Thanks for filing this bug. Please go ahead.

I unfortunately don't have the time to maintain libconfig these days, so feel
free to adopt the package if you are interested.

Jeremy, Jonas,

Please accept my apologies for the tardy response on this. I've been afk
for a couple of months due to life events.

Thanks for the previous NMU. I am happy to work on fixing up the FTBFS, but
because I am not a DD, I would need a sponsor to upload for me.

Given the circumstances, and the impending freeze, it might make more
sense for you to take over as maintainer if you are willing to do so.

Let me know what you think.

Bug#869596: libconfig: New upstream version 1.6 on github available

2017-07-24 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Source: libconfig
Followup-For: Bug #869596

Hi Tobi,

I am aware of this, but libconfig 1.6 is not suitable for upload to
Debian right now. At the most basic level, the SONAME has not been
bumped despite ABI breakage [1]. This is outstanding for 18 months at
this stage, and the original upstream maintainer even advises people to
revert to 1.5 for now [2].

Until these issues are fixed, I do not plan on uploading libconfig 1.6
to Debian.

Cheers,
Jon

Thanks for the patch. I've committed your change upstream as r1204 [1].

This FTBFS bug has been caused by the migration of Mercurial 4.0 into
testing. Mercurial 4.0 brings about a number of changes which break
git-remote-hg's tests, particularly in the areas of bookmarks and tags.
As a result, I'm not willing to just disable the failing tests.

Unfortunately upstream [1] [2] is not responsive at the moment. I have
noticed another fork [3] which is in significantly better shape when
using Mercurial 4.0 (only two tests failing), but this has diverged
significantly from the original upstream. As a result, it is not
possible to cherry-pick a patch or two which would resolve this issue.

Assistance from someone with knowledge of both Git and Mercurial
internals would be gratefully accepted.

Jon

2016-07-14 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: pulseaudio

Hi,

I too experienced this bug this morning after upgrading to pulseaudio

will cause a lot of pain for users upgrading from Jessie to Stretch,
once released.

If this is not possible, a NEWS.Debian notice would be useful.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#784578: xbmc: Can't play DVDs from nfs or samba shares

2016-03-14 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: kodi
Version: 16.0+dfsg1-1
Followup-For: Bug #784578

Hi,

It appears that this bug (or similar) is now affecting all DVD playback
in Kodi 16.

The following fails:
1) playback from physical DVD disc
2) playback from ISO file on local filesystem
3) playback from SMB share via add video source within Kodi
4) playback from SMB share mounted via /etc/fstab

Upon attempting to play DVDs via any of the methods above, the GUI
simply appears as "Working...", and the DVDPlayer thread uses 100% CPU
on one core. The GUI becomes unresponsive, and must be killed by sending
SIGKILL.

I've attached the relevant bits from the Kodi debug log.

Regards,
Jon

Bug#670984: Debian package for phidget

2015-02-11 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Hi Faben,

On Wed, Feb 11, 2015 at 10:56:04AM +0100, Fabien André wrote:
I saw your ITP of libphidget21 and the discussions that followed. Links
 from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=673098#5 suggest
that you have done most of the job but unfortunately they are broken.

Is the packaging code still available somewhere ?

Yes, it is still available here [1]. Please bear in mind that I haven't
looked at in number of years and will need refreshing. The comments
below might also be no longer relevant, but I suspect not.

Also, could you elaborate on copyright concerns with upstream code raised
 by Nicholas Breen?

Relevant excerpts from Nicholas' mail:

* None of the Phidgets code files have copyright information in the headers,
except for a couple that have something other than LGPL notices, such as
examples/phidgetsbclist.c and most files in Java/com/phidgets (All rights
reserved). Presumably it's LGPLed like the rest, but their own copyright
statement should clarify what files the LGPL license applies to -- ideally
in the files themselves, since the All Rights Reserved by itself does not
  permit anything.

* include/dns_sd.h: Copyright belongs to Apple and must be noted in the
  documentation.

* include/jni/*: SUN PROPRIETARY/CONFIDENTIAL. Use is subject to license
terms. Those license terms are not defined in the package. Whatever they
may be, it's almost certainly not permitted to redistribute them without that
  license available.

