Bug#772624: dmesg output

2015-05-09 Thread Martin Vlk
Hi, I would like to try to investigate this issue further and possibly
fix it, but don't know where to start.

Could anyone give me some directions and answer subsequent questions?

Many Thanks

Bug#781118: [slime] Purging the package leaves behind a confguration file causing problems for local slime installation

2015-04-30 Thread Martin Vlk
Hi Milan,
I tried installing slime again and curiously, it doesn't install that
file (/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50slime.el) at all. That of course means I
can't test purging it either.

Not sure what that means now - is the file no longer used by the package?

Martin

I can't reproduce the bug -- whatever I do the file disappears after
purge. On both wheezy and current sid.

Can you still experience the bug?

Yes I think it's a kernel issue. (Well, it may be a hardware issue but
the kernel should work around it if possible.)

Bug#781118: [slime] Purging the package leaves behind a confguration file causing problems for local slime installation

2015-03-24 Thread Martin Vlk
Package: slime
Version: 2:2.10.1-3
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi, when the slime package is uninstalled and purged, it leaves behind
the /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50slime.el config file.

When I then install slime through Emacs into my user directory, the
configuration from /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50slime.el messes with the
local install an causes problems running slime.

I think the package should remove that config file when it is
uninstalled/purged.

Thanks
Martin Vlk

Hi All,
another observation on this issue is that I also lose USB mouse when I
unplug my power adapter and plug it back.
After this I have to unplug mouse and plug it bac to make it work again.

Does that give any more clues?
If there is anything I can do to help track this down, please let me know.

I do have MODULES=most set in my /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf

Now that you speak about this when I installed this Debian system (with
beta netinst installer for testing) I was given option to either install
generic or targeted kernel.

I chose the targetted option, could this be causing the problem?

Why do you think it is necessary to have a mouse driver in the

 Probably a good idea.

 base-installer.git's library.sh disagrees:
 | db_get base-installer/initramfs-tools/driver-policy

Bug#759995: Interested in helping here

2014-12-09 Thread Martin Vlk
Hi, I am a long term user of Debian (mostly desktop) and a software
engineer by profession.
I would love to start contributing to Debian, but I don't have the
experience,

Helping to maintain this package looks like a good start. :-)
I was looking at the linked discussion thread and the idea of Publishing
directly to the website on each git push. [or other frequency] is
something I would enjoy implementing.
Of course I'm willing to do all other maintenance tasks as well.

I'd do some initial reading on my own and can I then get some guidance to
get me up to speed?

Bug#400954: modxslt-tools: Duplicated file from libapache2-modxslt - installation fails

2006-11-29 Thread Martin Vlk
Package: modxslt-tools
Severity: normal

Hi, I have tried to install the folowing pakages at the same time:
  modxslt-tools
  libapache2-modxslt

and dpkg has reported that the file
'/usr/share/man/man1/modxslt-perror.1.gz' is present in both packages.
This caused modxslt-tools to be left unconfigured.

I do not know how to raise priority so would someone mind doing that

Bug#392342: wodim: Fails to append session to a multisession disk started with cdrecord

2006-10-11 Thread Martin Vlk

I have several multisession CDs started with cdrecord. I have migrated
to wodin on my system and now I am not able to append more sessions to

Only when I try to write a new session I get the following messages (not

The disk is either empty or not appendable.

I bet your /usr/lib is a symlink to /opt/lib and you have no similar thing
for /usr/share. Which implies all the links in /opt/lib/firefox that link
 to ../../share are dangling symlinks.

Man, you are right!!! I can't believe that!

I'm afraid we're not going to support broken setups.

Of course I didn't know that there are relative links in /usr/lib that will be
broken by me moving the stuff to /opt/lib and symlinking from /usr.

Thanks a lot, and sorry for the false alarm.

Could you try to 'debsums -a -c firefox' (first install the debsums
package if needed) ? Please give us any message that it would return.

Did that, no messages.

Please then try to 'apt-get remove --purge firefox' and return the list of
files that 'find /usr/lib/firefox' would give you.

Then removed and purged the firefox and firefox-dbg packages.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ find /usr/lib/firefox
/usr/lib/firefox
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplayer.xpt
/usr/lib/firefox/.autoreg

BTW, I also noticed the gconf stuff and tried to remove it's config dirs
before running firefox, but it did not help.

An update:
* I am not running scim
* I did try safe mode and a clean user - didn't help
* firefox seems to work to certain extent, e.g. I can run
firefox --help or firefox -v and get results
  in the shell as expected.
* Are you sure about the symlink you suggested to create?
Doesn't seem to make much sense to me - the specified directories
don't exist. What was the link meant to do?
* Still couldn't debug firefox due to the problem mentioned
  in the previous point.

 Create the following symlink:

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When I try to start Firefox the process disappears after a few seconds
with no error messages and without the GUI appearing at all.
I have also tried to download the same version directly from mozilla
website and run it from my user directory and it works fine that way. So
the problem must be in packaging for Debian.
I have tried a lot of different things to make it work, but had no luck
- removing the config directory, precreating a new one using a
specialized perl script from someone, removed the Czech locales,...
