Bug#682705: gimp 2nd level dialogs freeze
Update. I have switched to using Single Window Mode to see if it made a difference to the dialog freezing problem and indeed it does. Previously, the problem would happen every time I used GIMP and sometimes several times per session. I define a session as editing or creating one image. Using Single Window Mode the issue only transpires infrequently, perhaps once in every 10 sessions. Hello Ari, On Sat, 28 Jul 2012 19:12:10 -0400 Ari Pollak a...@debian.org wrote: Are the freezing dialogs always file-related? No. It also happens with, for example, Colours/Levels or Image/Scale. Does it only happen when they're open to a specific directory? The opened files can be anywhere in my $HOME which is a local disc or a remote system mounted using gvfs/fuse. Bug#682705: gimp 2nd level dialogs freeze
Package: gimp Version: 2.8.0-2+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Second level dialogs invariably freeze when using Gimp. I have not experienced the same problem with any other GTK packages. By second level I mean the dialogs started from File, Edit, Select, etc., for example, the Save a copy or Export dialogs. When the freeze happens the mouse is unable to operate any buttons or other controls. It is possible to operate buttons and controls using keyboard shortcuts and tabbing from one to the next. Sometimes after a long wait, 10 minutes or more, the dialogs will become mousable again. Window manager controls always remain mousable. gdb output attached. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.38-bpo.2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gimp depends on: ii gimp-data 2.8.0-2 ii libaa1 1.4p5-39 ii libatk1.0-0 2.4.0-2 ii libbabl-0.1-0 0.1.10-1 ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.6-1 ii libc6 2.13-32 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.5.12-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-20.98-1 ii libexif12 0.6.20-2 ii libfontconfig1 2.9.0-5 ii libfreetype62.4.9-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.1-1 ii libgegl-0.2-0 0.2.0-2 ii libgimp2.0 2.8.0-2 ii libglib2.0-02.32.3-1 ii libgs9 9.05~dfsg-5 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.10-1 ii libgudev-1.0-0 175-3.1 ii libjasper1 1.900.1-13 ii libjpeg88d-1 ii liblcms11.19.dfsg-1.1 ii libmng1 1.0.10-3 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii libpng12-0 1.2.49-1 ii libpoppler-glib80.18.4-2 ii librsvg2-2 2.36.1-1 ii libtiff43.9.6-5 ii libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 1.8.1-2 ii libwmf0.2-7 0.2.8.4-10 ii libx11-62:1.4.99.901-2 ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.13-1 ii libxext62:1.3.1-2 ii libxfixes3 1:5.0-4 ii libxmu6 2:1.1.1-1 ii libxpm4 1:3.5.10-1 ii python 2.7.2-10 ii python-gtk2 2.24.0-3 ii python2.7 2.7.3~rc2-2.1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-11 Versions of packages gimp recommends: ii ghostscript 9.05~dfsg-5 Versions of packages gimp suggests: ii gimp-data-extras 1:2.0.1-3 ii gimp-help-en [gimp-help] 2.6.1-1 ii gvfs-backends 1.12.3-1 ii libasound21.0.25-3 -- no debconf information (gdb) bt #0 0xb7fe2424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb71eca26 in poll () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #2 0xb72f807b in g_poll () from /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #3 0xb72e9950 in ?? Bug#345002: streamripper produces corrupt ogg files
Package: streamripper Version: 1.61.7-1 Severity: important Streamripper produces corrupt ogg files. Using ogginfo on a 5 second file recorded by streamripper produces output as follows: New logical stream (#1, serial: 327b23c6): type vorbis Vorbis headers parsed for stream 1, information follows... Version: 0 Vendor: Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20040629 Channels: 2 Rate: 44100 Nominal bitrate: 256.00 kb/s Upper bitrate not set Lower bitrate not set Warning: sequence number gap in stream 1. Got page 1510 when expecting page 2. Indicates missing data. Warning: EOS not set on stream 1 Vorbis stream 1: Total data length: 183196 bytes Playback length: 4m:12.065s Average bitrate: 5.814231 kbps Some players (e.g. Helix) will refuse to play a file recorded by streamripper. Others (e.g. xmms, vlc, ogg123) will play the file but it is impossible to navigate the file (e.g. skip ahead, rewind). The forum for the upstream package has a couple of postings confirming this problem: http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/openbb/viewtopic.php?t=1481 http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/openbb/viewtopic.php?t=1458 I can confirm that re-encoding the ogg file repairs it but is very time consuming. The upstream package concentrates on mp3 with ogg as an in development add-on. In the Debian context there is no official mp3 solution and the ogg recording is crippled. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages streamripper depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libmad0 0.15.1b-1.1 MPEG audio decoder library -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. In the Debian context there is no official mp3 solution and the ogg recording is crippled. thanks for your detailed report. Indeed, .ogg ripping is in development. Im going to speak with Greg what his supposed deadline for this fix is. If this problem will not be fixed until the next stable release (i dont think so, since greg speaks about 1-2 Months) im going to disable the .ogg ripping feature. Until then, lets wait for new shiny releases :) I think it would be a shame to do that. I use ogg, and only ogg, for all my compressed audio. I do have access to mp3 but I have all the vorbis tools available for free courtesy of Debian, Xiph and others. Personally, I would prefer to re-encode than have to convert from mp3 to ogg. (i will also add a note to README.Debian right with the next upload) It would be sufficient, for now, to put a note in the README.Debian in my opinion. Though it also occurs to me that the package description for Debian should say into track-separated ogg files. -- Regards, Iain. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
