Laurent. what puzzles me is that they use ECM 6.4.4 too, and don't seem to patch it... but still get a different result! I haven't tried SAGE's version of ecm, but I can't reproduce your result on my machine (amd64) using your code. The ecm binary has a distinct error code for I found the input number, which it correctly returns for me when it founds 1 as a factor of 1. I don't think the library function has such a distinction, so you could argue that returning success when finding a non-proper factor is correct, but I think that's something that should be reported to upstream to clarify the documentation. Bug#713399: [Ecm-discuss] Test failure for 6.4.2
Hello, On Mon, Jul 8, 2013 at 1:32 AM, Alexander Kruppa akru...@gmail.com wrote: Actually, the fix is intended to resolve this problem. We use internal functions of GMP (mpn_redc_[12](), among others) for numbers of a certain sizes, but these two functions changed semantics between GMP 5.0 and 5.1. The failed test case you reported is the first test case that uses an input number in the range where mpn_redc_1() is used, so it triggers the error. The easiest fix is to use the current GMP-ECM release, 6.4.4, which uses mpn_redc_[12] correctly with both GMP 5.0.x and GMP 5.1.x. If you have to stick with 6.4.2 for some reason, you could use GMP 5.0.x, or if that is not possible, manually comment out #define HAVE___GMPN_REDC_1 1 #define HAVE___GMPN_REDC_2 1 in GMP-ECM's config.h file. Thanks for clearing that up! I guess the only thing left for me to do here is package 6.4.4. Laurent.

Bug#690276: gmp-ecm: please make Conflicts against ecm versioned
Hello, * Jonathan Nieder [Thu, Oct 11, 2012 at 03:35:32PM -0700]: gmp-ecm conflicts with ecm because historically they both provided ecm commands (bug#580548). Now that cmdpack ecm has been renamed to ecm-compress, gmp-ecm and ecm are coinstallable and the conflict can be made versioned. Policy explains: | However, normally the presence of an earlier than version clause | is a sign that Breaks should have been used instead. An earlier | than version clause in Conflicts prevents dpkg from upgrading or | installing the package which declares such a conflict until the | upgrade or removal of the conflicted-with package has been | completed, which is a strong restriction. so the patch below switches to a Breaks+Replaces. Seems to work ok. Thoughts? Thanks for your patch. gmp-ecm should use a Breaks clause with the ecm package. I'm not sure about Replaces. It's not like the ecm binary provided by the gmp-ecm package provides any similar functionality to the one provided by the ecm package. What problem does the addition of the Replace line solve? Package: mpfr4 Version: 3.1.0-1 Severity: serious Justification: fails to build from source The package failed to build on sparc: https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=mpfr4arch=sparcver=3.1.0-1stamp=1317713686 This is reproducible with unmodified upstream sources, and a workaround is to add --disable-thread-safe to the configure line (I don't find that satisfactory). Bug#643134: gmp-ecm: FTBFS: dpkg-buildpackage: error: dpkg-source -b gmp-ecm-6.3 gave error exit status 2
Hello, * Didier Raboud [Mon, Sep 26, 2011 at 10:33:30PM +0200]: This error is due to recent dpkg changes “dpkg-source -b” on a “2.0” or “3.0 (quilt)” source package will fail if it detects upstream changes which are not managed by a quilt patch. [0] Thanks for reporting. I'm not convinced by this change in behaviour, but I'll fix in nonetheless. Bug#642298: libloudmouth1-0: Can't specify user-trusted certificates
Package: libloudmouth1-0 Version: 1.4.3-7 Severity: wishlist Hello, In Debian, loudmouth is compiled with GnuTLS support and a hard-coded root CA certificate file, which is the system file /etc/ssl/certificates.crt. There is AFAICT no provision to let the user manually trust a certificate when first seen, or to have a user-specified directory of trusted cert files (as the SSL_CERT_DIR environment variable is used in OpenSSL). The net result is that the official workaround suggested in mcabber's documentation when using a self-signed certificate is to skip certificates validation entirely. Hello, * Arno Töll [Wed, Sep 07, 2011 at 02:54:59PM +0200]: while triaging your problem, I discovered it is (probably) not related to Lighttpd, but to cowbuilder you seem to be using. I can't reproduce it with a plain pbuilder, but I can by using cowbuilder. Indeed, I am using cowbuilder. I attached two build logs, one uses a clean, up to date Sid chroot in pure pbuilder which works fine, and the corresponding cowbuilder problem which produces similar build failures than yours. Thank you for your investigation. I'm merely a cowbuilder user, so I'll leave it to the cowbuilder experts for now. That will cause xscreensaver to dump a `core' file to the current directory. Please include the stack trace from that core file in your bug report. *DO NOT* mail the core file itself! That won't work. A log.txt file will also be written. Please *do* include the complete log.txt file with your bug report. http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/bugs.html explains how to create the most useful bug reports, and how to examine core files. Bug#603159: debian-installer: Network console login is installer
