Bug#714225: djview4: Fit page option can lead to infinite cycling of menu bars
Package: djview4 Version: 4.9-3 Severity: minor In some situations, zooming to fit page can cause an infinite cycling with menu bars appearing and disappearing. Bug#687677: okular: Trim margins doesn't always
Package: okular Version: 4:4.8.4-2 Severity: normal The trim margins option does not always work: sometimes pages appear with no trimming at all. This seems to particularly often happen when using the 'Facing page' option (without 'Continuous'). The second of the two pages displayed at a time does not get trimmed. If pages n and n+1 are displayed at a time, this will be page n+1 if you paged forward (from pages n-2,n-1), and page n if you paged backwards (from pages n+2,n+3). Bug#667729: network-manager-gnome: Similar bugs in Fedora and Ubuntu
Package: network-manager-gnome Version: 0.9.4.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #667729 I also encountered this bug. There are similar bugs in Ubuntu, Fedora, and Gentoo: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/973241 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=815331 http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7003656.html?sid=3dfae5840b7569cbe78f105c86b2a3e8 Note that all of this is specific to the ipw2200 driver. If the OP does not have that wireless set, then it is likely a different bug. The underlying issue (as I understand it) is a kernel bug: when using the newer nl80211 interface, it incorrectly reports that the card does not support any encryption. There is a kernel patch fixing that issue here: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg88069.html However, you may want to consider putting a workaround in nm-applet as well. There is an Ubuntu PPA that does that here: https://launchpad.net/~jools/+archive/ipw2200 Note that there are several other related issues; eg, the connection strength doesn't show up in nm-applet. I don't know if that kernel bug has been fixed yet. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (50, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.17 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages network-manager-gnome depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.5.12-1 ii dpkg 1.16.3 ii gconf-service3.2.5-1 ii gconf2 3.2.5-1 ii gnome-icon-theme 3.4.0-2 ii libatk1.0-0 2.4.0-2 ii libc62.13-32 ii libcairo-gobject21.12.2-1 ii libcairo21.12.2-1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.5.12-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.98-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.9.0-5 ii libfreetype6 2.4.9-1 ii libgconf-2-4 3.2.5-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.1-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.3-1 ii libgnome-bluetooth8 3.2.2-1 ii libgnome-keyring03.4.1-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.4.2-1 ii libnm-glib-vpn1 0.9.4.0-4 ii libnm-glib4 0.9.4.0-4 ii libnm-gtk0 0.9.4.1-1 ii libnm-util2 0.9.4.0-4 ii libnotify4 0.7.5-1 ii libpango1.0-01.30.0-1 ii network-manager 0.9.4.0-4 ii policykit-1-gnome0.105-2 Versions of packages network-manager-gnome recommends: ii gnome-bluetooth3.2.2-1 ii iso-codes 3.35-1 ii libpam-gnome-keyring [libpam-keyring] 3.2.2-2 ii mobile-broadband-provider-info 20120402-1 ii xfce4-notifyd [notification-daemon]0.2.2-1 Versions of packages network-manager-gnome suggests: pn network-manager-openvpn-gnome none pn network-manager-pptp-gnome none pn network-manager-vpnc-gnome none -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#649041: network-manager-gnome: cannot turn on wifi after it has been turned off
Package: network-manager-gnome Version: 0.9.4.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #649041 I can also reproduce this. I think the hardware is relevant; I have an HP/Compaq nc6220, with an ipw2200 card, and am using nm-applet in an xfce environment. A log illustrating the issues is below. This was quite annoying to fix: the radio being disable persisted through kernel upgrades and hard reboots. Disabling the wireless by the menu attached to nm-applet gave similar results, except that sometimes the Enable wireless checkbox is completely missing. This might possibly be related to the kernel issues mentioned in my comment in bug #667729. Bug#594944: auctex: preview no longer works with 'geometry' package
A further update on this bug (which is still annoying): it only seems to happen when running through the dvips route, not when using pdflatex (by checking the appropriate option under the 'Command' menu or running 'TeX-PDF-mode'). Package: texlive-base Version: 2009-11 Severity: normal texdoc and texdoctk both seem to fail to open gzip'ed PDF files. Perhaps texdoc tries to gunzip the file and deletes it before okular reads it? (Okular can read a .pdf.gz file, but I don't expect texdoc to know that.) Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this bug: your sample document works fine here, with or without geometry. I tried it on another computer (in a mostly-blank account) and got different, but also broken, behaviour: the image was contained in a document that seemed to be close to the size of a page. Bug#594944: auctex: preview no longer works with 'geometry' package
On Wed, Sep 01, 2010 at 09:14:03PM +0200, Davide G. M. Salvetti wrote: DT == Dylan Thurston [2010-9-1] DT I'll investigate more what the difference is as I have a chance, but DT I hope the new logs will help. Thanks for this update. Wild guess: it could be useful to create a (temporary) brand new account to test again, just in case something in ~/ gets in the way, modifying ghostscript behavior in some way. I just tried this, with no change: I still get an empty preview image (on the machine with that behaviour before). --Dylan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#508634: okular: Does not exit full screen mode
On Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 02:27:46AM +0200, Eckhart Wörner wrote: tags 508634 + moreinfo thanks Hi, you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508634 some time ago. Since then, KDE Software Compilation had several releases. Can you please verify whether the bug you reported is still present in a more current version (and - if yes - specify which version)? It's still present in the version currently in Debian unstable, Debian version 4:4.4.5-1. The form may have changed slightly. The way I would currently describe it is that if you quit okular while it is in full screen mode, the next time you start it it will enter full screen mode (which is reasonable), and then when you exit full screen mode okular keeps all the same settings, namely, window size just larger than the screen resolution and no menu bar. It thus appears to still be in full screen mode, but if you understand that this is what's going on, it's easy to work around. I would rate it as a 'minor' bug at the moment. No it didn't, you have purged an old tetex (which was only removed but not purged) and that removed that file, old bug, cannot be fixed now since it is in removed-but-not-purged state. See /usr/share/doc/texlive-common/NEWS.Debian.gz Please do aptitude reinstall texlive-base should fix that. Thanks! Indeed that was my problem, and my apologies for missing the documentation. (I had read that NEWS entry back in 2007...) My system had been mildly broken for a month or so, and this fixed it. For the benefit of anyone googling this, I also had to reinstall texlive-latex-base in order to fix the brokenness on my system. Specifically, I had been getting errors like ! Bug#557103: uw-imapd occasionally corrupts /var/spool/mail/[user] and ~/mbox
Package: uw-imapd Version: 7:2007b~dfsg-4+lenny3 Severity: important On rare occasions, uw-imapd is corrupting users mailboxes. The problem has been observed with the /var/spool/mail/[username] file as well as ~/mbox. The problem has been observed with users who are using Apple's mail.app on OS X 10.5, and with users of Outlook Express on Windows XP. I have not seen the problem occur with SquirrelMail, but it's entirely possible that this is because SquirrelMail is used rarely. Instances of mailbox corruption are irregular and occur on average about once a month, although it did happen to a Mail.app user twice in two days. The result is from around 30 to 200 (approximate) bytes of garbage overwriting that amount of the first message of the mailbox, from the first byte of the file. The file must be manually repaired before the user can get to their mailbox by constructing valid headers in place of the corrupted data. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages uw-imapd depends on: ii debconf [debcon 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii libc-client2007 7:2007b~dfsg-4+lenny3c-client library for mail protocol ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.41.3-1 common error description library ii libkrb531.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5lenny1 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libpam-runtime 1.0.1-5+lenny1 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g1.0.1-5+lenny1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-15+lenny5 SSL shared libraries ii openbsd-inetd [ 0.20080125-2 The OpenBSD Internet Superserver ii openssl 0.9.8g-15+lenny5 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) binary a Versions of packages uw-imapd recommends: ii postfix [mail-transport-agent 2.5.5-1.1 High-performance mail transport ag Versions of packages uw-imapd suggests: pn logcheck none (no description available) ii mutt [imap-client]1.5.18-6 text-based mailreader supporting M -- debconf information: uw-imapd/force_debconf_choice: false uw-imapd/protocol: imap2, imaps -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#539090: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Extreme slowness after upgrade from 2.7.1-1
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.8.0-1 Severity: normal Certain drawing operations seem to be extremely slow after a recent upgrade from 2.7.1-1. For instance, 'loopy 9x9t4' takes about 45 seconds to start; this is new behaviour since the upgrade. I'm using a 915GM on a HP nc6220 notebook, with a 1400x1050 display. I set my virtual screen size to 1600x1200 since I sometimes use an external monitor with that resolution. I notice the slowness whether or not using the external monitor. (I'll note that this upgrade did also fix two different display glitches: in the older versions, text mode used to get corrupted, and the screen would occasionally flicker momentarily.) -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Bug#513879: gnumeric: Copy of attached file causes X to hog CPU
Package: gnumeric Version: 1.8.4-1 Severity: normal On some circumstances, copying causes the X process to start hogging the CPU. Bug#511999: gnome-control-center: Keyboard option Disable sticky keys if two keys are pressed together has no effect
Package: gnome-control-center Version: 1:2.22.2.1-2 Severity: normal In Keyboard Preferences, the option Disable sticky keys if two keys are pressed together has no effect; if no other action is taken, the option is effectively always on. Bug#508634: okular: Does not exit full screen mode
