Bug#552527: virt-manager: Menu shortcuts unusable in french due to ligatures used

 Hi,

I second this request as menu shortcuts are unusable in french due to
the usage of stylistic ligatures[1]. One cannot type this kind of
keyboard shortcut even with the french dvorak layout named bépo, which
 includes lots of typographic symbols.

I attach a screenshot where we can see the word afficher with the
 ffi ligature underlined.

 [1] : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typographic_ligature#Stylistic_ligatures

The keyboard accelerator is on the character i and not on ffi. I don't know
why the ffi characters of Afficher are shown as a stylistic ligature since
they are standalone characters but I'm working on the upstream french
translation to fix that issue.

Bug#610825: Add configuration for fail2ban plugin

2012-01-15 Thread Laurent Léonard
Le dimanche 15 janvier 2012 12:05:22, Marc Haber a écrit :
Will this fix the entire bug report or only the fail2ban part?

It only concerns the fail2ban part.

Apache support is now working out of the box with all Munin versions from
stable to experimental.

MySQL support is still not working out of the box with all Munin version from
stable to experimental. The problem comes from the missing perl dependency
Cache::Cache that is needed by the MySQL plugins. libcache-cache-perl is
already a suggested package for munin-node but should be IMHO a dependency
or at least a recommended package.

Would it be possible to configure the fail2ban server to accept
 fail2ban-client connections from a non-root user?

No, fail2ban-client needs root permissions to communicate through the Fail2ban
UNIX socket.

Can you verify that your issues are still present in the munin plugins
that can be obtained from Debian experimental?

Still present.

Thank you,

Bug#512439: Multi-file VMDKs are not supported by qemu-img

2010-09-09 Thread Laurent Léonard
virt-convert uses qemu-img (or kvm-img) to convert disk images. Converting
VMDK and sparse VMDK files works fine, but multi-file VMDKs are currently not
supported by qemu-img.

You can find the following comment related to the qemu_convert() function in
/usr/share/pyshared/virtconv/diskcfg.py:
Use qemu-img to convert the given disk. Note that at least some
version of qemu-img cannot handle multi-file VMDKs, so this can
easily go wrong.
Gentoo, Debian, and Ubuntu (potentially others) install kvm-img
with kvm and qemu-img with qemu. Both would work.

You can convert a multi-file VMDK into a monolithic VMDK using the following
command line:
vmware-vdiskmanager -r source.vmdk -t 0 destination.vmdk

Bug#588739: QEMU 0.12.5 is out

2010-08-10 Thread Laurent Léonard
I made further tests and I can confirm the issue is not fixed in 0.12.5.

I currently use a patch written by Bruce Rogers from Novell that applies
directly on 0.12 branch. It probably isn't the best way to fix the problem, but
it works. Could you take a look at it ?

Thank you,
--
Laurent Léonard
When specifying ide devices using -device, the cmos information
which the bios depends on is not written. This patch generalizes
the cmos hd data setting for the existing code path and adds the
ability to call that code on a per machine, per ide drive basis.

I needed to add an id to the IDEBus structure since there wasn't
a way to identify whether an ide bus was primary or secondary in
the lower level code.

Also, the ide bus naming wasn't working right for isa, so we now
explicitly pass in the name for the isa case.

I noticed libvirt only crashed at the first connection with Virt-manager. If I
start libvirt again and try to reconnect it works. I can confirm all Debian

  Hi

Please add dmidecode to Build-Depends so the package only gets built on
  architectures where it is available.

virt-what is usable without dmidecode. Current git reflects this
  properly already.

Ok, so you made sure it only recommends dmidecode?

I'm not sure adding dmidecode as Recommends is the right way because all the
supported virtualisation technologies supports x86 guests, so dmidecode is
*required* to detect *all* the virtualisation technologies on x86
architectures.

Other architectures (unsupported by dmidecode) are supported by virtualisation
technologies that doesn't need dmidecode to be detected by the guest (except
perhaps UML for which I recently introduced support upstream).

There is no ideal solution, but I think that's the best one.

virt-what 1.1-1 is uninstallable on alpha, armel, hppa, mips, powerpc, s390

available for those architectures. The issue will be fixed in the next

Bug#543810: [Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] Bug#543810: Uninstallable on quite some arches due to missing dependency

2009-08-27 Thread Laurent Léonard
The issue is already fixed on Git :
http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-libvirt/virt-what.git;a=commitdiff;h=a331023e759b38e0d0b39b84147ea076f6fd2968

I didn't restrict the available architectures for virt-what because the script
can work correctly on other architectures without dmidecode. So I restricted
the dependency on dmidecode.

I made a removal bug report for the uninstallable binary packages (#543942).

