First of all, thanks for your interest in the issue, apparently it fixes

Bug#323593: linux-source-2.6.12: 2.6.12 psmouse incorrectly recognizes Alps touchpad as Glidepoint

2005-08-17 Thread Enver ALTIN
Package: linux-source-2.6.12
Version: 2.6.12-3
Severity: normal

I used to use 2.6.11 here on my Dell Latitude D500 laptop and the
psmouse driver (which presumably included the patch which comes with the
xorg-driver-synaptics package) was recognizing the touchpad just well.

I upgraded to 2.6.12, and now it recognizes it incorrectly as ALPS
GlidePoint, the xorg-driver-synaptics thing doesn't detect the hardware
because kernel support just isn't there.

Also, it claims that it enabled hardware tapping,

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmesg|grep -i alps
alps.c: Enabling hardware tapping
input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint on isa0060/serio1

but tapping doesn't work for me.

Thanks,

Bug#309256: kernel-patch-suspend2: is filewriter disabled?

2005-05-15 Thread Enver ALTIN
Package: kernel-patch-suspend2
Version: 2.1.8.2-7
Severity: important

It seems to me that somehow crucial parts of filewriter plugin
has been #ifdef 0'ed, and it looks like on purpose.

I'd like to kindly ask, what was the reason behind that decision?

You know, my physical memory is larger than my available swap, and it's
a bit weird to resize my filesystems and repartition just to be able to
suspend when more physical memory is in use :)

I was just going to re-enable that again, but I thought I should ask
before doing so.

Thanks,

Bug#276524: still there?

I couldn't duplicate the problem anymore. I did a few kernel upgrades
since then, and I guess the problem was probably related to the
userspace governor.

Thanks a lot for your interest,

Bug#295106: dpkg: postinst/postrm scripts don't work if /var is mounted with noexec

For the security point of view, mounting /var and /tmp with noexec is usually
believed to be a good idea, since this would protect the system from
unauthorized execution of unknown applications. Unfortunately, when /var is
mounted, postinst and postrm scripts don't seem to work.

Do you see an easy solution for this?