* Java/com/phidgets/event/KeyChangeEvent.java: Copyright 2006 Dictionarys Inc.
All rights reserved. Needs clarification and possible relicensing. Also
  KeyRemovalEvent.java.

* Java/*.h: all machine generated, but from what? Can they be regenerated from
files in the package and tools available in Debian? A brief note in
debian/README.source would more than suffice here.

* zeroconf_lookup.c: claims to be taken from mDNSResponderPosix's nss_mdns
code, which I believe is Apache 2.0-licensed (by Apple), not LGPL.

* utils/cvtutf.?: This code is copyrighted. Under the copyright laws, this
code may not be copied, in whole or part, without prior written consent of
Taligent. That's a red flag! It may need to be replaced with other code,
  e.g. http://www.unicode.org/faq/utf_bom.html#gen4

* utils/md5.?: Copyright Aladdin Enterprises. Okay to use but should be noted
  in copyright file.

* linux/avahi-{client,common}: Code copies are discouraged. Could it instead
build against the existing libavahi-client-dev and libavahi-common-dev
packages? The different origin of these files should also be noted in
debian/copyright; they could also be stripped entirely, but since they're
LGPLed as well, probably not worth repacking the tarbell. A note in
debian/README.source explaining that they're unused (if moved to using the
  libavahi* packages instead) would help.

Last question, are you still interested in maintaining this package, and
would you mind if somebody else take over?

Unfortunately I have no longer have access to any phidget hardware, so I
have no interest in maintaining it. Feel free to reassign the ITP.

Jon

This appears to have been fixed as part of Awesome 3.5.6.

Would you be able to upload this to experimental or unstable when you

Hi Keith,

Thanks for your bug report. For the upcoming Jessie release, the scan
files have been split out into a separate package called
dtv-scan-tables. Therefore I am reassigning this bug report to d-s-t.

On 18/10/14 18:48, Keith Edmunds wrote:
The transmitter information in this file is out of date. The attached
version of the file is correct.

Your patch for uk-RidgeHill is based on the version of dvb-apps in
Wheezy which was uploaded to the archive in 2012. There have been a
number of changes to this file since then. Can you take a look at the
changes in the upstream repository [1] and see if this has been resolved.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#755538: mutt: Add gpgme support to vk.pgp_verbose_mime.patch

2014-07-21 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.23-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

The vk.pgp_verbose_mime.patch in its current form doesn't support gpgme.
This results in GPG/MIME attachments having the noname filename.

The upstream ticket [1] has an updated version [2] of this patch which
adds support for gpgme.

Please consider updating this patch for the next mutt upload. It would
be great to have this in Jessie.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#733866: nyancat-server: drop reconf-inetd dependency

2014-07-16 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Hi Serafeim,

On 14/04/14 21:36, Serafeim Zanikolas wrote:
Can you please provide a tested patch to cleanly remove any existing
entries in /etc/inetd.conf prior to systemd service file installation?

I recalled that nyancat-server was a symlink just for reconf-inetd, so you can
stop shipping it. If you also stop shipping the reconf-inet fragments, then
reconf-inetd will remove its inetd.conf entries upon upgrading to the new
package (via a dpkg trigger, ie. you don't need to call anything on postinst,
in fact you should drop postinst altogether).

Here's a tested patch (not including dropping the postinst file, which is a
no-op for upgrading from wheezy onwards):

Thanks for the tested patch. Unfortunately, I won't be removing the
nyancat-server symlink, as this is still required for the systemd
socket/service files.

What are my options apart from manually removing reconf-inet's entries
from /etc/inetd.conf and restart inetd using invoke-rc.d?

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#748526: docker.io: Please provide /usr/bin/docker

2014-05-17 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: docker.io
Version: 0.11.1~dfsg1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi Paul/Tianon,

Would it be possible to provide a docker.io-compat package which
provides /usr/bin/docker as a symlink to /usr/bin/docker.io?
docker.io-compat would obviously have to confict with the existing
docker package.

