Bug#830260: gnome-terminal: Keyboard typing lags if no other WM activity

2016-07-07 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.20.2-1
Severity: normal

What I do:

ensure there is no gnome-terminal running (ps -A | grep gnome-terminal)
run gnome-terminal
type 's'
press Backspace
repeat typing-pressing a few times

What I see:

a few seconds delay before 's' appears after typing or gets erased once
backspace is pressed; the delay is quite random from sub-seconds to
tens of seconds; constantly moving mouse pointer around or clicking it,
causes 's' to appear/disappear immediately, changing window focus also
helps, but typing more - does not help, whole text typed in blind
appears with a delay

What I expect:

immediate UI reponse even if no other WM activity

When I noticed the issue:

after the recent upgrade of a number of packets

I see the same lagging using firefox too, but most applications are
fine, among them other terminal emulators (mlterm and xterm) and gtk-3
app evince. When I try to debug with strace, responsiveness is
excellent.

Bug#752757: libstdc++6: shared printers.py script is different for ARMEL and ARMHF for the same package version

2014-06-26 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: libstdc++6

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

it is impossible to install the package for both armel and armhf because the
shared file is different in them:

libstdc++6_4.9.0-7_armel.deb
libstdc++6_4.9.0-7_armhf.deb

armhf/usr/share/gcc-4.9/python/libstdcxx/v6/printers.py

this is the issue with installing the packages as dpkg reports:

dpkg: error processing archive

the armhf version of the script looks better, pretty sure it will work in
armel as well; can it be the same for both architectures?

Bug#752254: bash: Duplicating RO file descriptor for output is not a redirection error

2014-06-21 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: bash
Version: 4.3-7
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

it is stated in manpage that duplicating RO file descriptor causes a
redirection error:

$ man 1 bash | grep -A17 'Duplicating File Descriptors$' | tail -n2
   output (file descriptor 1) is used. If the digits in word do not
specify a  file  descriptor
   open for output, a redirection error occurs. If word evaluates to -,
file descriptor n is

but it does not:

$ ( set -e ; exec 3 /dev/null ; exec 43 ; echo OK )
OK

an error would be to write to the RO file descriptor:

$ ( set -e ; exec 3 /dev/null ; exec 43 ; echo 4 ; echo OK )
bash: echo: write error: Bad file descriptor

it is not a redirection error, but another one; I have checked two other
shells: dash and ksh, — neither of them raises any redirection error, then I
guess it is a documentation bug, and this sentence can be safely removed:

If the digits in word do not specify a file descriptor open for output, a
redirection error occurs.

Bug#746213: lua-curl: no Lua 5.2 support

2014-04-28 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: lua-curl
Version: 0.3.0-7
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the package cannot be used with Lua 5.2 that is current stable release
of the language; also this is the only cURL wrapper Lua library
available in Debian repository; does it make sense for you to adopt the
package so that it could be used with Lua 5.2?

I could successfully recompile it from sources with only few lines of
code fixed. I am ready to attach the patch here if it might be useful,
though the modifications are quite straightforward and well documented…

Anyway, let me know if I can help with this!

Bug#677963: /usr/share/man/man1/find.1.gz: Contradictory to the manual page, -size does count indirect blocks

2012-06-18 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: findutils
Version: 4.4.2-4ubuntu1
Severity: minor
File: /usr/share/man/man1/find.1.gz

Hello,

$ man find | grep -m1 -A22 -- -size

The manual page find(1) states that -size does not count indirect blocks.
Were it true, it would be impossible to distiguish files 48K. Obviously,
-size does count indirect blocks.

The statement «the size does not count indirect blocks» is not clear enough
to understand what does it mean in reality. Please, reformulate it.

Bug#593558: libffi-dev: ffi_call segfault: read beyond the heap, allocated for return value

2010-08-24 Thread Igor Bogomazov
ret value must be 10 for strnlen, and 5 for u8_mbsnlen;

I've slightly modified the strlen.c from testsuite/libffi.call; in the
same manner I've replaced return value type ffi_type_sint with a
structured type of the size sizeof(size_t). Test interrupts since
then:

$ ./a.out
check new
check new-elements
check ffi_arg
init
size of the structure
check 1
Aborted

All right when return value of ffi_type_sint (comment out rows ##42, 45
and uncomment ##43, 46):

$ ./a.out
check new
check new-elements
check ffi_arg
init
size of the structure
check 1
check 7
check 25

There's no problem on x86_64 as well.

  It can be compiled without libunistring as well (see notes, please):
  1. comment out rows #7 and #8
  2. uncomment #9
  3. gcc-4.4 -lffi -o test test.c

  What the code does:
  1. creates a new ffi_type to emulate size_t;
  2. allocates array of types of function arguments: (char *) and

Bug#559022: Fw: Bug#559022: iproute: tc filter action ipt -j MARK still causes an error about libipt_mark.so

2009-12-02 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Hello, Andreas Henriksson!

 The bug report contains no information. The command you quote
 in the subject is invalid syntax.

 Please append a proper report including atleast:
 - A detailed description of what you did.
 - The result.
 - What you expected to happen.

OK, sorry. It seems I didn't fileld reportbug properly.

My actions:
tc filter add dev lo parent : protocol ip prio 10 u32 match u32 0 0
flowid 1:1 action ipt -j MARK --set-mark 1 action mirred egress
redirect eth2

Results:
/lib/iptables/libipt_mark.so: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory failed to find target MARK

bad action parsing
parse_action: bad value (10:ipt)!
Illegal action

The problem were reported early. The solution proposed was to update
iproute up to 20090324. It won't work for me.

Bug#559022: iproute: tc filter action ipt -j MARK still causes an error about libipt_mark.so

2009-12-02 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Cool!

 Could you please test the attached patch?

 cd /tmp
 git clone
 git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/shemminger/iproute2.git
 wget http://fatal.se/tmp/iproute-xtables-1.4.5-rev2.diff cd iproute2
 patch -p1  ../iproute-xtables-1.4.5-rev2.diff
 make

 ./tc/tc

It works now just after I've added limits.h to
include/linux/netfilter_ipv4/ip_tables.h:20

 I couldn't get the above command to work,

It's an example command from
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=510924

Now I see Command line is not complete error instead of failed to
find target MARK and it is good

 PS. I've notified Jamal (of net...@vger.kernel.org fame)
 who has been working on this before about the issue.

Thanks alot,

Igor

 remove it and install phonon-backend-xine.

I've tried to run amarok with redirecting all its output
to a log-file and found something:

The whole log-file is attached.

Bug#508806: amarok: silence instead of any sound

2008-12-15 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: amarok
Version: 2.0-1
Severity: important

Amarok starts fine and works well, but makes no sound when
I try to play anything. No error, no other problems, but it
is absolutely unusable for me.

Bug#508016: debian-reference-en: z25_persistent-net.rules is not always a correct file name

2008-12-06 Thread Igor Bogomazov
Package: debian-reference-en
Version: 2.20
Severity: minor

The file /etc/udev/rules.d/z25_persistent-net.rules is
mentioned in 6.1.3. I found that it has a different name on
my machine: /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and
I have no any files named starting with z25_.

How to determine what name has the file in any Debian OS?

 This is enough for now, but given this trace, could you send the file
 /home/ygrex/.claws-mail/folderlist.xml attached? Seems its contents are
 causing trouble to the xml parser.

ok?
strange, it contains some sites... why claws did care of them?..

 provide a stack trace of the crash?

of course; there's a part of what gdb output (or should it be pasted
completely?):
