Bug#562849: texlive-luatex: luainputenc incompatible with LuaTeX in debian

2009-12-29 Thread Elie Roux

Norbert Preining a écrit :

I was thinking about creating a debian package
lualatex-modules
(or similar) that contains:
luatextra
luamplib
luainputenc
luaotfload
luafontspec
or even single package for all five of them. This way we can update
them more easily ...

I think it's a good idea! The thing is fontspec will be common for
LuaTeX and XeTeX... so it may seem unfair to put it in lualatex-modules,
but I don't think it's big deal as long as fontspec is also in
texlive-xetex (is it possible?).

The other option is that I will rebase the debian packages of TeX Live
against one of the current svn revisions -- something I will do anyway
now and then.

What do you think? The question is primarly on how fast those modules
change and we need to update them. If once in a while togehter with
the rest of TL then we leave them in, otherwise we can think about
factoring them out.

In fact it's hard to tell... these modules are quite stable, but
surprises happen, like the incompatibility introduced by LuaTeX 0.44,
and if these things happen, it's quite urgent to have an update. Same
problem with luaotfload that has to deal with changes in the font
system, etc. So I think if LuaTeX gets updated really often in Debian
like it is now, it would be good to have this package lualatex-modules.

Thank you!

Bug#562853: reportbug crashes when canceling mailer choice

2009-12-28 Thread Elie Roux
Package: reportbug
Version: 4.9

reportbug crashes when I follow these steps:
 - reportbug
 - make a beautiful bugreport (I tried on texlive-luatex)
 - at the choice of the end, choose "Choose a mailer to edit the report"

everything does the same

Bug#562849: texlive-luatex: luainputenc incompatible with LuaTeX in debian

2009-12-28 Thread Elie Roux

Subject: texlive-luatex: luainputenc incompatible with LuaTeX in debian
Package: texlive-luatex
Version: 2009-6
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***

First thank you very much for your work on integrating TeX Live 2009 in
Debian! It's really great to be able to use it!

The file

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[utf8]{luainputenc}
\begin{document}
test
\end{document}

does not compile. This is due to the fact that LuaTeX 0.44 introduces an
incompatibility with pdfTeX: \endlinechar must be <256 (while it has no
upper

bound in pdfTeX).

luainputenc v0.94 (in Debian) tries to do the same as inputenc, which
means setting adding 1000 to \endlinechar, and this raises an error in
LuaTeX 0.50. I think this issue is major for LuaTeX users because most
of them need luainputenc to compile their documents. TeX Live and the CTAN
have a newer version of luainputenc (v0.95) that solves this problem, it
would be useful to have it in Debian too.

Also if you update luainputenc, please update luatextra too, as the
future fontspec 2.0 (that will be working under LuaTeX and XeTeX)

will need the latest version (on the CTAN and TeX Live).

Thank you.

Bug#473160: uswsusp: whitelist of Dell XPS m1530

2008-03-28 Thread Elie Roux

Package: uswsusp
Version: 0.7-1.1
Severity: important

I have a Dell XPS m1530, and I would like to be able to suspend simply.
After some search I found that s2ram -f was working nice, even with X.
So I'd like my laptop to be whitelisted.

s2ram -n :

Machine unknown
This machine can be identified by:
   sys_vendor   = "Dell Inc."
   sys_product  = "XPS M1530   "
   sys_version  = ""
   bios_version = "A07"

I've sent a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but no news...

Another problem I have is that the buttons "Suspend" on gnome don't
work, they don't use the -f option, and I can't find how to pass it to
them. I changed /etc/hibernate/ususpend-ram.conf by uncommenting

USuspendRamForce yes

but no effect...

Thank you in advance

Bug#470433: texlive-omega: Segfault in ovp2ovf

2008-03-13 Thread Elie Roux

Hilmar Preusse a écrit :

Well, ovp2ovf itself says the upstream would be tex-k@ so bug reports
should be sent there IMHO.

I tested you omfonts... that's totally weird: it also segfaults on my
laptop... I really don't understand... My laptop is a Dell XPS m1530.

I've sent a bugreport at this address, they can't reproduce this
segfault neither, but I hope they will integrate this patch so that this
won't segfault on my laptop anymore.

Is this an official fix from the tex-k list?

The "official fix" would probably include the strong recommendation to
migrate to OpenType, i.e. use XeTeX or luaTeX. :-)

I'm using LuaTeX ;)

The segfault I have is on

http://norgz.info/download/gregorio.ovp

Yannis Haralambous and Arthur Reutenauer told me this ovp was good. The
fix is almost official as Arthur Reutenauer gave it to me. According to
him it is an old fix that is still not included in some distros, so I'm
going to ask Yannis Haralambous to send the fix to the texlive team.

Thanx,

I have a default etch installation, and aptitude refuses to install
opustex, as I have not the tetex packages it depends on...

You're right, but OpusTeX is mostly used to typeset gregorian chant, fot
which it is really the best macro package, even if it has a lot of defaults.

I'm building my own gregorian chant TeX package (for Omega in fact...),
but it is not finished yet (http://home.gna.org/gregorio/), I hope it
will be finished in september.

I think OpusTeX should not be dropped now from Debian, it would be
better to wait for another gregorian chant typesetting system (Lilypond
and MusiXTeX are really bad for gregorian chant).

Package: opustex

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

opustex depends on tetex-bin and tetex-extra, but texlive is used since
etch.

Why is the old version still used instead of the latest (which is very
old too)?

Does the "licence" allow to patch OpusTeX?