I am increasingly finding myself having to either:
1) patch generic docker scripts, changing docker to docker.io
2) create an unmanaged symlink between docker and docker.io

It would be great to be able to resolve this through dpkg.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#747140: docker.io: unable to query docker version without user tracking

2014-05-05 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: docker.io
Version: 0.9.1~dfsg1-2
Severity: important

Hi Paul,

It appears that it is not possible to query the current docker version
without the client hitting https://get.docker.io/latest to find the
latest upstream version. This could (arguably) allow DotCloud to track
the usage habits of Debian users.

Given that this package is provided by Debian, this version check is not
appropriate. This has already been raised upstream as issue #4802 [1].

Perhaps the attached patch against current docker HEAD (afaab73) would
be appropriate?

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#746404: Fwd: Bug#746404: dtv-scan-tables: /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/fr-all file : invalid enum and no DVB-T services found

2014-04-29 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Hi Oliver,

Please find Debian bug report from fredboboss regarding
dtv-scan-tables below.

Thanks,
Jon

On Tue, 29 Apr 2014 19:50:57 +0200, fredboboss wrote:
 Package: dtv-scan-tables
 Version: 0+git20140326.cfc2975-1
 Severity: normal

 Dear Maintainer,

 Dear Debian Maintainer,

when performing a DVB-T frequency scan with the /usr/bin/scan utility
(dvb-apps package) and the /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/fr-All frequency file
(dtv-scan-tables packages) the following 2 problems occur :

 1) file parsing error :
 ERROR: invalid enum value '8MHZ'
 ERROR: invalid enum value '8K'

 2) in the end no DVB-T services are found with a Hauppauge NOVA-TD-500 DVB-T
 card.

Those problems seem to come from the /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/fr-All file.

The following changes are proposed in this file :

 For 1) :
 - 8MHZ changed by 8MHz
 - 8K changed by 8k

 For 2) :
 - change FEC_HI parameter by AUTO

Thus the 1st frequency line of the file would be changed like that :
 -T 47400 8MHZ 2/3 NONE QAM64 8K 1/32 NONE #Channel UHF 21
 +T 47400 8MHz AUTO NONE QAM64 8k 1/32 NONE #Channel UHF 21

(Please refer to the end of the mail for the complete modified file).

Thanks to those modifications I successfully performed a DVB-T scan with the
 NOVA TD-500 card.

In case more information is needed don't hesitate to contact me.

 Best regards,
 Fred

Thanks for your bug report. The scan files have been split out into a

bug report and reassigning it to d-s-t. I will take a closer look at
this before the next d-s-t upload.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I used an email address I don't check

makes sense. Thanks for testing it more thoroughly than I did. Also,
keyboardsetup() is using a similar method of usleep(1), which could be
 changed to usleep(1000).

More thoughts from doing a bit of research:

 1) There is a timeout() function (http://linux.die.net/man/3/timeout) which
allows you to specify how long getch() should block for; timeout(-1) is
nonblocking input and timeout(1000) is non-blocking input without having to
 call usleep.

 2) For the specific case of the ESCAPE key, ncurses will by default wait
for one full second before returning the ESC keypress to you. This is to
support inputting extended keys like the arrow keys by typing (say) the
full ESC [ A sequence (which corresponds to the up arrow key). If you
don't want this but do want the ESCAPE key to work with a very short delay,
just set the ESCDELAY environment variable:
 http://blog.rlucas.net/bugfix/curses_ui_escape_is_slow/
 http://en.chys.info/2009/09/esdelay-ncurses/

I think by setting ESCDELAY you could easily change keyboardsetup() and
getkey() to use blocking input, with the ESCAPE key still working. The only
other place the code calls getch() is in correlation.c, where extra user
input is discarded. You could implement that with timeout() or better yet
use the built-in ncurses function for that purpose, flushinp() [
 http://man.he.net/man3/flushinp].

If I have time this weekend I will write a patch for this, unless dettus
 beats me to it!

 Any update on this?

Ping? Any update on this?

Bug#733866: nyancat-server: drop reconf-inetd dependency

I see two alternatives. Either we leave nyancat on reconf-inetd (it does work
and in fact it's the only way to have both ip4 ipv6 entries, it's just that
it doesn't make much sense to keep reconf-inetd for just one package).

