Bug#712999: linux-image-3.9-1-amd64: Unable to find LVM volume

2013-07-14 Thread Jose Luis Salas
I was hit by this bug upgrading the kernel image to anyone higher than 3.7.

I tried with both 3.8 and 3.9 linux kernel images but it drops into a shell
before rootfs gets mounted. I got by this bug adding 'rootdelay=1' option
into grub cmdline also.

In a subshell I run ./scripts/local-top/mdadm and then ./scripts/local-top/lvm2
and the LVM volumes got detected properly. To continue the boot process I
exited ht shell and the boot process continued fine.

Bug#682609: collectd-core: Python writer plugins send wrong data

2012-07-24 Thread Jose Luis Salas
Package: collectd-core
Version: 4.10.1-1+squeeze2
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream patch

Python would receive bad values for certain data sets. The bug would typically
manifest as data values appearing to be 0.

Previously, the code only looked at the first element of a data set
to determine which value type (GAUGE, COUNTER, etc) to dispatch. If your data
set consisted of multiple values of different types, then the Python write
plugin was receiving bad values for the elements at position n 0 whose type
was not the same as that at position 0.

It would also be interesting to hear how a ...-amd64 kernel behaves,

The laptop has no AMD64 extensions in the cpu.

Ok, great. After testing, please send a summary of the problem to
 linux-ker...@vger.kernel.org, cc-ing John Stultz johns...@us.ibm.com
and Thomas Gleixner t...@linutronix.de[1], plus either me or this bug
log so we can track it.

 The summary should mention:

  - steps to reliably reproduce the problem
  - which versions reproduce the problem
  - full dmesg output from booting up and exhibiting the problem
  - that a 2.6.26-based kernel worked fine, but you don't have quick
access to a system with such a kernel to look into it from that end
  - that clocksource=jiffies makes everything work again
  - what happens with clocksource=hpet and clocksource=tsc
  - any other weird observations
  - the page http://bugs.debian.org/583363, in case the reader wants

Ok, thanks.

Thanks again for your work, and hope that helps.

You are right, bittorrent downloading without adding the clocksource option
reproduces it.

Bug#583363: linux-image-2.6.32-3-686: Network hangs with network activity and date freezes

2011-08-30 Thread Jose Luis Salas
Hi there!

I've upgraded my laptop and I'm testing the following debian package:
- linux-image-3.0.0-1-686-pae3.0.0-3

The first impression is the clocksource problem is apparently fixed, but the
system is unstable. The first problem is a high resource comsumption with
nfs-kernel-server ( 1:1.2.4-1 ) :

Linux 3.0.0-1-686-pae (tomberi) 30/08/11_i686_ (1 CPU)

This happens with clocksource=acpi_pm ( the default ) and jiffies on the
Linux 3.0 kernel. Now, finished copying files the system is at the same load
with the nsfd using nearly at 100%:

 1369 root 20 0 000 R 10.6 0.0 1:54.41 nfsd

 1374 root 20 0 000 R 10.6 0.0 2:19.37 nfsd

With 2.6.32 and the jiffies option, the system load while copying files is
the folliwing:

2010-08-26 Thread Jose Luis Salas Carrascosa
I think that the bug is caused by changes in the clocksource between kernels
and the powernow-k8 module.

One time I tested booting the xen flavour of the linux kernel ( the

Now, I boot the kernel with the clocksource=jiffies option and the

and the notebook is less hot, and me happier.

Thanks.

Network hangs with network activy and if I press a key of the computer
the network resumes its activity. While the net is frozen the date of
the computer is frozen too.

I have tested linux kernels 2.6.30, 2.6.32 , 2.6.33 and 2.6.34 with no
luck, these kernels come from debian tree. With debian kernel 2.6.26
there is no problem and everything works great.

I tested noapic, noacpi and several switches with no luck.

Thanks.

Network hangs with network activy and if I press a key of the computer
the network resumes its activity. While the net is frozen the date of
 the computer is frozen too.

 Weird...

I saw this in your kernel log:

This indicates bug #548090, which is fixed in package version 2.6.32-13.
This is not obviously related to the problem you are reporting, but
please do update to the latest version and check whether it still
 occurs.

 Ben.

Bug#564807: xserver-xorg-video-intel: display corruption and white screen with KMS

2010-01-13 Thread Jose Luis Salas Carrascosa
This happens to me and my HW is mostly the same. The problem occurs with
2.6.32 and KMS enabled. When X starts then some glitches appears in the
screen in both X server and TTYs.

With 2.6.31 or less it only shows a black screen when X starts, and the
system input locks. The following errors are displayed to output:

.../../../libdrm/intel/intel_bufmgr_gem.c:825: Error setting to CPU
domain 91: Input/output error
.../../../libdrm/intel/intel_bufmgr_gem.c:899: Error setting domain
72: Input/output error

It is related with dbug #558237, but X starts with screen corruption.

Bug#498287: [linux-2.6] Interface not working

2009-07-28 Thread Jose Luis Salas Carrascosa
No, it doesn't occur with newer kernel versions.

Thanks.

The network adapter in MOBO D945GCLF crashes the driver and don't load.
 In
some system starts loads and it prints:

  Sep 8 19:52:41 cactilio kernel: [ 15.987789] r8169: eth0: link up
  Sep 8 19:52:41 cactilio kernel: [ 15.987789] r8169: eth0: link up

If it don't load I try to reboots as times as it don't load.

Here is the lspci and the backtrace.

Does this error still occur with more recent kernel versions?

 Cheers,
 Moritz
