Changes since the last upload:

   sqldeveloper-package (0.5.0) unstable; urgency=low

 * Since SQL Developer v4.1, Oracle has started to include i386 and amd64
shared libraries in NetBeans Platform modules. Due to this, converted
make-sqldeveloper-package to both generate multiple packages and to be
   Multi-Arch compatible:
   - Added Multi-Arch dependencies
   - Added cross-packaging functionality
   - Rewrote a large portion of make-sqldeveloper-package to deal with the
 additional logic
   - Rearranged the debian/* files to support multiple packages
   - Generated packages recommend each other (libraries and SQL Developer)
   - Added a new command line option "-s|--skip-libraries" to skip building
 the shared libraries package(s)
 * Multiple versions can now coexist, "sqldeveloper.[upstream version]" will
invoke a specific version of Oracle SQL Developer while "sqldeveloper"
takes advantage of Debian's alternatives system and, when left in auto
mode, will always invoke the highest version installed
 * Exposed Oracle CLI for SQL Developer, a non-gui interface for
scripting or
headless control of Oracle SQL Developer. Following the multiple versions
coexistence concept, "sdcli.[upstream version]" and "sdcli"
will behave as
   described above
 * Since SQL Developer v4.2, Oracle started to bundle Oracle SQL Developer
Command-Line (SQLcl) with Oracle SQL Developer. When available, and as an
alternative to the standalone package (see "sqlcl-package"),
make-sqldeveloper-package will expose it. Since there is a name conflict
with content of package "parallel", the upstream binary "sql" will be
renamed, and following the above multiple versions coexistence concept,
"sql.[upstream version].bundled" will invoke a specific SQLcl version
while "sqlcl.bundled" takes advantage of Debian's alternatives
system and,
when left in auto mode, will always invoke the highest bundled version
installed, and "sqlcl" will invoke the highest version installed (either
standalone or bundled, in this order)
 * Added a new command line option "-x|--extract-only" to prepare a build
tree without building package(s) (this option implies "-k|--keep-dir")
 * Added descriptive header, detailed progress output and stdout/stderr
selection according to the type of message
 * Added a new command line option "-q|--quiet" to suppress normal output
 * Fixed the long time broken command line option "-i|--install" which was
not finding the correct package name
 * Synchronized code between sqldeveloper-package and sqlcl-package
 * Updated sqldeveloper package description to reflect Oracle's site
 * Fixed some small typos in the machine readable copyright file "License:"
   section creation
 * Fixed lintian warnings and errors:
   - possible-documentation-but-no-doc-base-registration
   - desktop-entry-lacks-keywords-entry
 * Silenced all lintian warnings and errors that are upstream originated and
   impossible to fix
 * Tested against v4.x and v17.x release families of SQL Developer
 * Bumped version to reflect functionality

Bug#880411: sqldeveloper-package version forking

2017-11-19 Thread Lazarus Long
Hi.

First let me thank Adam for the sponsorship.

I've already had manually closed the LP #, and just closed #693798 also.

Didn't think about tagging #868673 until Phil's suggestion, thank you
very much for it (your suggested way of adding the tag didn't work for
me, had to do it the documented way of mailing control).

(BTW, I'm in the process of getting 0.5.0 ready in a week or two, it's
a major revamp, due to Oracle including shared libraries in SQL
Developer 4.1 which aren't being used in Debian due to their location)

Bug#882115: ITP: sqlcl-package -- Oracle SQL Developer Command-Line Debian package builder

2017-11-18 Thread Lazarus Long
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Lazarus Long

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

* Package name: sqlcl-package
  Version : 0.1.0
  Upstream Author : Lazarus Long
* URL : https://lazarusllong.github.io/sqlcl-package/
* License : GPL-3+
  Programming Lang: shell script
Description : Oracle SQL Developer Command-Line Debian package builder

This utility makes it possible to build a Debian package from Oracle SQL
Developer Command-Line (SQLcl). The Oracle SQL Developer program is
governed by the copyright holder (Oracle USA, Inc.), so you may be
limited as to what you can do with the resulting package (i.e. no
redistribution, etc). This utility will simply help you create the
Debian package, it is your responsibility to use the resulting package
accordingly with the OTN license, a copy of which is included in the
created package, that you must agree on when downloading the source.

This utility will require you to download the architecture independent
archive from <http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sqlcl/overview>,
identified as "Oracle SQL Developer Command-Line for All Platforms", to
create the Debian package from.

Due to a conflicting name with content of package "parallel" the
upstream binary "sql" will be renamed. Multiple versions can coexist so
"sql.[upstream version]" will invoke a specific version of Oracle SQL
Developer Command-Line, while "sqlcl" (the recommended way) and
"sql.standalone" take advantage of Debian's alternatives system and,
when left in auto mode, will always invoke the highest version installed.