Alternatively, you can put in postinst update-inetd --multi --pattern nyancat
--remove telnet on the condition that the nyancat server package is being
upgraded from 1.2.2-1 (the latest version that uses reconf-inetd) *and*
inetd.conf has telnet entries exactly as they were shipped by that version.
That's more or less the example snippet at
http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep9/#index5h1 but adding the new entries with
 update-inetd (instead of reconf-inetd).

If you're okay with the latter idea, I'll send you a patch.

Given that you have already orphaned both reconf-inetd and update-inetd,
and nobody else has come forward, I think it would be best for nyancat
not to depend on either of them.

I have already created systemd service files for nyancat and sent them
upstream. I would like to use systemd on linux, with perhaps manual
instructions on !linux archs.

Can you please provide a tested patch to cleanly remove any existing
entries in /etc/inetd.conf prior to systemd service file installation?

Thanks,
Jon

Any update on this?

Indeed. Last month, Jonathan McCrohan prepared an update of
awesome-extra and I reviewed it, but I have not heard from him since
then, so I'm Cc'ing him to know if he has been able to work on it since
 then...

Its on my to-do list. I hope to get some time this weekend.

Arnaud, what is the current status of awesome 3.5? Can it be uploaded to
unstable yet?

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#734482: please drop versioned build-depends on pkg-config

Hi Andrew,

On 07/01/14 15:02, Andrew Shadura wrote:
Please change the versioned build-dependency on pkg-config on
unversioned one. There's no other pkg-config version apart from
0.26-1 even in stable, so this is not necessary anymore.

However, keeping this dependency versioned means pkgconf can't
provide pkg-config (as we have no versioned Provides), so
pkg-config is still required to satisfy the dependency.

Is pkgconf going to replace, or co-exist with pkg-config for jessie? In
other words, can this wait until the next libconfig upload?

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#733759: git-buildpackage: git-dch ignores gbp.conf if conf section is called [dch] rather than [git-dch]

2013-12-31 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.6.8
Severity: important

Hi Guido,

Under certain conditions, git-dch ignores the values set in gbp.conf. I
have attached a shell log used to replicate the issue. I use a single,
system-wide gbp.conf.

In my example, 'git-dch' ignores my config when the section is called
[dch], but 'gbp dch' works okay. Changing the section to the legacy
[git-dch] name allows both commands to work correctly.

Marking as important as I fear this may affect all of the legacy git-*
gbp commands.

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for filing this. Upstream doesn't include documentation or
installation rules for these, so splitting into two bugs to track work
 on each separately.

Please consider applying the attached patch to the next git upload. It
adds git-remote-hg support to git through the use of a git-hg package. I
tried to follow the style of the recent git-bzr package; feel free to
make any changes as required.

Thanks,

Hi,

gmusicbrowser 1.1.10 has been available for a couple of months now. I
see that initial work on this release is in the VCS. It would be great
if this work could be finished and a new package uploaded to Debian.

Thanks,

Thanks for your bug report. The scan files have been split out into a

bug report and reassigning it to d-s-t. I will take a closer look at
this before the next d-s-t upload.

/usr/share/dvb/dvb-c/de-KabelBW was updated (upsteam commit d913405) in
the most recent dtv-scan-tables package upload (0+git20130920.f61d5ec-1).

2013-09-18 Thread Jonathan McCrohan

Hi Pavel,

On 25/08/13 22:32, Pavel Mendl wrote:
 Package: dvb-apps

When I did run scan command using /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/cz-All table, some
channels that my ordinary TV did tune did not tune (even attempt to tune)
 on
the PC TV adapter. I traced issue to
the aforementioned table, which is (by commented header inside the table)
taken from public sources not directly under the CZ TV regulator's control. I
 found the official broadcast spectrum
regulation (as of August 2012 - currently valid) here
 http://www.ctu.cz/cs/download/plan-vyuziti-radioveho-spektra/rok_2012/pv-
 p_10-08_2012-11.pdf

It states on pages 9, 15-16 that all the channels 21-60 are allocated for
various DVB-T networks in the country. The aforementioned table cz-All did
include just some of them, what lead to
missing of some newly installed channels from the scanning.
 (Understandable,
DVB-T is still in the development phase in Czech republic and many spectrum
 allocations are still designated as
 testing or not-definitive.)

