Bug#849330: firmware-iwlwifi: intel 8260 does not work when using modfile /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-22.ucode and kernel 4.8

2018-08-18 Thread jon parker
I just upgraded to the backported package... the same file was installed
(iwlwifi-8000C-22.ucode), and after rebooting I do not have any problems
anymore.

Cheers,
Jon

Bug#849330: firmware-iwlwifi: intel 8260 does not work when using modfile /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-22.ucode and kernel 4.8

2016-12-25 Thread Jon Parker
Package: firmware-iwlwifi
Version: 20161130-2
Severity: important

Hello Maintainer,

Using a laptop with an intel 8260 wifi chip (HP Zbook 15 G3) and linux kernel
4.8, wifi does not work.
This is a known problem; see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/51271

It looks like the answer is that the debian package does not contain the latest
fixes.

I can fix the problem by following the directions in the website link given
above:
- copy / move /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-22.ucode, and the kernel will then
use /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-21.ucode, which works.

Bug#840949: konsole: background konsole processing using 100% cpu after login

2016-10-16 Thread Jon Parker
Package: konsole
Version: 4:16.04.2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

On a clean login of Plasma, occasionally a background konsole process will be
running at 100% CPU usage. I have waited for some time for it to exit before
but apparently not long enough. Killing the process seems to end the problem
with no untoward side effects. Currently this is the only information I have,
I will update the bug if I can find more clues.

Bug#839236: sddm fails to display anything. segfault in sddm-greeter

2016-10-03 Thread Jon Parker
Package: sddm

Dear Maintainer,

A recent update is causing sddm to segfault on startup. Starting kde from
console using startx works fine.
I can also avoid the issue by setting kde to autologin my account. Here is a
relevant error message from journalctl:

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***
Today I updated my system with the latest jessie updates, including the kernel
update. The last time I updated was a couple of weeks ago.

Now there every 10 seconds or so there is a very brief, 1/2 second freeze in
Gnome 3.14.1 's interface. Using the restricted nvidia drivers, 340.46-3, with
a nvidia quadro k4200.
