This seems to be a qt issue, the combos are filled calling: QList allLocales = QLocale::matchingLocales(QLocale::AnyLanguage, QLocale::AnyScript, QLocale::AnyCountry); I'm attaching a minimal qlocale's ls names, that can be compiled with: c++ -fPIC -lQt5Core main.cpp -I/usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtCore -I/usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5 -o main In the hope that this might ease the reproducibility of the issue. The script returns error if the en_NL name is present. This could be improved using the "official" list of valid locales entries (/usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED). Happy hacking, I have reset the language to its intended value of en_US.UTF-8 using `kcmshell5 formats`. Thanks for your helpful answer.

Maybe that could be reworded to mention that they can be pre-installed but I doubt that's a huge issue. Agree. On the same page command reportbug installation-reports is wrong; should not have the final 's'. The command is actually correct: installation-report is a package, while installation-reports is a pseudo package which collects installation reports. Thanks for the clarification. Bug#728363: Subject: kde-full: Starting synaptic in kde asks for root password when sudo installed and used.
Package: kde-full Version: 5:77+deb7u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, On a clean install (hard disk has had its partitions changed) I installed among others the base system, sudo, xorg, kde-full and synaptic. Because I installed and sudo, my machine does NOT have a ROOT password. Trying to start synaptic from the KDE menu results in a message box stating: 1. The action you requested needs root priviliges, which is correct. 2. Please enter the root's password ... which is incorrect when sudo is used. There is no root's password and entering the current user's password results in an invalid password error. The bottom line is that I cannot start synaptic from KDE. As far as I understand the Debian repository system, the fix for this problem will not be in the upcoming wheezy (testing) release; nor in the next one, sid (unstable). Bug#703196: Second attempt
This morning I had another look at this problem and I noticed something I missed yesterday. My spreadsheet contains a line which I use as a kind of template. This line contains the formula like =Annn in column B and =Ennn-Dnnn in column F (typo here in original report). In all cases nnn is the number of the current row. Whenever I insert a new row into the spreadsheet I copy this template row into it. What I missed when writing my original report is that in the template row and its copy the row number had for mysterious reasons gone bad by ten. After changing this back to the correct row number the date and the time difference display correctly. My apologies for this noise. However, the problem mentioned in the subject of this report still stands: Format Friday is no longer available for Category Date in the list presented by CTRL+1 for a newly created .ods file. It is available in the older file. Regards, Jeroen. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#703196: /usr/bin/ooffice: Date can no longer be formatted as the name of the day of the week only.
Package: openoffice.org-common Version: 1:3.2.1-11+squeeze8 Severity: normal File: /usr/bin/ooffice I have an old (started on May 29, 2011) and large (765 rows by 14 columns) spreadsheet. Mosts of these rows start with the date in format '-MM-DD' in column A. Column B in the same row contains '=Annn' with 'nnn' being the row number. In this spreadsheet the format of this cell in column B is Category Date, Format Friday, the last entry in the list presented by CTRL+1. This worked well until today. Now OO-Calc insists that today, 2013-03-16, is a Wednesday, while just above 2013-03-14 is correctly showns as a Thursday. I created a new spreadsheet in an attempt to reproduce this problem in a smaller file. Now I find that Format Friday is no longer available for Category Date in the list presented by CTRL+1. At the same time it *is* available in the large file mentioned above. With the Format 'Fri, Dec 31, 99', in the small file 2013-03-16 correctly formats as 'Sat, Mar 16, 13'. Also starting today, the large file displays another problem that cannot be reproduced in the small file. Columns D, E and F are formatted as Category Time, Format '13:37'. Column D contains '16:39', column E '17:14', column F '=Ennn-Cnnn'. In the large file column F shows '00:32', in the small file it correctly shows '00:35'. After that, I found that my Forerunner appears on my computer as /dev/bus/usb/005/003 which I have entered in Setup - General - Serial Port. I have set the Type to whatGarmin. Please note that in the error message above my Garmin is correctly identified as a Forerunner 205. and I received the following reply Oliver Eichler oliver.eich...@gmx.de: On my computer I run Debian Squeeze and QLandKarte GT 0.18.5 as provided by Debian. I added a few lines to the SVN version of GarminDev. You have to compile GarminDev on your own. Make sure to link against the legacy version of libusb: http://www.libusb.org/ Make sure to set the CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX to the same as your QLGT installation. If qlandkartegt is in /usr/bin then it is /usr. If it is in /usr/local/bin then it is /usr/local. I get the same error when I try to download tracks or routes. Please note that in the error message above my Garmin is correctly identified as a Forerunner 205. No need to enter anything else than the device type for usb device. But if you enter anything for the port it does not do any harm as the value is ignored for USB devices. What is my mistake? No mistake. Just missing device driver ;) Would it be possible to backport the fix in the SVN version of GarminDev mentioned above to Debian Squeeze? Package: kdevelop Version: 4:3.5.2-1 Severity: minor File: /usr/bin/kdevelop *** Please type your report below this line *** I installed kdevelop et al. and tried to create the SigCreate project as per http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDE3/Qt_Designer_and_KDevelop_3.0_for_Beginners Trying to build this project first runs automake et al., ending with running configure, which fails with the somewhat cryptic message configure: error: C++ preprocessor /lib/cpp fails sanity check See `config.log' for more details. I could then reproduce it with the emacs21 packages in Lenny, but the problem seems to be solved in emacs22. I do have (global-font-lock-mode t nil (font-lock)) in my ~/.emacs file. To bypass the problem, I added -*- font-lock -*- to the top of my local copy of the file, which works for me. Bug#321065: display: problem with font