2009-08-09 Thread Laurent Léonard
Hi,

Debian packages for virt-what 1.1 are available here:

deb http://pkg-libvirt.alioth.debian.org/packages unstable/amd64/
deb http://pkg-libvirt.alioth.debian.org/packages unstable/i386/

I also added 2 patches for UML and VirtualBox support for the next release
(should be integrated upstream). You can find it on Git if you want to test:

- UML support: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-libvirt/virt-
what.git;a=commitdiff;h=ec6c9a07748ee7c2f265d0d59f6ec8afba95c4ee

- VirtualBox support: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-libvirt/virt-
what.git;a=commitdiff;h=e6a8c93356a1fe1e0326ac12224df9611df065b3

It would be appreciated if the ITP'er could convey this to

OK I will forward that piece of information to upstream. Could you please fill
in a wishlist bug report about that ?

Some doubt always exists; the environment could be lying. Someone might
run UML under VMWare under Mac OS X, if that's not too ridiculous.
Which host would you like to know about?

Some virtualisation systems can be used into virtualised environments, but the
guest is isolated and gets hardware informations from the host that manages
it directly. For example if you have a host with UML in a VMWare guest, the
UML guest gets the hardware informations given by the UML host. The UML guest
has no way to be aware of the UML host virtualisation.

Something to think about eventually might be nested virtualization, a la
Blue Pill. (Not something to worry about right now, though.)

What about VirtualBox, assuming it survives Oracle? (Maybe it will; the
OSE version is GPL, is it not?)

Not tested yet, but if you do it you can fill in a wishlist bug report and
give the informations you got about the virtualised environment.

Thank you,

Scaling doesn't work with KWin when composite stuff are enabled. Tested
  with mozilla-virt-viewer and mozilla-vnc-viewer.

This affects mozilla-gtk-vnc or libgtk-vnc-1.0.0. From your description
it seems it only affects the browser plugin? Does scaling work in
 virt-viewer/virt-manager?

It only affects Mozilla plugins (mozilla-gtk-vnc and mozilla-virt-viewer),
scaling in Virt-manager works great with KWin.

A network Virtio driver is available for Windows 2000, XP and Vista (and I
successfully tested it in Windows Server 2003 and Windows 7 too) but there is
no support for it in Windows variants from the OS dictionary. Using a Virtio

I'm using some Windows XP KVM virtual machines installed with the Microsoft
Windows 2003 variant (with ACPI and APIC enabled) and it works great for
months ago. When I shut down the virtual machine from the libvirt the virtual
machine correctly shuts down so ACPI is correctly supported. I don't know why
ACPI and APIC were disabled for Windows XP but I think Windows XP and Windows

Bug#512773: This bug report should be reassigned to virt-manager

2009-06-09 Thread Laurent Léonard
This bug report should be reassigned to virt-manager.

Virt-manager is currently able to create non-sparse images from the Add a
Storage Volume dialog that can be accessed with the New Volume button in
the storage pools manager (Host details dialog) or in the storage pools
browser (Add hardware wizard). If Max Capacity and Allocation field have
the same value it creates a non-sparse image. It uses a volume class from
virtinst.Storage.

The New VM wizard and the Add hardware wizard still use
virtinst.VirtualDisk which is buggy for non-sparse image creation so I think
it should be adapted to use virtinst.Storage instead.

b) Another solution, for system supporting udev, is to create a file

 KERNEL==ttyS1, GROUP=nut

Since Lenny the udev rules file relative to the permissions is

the proposed name for the udev rules file for serial UPS should be adapted.

Bug#529075: [dtc-common] There is no run directory for saslauthd in the DTC generated configuration

The following lines are added in /etc/default/saslauthd by the DTC
  install script :

  # Configured by DTC v0.20 : Please don't touch this line !
  START=yes
  OPTIONS=-r -c
  # End of DTC configuration v0.20 : Please don't touch this line !

The OPTIONS variable should include a run directory for saslauthd so the
  line should be :
  OPTIONS=-r -c -m /var/run/saslauthd
because saslauthd doesn't start and complains about the missing option.

 Hi,

This has been corrected in our Git version a long time ago. You can
upgrade to it if you like. We have planned to release the new version
quite soon, which has so many improvements. You can have a look at our
 gitweb if you like:

 http://git.gplhost.com/gitweb/?p=dtc.git;a=summary

Note also that the current stable version edits /etc/fstab to add
something for sasl, which is really bad. I was not the one writing it,
and I regret that I didn't see it. This was removed from Git too.

Thanks a lot for this bug report. I'll tag this bug as pending.

 Thomas

Perhaps it could be interesting to backport some fixes like that into a new
revision of the 0.29.17 Debian package ? I prefer to use verified and stable
Debian packages than a development repository...

Bug#528454: [virtinst] Unable to detect the host keymap with Xorg 7.4

2009-05-12 Thread Laurent Léonard
Package: virtinst
Version: 0.400.3-2
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Virtinst is unable to detect the host keymap since Xorg 7.4 automatically
detect everything. The configuration file /etc/X11/xorg.conf, which is used by
Virtinst (util.py) is new empty by default.

