Attempt to open software that uses v4l2 camlink device the device node get's
registered but when attempting to read it there's a kernel error.

Boots fine if legacy bios only is selected in the system setup (bios)

if the system is in UEFI mode (required for dual boot) I see grub

to input at all)

I also tried beta4 which got a little further in that a text mode grub
menu appeared with the
option to boot the installer in text mode or graphics mode.

Bug#291850: In the new world order Xrandr 1.2 can provide this data

2007-07-24 Thread Grant Diffey
So if you ask xrandr you can find out what's connected where and it's
resolution and physical dimensions

So with an external monitor connected to my laptop xrandr gives the following
output:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1792, maximum 2048 x 2048
VGA connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 376mm x 301mm
   1280x1024 60.0*+ 75.0 59.9
   1280x960 59.9
   1152x864 75.0 74.8
   1024x768 75.1 70.1 60.0
   832x62474.6
   800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
   640x48075.0 72.8 66.7 60.0
   720x40070.1
LVDS connected 1024x768+0+1024 (normal left inverted right) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768 60.0*+
   800x60060.3
   640x48059.9
TV disconnected (normal left inverted right)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

So of the 3 outputs on my display 2 are connected the physical dimensons of
each are correctly reported

but when I fire up ogle it gets the following

Note[ogle_vout]: Using 'X11' as source for geometry
Note[ogle_vout]: Using 'Xinerama' as source for resolution
Note[ogle_vout]: Display w: 401, h: 601, hp: 1024, vp: 768
Note[ogle_vout]: Display sar: 615424/307968 = 1.998337
Note[ogle_vout]: Found 8 matching visuals, using visual id:23

so while maximising windows works correctly to a single screen the video
aspect is displayed incorrectly

Bug#409394: please update to 0.8.1

2007-04-14 Thread Grant Diffey
It also includes the commandir driver that I need

Lacking serious packaging skills (evil checkinstall stuff is as good as I get)

I'll probably just work out how to build the driver out of tree but a package
would be nice when you can get to it.

Regards
Grant

Bug#292290: XFS corruption under 2.6.8

2005-02-12 Thread Grant Diffey
I installed a system on XFS deciding to try the new shiny efficient
filesystem now availible in DI.

I started having issues where the system would no longer be able to
exec programms but all running programs would work fine

So I'd reboot peek at the logs which didn't have anything useful. and
go about doing my normal computing stuff until it happened again rinse
repeat until today about a fortnight after I install when XFS decices
it can't repair the filesystem and prints gobs and gobs into my kernel
log.

so. I now have to re-install and then install a new kernel-image. :(