 - why is this package useful/relevant?

It's the way to permit integrating sqlcl (which falls in category
2.2.3 of the Debian Policy Manual) in a Debian system. Most DBAs use
SQL*Plus, and/or it's java based portable parent SQLcl, to interact with
Oracle Database, hence the potential high number of interested users.

 - is it a dependency for another package?

Yes. It builds the sqlcl.deb package.

 - do you use it?

   Yes.

 - if there are other packages providing similar functionality, how
   does it compare?

There is no other package providing similar functionality, neverless,
sqldeveloper-package will build a sqldeveloper.deb which has similar
funcionalities to the sqlcl.deb package that this wrapper builds,
however it has a higher level of requirements (i.e. a full JDK
instead of simply a JRE) and isn't suited for servers or low end
machines due to it's graphical nature.

 - how do you plan to maintain it?

I'm the upstream author and it's a native package, it'll maintain
itself. Please note that I've created another ITP (#882113)
regarding packaging sqlcl just to avoid duplication of effort by
someone else. This package will close both ITPs (I know it's weird
and unusual, but the nature of this kind pf packages is prone to
   this specific situation).

 - are you looking for co-maintainers?

   No.

 - do you need a sponsor?

   Yes.

Thank you very much,

Bug#880411: Subject: RFS: sqldeveloper-package/0.4.4

2017-11-18 Thread Lazarus Long
The NMU is for a version from Nov 2012. After that I've had 0.3.0 for over
5 years before the specific bug has been created.

The bug was fixed in version 0.4.0 (where one can find it's
acknowledgement). I'm not sure if or how my log should or could include the
NMU entry. If I put it in version order the patch is removed in the
immediate version and the NMU is 5 years newer than the following version,
if I put it in date order the NMU version is out of sequence and impossible
to patch in-between the previous and the following ones.

The fact is that the NMU became a fork of an older version, that is out of,
and irrelevant for, my timeline.

Bug#882113: ITP: sqlcl -- Oracle SQL Developer Command-Line

2017-11-18 Thread Lazarus Long

* Package name: sqlcl
  Version : 17.3.0
Upstream Author : Oracle USA, Inc.
<https://www.oracle.com/corporate/contact/index.html>
* URL :
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sqlcl/overview/
* License : Proprietary
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : Oracle SQL Developer Command-Line

Oracle SQL Developer Command Line (SQLcl) is a free command line
interface for Oracle Database. It allows you to interactively or batch
execute SQL and PL/SQL. SQLcl provides in-line editing, statement
completion, and command recall for a feature-rich experience, all while
also supporting your previously written SQL*Plus scripts.

 - why is this package useful/relevant?

It is a SQL*Plus (mostly) equivalent with the advantage of reduced
requirements, dependencies and increased architecture compatibility.
It offers a standard and classical interface to Oracle Database that
every DBA knows and is used to.

 - is it a dependency for another package?

   No.

 - do you use it?

   Yes, on a daily basis.

 - if there are other packages providing similar functionality, how
   does it compare?

sqldeveloper (a package created by a package wrapper:
sqldeveloper-package) is a graphical application that is fully
compatible to this one, however it has a higher level of
requirements (i.e. a full JDK instead of simply a JRE) and isn't
suited for servers or low end machines due to it's graphical nature.
sqlline is a similar command line package, lacking the degree of
specific SQL*Plus and Oracle Database compatibility that this one
   presents.

 - how do you plan to maintain it?

I don't intend to package it directly. I'm only opening this ITP to
avoid duplication of effort by someone else. What I intend to do is
create a package wrapper that in turn will create this package,
making it possible to include that one in Debian (this one falls in
category 2.2.3 of the Debian Policy Manual). I have the intention to
have that package close this ITP, so no loose end will remain.

 - do you need a sponsor?

   No.

Bug#698573: sqldeveloper-package: Typo in package description: "http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/sql/"

2017-10-31 Thread Lazarus Long
Hi.

This bug is both a duplicate of bug #618650, closed two years before
this one, and it is being reported against the version that
specifically fixed it.

I think it may be closed.

I've uploaded v0.2.4, that only addresses the bugs and updates
documentation, in what I think complies with freeze directives.