Attached is the new table I created, ensuring scan of all the channels
theoretically allocatable in Czech republic. Tested on my own comp it really
found channels consistent with the TV box scan,
 with no bugging.

The only part I am not sure about is the guard-interval where 1/4 and 1/8
values were irregularly mixed in the original table and no regulatory
guidelines are released. Based on the theoretical
assumption, that 1/8 should tune (i.e. not exclude) more channels than 1/4, I
entered 1/8 for all the channels. Should you have better experience or
regulatory resources on the topic, please,
 correct these values as appropriate.

I suggest to replace the cz-All table with my updated one in the next release.

Thanks for your mail. The scan files have been split out into a
separate package called dtv-scan-tables. Therefore I am reassigning it
to d-s-t. Oliver Schinagl (CC'd) is the upstream dtv-scan-tables
maintainer. I have reattached your cz-All-actual-2013 for his consideration.

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the bug report. This was expected; the scan files are being
split out from dvb-apps into a separate dtv-scan-tables package. I was
reluctant to make changes to dvb-apps because I didn't know how long
dtv-scan-tables would spend in the NEW queue.

dtv-scan-tables is in unstable now, so hope to fix up the dvb-apps
package in a few days when I return from holidays.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#721668: vmdebootstrap: Unable to create jessie/sid virtual machine images

2013-09-02 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: vmdebootstrap
Version: 0.1.0-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch upstream

Hi Neil,

First off, thanks for packaging vmdebootstrap. It looks really useful!

Would it be possible to update to a newer upstream snapshot? It appears
that because vmdebootstrap hardcodes the Linux package name as
linux-image-2.6-amd64, it is incapable of creating any images newer than
wheezy. Log attached.

It appears that Lars has already addressed this in upstream commit
7dba612.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#712005: irssi-scripts: twirssi depends on Twitter API V1.0

2013-06-11 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: irssi-scripts

Severity: important

Hi,

Twitter retired API v1.0 today [1]. As a result, the version of twirssi
included in stable/testing/unstable (v2.5.1) can no longer interact with
Twitter, and is useless.

Please update the twirssi script to v2.6.0, which adds support for API v1.1.

Thanks,
Jon

the changes upstream for everyone to use.

Also; it would be better to file a separate bugreport for each bug

Bug#697898: ITP: dtv-scan-tables -- Digital TV scan tables for the DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T, and ATSC standards

Description : Digital TV scan tables for the DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T,
and ATSC standards

Following discussions on linux-media [1], it was decided to split the
dvb-apps tree into one for actual DVB applications, and the other for
DVB and scan files. It is hoped that this will enable users to receive
more up-to-date DVB scan files, perhaps by providing updated versions of
this package via stable point releases.

This split will be coordinated with the current dvb-apps maintainers,
and I will also be maintaining this package as part of the Debian
pkg-vdr-dvb team too.

Hi Release Team,

Please unblock package figlet

figlet 2.2.5-2 contains two important fixes which ensure that the
debian/copyright file is up to date. 2.2.5-2 also contains two other
minor fixes, one of which has been in the git repository for some time,

Please let me know if these minor changes are not acceptable and I will
prepare a T-P-U version with only debian/copyright changes instead.

 Please fix the debian/copyright file.

Thanks for pointing this out. This issue is not an RC issue though, so
I'm going to downgrade it, and clone it as a separate issue to keep

The second issue is the most important one (and it gives the title
 to this bug report):

This license fails to meet the DFSG (#3 and #6) and is
GPL-incompatible, as discussed in the following old debian-legal
 thread:
 https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2006/01/msg00534.html

Please read that debian-legal thread, as it includes potentially
useful information on how some files copyrighted by Unicode Inc.
may perhaps get re-licensed under DFSG-free terms.

Please try to have those files re-licensed in a DFSG-free manner,
or, failing that, please drop them by re-packing the source
 orig.tar.gz archive.

The files in question have been sourced from here [1], and as such, have
already been relicensed under the Unicode Inc. Licence Agreement [2].
I'm going to also downgrade this, and I'll update the copyright file
with this licence in the next upload.

