Bug#872072: Installation failed - boot leads to grub-shell

2017-08-14 Thread Frank Sell
Package: grub2

Hi team,

I tried to install two different server using a usb stick with
debian-9.0.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso on it.

I downloaded it: Jul 11 11:41

Both server has:

Asus Board with onboard CPU

16 GB of Ram

10 x 1TB Sata Drives ( 2 connected to the Board, 8 connected to a SATA
Controller)

Installation was done wiith manual partitioning.

Software-Raid 5 (8 active, 2 spare)

Onto the Raid setting up LVM with root, boot, swap and other partitions.

swap used as swap and the other on as ext4.

Installation comes to setting up grub.

I choose all devices (/dev/sda, /dev/sdb, )

In log output it seems all ok

Booting after installation run into grub-shell

Error: grub-install failed to connect to lvmetad

Error lmvid not found.

Booting into recovery shows all filesystems after assembling raid
automatically

Do you have any hint? I saw only old entries in the web, tried somthing
but not was helping.

Could not use reportbug on this machine
