Bug#1043480: tar bug - unreadable part of files are shrank by "x" bytes while ddrescue can save more bytes than tar shrank

2023-08-11 Thread Elias Tsolis

Package: tar
Version: 1.34

unreadable part of files are shrank by "x" bytes while ddrescue can save more
bytes than tar shrank routine.
So my idea is to run ddrescue in these cases in order to rescue more bytes from
the file.

Also, tar when finished says "finished with errors" without reporting that errors where
"shranking".
Neither prints the filepaths/files that were shrank by x bytes.

I think this is an important bug cause it can result defunct useless files.

My system is linux with debian bookworm 12.

Bug#1034033: upgrading to bookworm created problems by forcing me to rewrite ".so" / config files.

2023-04-06 Thread Elias Tsolis

Package:|maintonly|

My syslog is full of such messages reaching gigas. What to do? I try
to trunctuate logs. I know about logrotation.

These bugs happened after upgrading to bookworm sid debian. I
installed 2.7.6.1 glib from source succesfully.

Two problems mainly exists:

  * fuse: failed to access mountpoint /run/user/1000/gvfs: Transport
endpoint is not connected" and
  * undefined symbol "g_task_set_static_name"

For the 2nd one I think - in upgrading process - i have overwritten
some .so/config files (otherwise no upgrade). Normally, i think, glib
installation must "rewrite" those ones. But i have found from other
programs that this is not the case. So i deleted them by searching
wrong / older associations. Here, I dont know what is the wrong
association / older versions.

Purging / removing glibs is not solution, 11GB claims to uninstall
with hundred of packages. So, I would like to find specific files or
associations that are wrong and to replace them.

BUG after update: PulseAudio: `module-alsa-sink` cannot be loaded
automatically by `module-udev-detect` related also to `sudo alsa
force-reload` which does not solve the problem reporting fail to unload
some modules.

The command `pactl load-module module-alsa-sink` works  as workaround.

BUT when running `systemctl --user restart pulseaudio` reports "no
output device".

`sudo alsa force-reload`
