I had a look into the code and the fix for the /tmp file issue would be a simple mkstemp call. But i'd also suggest to remove gpicview from the release, as the quaility of the code is simply not good enough to be released anytime soon. There some possible buffer overflows, multiple hacks, TODO comments and the coding style overall is bad.
