Bug#521752: Cannot start evolution after sqlite transition - Segmentation fault

2009-03-29 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: evolution
Version: 2.24.5-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrade from 2.22.3.1-1 to 2.24.5-2, evolution was saying about
transitioning mailbox summaries into sqlite. But then it said Segmentation
fault. It is the same for all my (2) local users.

It wrotes this (in C locale):
$ LANG=C evolution

I strace -f it, here are last 10 lines:

I installed evolution-dbg version, but I do not know how to use it. I tried gdb
evolution, and it wrote:

It was resolved for me the same way as in the bug above - by downgrading
libsqlite to 3.5.9.

Bug#518256: cups: HW margins in PPD file are ignored - top first cm not printed

2009-03-04 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: cups
Version: 1.3.9-14
Severity: important

Hi,

after upgrading last week, printed pages have lost top first cm, and there is a
large space at the bottom too.
After searching on net, I found LP bug similar to my problem:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/282186
and it seems the problem is in pstopdf script.

If I use the pstopdf from the bug above (final link -
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19430834/pstopdf ), than it works correctly for
me.

Steps to reproduce:
- have installed some real PPD (I have HP OfficeJet R65) in CUPS
- print a test page to PDF through CUPS, it shows printable area:
  /usr/sbin/cupsfilter -m application/vnd.cups-pdf -p /etc/cups/ppd/R65.ppd
/usr/share/cups/data/testprint.ps test1.pdf

- after some checking, I realized, that the paper size is taken from
/etc/papersize and PPD is ignored. This is not corect.

I run more scenarios:
1) original pstopdf
  echo letter /etc/papersize
  In output, there was:

 Imageable Area
 Page Size: 8.5x11.0in 215.9x279.4mm
 Lower-Left: 0.0x0.0in 0.0x0.0mm
 Upper-Right: 8.5x11.0in 215.9x279.4mm

  I.e. PPD was ignored.

2) original pstopdf
   echo a4 /etc/papersize
   In output, there was:

  Imageable Area
  Page Size: 8.26x11.7in 209.9x297.1mm
  Lower-Left: 0.0x0.0in 0.0x0.0mm
  Upper-Right: 8.26x11.7in 209.9x297.1mm

   I.e. PPD was ignored.

3) after I replaced pstopdf from the link above, I had correct results:
   echo letter /etc/papersize
   # yes, even with letter it reads correctly PPD: A4 with real margins

  Imageable Area
  Page Size: 7.99x11.07in 203.0x281.2mm
  Lower-Left: 0.14x0.5in 3.4x12.7mm
  Upper-Right: 8.13x11.57in 206.5x293.9mm

I.e. PPD was used correctly for paper size and margins.

It seems, that this was already fixed in cups 1.3.9-3, but now in 1.3.9-14 it
is again here. Why is it back?

Workaround for me: use pstopdf from the link above.

Regards,
Lada

P.S.
It is really important bug, mainly for my wife :-)

Bug#502847: netpbm: pnmtojpeg cannot handle EXIF from Nikon D40, extracted by jpegtopnm

2008-10-20 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: netpbm
Version: 2:10.0-12
Severity: important

pnmtojpeg crashes with message:
pnmtojpeg: Unable to allocate -4 bytes for exif header buffer
when I want to resize my photos from Nikon D40. When I was using my script for
photos from Panasonic, all went OK, and the script was working.

The script is resizing photo, and keeping EXIF info. It's like following:
=
#! /bin/sh

in=1020-075634.jpg
exif=tmp.exif
pnm=tmp.pnm
jpegtopnm -exif=$exif $in | pnmscale 0.5 $pnm
pnmtojpeg --quality=90 --exif=$exif $pnm
=
The photo is attached.

When I'm trying to to transfer the EXIF using exiftool, then if works normally.
So it seem, that EXIF is OK, bug the pnmtojpeg cannot read it correctly, or
jpegtopnm cannot write it correctly.

Can you look at it?

Thanks.
Lada

Hi,

it seems, that quicktime (MOV) is still not supported in Kino.

Do you know how could I add support MOV in kino again. I have some DV
records in MOV (recorded in kino some time ago), and I would like to
work with them.

Thanks.

Bug#392806: Quicktime is offered in current kino

2008-05-07 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: kino
Followup-For: Bug #392806

I follow up my previous comment - I was wrong, that this bug is still
there. Now I think that the bug is no longer valid (at least for
sid). MOV files work in current kino version.

