Bug#1051028: google-chrome-stable: Google Chrome does not respect prefers-color-scheme for webpages on KDE Plasma
Hello, as xdg-desktop-portal* packages are responsible for GTK in Chromium related browsers i tried with: ii xdg-desktop-portal 1.8.1-1 amd64desktop integration portal for Flatpak and Snap ii xdg-desktop-portal-gtk 1.8.0-1 amd64GTK+/GNOME portal backend for xdg-desktop-portal ii xdg-desktop-portal-kde 5.20.5-1 amd64backend implementation for xdg-desktop-portal using Qt No positive effects, webpages were not rendered dark, stayed in light mode. After purging them, i tried with the backported: ii xdg-desktop-portal 1.16.0-2~bpo11+1 amd64desktop integration portal for Flatpak and Snap ii xdg-desktop-portal-gtk 1.14.1-1~bpo11+1 amd64GTK+/GNOME portal backend for xdg-desktop-portal ii xdg-desktop-portal-kde 5.20.5-1 amd64backend implementation for xdg-desktop-portal using Qt Both had no positive effects, webpages which had prefers-color-scheme: dark stayed light mode. I hope, this additional information could help you. -- Regards GwenDragon pgpPMJVLDn1me.pgp Description: PGP signature

Testcase 1. Open f.ex. https://gwendragon.de/ or https://youtube.com in Google Chrome 2. Page has white background and is not rendered in CSS dark scheme Expected Page is rendered in dark CSS scheme Current --- Page is rendered in light CSS scheme Additional -- Works in - Firefox 117 Fails in - Edge 116 - Chrome 116.0.5845.140 - Chrome 117.0.5938.35 beta - Chrome 118.0.5979.0 dev - Vivaldi 6.2.3105.45 Stable In all Chromium related browsers chrome://settings/appearance was set to GTK long time ago to get Breeze Dark theme working. With browsers before Chromium 116 core all was ok with rendering in KDE. KDE was installed with Debian 11 netinstaller some months ago and rendering workd in older browsers. More strangeness is that prefers-color-scheme works in a Debian 11.7 GNOME installation! -- Regards GwenDragon pgpLbuNIZM5xl.pgp Description: PGP signature