Package: imagemagick Version: 7:6.2.4.5.dfsg1-0.14 Severity: normal I'm experiencing a variant of this bug. When I use `display` on http://www.xs4all.nl/~jnw/m-f/CB-1/Schoutenstraat-600x400.jpg and select Miscellany - Image info, I get the same error box about the same font. This box can be dismissed (or it will disappear by itself after some time) and the results that are then presented are perfectly readable in my case. This Image info also mentions the name of the missing font. Screenshot: http://www.xs4all.nl/~jnw/debian/bug321065/display-font-bug.png I don't know if display/imagemagick is correct in its error box, that is, I don't know if the font is or is not installed on my system. But as display can continue after this error, and does, the font problem need not be reported in a separate error box, but could be included in the Image info. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-2-486 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages imagemagick depends on: ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.3-6 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch7GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfreetype62.2.1-5+etch2FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libice6 1:1.0.1-2X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjasper-1.701-1 1.701.0-2The JasPer JPEG-2000 runtime libra ii libjpeg62 6b-13The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liblcms11.15-1 Color management library ii libmagick9 7:6.2.4.5.dfsg1-0.14 Image manipulation library ii libpng12-0 1.2.15~beta5-1 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 1:1.0.1-3X11 Session Management library ii libtiff43.8.2-7+etch1Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libx11-62:1.0.3-7X11 client-side library ii libxext61:1.0.1-2X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxml2 2.6.27.dfsg-4GNOME XML library ii libxt6 1:1.0.2-2X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-13 compression library - runtime imagemagick recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#286213: reopen 286213
I cannot exactly reproduce this problem, but I am suffering from (what seems to be) the same problem: X freezes, *except* *for* *the* *mouse* *pointer*; keyboard and mouse buttons are completely inoperative, but all other processes seem to be running normally. In my case this can happen at any moment; in any application, including the screen saver; and frequently, sometimes within 15 minutes after boot. And the problem is present in an up-to-date 'Ubuntu 6.06 LTS', kernel 2.6.15-27-386, as well as in Debian etch, kernel 2.6.17-2-486. I did some web research on this problem, and found two suspected but unproven causes. Because of the frequent reboots I don't have any bookmarks, unfortunately. The first suspect were ntpd and related utilities. The X system was supposed to be unable with negative time adjustments while it is running, suggesting an unsigned int being used for the difference between 'now' and 'then'. In my case the problem persists even with these programs disabled. And negative adjustments should not happen that often, if at all. The second suspect was that someone observed (using strace, iirc) that X was flooded with SIGALRM signals. The reason for this flood was unknown. This gave me reason to think. I'm running on what calls itself an 'Athlon XP (0.18) 1261MHz' CPU on an 'ASUS A7V333 rev 1.02' motherboard, which consideres itself running on the border of overheating, according to the sensors utility. And, if my impressions are correct, the freezes are more likely after more activity, when the CPU is more likely to be hot. The next thing I have to research is if X is somehow trying to terminate because it received some hardware(/BIOS?/kernel?) signal, and having that termination hit by the same signal again. What I would like to know is how the mouse pointer escapes the freeze. :-) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#309193: glibc 2.3.2 for i386 does not support TLS with a 2.4 kernel
I am running a 2.4 kernel, so the failure I reported is apparently not a bug. I also read somewhere that TLS requires package libc6-i686, which is not installed on my system. It would be nice if a diagnostic message was generated in this scenario, instead of TLS failing silently. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Where can I find if Debian supports TLS on this platform? It should work. That's why I asked you for a test case. Attached. 'make -LDFLAGS=-lpthread tls-temp; ./tls-temp;echo $?'. When make succeeds (it should); '0' should be printed, but '2' is. Adding any -ftls-model= does not change this. Also, can you point me to a better way to test for TLS? TLS can be a runtime property, not a compile time one. Runtime tests are seriously unwise in autoconf, though, so a compiler check is probably OK. For instance, on MIPS the linker may be built with TLS support but the kernel may be missing the relevant trap handler. TLS should be a runtime property for applications shipped in binary form; when the application is built on the infrastructure that will run it, it can be a compile time property (assuming you recompile afer changes in the infrastructure, eg a kernel upgrade). In fact, I have written an autoconf macro based on the attached program to check for TLS at build time. The program and the macro are based on parts of the source of valgrind http://valgrind.org/ where the problem showed up in the regression test. Any errors in the program and the macro are of course mine.