Package: okular Version: 0.7.1-1 Severity: normal Okular will at least sometimes refuse to leave full-screen mode, with several different ways to try. * Entering Ctrl-Shift-F has no effect. * Selecting Exit full screen mode from the pop-up menu has no effect. * Showing the menubar and selecting Exit full screen mode from the menu hides the menu bar, but otherwise has no effect. In all cases the screen flickers as though okular temporarily exited full-screen mode and then immediately reentered it. This has happened briefly in the past and I managed to exit full screen mode (without completely diagnosing the problem); the most recent time I was unable to exit the mode at all. Since documents are currently being opened in full screen mode, this is somewhat annoying... Bug#492517: haskell-mode: Need more lines in site-start file
Package: haskell-mode Version: 2.4-1 Followup-For: Bug #492517 The previous message gives a workaround, but this is a genuine bug that needs to be fixed. The problem is that /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50haskell-mode.el is missing several commands needed for correct startup of the haskell modes. It seems that the correct site startup file is included in the package, at /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/haskell-mode/haskell-site-file.el ; I don't know why there is a separate, incomplete version. In particular, the missing command for this bug is this: (autoload 'inferior-haskell-load-file inf-haskell \ Pass the current buffer's file to the inferior haskell process. If prefix arg \\[universal-argument] is given, just reload the previous file. \(fn optional RELOAD) t nil) Perhaps you want to delete the documentation, but it is a bug not to arrange for the autoload to happen. (Perhaps an alternative is to load haskell-site-file when haskell-mode is first entered; that should suffice to fix this bug, but I haven't checked if there would be problems with other autoloads.) -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (50, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.27.2 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages haskell-mode depends on: ii emacs [emacsen] 22.2+2-4The GNU Emacs editor (metapackage) ii emacs21 [emacsen]21.4a+1-5.6 The GNU Emacs editor ii emacs22 [emacsen]22.2+2-4The GNU Emacs editor ii xemacs21-mule [emacsen] 21.4.21-4 highly customizable text editor -- Versions of packages haskell-mode recommends: ii ghc6 6.8.2-7GHC - the Glasgow Haskell Compilat haskell-mode suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#489775: libparams-validate-perl: prototype.patch bug: Undefined subroutine Params::Validate::_validate called at /usr/lib/perl5/Params/ValidateXS.pm line 131.
Package: libparams-validate-perl Version: 0.91-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Lines 131 and 132 of /usr/lib/perl5/Params/ValidateXS.pm are invalid. They were added in 0.89-3 (UNRELEASED), with a note: NOTE to potential uploaders: please check if debian/patches/prototype.patch is sane and remove it otherwise debian/patches/prototype.patch is most certainly not sane, and it should be removed. Removal of this patch fixes the problem. A more elaborate explaination: pod-coverage complained about the original source lines, which looked like this: *validate = \_validate; *validate_pos = \_validate_pos; So, prototype.patch was created, which makes them read this way: *validate = \_validate([EMAIL PROTECTED]); *validate_pos = \_validate_pos(\@@); Perl interpretes \_validate([EMAIL PROTECTED]) as \ (_validate([EMAIL PROTECTED])), which is: passing @$ as a reference to _validate(), and take a reference to the return value. This causes the program to die, because at the time it is called, there is no _validate() function (it is undefined). -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libparams-validate-perl depends on: ii libc6 2.7-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii perl 5.10.0-10 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-base [perlapi-5.10.0]5.10.0-10 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbis libparams-validate-perl recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. The sysfs patch was really ameliored in -6 so it may have changed something. With xfce4-battery-plugin version 0.5.0-6, the output looks somewhat plausible: with my main battery at 100% and the travel battery at 94%, the battery plugin reads 96%. I'm guessing this is the expected behaviour. The only small glitch I see is that when the travel battery is removed the percentage full doesn't change for a few minutes. I tried this before and after moving my previously working .wesnoth out of the way. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (50, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages wesnoth depends on: ii libboost-iostreams1.34 1.34.1-11 Boost.Iostreams Library ii libc6 2.7-11GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfreetype6 2.3.5-1+b1FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libfribidi00.10.9-1 Free Implementation of the Unicode ii libgcc11:4.3.0-5 GCC support library ii libsdl-image1.21.2.6-3 image loading library for Simple D ii libsdl-mixer1.21.2.8-4 mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl-net1.2 1.2.7-2 network library for Simple DirectM ii libsdl1.2debian1.2.13-2 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libstdc++6 4.3.0-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii python2.5 2.5.2-5 An interactive high-level object-o ii wesnoth-data 1:1.4.2-1 data files for Wesnoth ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime Versions of packages wesnoth recommends: ii wesnoth-httt 1:1.4.2-1 Heir to the Throne official campai ii wesnoth-tsg 1:1.4.2-1 The South Guard official campaign ii wesnoth-ttb 1:1.4.2-1 A Tale of Two Brothers official ca -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
