Video output control -- /proc/acpi/ibm/video

This feature allows control over the devices used for video output -
LCD, CRT or DVI (if available). The following commands are available:

    echo lcd_enable > /proc/acpi/ibm/video
    echo lcd_disable > /proc/acpi/ibm/video
    echo crt_enable > /proc/acpi/ibm/video
    echo crt_disable > /proc/acpi/ibm/video

    echo expand_toggle > /proc/acpi/ibm/video

Hi!

In ch06.en.html#_troubleshooting_ssh,

"Use the "-P" option if you are root and have trouble with a firewall; this
avoids the use of server ports 1 — 1023."
The "-P" option should be "-p" option. The ssh client only has -p option.

Bug#322676: 8.7.1 rm -rf .* don't remove the parent directory

2005-08-12 Thread ФʢÎÄ Faris Xiao

Package: debian-reference-en
Version: 1.08-3
Severity: important

tips.sgml

8.7.1 rm -rf .*

In "rm -rf .*", ".*" expands to include "." and "..", and if you happen
to have privileges to write to the parent directory then you'll end up
removing all directories *next* to your current directory as well.

   * "rm -rf ." : removes everything under current directory and
 current directory itself.
   * "rm -rf *" : removes every non-dot files and non-dot directories
 under current directory
   * "rm -rf .[^.]*" : removes every dot files and dot-directories
 under current directory.
   * "rm -rf .*" : removes everything under parent directory and parent
 directory itself.

In sarge,I has privileges to write to the parent directory.
When I execute "rm -rf .*",it can't removes parent directory itself as
the document described.

debian:~/tmp# export LANG=C
debian:~/tmp# rm -rf .*
rm: cannot remove `.' or `..'
rm: cannot remove `.' or `..'

In woody,is this command will take affect?
Is this note specially for woody?

If this does happen w/ 2.6.12, then a backtrace would be useful.
Hit ctrl-alt-sysrq-t to get a dump of all processes on the system; that
should include the rmmod process.

The attachment cast.txt is the out put of ctrl-alt-sysrq-t.
I can't execute ctrl-alt-sysrq-t under X Windows terminal,so I only get
the last screen of the out put.

Could tell me how to get the whole out put of the ctrl-alt-sysrq-t? Can
it redirect to a file?

Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686
Version: 2.6.8-16
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I has a usb cable modem.
My usb cable modem use kernel driver module usbnet.

When I am using the modem,I execute the command:

rmmod usbnet

The model usbnet can not be removed.
Also the process which execute the command can not be finished,it
consume the CPU 99% persistent,over and over.Even I can't use

kill -9 "process id"

to terminal it ,only reboot the whole computer.

The following is the dmesg output about my usb cable modem:
