Bug#824426: FTBFS against libical2

2016-05-19 Thread Justus-dev
I just tried Tino's 1.5.1 packages, and they appear to work flawlessly,
solving the problem I reported above
(https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=824426#17).

Many thanks,
Justus

Bug#824426: syncevolution quits with SIGABRT

2016-05-16 Thread Justus-dev
Hi -

Syncevolution now quits, before producing any console output, with a
SIGABRT. This apparently happens since I upgraded evolution and
associated libraries to 3.18.5.1-1+b1 this morning, the only change
being "Rebuild against libical2". It seems to me that this may well be
related to this bug, syncevolution now being incompatible with the rest
of the evolution ecosystem.

The sync log file ends with the lines:

  [2016-05-16 18:58:50.120] stderr: syncevolution:
/tmp/buildd/libical-1.0.1/src/libical/icalarray.c:146:

Here are the last few lines of "syncevolution --daemon=no" under strace:

Bug#652870: evolution 3.8 CalDav requires gnome-keyring

2013-12-23 Thread Justus-dev
Dear Maintainers,

In evolution 3.8 (current testing), CalDav calendars do not work at all
without gnome-keyring; no password prompt is shown, and connection
attempts hang and eventually time out, without a useful error message.
The HTTP error message sent by the CalDav server is 401 Unauthorized.

In evolution 3.4.4 (wheezy), CalDav calendars worked fine without
gnome-keyring.

I'm not sure gnome-keyring should be a hard dependency because evolution
is useful without gnome-keyring (or CalDav calendars), but gnome-keyring
should at least be Suggested or Recommended to guide users towards a
solution.

More to the point, Upstream should take care that evolution output
useful diagnostics and recommendations.

Oh, and I'm not sure installing gnome-keyring is really the only way to
solve this CalDav authentication problem; maybe there are alternative
solutions.

Thanks,
Justus

Bug#654994: python-evolution: Cannot use evolution.ebook without bonobo bindings installed

2012-01-07 Thread justus-dev
Package: python-evolution
Version: 2.32.0-4+b2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

import evolution

results in evolution.ebook = None. To investigate, I removed the
try...execpt around the import ebook in
/usr/share/pyshared/gtk-2.0/evolution/__init.py, which resulted in:
ImportError: No module named bonobo

This is fixed by installing python-gnome2.

Thus, one fix is to have python-evolution require python-gnome2.
However, I do not know in what way evolution depends on bonobo, so
perhaps a better fix is to relax this dependency.