Background:

I just mounted my DV data to a different directory, and the SMIL
file was with absolute paths, and then happends, that my MOVs
were not loaded.

But when I removed the paths from SMIL file, the MOV files were loaded
correctly.

I think, you can close this bug.

Thanks.

Bug#472703: wdm: Sometimes I cannot login, Enter doesn't work

2008-03-25 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: wdm
Version: 1.28-2.3
Severity: important

Hi,

sometimes I cannot log in using Wdm, I can write only Login name but I
cannot get to a password field - Enter doesn't work.

As a workaround, I must to Zap (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) and try again. And
after few times - 4x for example, it works. What a magic!

I use WindowMaker, if this info helps.

I can paste some messages from syslog if they make sense:
Mar 25 21:01:21 edc wdm: /etc/X11/wdm/Xresources_0: line 1:
/etc/X11/wdm/Xresources_0: Permission denied
Mar 25 21:01:21 edc wdm: /etc/X11/wdm/Xresources_0: line 2: syntax error near
unexpected token `newline'
Mar 25 21:01:21 edc wdm: /etc/X11/wdm/Xresources_0: line 2: `!'
Mar 25 21:01:21 edc wdm: Cannot open config file. Using builtin defaults

I would like to add that I didn't touch anything in /etc/X11/wdm...

What else should I check?

Lada

Bug#458403: mc: Internal 'cd' cannot go to dir with spaces, inserted by ^X^P

2007-12-30 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: mc
Version: 1:4.6.1-8
Severity: important

Hi,

mc cannot go to the directory which is pasted to command line by ^XP or
^X^P shortcuts (which paste current directory).

How to reproduce:
cd /tmp; mkdir '1 1'
- then in mc go there, and type 'cd ^XP', it will write:
cd /tmp/1\ 1/
- then mc writes red error:
'
Cannot chdir to /tmp/1\ 1/
No such file or directory (2)
'

But the command in normal shell works:
cd /tmp/1\ 1/;echo $?
0

I tried write it in mc without the escape \ character and it works:
cd /tmp/1 1

The mc internal 'cd' command, used under the blue pannels, is not unescaping
'\' character correctly. It seems that the shell evaluation is not working
correctly. It is not behaving as standard unix commandline.

Could you fix it?

Thanks.

Bug#438794: drupal5: DB is not created, dbconfig files are missing, Drupal page full of errors

2007-08-19 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: drupal5
Version: 5.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I wanted to try drupal5 for first time, and it doesn't work.

HTML page /drupal5 gives me errors:
==
Warning: Table 'drupal5.access' doesn't exist query: SELECT CASE WHEN
status=1 THEN 0 ELSE 1 END FROM access WHERE type = 'host' AND
LOWER('127.0.0.1') LIKE LOWER(mask) ORDER BY status DESC LIMIT 0, 1 in

/usr/share/drupal5/includes/database.mysql.inc:172) in

and over 20 others.

I can see that MySQL tables are not created:
# ls -l /var/lib/mysql/drupal5
celkem 4
-rw-rw 1 mysql mysql 65 2007-08-18 22:21 db.opt

It could be caused by missing files for dbconfig:
$ dpkg -L drupal5|grep dbconfig
/usr/share/dbconfig-common
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal5
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal5/install

For drupal-4.7, there were files mysql and pgsql there:
$ dpkg -L drupal-4.7|grep dbconfig
/usr/share/dbconfig-common
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal-4.7
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal-4.7/install
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal-4.7/install/mysql
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/drupal-4.7/install/pgsql

I'm beginner with Drupal, but I want to start using the current version
(drupal5), which currently I can't. Can you help me?

Thanks.

Bug#382320: qiv: Zoom should be multiplicative, not additive

2006-08-10 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: qiv
Version: 2.0-4.2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I want to improve zoom experience. Now is zoom (+) unusable for large
zooms.

Details:

Now qiv is using additive zooming, like:

100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150,... %

This is not comfortable for larger zooms, because of 2 things:
1) zoom difference is decreasing with increased zoom.

   Example:
   Difference between 240 and 250 % is only 4%
(240-250/250), and this difference is still decreasing with
   increased zoom factor.

2) each zoom step takes some amount of time, and it is unusable
and when I want some large zoom.

   Example:
If I want 800 % zoom, and each zoom step takes 1 second, it would take
   me over 1 minute ( (800-100)/10=70 s ), because I have to do 60 zoom
steps. (Moreover with increased zoom factor, the time increases too,
so the time could be much larger).

Solution:

I propose to use multiplicative zoom. And I even suggest to use some
larger factor of zoom, than 1,1 (10 %).

