Bug#755517: golang-go.net-dev: please package a new upstream version
I don't see any reason not to do this :) I started looking at the package migration, and i will spend some time on this today. Bug#646149: gnome-settings-daemon: Warning messages in user .xsession-errors log file
Hi, I read the gnome session documentation and got it working ! The issue was with the configuration of applications to launch at session stratup in the user configuration directory : .config/autostart I had a gnome-shell.desktop file (that I created a while ago) to run the gnome-session --replace command. It was disabled in gnome2 configuration but was executed when a gnome3 session was starting. gnome-shell was starting twice leading to an unusable desktop environment. I removed all the files in the autostart directory except conky configuration. Now gnome-session and gnome-shell works fine. I hope this helps. Regards, Jonathan Dray
Bug#646149: gnome-settings-daemon: Warning messages in user .xsession-errors log file
Hi, I made a few more tests in the gnome-fallback environment. Launching mutter and gnome-shell work fine ! Running gnome-shell --replace in a terminal gives a usable gnome shell application with compositing enabled. Now I wonder why gnome-shell is not called automatically when starting a nomal gnome 3 session. Can you give me more information on how gnome-shell is supposed to be launched ? Thank you. I've updated the liborbit2 package to version 2.14.19-0.1 and I don't experience the g-s-d segfault anymore. The gnome session isn't starting normally though. (only desktop background loaded) I have 2 error messages remaining concerning g-s-d in the user .xsession-error log file : * (gnome-settings-daemon:3418): WARNING **: Ignoring unknown module 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.gconf' * (gnome-settings-daemon:3418): updates-plugin-WARNING **: failed to open directory: Erreur à l'ouverture du répertoire « /run/udev/firmware-missing » I'm not sure that these messages are really critical as they are reported as warnings. Hi, Is this the same problem as described in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=645506#22 ? Yes it's the same problem. I opened a new bug report as the segfault on startup is fixed, but my gnome desktop is still unusable. If so, check if the gnome-session package is installed. Ok checked, all the gnome-session-* packages including gnome-session were installed. Additionaly, I found another error in the log file : (gnome-settings-daemon:3418): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed [1319200534,000,xklavier.c:xkl_engine_start_listen/]The backend does not require manual layout management - but it is provided by the application Thank you. Cheers, Jonathan Dray I had a similar problem and only solved it when I noticed that this package was missing. All the other g-s packages (-bin, -common, -fallback) were installed so I'm not sure if this is a problem with dependencies or just PEBCAK. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22

Package: nvidia-vdpau-driver Version: 190.53-1 Severity: grave Hello, I think I have more information on this. After investigating on how to enable vdpau with nvidia driver, I found that you have to install one the following packages : - nvidia-libvdpau1 : which is not installable because of a dependency issue. See bug report #566691 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=566691) I successfully compiled and installed it from sources. I edited dependencies configuration file (control file in debian directory) to fix nvidia driver package name. The problem now is that I have 2 libvdpau.so.190.53 files : - one provided by nvidia-vdpau-driver located in /usr/lib/vdpau/libvdpau.so.190.53 - another one provided by nvidia-libvdpau1 : /usr/lib/libvdpau.so.190.53 All the symlinks (libvdpau.so, libvdpau.so.1 and libvdpau_nvidia.so) refer to /usr/lib/libvdpau.so.190.53. Thus, /usr/lib/vdpau/libvdpau.so.190.53 is not used ... Something is still wrong with this configuration and I need to make some test to see if it even works ! - libvdpau1 : which is installable and provides a version of . However, the /usr/lib/libvdpau_nvidia.so symlink remains broken as it still points to /usr/lib/libvdpau.so.190.53 which is not provided by this package. Does someone have more information on that point ? package: kernel version: 2.6.24, 2.6.25 Hi, I get the same error message with ASUS A7K laptop. I thought it was a bios issue and I upgraded to the lastest AMI bios provided by asus : A7KAS.206 which was updated last week ! Without parameters, the system hangs at boot time. I had to specify at least nolapic and irqpoll. I also added noapic. If I don't use this option the system is significantly slower. Same happens for a 2.6.24 kernel in testing and a 2.6.25 versoin in unstable. Regards, Jonathan Dray
