Bug#995321: RFP: treetime -- General data organisation, management and analysis tool using linked trees.

2021-09-29 Thread Jacob Kanev
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: treetime
  Version : 2021.8
  Upstream Author : Jacob Kanev
* URL : http://www.github.com/jkanev/treetime
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : General data organisation, management and analysis tool
using linked trees.

TreeTime is a general data organisation, management and analysis tool using
linked trees instead of flat lists or tables. A tree is a hierarchical
structure that arranges your data into units and sub-units. Mathematical
functions (sum, difference, mean, ratio) can be calculated recursively. Linked
trees are distinct trees that share data between them. In TreeTime, a data
object is part of several trees at the same time. TreeTime is a time planner, a
to-do list manager, a test report tool, a project planner, a family ancestry
editor, a mind-mapping tool, and similar.

The package can replace any conventional spreadsheet software, offering
different analysis features and way of data organisation. Packages that are
comparable are treeline (however, this only uses one single tree and not
connected trees), or any spreadsheet software. A software with an identical
name exists, package name is "python-treetime". This software is totally
unrelated.

2018-01-05 Thread Jacob Kanev
Hi Pino,
thank you for the message. Switching to Python 2 is not an option, as our
company management system (OpenERP / odoo) is written in Python 2 and I cannot
rewrite that.
That said, I've switched to PyCharm which happily supports both 2 and 3.

Have a very nice week-end, all the best, Jacob.

Bug#804764: kdevelop-python: Python 2 support missing

2015-11-11 Thread Jacob Kanev
Subject: kdevelop-python: Python 2 support missing
Package: kdevelop-python
Version: 1.7.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I would like to use kdevelop to program/debug a larger application that
requires Python 2.7 (OpenERP/Odoo). Unfortunately, when I start debugging in
kdevelop I get the message "Sorry, debugging is only supported for Python 3.x
applications". Kdevelop-python is the only python plugin in Debian and supports
only python 3. When installing kdev-python from ubuntu I don't get this message
(although there are other problems). With python 2 still in widespread use this
is a major issue.

Lots of regards, Jacob.

Bug#582253: [sweethome3d] sweethome3d crashes on startup

2010-05-21 Thread Jacob Kanev

Finding a dedicated driver for my graphic card (SiS 771/671) has been a
nightmare so far, and I'm already using the best there is.

Nevertheless, replacing the package
   libgl1-mesa-glx
with the package
   libgl1-mesa-swx11
solved the problem with Java 3D and sweethome3d.

Server glx version string is now 1.4 (instead of 1.2 as before).

Lots of regards, Jacob.

Bug#556409: [digikam] Pressing OK/Cancel in geolocation editor crashes digikam

2009-11-15 Thread Jacob Kanev
Package: digikam
Version: 2:1.0.0~beta6-1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Pressing OK/Cancel in geolocation editor crashes digikam.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open digikam
2. Select a photo
3. Select from menu: Image - Geolocation - Edit Coordinates
4. Optional: Edit the geolocation
5. Press Okay or Cancel
6. Digikam crashes (segmentation fault)
The new geolocation has been saved in the file all the same.

This is similar (equal?) to bug 199801 on the digikam-devel mailing list, which
does not seem to have been followed up upon.

Lots of regards, Jacob Kanev.

Bug#546542: [wpasupplicant] roaming does not work

2009-09-13 Thread Jacob Kanev
Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.6.9-3
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Roaming with wpa_supplicant does not work, ifup/down does not work together
with wpa_supplicant, calling wpa_supplicant directly gives errors.

Details:

My /etc/network/intefaces contains:
iface ath0 inet manual
wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

When starting an interface with

r...@vulpecula:/etc# ifup ath0

the script replies with

wpa_supplicant: /sbin/wpa_supplicant daemon failed to start
run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant exited with return
code 1

two process have been created:

u...@host:# ps aux | grep wpa
root 12476 0.0 0.1 4856 856 ?Ss 23:09 0:00
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
-P/var/run/wpa_supplicant -B
root 12548 0.0 0.0 2236 332 ?Ss 23:09 0:00
/sbin/wpa_cli -B -P /var/run/wpa_action.ath0.pid -i ath0 -p
/var/run/wpa_supplicant -a /sbin/wpa_action

and an additional file /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf has been created
automatically. Note that the command line for the wpa_supplicant shows the
conf-file to be at /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf while
/etc/network/interfaces states /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. Cleaning up:

r...@vulpecula:/etc# ifdown ath0
r...@vulpecula:/etc# killall wpa_supplicant
r...@vulpecula:/etc# rm -r /var/run/wpa*

No wpa_supplicant processes are running now, /var/run/ is clean. Starting
wpa_supplicant directly:

r...@vulpecula:/etc# wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0
-c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
ctrl_iface exists and seems to be in use - cannot override it
Delete '/var/run/wpa_supplicant/ath0' manually if it is not used anymore
Failed to initialize control interface 'DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
GROUP=wlan'.
You may have another wpa_supplicant process already running or the file
was
left by an unclean termination of wpa_supplicant in which case you will
need
to manually remove this file before starting wpa_supplicant again.

after this, again the above two processes are running, and
/var/run/wpa_supplicant has been created. It turns out that this happens even
if ifconfig is used:

r...@vulpecula:/etc# ps aux | grep wpa
root 12690 0.0 0.1 4888 744 pts/1S+ 23:25 0:00 grep
wpa
r...@vulpecula:/etc# ifconfig ath0 up
r...@vulpecula:/etc# ps aux | grep wpa
root 12694 0.0 0.1 4856 840 ?Ss 23:25 0:00
/sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
-P/var/run/wpa_supplicant -B
root 12702 0.0 0.1 4888 740 pts/1S+ 23:25 0:00 grep
wpa

When opening a second terminal with top running while trying ifup ath0, the
following can be seen:

1. ifup starts wpa_supplicant
2. wpa_supplicant wants to activate the ath0 interface
3. this spawns a second wpa_supplicant, with different conf file (see
above)
4. wpa_supplicant (2) writes the control files into /var/run
5. after activating, wpa_supplicant (1) finds these control files, assumes
another instance is running and exits with error
6. ifup is cancelled due to error

After this it is possible to manually select a network using wpa_gui or
wpa_cli, but no automatic connection. The user is forced to put the conf-file
into /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant, since all other places are ignored.
Grepping for /etc/wpa_supplicant/ in /etc gave no result. Neither hotplug nor
ifplugd are installed on the system, no udev rules regarding wpa exist, and
wpa_supplicant had been purged and re-installed cleanly.

Lots of regards, Jacob.

Different learning curves may be selected, and for foreign language texts there

Okay, a misunderstanding. Which closes the bug, obviously.

The only way to add CiteSeer to the list of online databases is to hack
the sources itself, or help upstream doing it ;-)

Good idea, I'll consider.

Bug#330284: The same bug occurs on my i386 system.

2008-01-06 Thread Jacob Kanev
Package: qt3-designer
Version: 3:3.3.7-9

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When starting designer with and without file name on the command line,
designer crashes and takes the X-server with it (as described in the previous
reports). I use Enlightenment (1:0.16.999) and X.Org (xserver-xorg-core is
version 1:7.3+9). Other QT3-Applications and KDE applications work fine.

Lots of regards, Jacob.