I maybe suggest factor of 2, so the zooms would be:

100, 200, 400, 800,... %

Maybe, this factor is to large, so we add zooms in the middle, so
factor can be sqrt(2)=1.414

100, 141.4, 200, 282.8, 400, 565.7, 800,... %

For more precise zooms (but I think that they are not needed in
practice), we can use something like 2^(1/3), or 2^(1/4) etc...

What do you think?

Lada Dobias

Bug#360859: evolution: Starting gnome-theme-manager helps me until X-restart

2006-04-12 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: evolution
Version: 2.4.2.1-2
Followup-For: Bug #360859

Hi,

I have the same problem with icons in Evolution (and also one icon is
missing in Galeon, so it is not a Evolution bug).

I just want to report, that only starting gnome-theme-manager helps me
with icons (and it also changes fonts of Evolution :-( ),
but until I restart X. Then it is again the same.

What should I do? Downgrade the gnome-icon-theme?

Thanks.

Regards,
Lada Dobias

Bug#360811: latex2html: Credits page (About this document...) contains broken URL link

2006-04-04 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: latex2html
Version: 2002-2-1-20050114-4
Severity: minor

Hi,

in each document created by latex2html, there is a page About this
documnent... which contains link to original author Nikos Drakos, which
is now broken:

It should be fixed or removed, I think. It gives us errors in

Thanks.

Bug#354213: minimalist: Empty Subject is wrongly parsed - it adds (eats) next header line

2006-02-24 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: minimalist
Version: 2.5.2-1
Severity: important

When a message comes with empty Subject (i.e. /^Subject:$/), then
minimalist adds (eats) next header line to Subject line.

This can be fatal for MIME messages. In that case, MIME information is
corrupted, and these messages are rendered unreadable in some mailers, like
Pine.

Example INPUT:
==
Subject:
Mime-Version: 1.0

Example OUTPUT:
===
Subject: [some-list] Mime-Version: 1.0

This is very annoying.

Bug#309733: exim: Missing library libsasl.so.7

2005-05-23 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Hello,

On Fri, 20 May 2005, Steve Langasek wrote:

The problem is that exim is linked to libsasl.so.7, which is
not available. And it is not used, anyway. It should be
  removed from exim binary...

No, it is not linked to libsasl.so.7. No packages in unstable or testing
 are.
This problem is bug #309485, which is caused by orphaned library files left
behind on some users' systems by some unidentified process.

Yes, you were right. I have to apologize. I've done 2 things
at once, and probably, the ldconfig wasn't already done when
I've run ldd `which exim`...

So you can close the bug. Thanks.

Please send us the output of ls -l /usr/lib/libldap* on your system, so that
we can figure out why the fix for #309485 in libldap 2.1.30-8 didn't fix
 this for you.

Fix in libldap works for me, so this is no longer needed.

Sorry, again.

Lada Dobias

Bug#309733: exim: Missing library libsasl.so.7

2005-05-19 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: exim
Version: 3.36-17
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Exit cannot be started, it says:
exim: error while loading shared libraries: libsasl.so.7: cannot open shared

It breaks everything that uses mail, and moreover, mail cannot be
delivered to the system (data loss after few days).

/lib/ld-linux.so.2 = /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fea000)

It seems there is a missing dependency to libsasl7, which was removed.
The exim package should be probably rebuilt with libsasl2 or so.

Bug#297160: scribus: Hard space can't be written in Edit text... editor

2005-02-27 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: scribus
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

hard space (Ctrl-Space) cannot be written in Edit text... editor.
This is not good. I want to write them here ;-)

Workaround: Hard space can be written in WYSIWYG mode (which is
very very slow now).

Regards,
Lada Dobias

Bug#297164: scribus: Hard (non-breakable) space doesn't work after - (dash)

2005-02-27 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: scribus
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

non-breakable space can be broken after a - (dash), for example in
this case:
  20,-nbspKc
The dash is left on the end of the current line, and Kc is on the
next line - non-breakable space is broken... This is bad.

Lada Dobias

Bug#291192: tcm: tatd don't draw frames after entering a comment

2005-01-19 Thread Ladislav Dobias
Package: tcm
Version: 2.20+TSQD-1
Severity: normal

When running tatd, frames around actions are drawn correctly.
Then I insert a comment field, it is still OK.
But after then, no frames around all action state, inactive
state, decision and note nodes are not drawn.

Workaround: save a file, close tatd, open it again and it
works again.

Lada Dobias
