Bug#655966: wicd-gtk: wicd-client needs option -t, to start also in tray - undocumented behavior in manpage

2012-01-15 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: wicd-gtk
Version: 1.7.0+ds1-9
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Since a few month, wicd-client starts with the GUI and an Icon in the
tray (stalonetray on this machine), when i start wicd-client from a
shell (or startupskript in fvwm). When i close the GUI, also the icon in
the tray disappears, and the process wicd-client ends.

In the changelog.Debian.gz i found, that there is a new option -t,
which starts wicd-client only in the tray. When i start wicd-client with
this option, the old behaviour is here again.

But there is no documentation in the man-page.
Please can you put the new option in the manpage, and document the new
behaviour?

greetings

jakob

Bug#655994: wicd-gtk: wicd-client confusing GUI

2012-01-15 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: wicd-gtk
Version: 1.7.1~b3-3
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

the german version from wicd-client has a confusing apperance.
The Refresh-Button is labeled as Einstellungen, which means
Options. The Options-Button is also labeled as Einstellungen. This
is correct.

At each wireless-connection are two checkboxes Verbinde automatisch mit
diesem Netzwerk (connect automatically with this network).
If i chech the second, the fist is deactivated (grey, unfunctional)
This seems not very logical.

greetings

jakob

Bug#654889: desktop-file-utils: update-desktop-database corrupts mimeinfo.cache

2012-01-06 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: desktop-file-utils
Version: 0.18-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I´m NOT using gnome, i´m a FVWM-User, and there is the Problem, when i
try to Open a PDF-file in Iceweasel or nautilus, this Programs always
start gv instead of evince, xpdf or acroread.

update-desktop-database puts /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
alwas gv.desktop at first in the line application/pdf.

I found out, that there is also a file defaults.list in this directory,
which should handle personal preferences to default-programms.
But this file is ignored. So i found a this line

  * Remove defaults.list stuff, it’s all in gnome-session now.

in the changelog.Debian.gz from desktop-file-utils... So i can´t set
defaults for every user on my machine.

I can only set a default-application in
~/.local/share/applications/default.list for every user...

And this isn´t documentated... It took me a very long time, to find that
out.
Remember, not everyone is using gnome, so it would be fine, if there is
a possibility to find the information in the man-page, or better, put in
again this stuff into update-desktop-file-utils.

regards

Jakob

Bug#628885: News: Folderpane ignores new Messages

2011-06-01 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: icedove
Version: 3.0.11-1+squeeze2
Severity: normal

It is a Problem, wich i have in Icedove since many versions and years. I have
the same Problem with Thunderbird and on Windows...

The Problem is only in the Newsgroup-Section in the Folderpane. Mail and RSS
are working correct.

When a new Message in a newsgroup arrives, there should be a signalisation in
the newsgroup. Another icon, another fontcolor or something similar. I
repeate, this works with mails and RSS-feeds. With newsgroups it workes only a
short time, then there is only the signalisation of read/unread
messages.

I tried this on my old profile, i tried this on my new profile, i tried this on
linux, i tried it on windows, i tried it with iceweasel and
thunderbird... after a while or some restarts of the mailclient, it forgets to
show new messages in newsgroups.

My newsserver is localhost. I have a local leafnode for a few different
news-accounts on different news-servers.

With CSS-Selector from the add-on Mail-Tweak i can see the propertys of the
Elements. So i have the situation, that there is in a newsgroup a new
Message with the propertys
Type: treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text
Properties:
(unread)
(new)
(news)
(news)

The folderpane for this newsgroup has:
Type: treechildren::-moz-tree-cell
Properties:
(folderNameCol)
(hasUnreadMessages-true)
(serverType-nntp)
(specialFolder-none)
(biffState-NoMail)
(isSecure-false)
(noSelect-false)
(imapShared-false)
(account-news.localhost)
(name-at.test)

You can see, (newMessages-true) is missing, but there is on the same time a new
message with the propertie (new) in this newsgroup.

So i tried a new profile. It works a few times, then the habit is the same as
described.
I tried to delete the news-directory. Same habit. I can see new messages a few
times, then habit like described.
I tried to delete only the newsrc-localhost: I have to readd the account and
the newsgroups. After that, no signalisation of new messages.
I deleted the *.msf-files. The same.
I deleted the *.dat-files. The same.
I deleted the *.msf- AND *.dat files. Same habit.
I deleted the *.msf- *.dat and the newsrc-file. New messages are shown in the
folderpane. But only a few times.

When CSS-Selector shows the newMessage-true property, the icon and fontcolor
changes, like it should do. So i think there is a wrong counting of new
Messages in Newsgroups. Or icedove stops counting new messages after a while or
in case of strange settings somewhere else, or it reaches a count and
stops then... Or something strange else.

I can reproduce this habit here on my machine again and again. It´s independend
of other addons. I tried this. All add-ons deactivated, all add-ons
deinstalled. Totally new Profile... And all variants. Always the same habit. It
shows new messages only a few times, then only read/unread messages.
That´s all.

are only files with charge_* and the same rest of these names.
I changed s/energy/charge/, recompiled xosview and now xosview works
fine.

