Bug#694011: desktop-base: problem after updating from Squeeze to Wheezy
Hi Boris, hi Yves-Alexis, Am Fri, 23 Nov 2012 10:06:50 +0100 schrieb Yves-Alexis Perez cor...@debian.org: To me there's two issues/fixes: 1) make KDM correctly handle the case where the selected theme is gone That should already be covered. We have a palceholder, namely Theme=@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@ in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc (Boris could you check that?) which is substituted by kdm's init.d script. The setting is replaced with values from /etc/default/kdm.d/10_desktop-base. So you always should end up with the theme currently installed, since the setting and kdm theme come from the same package (desktop-base). I admit that the whole process is a bit messy and I probably miss something, since this all was set before I was involved. I do not use text editor to change that theme, but use standard program KDE System Settings. And it updates related configuration files. Ok, so that is the Problem. By changing it via systemsettings, you replaced the @@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@ with an hardlink to spacefun, which was not available after upgrading to wheezy. So this should only affects a few users. Do you think this bug should be reassigned to package systemsettings? No, it's kdm/desktop-base fault. On Mon 21 March 2011 09:18:51 Frédéric Boiteux wrote: As Raúl said, I don't see any power measure in this new release of powertop (lot of added information, but need some info to understand how to use them). How / Where can you see the power consumption ? This information is meant to be displayed at the top line of the Overview tab. However, I had a closer look at the source and it seems, that this information might not be available on many (all?) systems, since powertop 1.97 only checks in the deprecated /proc/acpi/battery/ directory for consumtion information. I managed to patch powertop to use /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/, that should be available on systems with modern kernels, so that I got proper consumtion displayed on my thinkpad X201, but since that (dirty) patch might break functionality on other notebooks (especially since different units seem to be used across systems), it's not a global solution, hence not attaached :).
