Bug#591962: Swf sources are actually the wave files

2010-08-25 Thread Lincoln de Sousa

Hello there,

Stefan, the upstream author, answered my email asking about swf source
files. He said that, as written in the AUTHORS file, all swf files were
taken from Gabber (that is GPL'ed) and partially converted.

He also said that hi does not remember which tool he has used. But with
a quick search through the internet, I've fount the wave2swf program
that seems to be exactly what we want. The problem: It's not packaged
to debian.

Adding the original wav files to jwchat source is enough to close this
bug?

ps.: I had no time to work on the html5 version yet :(

Cheers,

hello there,

I didn't find the .fla files (flash sources) in the upstream
repository. I think we can follow three different paths to solve
this little inconvenient:

 * Remove .swf files in debian package and create the regression
   of don't play any sound.

 * Contact the upstream and wait for the better :)

 * Write a patch to use html5 Audio object instead of
   damned flash files.

I'm including Stefan's (our great upstream author) email in this answer,
let's wait for his answer about fla files but I'll try to work on
the html5 patch in parallel.

Doing some tests here nothing seems to be different, neither google,

This is good to hear. Maybe we should just change the Chrome/ to
Chromium/ and see if anyone screams.

Humm, I can keep looking for any other unwanted side effect.

Or maybe it would be good to fix all sites that care and just declare

   Mozilla/8.0

Not a way to go at all =P

I disagree: once the sites are fixed, this is the right way to go.

There is no good reason for web pages to require detailed information
about the browser with each request. Not even statistics gathering ---
javascript is a better tool for that.

Thanks for this explanation, now I think I get your point. I do
believe that we can work to improve sites that we can but my concern
is in the sites that we can't fix.

There has been some discussion recently on the downsides of sending
too much information about a client to web servers:

   http://panopticlick.eff.org/browser-uniqueness.pdf

Very nice reference, thanks!

(don't think it is actually interesting in this discussion =P)

I didn’t mean it as a workaround but as a development tool.

Again, now I got what you say =D

Forgive me for being dense, but why is this a bug?

I found that it is a bug because we have two different packages to
things I imagine that are two different browsers: Chrome and Chromium.

As a user I don't want to say that I'm using chrome, that's not free
and I don't want to spread its name throught the world =P

As a developer of web sites, I need to know which features each of
these two different browsers have. The following page shows some of
them:

  http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/ChromiumBrowserVsGoogleChrome

Discovering which feature a browser have by its user agent is not the
only (neither) the best way, anyway.

Maybe it would be helpful for debugging and statistics gathering to
add information about the Debian revision, like this:

  Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like
 Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.38 (Debian-5.0.375.38-r46659-2) Safari/533.4

The main reason to file this bug was think about the statistics saying
that I'm using a browser that I'm not =/.

Maybe adding the debian version would be a good idea too.

People that changes the user agent string by hand usually know what
they want. For example, there was a web site of a bank of my country
(Brazil) that didn't work very well with free browsers, but was nice
with iPhone. Some webkit users started to send the iPhone browser's
user agent string to be able to use the bank site.

(don't think it is actually interesting in this discussion =P)

I want to help to maintain both packages but if you want to do it too,
it would be better to integrate these packages to the debian games

2008-11-11 Thread Lincoln de Sousa
I had the same problem and I started to investigate.

I got the libgnutls26 source package with apt-get source and just recompilied
it, after that I did the following:

$ export LD_PRELOAD=lib/.libs/libgnutls.so.26
$ mutt

and everything worked. weird, isn't it?

Which libgnutls26 source package did you retrieve? Are you sure it was
the same version? If it was the same version, maybe the build was
 corrupt?

I think I did something wrong, after purging and installing

Bug#501050: Bat taste

2008-10-03 Thread Lincoln de Sousa
Don't worry about that fonts, it is not actually a bug but just bad
taste of the developers =)

I'm going to change the default font to the monospace or to the gnome
default monospace font soon in the upstream.

Sorry for that =)

Not exactly. I am moving the content of /etc/guake/ into /usr/share/
 which makes:
 $ dpkg -S guake.schemas
 guake: /usr/share/gconf/schemas/guake.schemas
The problem was the calling to gconf.
I think the package is now ready for upload!
Really nice, thank you very much =)

Btw, I sent you the localization in French months ago. Did you received
 it ?
No, did you send to the bug tracker? I can't find it there. Can you send me
again?

Cheers,

So we're almost ready to rock =)

This problem happens when schema is not installed properly and

Bug#490672: a possible solution

2008-07-14 Thread Lincoln de Sousa
Hey,

I was having some issues in the following call inside postint:

$basedir/bin/java -client -Xshare:dump (line 71)

when running manually, I got the following warning:

Loading classes to share ... OpenJDK Core VM warning:
The permanent generation is not large enough to preload requested
classes.
Use -XX:PermSize= to increase the initial size of the permanent
generation.

To fix that, I passed -XX:PermSize=268435456

Bug#476578: Bug hunting =)

2008-07-03 Thread Lincoln de Sousa
Hi,

Trying to reproduce this error, I wrote the following script:

?php
print idn_to_ascii (mãe.org, iso-8859-1) . br /;
print idn_to_ascii (çãéíóúáćñêâîõÔú.org, utf-8);
?

I used ab to run it with the following command:

$ /usr/sbin/ab -c 300 -n 1 http://localhost/~lincoln/x.php

I tryied with things like -n 1000 and nothing happens.

And bug didn't rise. Can you provide more information, like the script
that breaks, the encoding being used, etc?

Cheers.
