanks,

- Ted

Bug#596656: boinc-client: cannot find GPU

2010-09-13 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Hello.

No, this is wrong. When people install BOINC, they think that it will use
GPU, and they will use CPU for their own tasks. But this is wrong, because
boinc doesn't use GPU at all. README will not solve the problem, because the
package is broken by default, this is not something extraordinary but a
common case, which will be reproduced everywhere in nVidia environment. I
think we should add a dependency on X login manager (kdm | gdm | xdm | etc)
and change startup level with update-rc.d to let boinc start after that
login manager. Otherwise, as I already said, the package is broken, and this
is not the thing people expect to see.

Bug#596656: boinc-client: cannot find GPU

2010-09-13 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Hello.

The other solution (and I think better solution) is to divide boinc-client
into 3 parts:

1) kernel part
2) bonc-client-x
3) boinc-client-cli

[2] and [3] will depend on [1]

[2] will require X login manager
[3] will work in CLI

And this should be documented in package descriptions, that If you want to
use GPU, please install bonc-client-x. Otherwise install bonc-client-cli.

I added irqpoll option to the kernel command line. IRQ problem seems to be
gone, but know controller doesn't work. I can see it in ifconfig, but it's
MAC address is 00:00:00:00:00:0f (should be 00-21-11-00-00-0f). My
router assignes DHCP addresses according to client's MAC, and after
upgrading to 2.6.32 I cannot get DHCP address. I can add rules for
00:00:00:00:00:0f on my router, but nevertheless, ethernet controller
cannot get DHCP address again. It seems to be a r8169 bug in 2.6.32. I've
backported some changes from 2.6.34, and now my controller works fine.
Backports are in attached patch. It will be great to backport all bugfixes
from .34 (AFAIU, it must be done in upstream, since .32 is an LTS).

Thanks!

That's ok.

Then go to another instance of mc and completely remove dir directory with
F8. Then from the same instance of mc create dir again, and create some
text file, for example 1.txt. Then go back go first ms and its subshell:

$ ls -l

Bug#575711: pasting extra tabs, AGAIN

2010-03-28 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Package: mc
Version: 3:4.7.0.1-1

If I try to paste with Shift+Ins some text with newlines, mc will add some
extra tabs on each line. For example, if I try to paste

 -r | --replace | -replace )
replace=--replace
;;

mc will paste

 -r | --replace | -replace )
  replace=--replace
  ;;

The N-th line of text will have N extra tabs.

Etch version also had this bug. Lenny version DIDN'T have this bug. Squeeze
version is affected again. mc is running in konsole within KDE 4.3 also from
Squeeze.

Bug#575711:

2010-03-28 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Nope, technically this IS a bug. Pasting text must NOT depend on such
options like Return does autoindent, because it is not a direct editing. I
don't like this option for some reasons and I won't turn it on. The pasted
text must match 1:1 the original text regardless any options (including
autoidentation and tab replacing). All editors paste text normally - vi,
nano, gvim, emacs and so on. Mcedit is the only app having such problems,
and it is completely weird for those who use mc all the time (like me).

Bug#562546: mozplugger doesn't embed evince (regression)

2009-12-25 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Package: mozplugger
Version: 1.13.0-1

My main system is Lenny. I've installed Iceweasel 3.5.5 and
mozplugger, both from testing. I'd like mozplugger to always use
Evince for PDF documents. I edited mozpluggerrc as follows:

Before:

application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
ACROREAD()
repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf $file
repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 $file
repeat noisy swallow(okular) fill: okular $file
GV()
repeat noisy fill exits: evince $file

After:

application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
repeat noisy fill exits: evince $file

Then I opened PDF document directly from internet, for example
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf;. Iceweasel opened it in a
separate window, it didn't embed Evince window. Then I removed
mozplugger-1.12 and installed one from Lenny (1.10.2). Restarted
browser. Then I opened that link again - it has been opened as
expected, e.g. Evince has been embedded into Icewesel window. This
looks like a regression in 1.13.