Hi!

When i declare a Path to a pre- oder postdisconnect-script, wicd will run this
script at the beginning of a connection-try. wicd freezes on this
place.
When there is no path to a skript for disconnection, wicd workes fine.

The Log (with a pre-disconnection-script):
2010/04/25 10:32:05 :: Connecting to wireless network myESSID
2010/04/25 10:32:05 :: Running pre-disconnect script

I set special routes an open a vpn-tunnel on connecting, and i will close and
delete all them on disconnect. This won´t work.

Bug#578434: cyrus: Changing Junk-Status to No-Junk (in Icedove3) let disappear mail and create hardlink

2010-04-19 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: cyrus-imapd-2.2
Version: 2.2.13-19
Severity: important
File: cyrus

When i mark an Mail in Icedove in the Junk-Folder as no-Junk, it goes to the
Inbox-Folder as unread.
When i change to the Inbox-Folder, the Mail sometimes disapperas immediately.
Never found it again in Icedove.

So. I use Icedove as a IMAP-Client for a cyrus-Mailserver. Cyrus runs on the
same machine (localhost).
When i look in the spool-directory of cyrus /var/spool/cyrus/mail/j/user/jakob
i can find the expecting mail with grep.
This mail/the file is now hardlinked

for example:

-rw--- 3 cyrus mail 15310 12. Apr 22:37 27183.
^

This happens with each Mail when i change the Junk-state to no-junk

Maybe it is a Problem of Icedove, because, when i try this with evolution, it
won´t happen.
Or it´s a Problem of the combination Icedove/Cyrus

Bug#578439: icedove: Icedove crashes cyrus mailserver when setting junk-state to no-junk

2010-04-19 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: icedove
Version: 3.0.4-2
Severity: important

Hi!

I have a similar bugreport for cyrus-2.2 (see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=5784349) because i do not
know, which Program is
responsible for this fault.

When i give a Mail in the Junk-Folder the Junk-state No-Junk, it moves to the
inbox. When i click to the inbox, the mail disappears immediately.
A cyrreconstruct of the mail-structure doesn´t bring this mail back.
Searching for the mail in the spool-directory shows, that there are more then
one hardlink to this mail. even some in the Junk-folder, and some in the
Inbox. They all point to the same inode.

When i delete all exept one of these hardlinks, cyrreconstruct bring this mail
back.

There is no such effect with Evolution. So i think it must be one of cyrus or
icedove.

greetings

jakob

So the the Test for rf_kill wouldn´t work too, if the test for $DEVICE/wireless
would be successfull.

Maybe this is the reason, why turning off my WLAN-Interface by the physica
switch an turn on again won´t bring up the WLAN again.

My Laptop is a DELL Latitude D630.

The wireless-card is (lspci)

Network Connection (rev 02)
The driver is iwl3945

Bug#537233: /usr/bin/users-admin: users-admin crashes /etc/group

2009-07-16 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: gnome-system-tools
Version: 2.22.0-3
Severity: critical
File: /usr/bin/users-admin
Justification: causes serious data loss

I tried to add a new user with users-admin over gnome-control-center, and then
/etc/group was overwritten with a new version including only two lines.
nogroup and a group named with the name from the new user and number 0.

/etc/group- was the same.

Fortunately i found a backup in /var/backup which was 10 days old.

This happend the 3rd time on two different Systems (both Debian Lenny).

Now i reconstructed the /etc/group-file, but now i get no acces to users-admin,
also trying this as root. Wheter from an xterm nor from gnome-control-center.

regards jakob

Bug#513005: fvwm: Fullscreen with two Monitors is broken

2009-01-25 Thread Jakob Schuerz
Package: fvwm
Version: 1:2.5.26-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When i have 2 Monitors (Laptop + Beamer), and i will make a Presentation with
Openoffice, or look a Flash-Video like Youtube-Vids, the
Fullscreen-mode is broken.
I get a Window-decoration around the Fullscreen-Window...

When i start fvwm from a xterm, an then i start a Presentation i get the
following Message:

[fvwm][GetWindowSizeHints]: WARNING The application window (id
0x34030f8)
  OpenOffice.org 2.4 has broken size hints (max_width).
  fvwm is ignoring those hints.hint override = 0, flags = 234

  width_inc = 0, height_inc = 0
  min_aspect = 0/0, max_aspect = 0/0
  base_width = 0, base_height = 0
  win_gravity = 10

If you are having a problem with the application, send a bug report
with this message included to the application owner
There is no need to notify fvwm-work...@fvwm.org.

The Problem is with fvwm self-compiled from the original sources, and in the
Debian-Package.
The Problem is also with one Monitor in the Debianpackage. A self-compiled fvwm
from a weekly-snapshot from www.fvwm.org has this Problem only
with two Monitors. So it seems to be fixed there (notice!!! with two Monitors
the Problem still exists there!!!)

if [ $BRIGHTNESS_COMMAND -gt $BRIGHTNESS_OUTPUT ] ; then

But i don't know how to make a patch.
