Bug#707680: proftpd-basic: mod_tls_memcache/0.1 unable to register 'memcache' SSL session cache
It’s a notice, not even a warning and not a bug at all. In order to solve this simply go to /etc/proftpd/modules.conf and comment the line that says LoadModule mod_tls_memcache.c by putting the # in front of it, then restart your proftpd by typing /etc/init.d/proftpd restart and your bug will disappear. This merely means that your proftpd was compiled without memcache support. Let me repeat that it’s just a notice as it says, not even a warning, and it’s definitely not a bug at all. It will work perfectly fine with the notice always present on proftpd restarts. However, if you prefer cleaner solutions you may have to consider re-compiling your proftpd with –enable-memcache configure option and your bug will also disappear. Good Luck! Regards, Dennis.
Bug#747122: closed by Willi Mann wi...@debian.org (nothing fixable)
Hello, Yes, indeed it does not have much to do with Debian. I re-adjusted the code and re-developed some parts of Logwatch itself to suit my personal needs as the original version of Logwatch installed on Debian Wheezy from packages reported a lot of useless gibberish and wasted pretty much of room consuming junk, plus I slightly changed its design to make it easier / more convenient to read. Good luck. Regards, Dennis. Bug#743872: spamassassin: sa-update error when run by cron.daily task
Hello there, I have absolutely identical problem as if you copy-pasted it from my logs. Now I have simply manually changed this new directory 3.003002 to -- chown to debian-spamd.debian-spamd /var/lib/spamaassassin/3.003002 -- and I am done and it all flew back into life by running my daily crons correctly. However, this is quite new and interesting to find out that doing a manual sa-update as root changes this directory’s permissions, user and group. This is like wow! Since everybody speaks about moral here then my 5 cents about the moral of all this is that it has to be changed by all means in my opinion. They have to choose a method and stick to that method and then accordingly and adequately reflect it in documentation. Let’s say deny sa-update by root and hard code it to be run by debian-spamd only as this is safer (I guess) and then simplify it by telling the one who runs the update right on the command line how to do it correctly if tried to run as root. The other way around approach with two existing options is fine with me as well as long as they (options) are clearly and extensively documented and do not cause any problems if run by either root or debain-spamd. I think this is also easily achievable by doing so in code. Good luck to all. Regards, Dennis.
Bug#747122: Logwatch dovecot deliver bug
Package: Logwatch Hello there, I refer to the bug described in the following URL https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=571163 It says the fix is downloadable from here http://pkg-logwatch.alioth.debian.org/apt/pool/main/l/logwatch/logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85-1~4.gbp6ad10f_all.deb However, the above link with the fix is broken and does not exist, HTTP 404 not found. Although the index of packages exists here OK https://pkg-logwatch.alioth.debian.org/apt/pool/main/l/logwatch/ but the package in question is missing. Then later on is says that it is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive to: main/l/logwatch/logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85-1.debian.tar.gz main/l/logwatch/logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85-1.dsc main/l/logwatch/logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85-1_all.deb main/l/logwatch/logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85.orig.tar.gz I have checked the archives on Debian FTP servers and none of those exists either. I couldn’t have by any chances searched the wrong Debian FTP servers could I? ftp.debian.com, ftp.debian.org, achieve.org? Would anybody please, advise where do I now download the package from in order to fix the problem as the issue still exists in Debian Wheezy (7.0) combined with Logwatch 7.4.0 and Dovecot 2.1.7? Would appreciate any other suggestions at all on how to get rid of ‘unmatched entries’ of the logwatch-dovecot lda bug in Wheezy. Although Unix users without this dovecot deliver option works fine, that is when there aren’t any virtual boxes / users. Many thanks in advance! Regards, Dennis.