Thanks for your interest in FIGlet!

Bug#646608: vino: vnc-http webserver files missing

2012-11-13 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Hi Andreas,

On 12 November 2012 19:06, Andreas Henriksson andr...@fatal.se wrote:
A brief reply to the bug report you filed a long time ago...

Thanks, I had forgotten I had reported this bug.

The files for the vino vnc-http webserver on port 5800 are missing.
This results in the following .xsession errors:
 ** (vino-server:6762): WARNING **: Cannot locate
 /usr/share/vino/vino-client.html

This is not a file included/built/generated by the vino build system.

Looking briefly at the vino source it seems like it tries to
serve the files (if existing, in the following order):
 vino-client.jar
 vino-client.png
 vino-client.html

I guess this function is there to serve something the administrator
put in place (and not something shipped with vino).

I guess the warning could be toned down to not generate spew in the
 session error log.

In that case, downgrading the WARNING to an INFORMATION level message
might be the best course of action here. :-)

Bug#691924: uthash: New upstream release available

Package: uthash
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

uthash 1.9.7 is now available, which means that the uthash package is now
lagging upstream by two releases. Please consider packaging this and uploading
to experimental during the freeze.

Additionally, it might be useful to add a watchfile to keep track of new
releases.

Thanks,

As ddclient --help contains a lot of output, it would be far easier to read

Thanks for the clarification.

Particularly as the package in stable is in non-free I'm afraid I'm not
currently convinced that the proposed changes should be applied in
 stable.

That's fine by me. I only prepared the diff should the release team feel
an update was required. (IMHO the files in question aren't
copyrightable, but that's another issue).

I've had a look at your package, and I can see a number of

* Are you building the package in a clean chroot?

d/control: * Remove Vcs-Browser if you don't plan on using it.
* It comes with a manpage in the package description

* Multi-Arch: foreign - radeontop is not a -dev or

d/README.Debian:* This states that this tarball was packaged from

* If this tarball is actually 0.5.4.1, it should be

* If you do switch to using upstream tarballs, drop
  README.Debian totally.

d/copyright:* The GPLv3 license is indented by too many spaces.

d/rules:* Remove the dh_make boilerplate
* Is export debug=1 required for the build? If not,
  remove it.

Bug#680326: llvm-3.0: binNMU required

2012-07-04 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: llvm-3.0
Version: 3.0-9
Severity: serious

Hi,

llvm-3.0 needs a binNMU against current libraries. The current version fails to
compile the upstream ldc source. Rebuilding the llvm-3.0 package locally in a
clean sid chroot solves this, and allows ldc to be built.

See the issue I incorrectly opened upstream against ldc for more info [1].

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#680141: RFS: liblastfm/0.4.0~git20090710-2 [RC]

2012-07-03 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Hi John,

On 03/07/12 22:52, John Stamp wrote:
 * URL : http://mxcl.github.com/liblastfm/

This URL leads to a 404. This URL is also listed in the debian/copyright
file.

It was probably correct at one stage, but github have probably changed
the link format since the last liblastfm upload.

I assume it should be http://github.com/mxcl/liblastfm/ instead.

Bug#679516: qa.debian.org: PTS .dsc URLs use section from latest upload for all distributions

2012-06-29 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

The 'Versions' section in the PTS shows the version currently in each
distribution, and provides link to the corresponding .dsc file.

The .dsc URL appears to use the section field from the latest upload to
generate the URL for all the available .dsc files in all the distributions.

This leads to invalid links when a package changes sections, for example from
non-free to main. See the figlet PTS page [1] for an example:

oldstable 2.2.2-1
http://cdn.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/figlet/figlet_2.2.2-1.dsc
stable 2.2.2-1
http://cdn.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/figlet/figlet_2.2.2-1.dsc

unstable2.2.5-1
http://cdn.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/figlet/figlet_2.2.5-1.dsc

The oldstable and stable links point to 404s. Below is what I should expect to
see:

oldstable 2.2.2-1
http://cdn.debian.net/debian/pool/non-free/f/figlet/figlet_2.2.2-1.dsc

RC status.

