Bug#311218: e2fsprogs: assertion failure making partition unusable: solution: get rid of assertion
Package: e2fsprogs Version: 1.37-2 Severity: important I couldn't mount my hda6 partition anymore... # e2fsck /dev/hda6 e2fsck 1.37 (21-Mar-2005) /dev/hda6: recovering journal Assertion failure in jread() at /usr/projects/e2fsprogs/debian/e2fsprogs-1.37/e2fsck/recovery.c line 140: offset journal-j_maxlen So I thought, if the journal is causing troubles, let's get rid of it. But... # tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/hda6 tune2fs 1.37 (21-Mar-2005) The needs_recovery flag is set. Please run e2fsck before clearing the has_journal flag. Oops... circularity! Finally fetched the source, uncommented the assertion, et voila, e2fsck continued fine and I could mount my partition again. This assertion is probably very important, but my partition seems in perfect condition right now, and I think there should be an easier way to resolve this problem than fetching, modifying and compiling the source... -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-ck3 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages e2fsprogs depends on: ii e2fslibs1.37-2 ext2 filesystem libraries ii libblkid1 1.37-2 block device id library ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcomerr2 1.37-2 common error description library ii libss2 1.37-2 command-line interface parsing lib ii libuuid11.37-2 universally unique id library -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#301217: libgdk-pixbuf2: problem with XPM image loader
Package: libgdk-pixbuf2 Version: 0.22.0-7 Severity: important There is a problem with GdkPixbuf, causing many applications to fsck up, not show any images, and some, like Evolution, even crash. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?postid=793814 says I had exact same problem after updating from RH7.3 to FC1. The following fixed it for me: /usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules /usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders And this solved the problem... Bug#299497: audacity: trimming
Thanks for the request. I'm not certain exactly what the requested feature is, however. Can you ask the original reporter for a more detailed description of the desired action? Some google hits for video trimming: * http://www.southalabama.edu/oll/jobaidsfall03/video/Trimming%20a%20Clip%20and%20Publishing.htm * http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/learnmore/trimmingclips.mspx (sorry for where this comes from ;) As far as I could understand the person wanted to cut/copy a piece of audio, put it on another track, and then be able to push back the place where the piece was cut/copied. This would imply that Audacity knows where the piece of audio comes from, so that some extra sound at the beginning (or the end) can be added if needed. That's great to hear! Is this related to the GeekCorps Mali project? Yep. You guessed that? :) Or did I mention that before? http://audacity.sourceforge.net/contact/lists Watched at it before, but I've had a mailinglist overdose a while ago ;) Anyway, I just subscribed. thanks! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. The program still crashes now and then (of which I'll try to get some more specific details), and an autosave function would help people to avoid losing lots of work. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-ck5 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6GCC support library ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-3ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.0-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.10-2 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxgtk2.4 2.4.2.6 wxWindows Cross-platform C++ GUI t -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#299476: audacity: Noise removal makes it to sound very digital
Package: audacity Version: 1.2.3-1 Severity: normal Noise removal makes it to sound very digital. Note: this is not really my own bugreport, I know it is very difficult to do a well sounding noise removal. But I got the complaint that Audacity isn't doing very well compared to Cool Edit Pro and Sound Forge. I haven't used non-free audio software in a very long while, so I cannot confirm this. So maybe make this a minor bug. Or a feature request for a better noise removal. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-ck5 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6GCC support library ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-3ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.0-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.10-2 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxgtk2.4 2.4.2.6 wxWindows Cross-platform C++ GUI t -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#299485: audacity: Pasting to an empty track should be on the cursor, not at the beginning
Package: audacity Version: 1.2.3-1 Severity: normal When pasting to an empty track the sound is being put at the beginning of the track. This can be very confusing, since when you're not actually looking at the beginning you won't have any feedback of the action. It's also wrong, since it would be much more logical to paste on the current position. So please make it to paste to the current position, and if this is somehow unwanted behaviour, move the current view to the beginning. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-ck5 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6GCC support library ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-3ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.0-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.10-2 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxgtk2.4 2.4.2.6 wxWindows Cross-platform C++ GUI t -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#299484: audacity: Playing the sound shouldn't block editting
Package: audacity Version: 1.2.3-1 Severity: wishlist It should be possible to keep on working on the project while listening to it. If you devs are scared this might brake some things: make it optional so that people like me, who prefer to listen while editting can live with the possible dangers (if the autosave option I wished for in another bugreport is implemented as well this would be less of a problem). -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-ck5 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6GCC support library ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-3ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.0-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.10-2 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxgtk2.4 2.4.2.6 wxWindows Cross-platform C++ GUI t -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#299497: audacity: trimming
Package: audacity Version: 1.2.3-1 Severity: wishlist I don't exactly know what trimming does, though I might have used it in Ardour once or twice. So, I got the request to implement trimming in Audacity, from someone who is acquainted with Cool Edit Pro and with video editing software. P.S. Last one for today I guess :) Though more will probably follow, folks in Mali (West-Africa) are using Audacity, and they're fairly happy, but they want more. I hope to find some time in a month or so and start hacking on some of the requested stuff myself. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-ck5 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) (ignored: LC_ALL set to C) Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6GCC support library ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-3ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.0-1 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.10-2 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.0.1-1 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxgtk2.4 2.4.2.6 wxWindows Cross-platform C++ GUI t -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#298549: audacity: should be able to automatically choose audio support (and have JACK support)
Package: audacity Version: 1.2.3-1 Severity: wishlist Audacity should automatically pick a working sound output. And it should have JACK support. So it should check if JACK is running, if so, it should use JACK, otherwise it should try ALSA and finally OSS. Probably it should also check for some sound daemons.