I have OpenOffice installed from lenny-backports (1:3.1.1-1~bpo50+1),
mozplugger from Lenny and Iceweasel 3.5.5 from testing. If I try to
open any document from the internet in Iceweasel 3.5.5, it will open a
blank document. It happens because OO cannot determine the type of
document, because Mozilla saves it as
~/.mozilla/firefox/default/Cache/C5EF2DCCd01, without the .doc
extension. If I rename that document, OO will open it. For example:

this works:
$ cp ~/.mozilla/firefox/default/Cache/C5EF2DCCd01 /tmp/cache.doc
$ oowriter /tmp/cache.doc

this is not:
$ cp ~/.mozilla/firefox/default/Cache/C5EF2DCCd01 /tmp/cache
$ oowriter /tmp/cache

 Please run 'LC_ALL=C debuild' as I can't interpret the hyroglyphes

 to run it ina clean chroot. i.e. pbuilder can do that for you. For

The most weird thing is that if I run dpkg-buildpackage again, it will
not fail. It will fail ONLY on clean source directory, e.g. to
reproduce this bug you should unpack source code somewhere, apply
Debian patch and run dpkg-buildpackage. My CPU is Athlon X2, Debian
Lenny is 32-bit, if it is important.

 Yes, this is expected. In case you plug the printer again later, you
 don’t want to lose its configuration.

 It's true. But the printer state should be then 5 (stopped), because
 hal-cups-utils tryes to disable printer when it is removed. Probably
 hal_lpadmin didn't recieve signal when the printer was removed.

 As you can see, HP has printer-state=3 which means that the
 printer is online.

 This, OTOH is not.

 I’ll think about uploading a new hal-cups-utils version one day or
 another, so please try again when this happens.

 Cheers,

Bug#545869: the printer havn't been removed

2009-09-09 Thread Dmitry Baryshev
Package: hal-cups-utils
Version: 0.6.16-3
Severity: important

Hello. In Debian Lenny after I have removed the USB printer, I still
can see it in a list of configured printers. I wrote a small program
which gets all printers configured in CUPS with its properties (with
libcups, cupsGetDests()). It shows

Found printer CUPS-PDF, (null)
Option media=A4
Option finishings=3
Option copies=1
Option job-hold-until=no-hold
Option job-priority=50
Option number-up=1
Option auth-info-required=none
Option job-sheets=none,none
Option printer-info=Virtual PDF Printer
Option printer-is-accepting-jobs=1
Option printer-is-shared=1
Option printer-location=Local Printer
Option printer-make-and-model=Generic CUPS-PDF Printer
Option printer-state=3
Option printer-state-change-time=1251885588
Option printer-state-reasons=none
Option printer-type=61516
Found printer Officejet_J3600_series, (null)
Option media=A4
Option finishings=3
Option copies=1
Option job-hold-until=no-hold
Option job-priority=50
Option number-up=1
Option auth-info-required=none
Option job-sheets=none,none
Option printer-info=HP Officejet J3600 series
Option printer-is-accepting-jobs=1
Option printer-is-shared=1
Option printer-location=
Option printer-make-and-model=HP Officejet j3600 series
Foomatic/hpijs, hpijs 2.8.6b
Option printer-state=3
Option printer-state-change-time=1252515470
Option printer-state-reasons=none
Option printer-type=4108
Found printer Officejet_J3600_series_fax, (null)
Option media=A4
Option finishings=3
Option copies=1
Option job-hold-until=no-hold
Option job-priority=50
Option number-up=1
Option auth-info-required=none
Option job-sheets=none,none
Option printer-info=Fax queue for HP Officejet J3600 series
Option printer-is-accepting-jobs=1
Option printer-is-shared=1
Option printer-location=
Option printer-make-and-model=HP Fax
Option printer-state=3
Option printer-state-change-time=1252515470
Option printer-state-reasons=none
Option printer-type=4108

As you can see, HP has printer-state=3 which means that the
printer is online. lshal doesn't show this printer which means that
HAL has correctly removed this printer, but hal-cups-utils didn't:

$ lshal | grep printer.
  info.product = 'Standard LPT printer port' (string)
  pnp.description = 'Standard LPT printer port' (string)
$
$ lshal | grep HP
$