1:1.2.7.dfsg-2 was the last version that built successfully on that

Bug#678534: gnome-dvb-client: Update list of countries with initial tuning data

2012-06-22 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: gnome-dvb-client
Version: 1:0.2.9-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

I added initial scan files for Ireland (ie) to dvb-apps upstream. These are now
available in Debian as of linuxtv-dvb-apps 1.1.1+rev1483-1.

Please consider backporting commit 6cd0071d0ffa9a4c4b018c6e2b24911826539a1e
from upstream, which would allow users to use these files, along with Brazilian
(br) files too.

Obviously this will be fixed in gnome-dvb-daemon 0.2.10, but I doubt it will be
released before the wheezy freeze.

Thanks,
Jon

While I got replies from the release team, I don't think I got any

If a sponsor is needed for the stable update, please give me a ping.

Thanks, I'll get back to you about that.

Bug#677172: override: libconfig8-dev:oldlibs/extra, libconfig++8-dev:oldlibs/extra

2012-06-11 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

src:libconfig transitioned from libconfig8 to libconfig9, and the -dev packages
have been renamed from libconfig(++)8-dev to libconfig(++)-dev. The override
file needs to be updated for these transitional packages.

Thanks,
Jon

---
There were override disparities found in suite unstable:

libconfig8-dev: Override says libdevel - optional, .deb says oldlibs - extra
libconfig++8-dev: Override says libdevel - optional, .deb says oldlibs -
extra

Bug#676577: qa.debian.org: transparent anti-alias favicon

2012-06-07 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hi qa-team,

The favicon for qa.d.o [1] uses white anti-aliasing. This is different to the
favicon for www.d.o [2], which uses transparent anti-aliasing, and is more
aesthetically pleasing to users who uses dark themes.

It would be great to have a consistent favicon across all d.o websites.

Thanks,
Jon

Package: pastebinit
Version: 1.3-3
Followup-For: Bug #673311

Hi Rolf,

pastebinit 1.3.1 [1] has been released which fixes the pastebin API issue. It
would be great to have this version in Debian.

Thanks,
Jon

Bug#673600: RFS: nyancat/1.0+git20120519.5fe3de9-1

2012-06-05 Thread Jonathan McCrohan
On 05/06/12 22:28, Jakub Wilk wrote:
 Is this the desired outcome?

No. AFAICT this is because the new entries are pointing to
/usr/bin/nyancat-server rather than /usr/bin/nyancat which makes
reconf-inetd believe that they are not related.

[background]
/usr/bin/nyancat-server is a symlink to /usr/bin/nyancat. It is
required because reconf-inetd will not remove entries if the server path
still exists when being removed/purged.

The /usr/bin/nyancat-server symlink allows nyancat-server to still
provide seamless nyancat server setup/removal through the use of the
package manager.

Shouldn't the last entry be disabled? How do inetd servers behave if
there are multiple entries for the same service?

I've added the three lines you provided in your last mail to my
inetd.conf file and restarted my inetd server and it works fine even
though there are conflicting services.

The modified entry is still served (probably because nyancat
nyancat-server lexicographically), so I don't see any harm in this,
especially given the very low popularity of this package.

This condition is always true (also: not very portable). You want this
 instead:

 if fgrep -q -x ... || fgrep -q -x ...; then

Thanks for catching this. Another version uploaded with a revised
postinst which is based on the updated DEP-9 example.

Well given that these exact files are already in main, I don't think
this matters, unless of course we want to move parts of xorg or
syslinux to from the archive...?

In any case, the solution is simple: invoke reconf-inetd right after

That is a simple solution, thanks.

On a different topic, nyancat/1.0+git20120519.5fe3de9-1 checks for only a
 specific release:

 if [ $2 = 0.1+git20120401.5a88b86-1 ]; then

whereas ideally it'd take action on any release less than or equal to that.
(perhaps that's not relevant to nyancat, but it'd be nice to get it right,
because I suspect that other maintainers will copy from it)

I think you might have checked an older version; The latest version
contains the following check:
if dpkg --compare-versions $2 lt 1.0+git20120523.99dc310-1; then

Thanks for the comments; I'll upload a new version which forces a
reconf-inetd update in a few minutes.

Thanks,
Jon