* Samuel Thibault [Tue, Nov 16, 2010 at 08:52:19PM +0100]: Err, then for coherency we should put such links in all the preseed sections to their main body counterparts. Maybe. My point is, this feature is currently not documented at all in §B.4.3 and appears under §6.3.8, Miscellaneous. It deserves better cross-linking. This is not the only section under §B.4 where you get merely the example configuration snippet. I think my patch is an improvement, but consistency is nice too :-) Laurent. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Package: debian-installer Severity: wishlist Hello, The login to use for the network console of the installer is installer. This is TTBOMK not mentioned in the installer's documentation or in the example preseed file. GRUB displays fine, I pick Default install. After the ramdisk and kernel are loaded, I can see briefly about half a page of kernel information, but the remainder of the kernel boot messages are shrunk to a single line. The boot proceeds to the first install dialog, which is unreadable, see: http://imgur.com/u5dLql0aTCB?full Here are the results of my experimentations on this machine: - I changed grub's display mode, to see if the use of gfxterm was the root cause of the problem. Setting output_terminal text does not solve the problem. - I installed FreeBSD 8.1 (no problem encountered) to see if FreeBSD's kernel was unable to use my graphic card properly, but the dispaly is fine. - I tried to install using a serial console, but it failed (I can get grub's I/O on the serial console, but not the install process). Is it feasible? - I tried to cheat and boot FreeBSD's kernel as it is on my disk to bypass the kernel used in mini.iso, but I get a kernel panic. My guess is that kfreebsd's kernel in the install images differs from upstream in such a way that it no longer supports my graphic card properly. Graphics are provided by an onboard VIA chip, I'll provide more information about it later. Bug#595782: gcc-4.4: wrong conversion from unsigned int to float on sparc
Package: gcc-4.4 Version: 4.4.4-11 Severity: normal Hello, The present bugreport is a followup to #593193 and a regression wrt 4.3. Steps to reproduce: (sid)smetana:~/gcc-4.4/gmp-ecm-6.3$ cat bug.c #include stdio.h int main() { unsigned int t = 254733465; float f; f = (float) t; printf (t=%u f=%.0f\n, t, f); } (sid)smetana:~/gcc-4.4/gmp-ecm-6.3$ gcc-4.4 bug.c; ./a.out t=254733465 f=482062944 (sid)smetana:~/gcc-4.4/gmp-ecm-6.3$ gcc-4.3 bug.c; ./a.out t=254733465 f=254733472 The correct result is the second one, since the closest single precision float (24-bit significand) from 254733465 is 254733472. Bug#593193: gmp-ecm: FTBFS on sparc: Assertion failed during tests
Hello, * Mehdi Dogguy [Mon, Aug 16, 2010 at 08:18:16AM +0200]: Your package gmp-ecm/6.3-2 fails to build from source on sparc: [...] The full build log can be found at: https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=gmp-ecmarch=sparcver=6.3-2stamp=1281775571file=logas=raw Thank you for the report. I can reproduce it on smetana.d.o in the sid chroot, using the default compiler (gcc-4.4.5), pristine upstream source compiled with ./configure CFLAGS=-O0 -ggdb make make check However, the package builds fine using gcc-4.3 so it could be a compiler issue. I'll look into it next week, but help would be appreciated. The problematic C file is pm1fs2.c according to the abort message, and comparison of the assembly files for each compiler does not help me (I don't grok sparc assembly). Bug#580398: ecm and gmp-ecm: error when trying to install together
Hello, * Ralf Treinen [Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 10:34:38AM +0200]: this bug still exists in squeeze since we still have gmp-ecm/6.2-1 in squeeze. Migration of 6.3-3 to squeeze is currently blocked by #593193. Maybe a separate bug fix of #580398 (through testing-proposed-updates?) would be in order to fix this bug in squeeze? I kind of hoped to have the build failure fixed on sparc... I'll see how to upload to t-p-u.