Here is the debugging message when I try to add a new graphical console (VNC)
:
[mer, 13 mai 2009 01:41:27 virt-manager 4541] DEBUG (util:370) Could not open
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard [Errno 2] Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type:

[mer, 13 mai 2009 01:41:27 virt-manager 4541] DEBUG (util:353) Didn't find
keymap in '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'!
[mer, 13 mai 2009 01:41:27 virt-manager 4541] DEBUG (util:390) Did not parse
any usable keymapping.

Xorg 7.4 now uses console-setup to define the keymap, so I think
/etc/default/console-setup should be used instead of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

could you check if the attache patch does any good? If you don't want to
rebuild you can simply remove the tow lines from

The problem seems to be fixed with this patch.

Bug#517998: [live-helper] Could not find kernel image issue with syslinux bootloader

2009-03-03 Thread Laurent Léonard
Package: live-helper
Version: 1.0.4-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
The Could not find kernel image issue with syslinux bootloader seems to be
back in 1.0.4 (see the FAQ :
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianLive/FAQ#head-372e07aeb2de0b77cad20aaad65d2ab8d681886f).

This hook is not needed with 1.0.2 and 1.0.3, so I suppose it's a regression
bug... And even with the hook it doesn't seem to work.

what binary images are you building? pxe netboot was not yet updated to
build syslinux menu configuration files; everything else works. if
you're using something different than pxe, i suspect a bug or
 missconfiguration on your side.

I build an USB disk image. Since I have upgraded to 1.0.4 I have this problem,
now I downgraded to 1.0.3 and it works again...

i can confirm that usb-hdd with 1.0.4 does work flawlessly which means
there is a missconfiguration on your side. please follow the manual[0]
and provide the necessary information, including config directory.
otherwise we are not able to help you.

Here is the command I used to generate the configuration (with Live-helper
1.0.3) :
lh_config -a amd64 -b usb-hdd -d lenny -m http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian -p
standard-x11 --bootappend-live locale=fr_BE.UTF-8 keyb=be --debian-installer

l10n-fr kdelibs4c2a lighttpd ntfsprogs ocsinventory-agent partimage smbfs
xnetcardconfig zenity

I juste regenerated it with lh_config from Live-helper 1.0.4 and now it works,
the difference is the default value of LH_SYSLINUX_MENU. It was disabled by
default in 1.0.3 and now it is enabled by default.

I prefer to have a menu for Syslinux but, when LH_SYSLINUX_MENU is disabled (I
think it is not a missconfiguration), it should work too.

Bug#514476: [tightvncserver] Some wrong keys on Virt-manager

2009-02-07 Thread Laurent Léonard
Package: tightvncserver
Version: 1.3.9-4
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I'm using an fr-be keyboard, if I try to key in ²é'(§è!çà)- in a virtual
machine in Virt-manager (VNC window), I get this: ²1é3'5§è8çà°-. Some keys
seems to be forced to uppercase. Other keys seems to be OK.

I have no problem when I try:
- to access a virtual machine in Virt-manager through an X session
- to access a virtual machine in Virt-manager through a VNC session with
x11vnc
- to use an other application

Same problem with vnc4server.

In comparison, if we make a diff of the fr keymaps, we can see there is

The same keys that are not working correctly... I don't know the reason of
this, but if I replace the KVM fr-be keymap by the rdesktop one it works
great. I tested it with Virt-manager and TightVNC VNC viewers.

After replacing the fr-be keymap file, the key @ (at) doesn't works more with
KVM version 72+dfsg-4, but this problem is related to the bug #504821 and is
fixed in the version 83+dfsg-1.

The fr-be keymap in Qemu is the same, so I suppose there is the same bug in
Qemu.

When a smart card is inserted in my smart card reader and the GTK-based

Here is the output I get from the application when it accesses the

Bug#512773: [virt-manager] Unable to create a non-sparse image file from the VM creation wizard

2009-01-23 Thread Laurent Léonard
Package: virt-manager
Version: 0.6.0-6
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
The VM creation wizard is unable to create a non-sparse image file, even if the
checkbox Allocate entire virtual disk now? is checked (default state). The
problem comes from the virtinst package, in the file /usr/share/python-
support/virtinst/virtinst/VirtualDisk.py, line 342-348 :
if self.sparse:
alloc = 0
else:
#alloc = cap
# XXX: disable setting managed storage as nonsparse
# XXX: since it hoses libvirtd (for now)
alloc = 0

The storage pool manager is able to create non-sparse image file if we specify
the same size for capacity and allocation in the dialog box.

Does setting alloc = 1 work for you?
  -- Guido

cap = capacity size
alloc = allocation size

So to have a non-sparse image, alloc should have the same value as cap.
But in the current version of virtinst, the line alloc = cap is commented
out and replaced by alloc = 0, so the behaviour is the same as an sparse
image file, but I don't know the reason of this (I don't understand the
comment)...

If I put alloc = cap back, the non-sparse image file is correctly created
when Allocate entire virtual disk now? is checked, but I get the following
error message at the end of the VM creation wizard :

Impossible de finir l'installation : « Couldn't create storage

I suppose the image creation method is different in the storage pool manager
