Bug#952418: /lib/systemd/system/smcroute-helper.service: /lib/systemd/system/smcroute-helper.service: Comma in "After" list of the smcroute-helper.service

2020-02-25 Thread Joachim Nilsson
Thank you for taking the time to report this!

The helper service is being slowly phased out in favor of the native
.conf support in SMCRoute. It'll likely be removed in a future release
(nothing set in stone). So migrating to that is recommended. However,
until that day it should of course work as intended.

I've fixed the issue in the Debian Salsa GitLab, so any patch release we
push out will include a fix. But I honesly don't think we'll push a new
release just for this little one unless more people chime in.

Best regards
 /Joachim

Yes indeed, that seems to be the case. The tests require a bit
of love and encouragement to get into shape.

Yup.

I'll see what I can do about this. I'm still very much a Debian n00b,
but I'll try to set up a unit test environment to sandbox my fixes.
The last fixes were made with a blindfold on ...

Thanks for the hint, I'll upload it when the Debian freeze ends, which
is just a matter of days now. There is an ABI breakage compared to v3.0
(cfg_scan_string_begin and cfg_scan_string_end have been removed), so I
still have to decide if it is better to reintroduce these symbols
locally, ignore them or do an ABI transition.

It's very unlikely anyone ever used them, they were part of the
internal lexer API and have been replaced by a common FILE *fp
API using cfg_scan_fp_begin/end(), neither of which are part of
the official API.

Dear Maintainer,

the Inadyn upstream project has released quite a few new
releases since the one available in Debian.

I believe many of the bugs reported in Debian have been
fixed, e.g. HTTPS support using GnuTLS, as well as issues
about "sudden death". A lot of other features have also
been added, including systemd integration, simplified
command line and configuration file. The man pages have
been rewritten and should be a lot more accessible now.

The only thing that's not available is a wizard, requested
in bug #627971. If needed, I'm more than willing to help
out with any such integration.

Bug#609304: pimd: Insecure file creation in /var/tmp, (CVE-2011-0007)

Hi!

The fix looks good, regardless of the CVE. I've merged it, tagged a new

However, doesn't pimd run as root and if so don't you need to be root to
send SIGUSR1 to it? So, the severity of the CVE may not be critical
after all, or am I missing something totally obvious?

 Hi,

your package no longer builds on kfreebsd-*:

 | cc1: warnings being treated as errors
 | kern.c: In function 'k_del_vif':
 | kern.c:341: error: unused parameter 'v'
 | make[1]: *** [kern.o] Error 1

 (Yay for -Werror.)
Is there any real reason for forcing -Werror during the package build?

It's more of a policy thing for me. Warnings tend to hide real bugs ...
at least in my world. :)

I don't know if you had time to check the sources. The error is caused by
the fact, that MRT_DEL_VIF API is different in linux and in BSD (Linux
needs pointer to struct uvif). So the implementation in pimd:
   - always passes pointer to that structure to k_del_vif()
   - if on Linux, it is passed to kernel
   - if on BSD, it is not used

Yeah, this is a regression. My bad.

I've been working on fixing some bugs where mrouted and pimd share code
and I accidentally created this mess. It was bad testing on my part, sorry!

So I we stick with -Werror, than I see two solutions:
   a) wrap calls to k_del_vif() with additional logic which will change
the prototype / will decide to or not to pass the scructure
   b) fake use of 'v' (which is the structure) in k_del_vif()

Both options seems to be a bit of 'hack'.

The real fix is here:

It seems kFreeBSD is missing netinet/pim.h, although netinet/pim_var.h is
included. This just might have been overlooked when importing the tree.

I am working on porting pimd to Debian GNU/kFreeBSD and am trying to reuse
as much of the run-time build magic in local header files and Makfiles from
the FreeBSD detection code. It looks completely doable, but is slightly
troublesome considering this missing file.

Bug#294970: ifupdown: makenwdep.sh output is garbled if /bin/sh is a POSIX sh like /bin/dash

2005-02-12 Thread Joachim Nilsson
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.6.4-4.10
Severity: wishlist

While trying to rebuild ifupdown I noticed that makenwdep.sh was
generating bogus output, e.g.

-e defn2man.pl : ifupdown.nw
-e notangle -R$@ $ $@
-e chmod 755 defn2man.pl

This was due to my system having /bin/sh -- /bin/dash, which is POSIX
conformant and thus does not support -e to echo. However, as you see
the escape sequences was indented and properly parsed.

Adding the following line to the top of mkenwdep.sh script did the trick.

#!/bin/bash

I'm not sure using /bin/sh and removing -e from echo works on all
/bin/sh, probably not. Best to use bash, I guess.

Bug#293451: nautilus: Domain option missing in Connect to Server for Windows share type.

2005-02-03 Thread Joachim Nilsson
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.8.2-2
Severity: normal

This report concerns an inconsistency with the contents of different
dialogs providing basically the same function.

If I enter smb://server/share I get a dialog where I can fill in
username, domain and password. This works perfectly.

However, if I decide to use the way of Connect to Server from the
File menu instead there is no way of providing the domain part and
I cannot connect to the server.

A simple fix, for someone with knowledge of Nautilus internals, would
be to simply add a Domain field to the Connect to Server dialog
when Windows share type is selected.

The network of servers I connect to all run various versions of
Windows 2k or later.

The bk patch does solve the errors. It does this mainly by removing the

runtime errors, the annoying warnings remain.

My patch otoh keep the original icons, the same as are used in the

a new function that replace missing icons from the .glade file. On top

I know I'm not exactly impartial here, but the bk patch is ugly. Maybe
we should let our patch flow upstream?

 Is gconfig even maintained upstream?

Dunno, but 2.6.10-ac5 has the following changelog entry that might
be worth taking a closer look at:

* Make gconfig work with current gtk 2.4 (J Magallon)

Generally the kernel team doesn't really like putting stuff in that
isn't going upstream. But in this case I am of the mind that as
it can't possibly break the kernel, and given that gconfig is broken,
it can't make is work less, we might as well put something like this
if someone is willing to put the effort in to get it working.

OK. It's really not that much work to keep it (the .glade file) in
sync, so if the 2.6.10-ac5 fix isn't applicable then I could keep an
eye at it. Unless somebody else has a more dire urge to do so.

Bug#291914: meld CVS could fix many current problems

2005-01-23 Thread Joachim Nilsson
Package: meld
Version: 0.9.4.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

This is just a minor suggestion, you might even already be aware of it,
but here goes. I've been experimenting with trying to fix the current
meld in Debian/Sarge, but I gave up and simply checked out the latest
from branch-0_9 in GNOME CVS.

That one works just perfect for me, and even though I haven't tested all
functions I think that would be a good idea to include in Debian. I've
noticed many other package maintainers do this as well.

If you don't have the time I could probably squeeze in some time to
build a proper[1] CVS deb. What do you think?

 /Jocke

[1] - Shouldn't be too hard, even with my limited knowledge.