The changelog is:

* Addressed bugs for inclusion in Wheezy's freeze:
  - Replaced dos2unix with tofrodos (LP: #560803,#626272) (Closes: #568982)
(Reported by Seth Rosenblum)
  - Split grep for shell script (LP: #985810,#998610) (Closes: #692534)
(Reported by Bruno Medeiros and patch by Brad Powell)
  - Download links updated (Closes: #618650)
(Reported by Sergio Fernandez)
* Fixed JDK dependencies for pre and post SQL Developer v2
* Updated documentation regarding above changes
* Updated OTN license information to current version
* Tested against v2.x and v3.x release families of SQL Developer
* Bumped version to reflect functionality

I would like to know if this is OK.

Thank you very much,

Bug#692534: Fails to build sqldeveloper package with "chmod: missing operand after `755'"

2012-11-15 Thread Lazarus Long
Hi:

I've uploaded another package to debian-mentors (v0.2.4) that only
addresses the bugs reported in hope it will be accepted in Wheezy, but
I haven't got any feedback yet.

The main difference between a sqldeveloper-package generated deb and a
RPM converted one is compliance with Debian standards, namely location
and integration. From the SQL Developer application pure point of view
either will work.

Ciao, Salvatore:

I wasn't aware of the Wheezy freeze in progress.

The 0.3.0 version I've uploaded to Mentors is my current running
script, that I've been testing and modifying since my last upload in
2009,

Beside the obvious need to address the RCs, the changes it contains
are required since otherwise:
- unaware users wouldn't be able to:find the package to download due
to dead links;
- an old deprecated license agreement would be accompanying the
package instead of a current valid one;
- old and unavailable methods to get a compatible JDK would be tried and failed;

These seem not so important for users that are already using the
package, and know what the changes Oracle introduced in the last two
years, but for new users it would be stressing and an incentive to not
using it, supposing it is flawed (and in it's current state it is).

Beside the above changes all others are related to addressing lintian
and QA warnings or errors and compliance to standards, not in the
script itself.

The large difference between this version and the previous is due to
the peculiar fact that the script is also a generator of a
"debianized" package, so in order to the generated package to be
standard compliant and error free the script has to be edited and the
above mentioned changes (mainly the license, which is about a third of
the size of the script), placed inside it.

I hope I explained my idea, if you feel it's not applicable, please
let me know so we can try to find a way to do it right.

Thank you and regards,

Yes, I realize that, but this is an uncommon situation where a GPL
package is being developed to generate a non-free one.

Similar to the game-data-packager, googleearth-package, java-package and
vmware-package, I developed sqldeveloper-package which lives on
<http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/contrib/s/sqldeveloper-package>.

sqldeveloper-package is GPL and it fulfills requirements to belong to
main (I classified it as contrib, because all other packages of its sort
are in contrib), and its purpose is to generate a local installable SQL
Developer package.

Since someone might decide to try either a similar or other approach
this ITP is just to avoid duplication of efforts. I believe that
sqldeveloper-package, if ever accepted, should close this ITP, since
it's its purpose.

Oracle SQL Developer is a free graphical tool that enhances productivity and
simplifies database development tasks. With SQL Developer, you can browse
database objects, run SQL statements and SQL scripts, and edit and debug
PL/SQL statements. You can also run any number of provided reports, as well
as create and save your own. You can connect to and migrate 3rd party
databases to an Oracle database.

Oracle SQL Developer is a Java application and requires a full Java SDK. The
minimum JDK you should use is 1.5.0_06. If you use JDK1.6 (JDK6.0), the
minimum you should use is JDK1.6 Update 3. Oracle SQL Developer does not work
with JDK 1.6 Update 1 and 2.

Bug#504268: sa-learn-cyrus: doesn't deal well with SQL based SpamAssassin

Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash

The script doesn't deal well with SpamAssassin when this one is configured to
store AWL and Bayesian rules in SQL containers.

Attached is a patch with some minor changes to make it work without complaints.

The main changes are that it won't die if 'bayes_path' isn't defined and it
will pass 'sa:user' on the '--username=' parameter to 'sa-learn', which makes
'sa:user' have a different meaning with SQL than with BDB. A reorder of the
parameters passed to 'sa-learn' was also done.

It may benefit with better error checking, especially if 'bayes_path' isn't
defined but SQL isn't configured as the storage for SpamAssassin, and the dual
meaning of 'sa:user' should be documented in the configuration file or a new
option should be defined to allow loading AWL and Bayesian rules to a single
user ('amavis' should be the default) on the SQL database.

Also some pointers to the configuration of SpamAssassin for SQL would ease the
usage of this package in those circunstances, for instance a reference to
.

Bug#175940: pop it twice a day for a bigger sway

2008-02-24 Thread lazarus laura
Pop this twice a day to increase your lenght and girth considerably. if your
lady tells you that size is of no importance, she is lying to you. studies
clearly show that the intimate life of couples whose man has a smaller one is a
lot less active than their counterparts who have big sizes. So think about it
again.
